Episode 2: Mission to Rescue Princess Peach

After seeing what happened, Mario and Luigi were running towards the castle to see if they could get any clues from anyone to see what they could do to help them.

"Mario, are you sure this is a good idea?" asked Luigi. "They don't even know us!"

"Don't worry Luigi!" replied Mario. "We'll try to get them to trust us!"

The two brothers approached the castle and were on top of a hill overlooking it. They then heard a woman crying, to which they looked down to see who it was. She resembled Peach a lot, with blonde hair and blue eyes, but her dress was different. It resembled a dress from the Renaissance era and it was white with red markings. She also wore a white consort crown with gold surrounding it. She was hugged by a man who appeared to be her husband. He had brown hair and eyes, with a thick brown beard to match. He wore a red king's robe with while lines. He also wore a red consort crown with gold surrounding it and had a black vest underneath the robe with black shoes to match.

"Oh, my poor daughter!" cried the queen. "I wish we were there to prevent this!"

They then spotted Mario and Luigi on top of the hill. The two Toads, who were with them and wearing white cloaks, readied their spears to defend themselves, while Toadsworth was frightened. Mario and especially Luigi were intimidated by the mushrooms.

"Who are you two and what do you want?" asked the king, sternly.

Luigi hid behind Mario, shaking in fear.

"We don't mean any trouble!" said Mario. "We actually saw what happened. Let me explain."

The Toads then looked at the king.

"It's alright." said the king. "Let them explain themselves."

The Toads then lowered their spears and went back inside the castle, much to Luigi's relief. The two brothers then jumped off the hill and landed in front of them.

"First off, let's-a-introduce ourselves." Mario began. "It's-a-me Mario and this here is my brother, Luigi!"

"It's a pleasure!" said Luigi while holding his cap.

"My name is King Pear Toadstool, the king of the Mushroom Kingdom. This lady here is my wife, Queen Plum Toadstool." said King Pear.

"It's nice to meet both of you." said Queen Plum.

"And I'm their steward, Toadsworth." said the elderly Toad.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all!" replied Mario.

"So anyways, what brings you two to the Mushroom Kingdom?" asked Toadsworth, "Where are you from?"

"Well it's a sort of a long story." replied Luigi while scratching the back of his head.

"We come from New Donk City and we work there as plumbers. " began Mario. "So today was a normal day at work fixing pipes underground until we came across a strange green pipe that we'd never seen before. I was curious so I looked inside it only for it suck us in and then it led us here. We then saw an airship heading towards the castle. It then came back and I ran so fast I jumped onto the airship. Then-"

"Slow down, Mario!" interrupted King Pear. "Who did you see on the ship?"

"Well I saw a beautiful woman, whom I assume is your daughter." replied Mario.

"You must be talking about Peach!" said Queen Plum. "Was she alright?"

"She seemed fine." replied Mario. "But I also saw a giant turtle with spikes named Bowser. I tried to stop him but he was too strong and then he threw me off the ship."

"Bowser huh?" asked Pear.

Mario nodded. "He mentioned something about a grudge against the Mushroom Kingdom and how his kingdom, the Koopa Kingdom-"

"Wait did you say 'Koopa Kingdom'?'' interrupted Pear. Plum and Toadsworth were also shocked.

"I knew that name sounded familiar!" said Toadsworth.

"Wait, you know them?" asked Luigi.

"Indeed," nodded Pear. "We fought them in a war 25 years ago. They are a tyrannical kingdom who waged war against us because apparently we attacked them first, even though we didn't do such a thing, meaning we were framed. My father fought in the war, but he never made it out alive, but he did succeed in making us win the war. It seems that Bowser is the son of the previous king, and now it looks like he wants revenge against us for the sake of his father."

Mario and Luigi were shocked at what they just heard.

"Oh my!" said Luigi. "That doesn't sound good!"

"I heard him mentioning that he wants to make the Mushroom Kingdom a part of his kingdom too." said Mario.

"That explains why he turned all the citizens into bricks, so that he can build his territory here." noted Toadsworth.

"Our daughter has the power to undo all of the magic." pointed out Plum. "I used to have that until when she was 10, I gave her my earrings and brooch so that she could use that power, since she has the potential to surpass us when she becomes queen."

"All of this is adding up," said Mario. "Well we can't just let this Bowser succeed in his goals! We have to do something!"

"Easier said than done, Mario!" replied Luigi. "We don't know where he took her or where his castle is!"

"Your brother is right!" agreed Toadsworth. "Besides, going there is suicide!"

"I don't care!" responded Mario. "We will find a way!"

Pear, Plum and Toadsworth were shocked at Mario's stubbornness but also smiled at his determination.

"Okay, we'll trust the both of you!" said Pear firmly. "But first, let me explain some things."

The Mario Bros listened closely.

"Those green pipes you went into are Warp Pipes." explained King Pear. "They appear randomly at different locations and they can send you to other places as well."

"So that's why it appeared in New Donk City." said Mario.

"Indeed." replied King Pear, who then pointed to which the Mario Bros looked. It was at multiple floating blocks with a ? sign on them.

"See those floating blocks? They shall give you a secret Power-Up."

"Power-Up?" asked Luigi.

"Yes," replied the king. "The Mushroom Kingdom is filled with those. They hold supernatural powers that you can wield."

Mario was amazed. "That sounds awesome!"

"That's all I have to say!" said King Pear. "Good luck, Super Mario Brothers!"

Mario and Luigi loved the 'super' in their name."Thank you, your majesty! We won't let you down!" they both said.

"Let's-a-go!" said Mario. As the two brothers ran off to save Princess Peach.

"We're counting on you Masters." said Toadsworth.

Their adventure has officially begun but little did they know, Bowser and Kamek were spying on them through a crystal ball.

"Well your highness," said Kamek. "It looks like that plumber and his brother are not giving up."

"Don't worry, Kamek." replied Bowser "I'm way ahead of ya. I already knew they would try to save the princess. That's why I come prepared. They have a long way to go if they want to come to my castle."

Bowser laughed evilly. It looks like the Super Mario Brothers' mission won't be so easy..
