Chapter 17: Fun in Jublife City Part Two!

"I wonder where the second clown will be" Dawn said as she and Paul arrived at the Pokemon Center. Chimchar jumped down from Dawn's arms and back to Paul's side.

"Beats me - I hope he's not as annoying as the first one though" Paul muttered frowning at the thought - earning a giggle from Dawn who gave her a cold look, which made her giggle more.

"You really need to lighten up and have fun" Dawn told him. "It's possible he could be worse than the other one. His battle style was interesting though."

"His style was annoying" Paul replied folding his arms - Dawn giggled again at that. "I don't do fun!" Paul replied.

"Sounds like I need to teach you how to have fun then, right?" Dawn winked to him - causing him to look away and blush.

"Tch! That'd make me weak and like him!" Paul replied referring to Ash. "That won't be the right way to train my Pokemon then!"

Dawn shook her head. "You certainly have a lot to learn, Paul. Even Pokemon need to have fun too" she told him. "Who told you having fun is a bad thing?"

"It's none of your business!" Paul simply replied to that question. "And we're at the Pokemon Center!" He added as the two made their way to Nurse Joy.

Dawn was surprised by his answer but simply smiled instead. 'The only thing I could think of is that he went through a lot in the past?' she thought. 'It makes me more curious about him though! He's so stubborn.' she added to her thoughts, snapping out of them when Nurse Joy spoke.

"Hello and welcome to the Pokemon Center - how may I help you?" Nurse Joy greeted Dawn and Paul.

"Hi Nurse Joy - how did you get to Jubilife City so fast after being in Oreburgh City?" Dawn asked in great surprise.

"Pathetic... Didn't you know every Pokemon Center has a Nurse Joy who all look exactly the same?" Paul replied to Dawn.

"Wow - really? That explains a lot then - haha! Could you heal my Pokemon, please?" Dawn asked as she handed Starly's Pokeball to her. Paul rolled his eyes and recalled Chimchar and handed it to Nurse Joy too. "That reminds me - I need to send some Pokemon over to Professor Rowan" she added.

"Of course," Nurse Joy said smiling to them as she took the Pokeballs - she healed the Pokemon and returned them to the right owners, both Paul and Dawn thanked her.

"What ones?" Paul asked.

"Not Starly, Cubone, Aerodactyl and Shinx but just a few others I caught. I'll train the others later but want to focus on these four at the moment" Dawn answered whispering Aerodactyl's name. "I wish we can have more than six Pokemon on us" she added "I think I'll do that after we find the clowns though. Where do you suppose the second one will be?"

"I don't care - I'm done!" Paul replied he was clearly getting tired of clowns already even though they only found the one.

"That's pathetic then. You only found one - are you sure you don't want the watch, Paul?" Dawn said - smirking as she used his word against him for once.

"It's probably useless anyway and I have better things to do then chase clowns" Paul replied referring to training.

Dawn simply shook her head. "If you change your mind, you know where to find me. I think the second one is near the Jubilife City TV" she replied and began walking away from him.

'That stupid girl is only going to get in trouble if I leave her alone' Paul thought in annoyance as he followed after her.

"I thought you weren't going to find the second clown?" Dawn asked as she started to leave the Pokemon Center.

"I'm not! It's just the only way out of the Pokemon Center" Paul replied as he walked past her.

"Typical" Dawn let out a sigh. "You know - even he wouldn't quit until he gets all three!" by he she meant Ash - which made Paul frown.

"Fine - I'll get the other two tickets then I'm going to do my own things" Paul said, earning a smile from Dawn. 'Not to mention she'd probably just run into trouble on the way there she's such a troublesome girl.'

"Which Pokemon would you use next in the battle? I'll be using Cubone" Dawn said figuring the next clown would have a battle too.

"Chimchar I think - depending on what they have" Paul replied.

"Did you know these Poketech Watches have more apps available when you get more badges or ribbons?" Dawn asked eager to get them all.

"Wonder if those apps will help me find stronger Pokemon and trainers to battle against" Paul said.

"Possible. There's the second clown!" Dawn said. The two had made their way to the Jubilife City TV station and sure enough clown number two was there - on a unicycle and juggling. They duo noticed a crowd somewhere after the clown but ignored the crowd figuring there could be a famous celebrity there, unaware that Max was about to fight Team Galactic. They focused on the clown instead.

