Hello, my dear friends and to every Voltron and Uncharted fan out there. For everyone who's wanted a crossover between these 2 great franchises, look no further. Some may like the story, some may not but I've had this idea for a while. And... with help from a few good friends and fellow writers, I plan to make this 1 of my greatest stories. Also, this will be like an alternate reality, so there's no Altean magic or any of that, just normal fighting and shooting, but I'm sure they'll be just as good even without all the magic powers and all that. Also, the Voltron characters will look exactly like they do in the show and the 3 species all live on Earth coexisting with each other. And the clothes will be the same but try to imagine some of them being for women. Also, because Haggar is the Nathan Drake of my story, she'll have a kind of love triangle between Allura and another female character that will take Chloe's place, but I won't spoil who she is other than that she's from the Voltron universe as well. But some of the Uncharted characters will be in here, too, so don't worry. Anyway, enjoy the 1st chapter, my dear friends.
"There must be a beginning of every great matter, but the continuing unto the end until it be thoroughly finished yields the true glory." Sir Frances Drake
Several miles off the coast of Panama, an Altean reporter and an Altean treasure hunter had just recovered a coffin on the bottom of the sea.
The Altean reporter Allura zoomed in on the coffin with her video camera, stating like a reporter and journalist. "I'm here off the coast of Panama, where we've just recovered what we believe to be the coffin of legendary explorer Sir Francis Drake, who was buried at sea over 400 years ago."
Just then, Haggar, the Altean treasure hunter shoved a crowbar into the side of the coffin, attempting to open it.
Allura stopped filming and asked Haggar. "Uhh... are you sure you wanna be defiling your ancestor's remains like that?"
Haggar glanced at her for a moment and laughed while walking around to the other side of the coffin. "You make it sound so dirty. Besides, I thought you didn't believe me?"
As Haggar shoved the crowbar into the coffin again, Allura started filming again and said. "Well, I did do my research. And apparently, Francis Drake didn't have any children."
Haggar shrugged her shoulders. "Well, history can be wrong, you know." She said as the Altean treasure hunter got the coffin open a bit, making her smirk at Allura while telling. "For example - you can't defile an empty coffin." Before she then lifted the coffin lid open fully, revealing that the inside was empty, surprising Allura completely.
"What the hell-?" Allura asked in disbelief.
While Haggar searched inside the coffin, Allura kept filming. Haggar then took a small box out of the coffin and opened it. Inside the box was a small leather diary. Haggar opened it and flipped through the pages, making her laugh. "Hahaha. Sir Francis, you devil."
Allura was curious to what Haggar had found. "What is it? C'mon, hold it up-"
But she was stopped as Haggar turned around and covered the video camera with her hand. "No, no, no - hold on. The deal was for a coffin, that's it."
Being surprised by Haggar's action, Allura stated. "Wait a minute, if my show - hadn't' funded this expedition, you wouldn't have-"
But then Haggar held her hand before Allura. "Hey, hey... what's the big deal? You got your story and I got what I came for."
Allura was becoming angry and started to remind Haggar. "Look, miss Drake, you signed a contract. I have a right to see every single thing that-"
While Haggar chuckled a bit, she suddenly spotted something approaching their boat and interrupted Allura. "Whoa, whoa - Could you hold that thought?" She asked before Haggar walked over to a nearby crate and took out a walkie-talkie, talking into it. "Ezor? Katie? We got some trouble. Hurry it up."
Seeing Haggar's seriousness, Allura worriedly asked. "Okay, uhh... what's going on?"
While Haggar took a white case, she explained. "Uh... pirates."
"Pirates?" Allura asked with surprise while laughing. But after seeing how serious Haggar looked, her smile faded.
"This is not a joke, Allura! These guys mean serious business. And by serious business, I mean... probably going to rape us, given the chance." Haggar said before she then pointed to where she saw the pirates.
Allura looked and was shocked to see several speedboats, filled with pirates coming in on them. Allura was starting to get scared. "Uh, sh-shouldn't we call the authorities or something?" The Altean reporter and journalist asked Haggar.
That was the moment when it became awkward for Haggar as she stated after putting her hair behind her ears. "Yeah, about that. We... don't really... have a permit to be here."
"What?" Allura asked while frowning her eyes.
Haggar chuckled while taking some guns out from the suitcase and loaded them "Yeah, so unless you wanna end up in a Panamanian jail we should probably handle this ourselves."
Allura couldn't believe in what kind of a mess she got herself into. This Altean treasure hunter not only got a permit, but also had lured a bunch of pirates to them. Nearly panicking, she asked Haggar. "Wh-what's worse?"
Haggar sighed at her while she shook her head. "You obviously haven't been in a Panamanian jail before." Before she then handed over a gun to Allura while asking "You know how to use one of these?"
Allura was a bit nervous, but gave a nod as she took the gun. "Uhh... yeah, it's... just like a camera... You just, point and shoot, right?"
Haggar nodded while giving her a small smile. "Good girl." Before she picked up her own gun, ready to face those pirates.
As the pirate speedboats started to reach Haggar's boat, Allura asked nervously. "How'd they find us out here?"
Haggar then stated. "These assholes have been tailing me and my friends for weeks. We thought we lost them."
"What did you do to piss them off?" Allura asked.
"It's... kind of a long