The clown had three Pokemon with him: a Ralts, Kirlia and Gardevoir - Paul had already seen those Pokemon - however, Dawn hasn't seen a Kirlia and Gardevior but she knows of Ralts since Max had one before it got stolen. Smiling Dawn excitedly looked up Kirlia and Gardevior in her Pokedex: "Kirlia: The Psychic Pokemon and evolution of Ralts. It is said that a Kirlia that is exposed to the positive emotions of its Trainer grows beautiful. This Pokémon controls psychokinetic powers with its highly developed brain. Gardevior: The Physic Pokemon and final evolution of Ralts. Gardevoir has the ability to read the future. If it senses impending danger to its Trainer, this Pokémon is said to unleash its psychokinetic energy at full power." Pokedex explained to her.

"I could've told you that! I've seen them in Hoenn" Paul told her.

"Wow they look so cool and the Gardevoir is incredible. You never told me any of the Pokemon you've seen in Hoenn" Dawn said.

"You never asked" Paul told her.

The two watched the clown who appeared to be going around in circles on his unicycle as he juggled three bowling pins in the air - his Pokemon watched on and his Ralts put a random banana peel on the ground - which made Paul roll his eyes - in results, the clown's unicycle collided with the banana skin and caused him to lose control of his unicycle. Dawn looked worried but Paul thought it was pathetic.

The Kirlia used physic to help the clown get back in control of his unicycle which made Dawn feel relieved.

"Hello and I see you finally found the second clown hooray! This is great news but I'm worried..." the clown said as he got off his unicycle and looked at Dawn then at Paul.

"About what?" Dawn asked.

"You seem to have something growing out of your ear!" The clown said and went to go near her- Paul reacted fast and put his arm in front worried that the clown could be a Team Shadow member in disguise.

"Ho ho don't worry! I won't hurt her! I was just getting something out of her ear..." the clown reassured Paul who withdrew his arm but kept a sharp eye on him.

The clown reached for Dawn's ear and randomly produced a bouquet of roses from nowhere. "You have a strange place to keep roses, ma'am!" the second clown said, Dawn laughed.

"Perhaps you'd like these roses?" The clown continued - Paul was about to warn her that they might be trick ones however, it was too late - Dawn accepted the roses and smelt them only to have water sprayed on her by the roses which soaked her hair and face.

"Very funny!" Dawn said in annoyance.

The clown laughed and produced a horn from his sleeve to honk. "Now onto the request - you came here due to being interested in the Poketech Giveaway, right? All you have to do is three things for me and the second coupon is yours!"

"Okay - what do we do?" Paul asked, taking his bag off his back to get a towel to give to Dawn to dry her hair. He unzipped his bag and grabbed out his towel and gave it to her. Dawn thanked him and took her hat off and dried her hair with his towel.

"The first one is you have to answer a question - second one would be a battle against my three Pokemon and the third one is another question. Alright - Ralts, bring the table and cups and those things to me" he said, making Dawn and Paul look at one another curiously and back at the clown.

The Ralts obeyed and gave the clown a white table, three red cups and a small object. The clown tipped the cups upside down onto the table and grabbed the items which were a: Leppa Berry, Premier Ball and a Nugget. "You need to guess which cup has these three items in the correct order..." the clown said as he put the items under the cup and mixed it up a bit.

Paul and Dawn watched him. "You've got to be kidding me..." Paul muttered - Dawn smiled.

"Lucky, I enjoy these kinds of things! Alright let us know when we can find them" Dawn said as she tied her hair back with the towel - making a mental note to wash the towel and give it back to Paul afterwards.

The clown showed Dawn and Paul which cups had the Leppa Berry, Premier Ball and Nugget in them then mixed it up a bit - both paid attention to the trick.

"If you guess correctly - you can win all three items. Now which cup has which item?" the second clown asked.

"Hm... I'm pretty certain I saw the Premier Ball in the middle cup!" Dawn guessed.

"Dun dun! Wrong!" the clown told her - lifting the cup only to see the Leppa Berry instead. He then mixed it again for the fun.

"The Nugget would be in the right cup?" Paul guessed.

"You are ABSOLUTELY wrong again!" The clown said lifting the lid to produce the Premier Ball and mixed the cups again.

Dawn bit her bottom lip as she tried figuring out which items were in which cups. "Let's see. I think the Premier Ball will be in the first cup" she said.

"And the Nugget would be in the third" Paul said.

"Leaving the Leppa in the middle" Dawn added.

The clown lifted the cups up to reveal they were finally correct. "You got lucky! Congratulations you both win these items! Now to the battle. I'll be using three Pokemon and it's a single trainer battle each time - who will be up first round?" he asked as he gave two of each item to Dawn and Paul who put them away in their bags.

"You can go first, Paul! But wait" Dawn quickly took her bag off and grabbed her pom poms, smiling as she did. She took the towel off her head to check if her hair was dried - which it was still a bit damp - then put the towel back on. "I'll be cheering for you!"

"Fine! Which Pokemon will you be using first?" Paul asked determined to win this battle.

"Ralts - let's go, the victory will be ours of course - we're always good at this" the second clown said smiling as he spoke.

"If that's the case - Chimchar, stand by for battle" Paul took out Chimchar's Pokeball and released Chimchar, who appeared in front of him again.

"Since you're heading to the clothing store - mind if we join? We want to get more outfits" Jessie asked smiling as she looked at James then at Ash and May.

"Sure - that's fine with us. We'll see what else there is to do in Jubilife City - afterwards we'll check into the Pokemon Contests" Ash answered smiling to Jessie. Though he was relieved to hear they both left Team Rocket - he still was cautious.

"I wonder if the Pokemon in Sinnoh dress up for the contests - in Hoenn they didn't" May said imagining how cute Skitty, Munchlax and Bidoof will look in different outfits.

"Dat would be cool!" Meowth said. "I'm used to dressin' up so dat doesn't bother me" he added.

"Are you going to enter the contests, Meowth? You can wow the audience by your talking - talking Meowths are very rare" Ash said.

"Dat's not a bad idea - what do you tink, Jessie?" Meowth looked up at Jessie.

"I agree - it would be great to have you in the contest - imagine the audience's surprise to hear that you're a talking one" Jessie gushed. "You'd have to learn more moves though..."

"Dats a good point... I don't even know Payday yet!" Meowth commented remembering Jessie's other Pokemon Contest battles.

"We could help you learn it, Meowth?" Ash offered.

"Yeah! That'd be so cool" May smiled to him.

"It's up to you, Meowth if you want to enter or not" Jessie said.

"Part of me is tempted but dat battle part isn't!" Meowth told her.

"You don't have to battle if you don't want to, Meowth. Let's see what else there is around here in Jubilife City surely there'd be something fun to do after the contest, I heard Jubilife City has a TV studio or something like that" James assured him.

Jessie's eyes shone when he said that as she clasped her hands together in excitement. "Oh James, that's great news! If Jubilife City has a TV studio - I'll be there all the time in hopes to get my dream actor job" she gushed imagining herself being surrounded by paparazzi and fans.

"You'd be a great actor from what we've seen. You've both had us fooled many times" May commented. "We'd vouch you if you need it!" With that, Jessie hugged her in a way to thank her.

"Thank you, May. I'll certainly keep that in mind. We should visit the TV studio after registering for the contests!" Jessie suggested.

Ash nodded. "I hope Dawn and Max have managed to register for the contests too" he said, worried that his friends might miss out.

After going to the Pokemart - Brock chose to make his way to the Pokemon Center to book the room in case they missed the chance - he planned to tell Ash and the others when they reunite at three. It was only around eleven in the morning by the time he reached the Pokemon Center and almost at once his eyes turned into hearts when he saw Nurse Joy alone. With his shopping in his bag, Brock at once rushed over to the beautiful Pokemon Nurse.

"Hi Nurse Joy, I'm Brock! You must've been there all alone waiting for me to ask you out on a date - it'd be my pleasure to take you out on one!" Brock gushed as he held the surprised Pokemon Nurse's hands.

"A date?" Nurse Joy blinked in confusion.

"Yes, I'd love for the two of us perhaps to go on a dinner date or something" Brock gushed completely forgetting the real reason why he went there in the first place.

"NURSE JOY! It's an emergency!" A young boy cried out - bringing Brock back to reality. The boy looked really worried as he carried an injured Starly in his arms.

"Oh my, what happened?" Nurse Joy asked - Brock looked defeated and was certain his heart sunk.

"I was in Route 204 and there was this new gym whose leaders were very strong! Their Croagunk had used Poison Jab on my Pokemon and I think Starly is very ill due to it!" the boy explained - that made Brock wonder about the gym.

"That seems odd about the gym being in Route 204. Is it an official one?" Brock asked.

"Yeah - they have these badges you, see?" the kid showed a badge to Brock, but the badge itself looked like a bottle cap turned into a gym badge. "They told me to leave my other Pokemon with them so they can train them for me and to come back in a week..." he added - at once Brock was suspicious.

'Team Shadow?' Brock thought thinking it was something they'd do. 'I'd better warn the others about this too when we get reunited!' "Did you give them your Pokemon?"

"Yes - because I want them to become strong!" The kid replied.

"Oh boy - this is bad" Brock told him.

"Why? What's wrong?" Nurse Joy asked as the kid gave Starly to her.

"It could be villains in disguise - we've been fooled by Team Rocket by that trick plenty of times or maybe it's Team Shadow" Brock explained.

The kid looked really alarmed by that statement. "Oh no! They could've gone off with my Pokemon by now!" he cried in alarm. "Now what do I do?"

"Were there others in this situation?" Brock asked.

"Yes - there were other kids ahead of me as well and had the same result..." the kid replied.

"Is there an Officer Jenny in Jubilife City?" Brock asked Nurse Joy who had healed Starly and returned the Pokemon to the trainer.

"Yes - she's around the corner - I'll give her a call" Nurse Joy told Brock.

"Good! You'll need to explain that to her - she needs to know about these crooks stealing Pokemon. What did these so-called leaders look like?" Brock asked.

"She had icy blue hair and wore sunglasses and some strange outfit. She calls herself Jay" the boy explained - at once Nurse Joy was alarmed.

"That sounds like Pokemon Hunter Jay but why would she set up a gym? Seems strange to her since she's only after rare and strong Pokemon to sell - she's pure evil" Nurse Joy said in concern showing a picture of the hunter to the boy who nodded.

"Yes - that's her!" The kid said, looking worried. "She was with a bunch of weird guys too. I'm really scared for my Pokemon now" the boy then started crying. Brock felt sorry for him and hugged him.

"It's okay! We'll help you get them back. We won't let her get away with it" Brock assured him. "Is it far from here?" he asked.

"Yes - it's about an hour's walk from here" the kid replied. "Thank you!"

Brock and the kid left to find the gym while Nurse Joy called Officer Jenny for backup.

"Go, Zubat!" Lianna called out her Pokemon, smirking as she looked at Max. "You'll just be wasting your time battling me" she said full of confident.

"Treecko - stay put and Shinx - it's your turn to battle!" Max called out his electric type Pokemon in excitement.

"You'd have no chance against Lianna's Zubat, kid! Might as well retreat now while you can to let us take over Jubilife City" Jim taunted - unaware that the TV camera crew were filming this battle.

"You can do it, kid!" someone in the crowd cheered.

"Shinx - use Tackle, then Bite on Zubat" Max cried out excitedly. Shinx tried both moves but Lianna told Zubat to dodge prompting Shinx to miss.

"Zubat, use Supersonic on Shinx" Lianna said with a smirk - it was a direct hit and now Shinx was confused.

"Oh no, Shinx! Snap out of it and use Bite again on Zubat" Max said in concern. However, due to the confusion, Shinx managed to hurt himself.

Lianna laughed at this. "Oh ho ho this is great! Zubat - use Absorb" she ordered, Max bit his bottom lip and wondered how to get out of this mess. He wanted to win.

"Shinx, use Tackle and Bite again!" Max cried out - hoping that Shinx will listen, Lianna laughed at his command but was annoyed when Shinx obeyed Max while still being confused. Shinx was succesful and caused Zubat to faint much to Lianna's disbelief.

"How embarrassing, a kid beat me! Return Zubat, at least you tried" Lianna muttered as she recalled the bat Pokemon. "Your turn, Jim!"

The crowd cheered after Max had won against Lianna.

Jim smirked. "Should be sinch. Let's go, Wurple!" he called out his Pokemon who landed in front of him.

"A Wurmple? Really?" Max said and recalled Shinx. "You were wonderful, Shinx, return. Let's go, Zubat!" he said smiling as he called out his bat Pokemon which surprised Jim.

"Wurmple, use Poison Sting" Jim called out.

"Dodge it and use Gust!" Max called out - fortunately, Zubat obeyed and dodged the Poison Sting in time, and used Gust which defeated Wurmple in one hit.

"Alright! You did a great job, Zubat. Got anymore Pokemon?" Max asked smirking to the stunned Team Galactic member.

"Return, Wurmple. You did what you could I suppose. Lianna, we're gonna have to go and get backup, this kid is too strong" Jim told his partner.

"Forget backup, we're gonna have to come back with better plans!" Lianna said and fled with Jim.

"YAY! You did it, Max! You saved Jubilife TV Studios from Team Galectic. I can see a lot of potential from you as a trainer" Professor Rowan said smiling to Max.

"Alright, Zubat - I'm proud of you! To think that was your first official trainer battle too. Return - you deserve a good rest. Thank you, Professor Rowan, reminded me of the times of facing Team Rocket, Magma and Aqua" Max said smiling to the professor. "I'd better get going, I promised the others I'd meet them at the Pokemon Center!" he then left the scene, passing Dawn and Paul not realizing it was them until they were out of his sight.

"Chimchar - Chim, Char! (Yay! I did it again!)" Chimchar said doing a happy dance almost forgetting that Paul hated it as he watched Gardevior faint. Paul and Chimchar had just defeated the second clown in battle with Dawn cheering them on. Dawn stopped and put her pompoms back and picked Chimchar up in her arms.

"You're a real cutie! I'll help you and Paul get closer!" Dawn whispered the last part. She wanted to see Paul love his Pokemon the way she did with hers not treat them like dirt. Chimchar smiled as he hugged Dawn in return.

Paul said nothing as he watched the clown return his Gardevior.

"I can't believe you defeated me with ONE Pokemon! You certainly are a strong trainer... Okay now onto the final bit which is a question all trainers should know. Which Pokemon is shaped like a heart and is supposed to bring couples together?" the clown asked, Paul knew the answer but hesitated to mention it, but Dawn burst it out in excitement.

"Luvdisc! I love that Pokemon it's so cute! Luvdisc's heart-shaped body is a symbol of love and romance. It is said that any couple meeting this Pokemon is promised a loving relationship that never ends. It's so romantic" Dawn gushed smiling at the thought of it. "What do you think, Paul?"

"Romance is for the weak" Paul simply answered folding his arms, turning away hiding his blush from her. 'Yet, there's just something about her that makes her different to the other girls' he thought.

"YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! CONGRATULATIONS YOU'VE NOW COMPLETED CLOWN TWO'S QUESTS AND HAVE BOTH EARNED A COUPON FOR THE POKETECH WATCH! YOU NOW JUST HAVE ONE MORE CLOWN TO GO!" The clown cried out loudly throwing confetti over Paul and Dawn - Paul was annoyed by the confetti but Dawn loved it. He then gave the two a coupon each.

"Thank you! Now we're off to find the third clown" Dawn said as she held Chimchar in her arm and took her towel off to see if her hair was dried with her spare hand. It was dried much to her delight. "I'll wash the towel and give it back to you tonight, Paul. Are you staying at the Pokemon Center or heading out to Floaroma Town?" she asked. She draped the towel over her shoulder and cuddled Chimchar once again, who was hugging her as the two left the second clown.

"I'll stay the night and move on tomorrow - we've got lots of training to do for the next gym" Paul told her. He watched as Dawn snuggled with his Chimchar.

"Hey, I know!" Dawn said smiling to Paul.

"What?" Paul replied curiously watching as she put Chimchar in Paul's arms. "You two need to start bonding together. The closer you get, the stronger Chimchar will be" she assured him, noticing Chimchar didn't really want to go back to Paul.

"You're tense at the moment hence why Chimchar's this way. You need to relax more, Paul, treat him the way you treat me" Dawn told him smiling to Paul.

"You've been spoiling Chimchar - that's why he's tense and wants to stay with you. *sigh* I'll try but I can't guarantee it" Paul said. "If I do that, my Pokemon won't listen to me, and they'll expect that all the time! Its why I train them differently" he added.

"Do you care about your Pokemon?" Dawn asked.

"Only if they're strong - if they're weak then it's not worth it" Paul replied shoving his hands in his pockets as he watched Chimchar climb onto Dawn's head. The two made their way back to the Pokemon Center to heal Chimchar and began looking for clown number three.

"If they're weak - that means they've got a lot of training to do. I know mine aren't strong since I just got them" Dawn told him.

"I don't have time for that!" Paul simply told her, releasing Chimchar from his Pokeball. Chimchar looked at Paul in confusion.

"Why? What's your rush?" Dawn asked watching as Paul kneeled down to Chimchar's eye level and gave the surprised Pokemon a simple pat. Chimchar looked at him stunned, Dawn smiled seeing that.

"I want to defeat the Pokemon League before he does and get to Unova afterwards" Paul replied - meaning Ash as he.

"Why?" Dawn asked.

"Forget it! Let's look for the other clown and get this over with so I can be on my own again" Paul replied, not wanting to reveal the reason why he hated Ash at least not yet. Chimchar followed Paul and Dawn.

Dawn looked at Paul and smiled. 'He is cute - just wish he wasn't so stubborn and a jerk!' she thought as she looked at him.

"Ah this is so cute!" May gushed as she, Ash, Jessie and James looked around in the Pokemon clothing store nearby. The four were looking for Pokemon clothes for future contest battles and found some really adorable outfits.

"Meowth - what do you think of this one?" Jessie asked pulling out a cute tuxedo for him from the rack.

Ash was instantly bored at the clothes store but stayed for May's sake and to ensure that Team Shadow weren't there. May and Jessie seemed to have the most fun with sorting out which clothes they wanted for their Pokemon while both James and Ash were bored. Pikachu jumped from Ash's shoulder and onto May's while she busied herself choosing which clothes, she'd think her Pokemon would look good in for the contests.

James groaned of boredom as Jessie took her sweet time browsing through the store.

"You too?" Ash asked.

"Yep. Jess takes forever to do clothes shopping. Waiting for Jessie is worth it though" James answered watching as his girlfriend was talking to May about some cute outfits she had found.

"Did you want to battle afterwards?" Ash asked smiling to James.

"Thought you'd never ask. It'd be great to help me train my Pokemon - this time we won't be stealing from you!" James promised him.

"May - could you help me practice my contest battles?" Jessie asked after choosing a couple of outfits for her Pokemon.

"Would love to, Jessie. Shall we do that after?" May said - Jessie nodded.

After finally choosing the right clothes for their Pokemon, May and Jessie went to purchase them.

"Are you two going to join the Pokemon Jubilife City Dance contest?" the boy behind the till asked.

"We haven't heard of it until now, when is it and where?" Jessie asked.

"It's at the Jubilife City Hall where the contest is being held on Saturday, but the Dance contest is being held tomorrow. For the grand prize - you get a Pokemon Egg, for runners up a Master Ball and for third prize a coupon at a cafe in Jublife City" the boy behind the till answered.

"Count us in. I'll have to tell Ash - thank you for letting us know. What time is it going to be on?" May asked.

"I'll tell James" Jessie said.

"It'll be on at seven at night until late" the boy replied after May and Jessie paid for their Pokemon clothes.

"We'll be there! That sounds so much fun" May gushed. "Thank you for telling us"

Do you think the person who stole the boy's Pokemon is Pokemon Hunter Jay or will they be someone else - can Brock help them get their Pokemon back or will they get defeated?
Will Dawn and Paul find the third clown and get the Poketech Watch or will Paul quit halfway through?
Who do you want to win the Pokemon Dance Contest and Pokemon Contest?
Will they all meet at the Pokemon Center or will something big happen instead?
As for those wondering if I'm keeping the list updated with the Pokemon they have - I will also add in further chapters which Pokemon are with which Professors or which ones could be at home.
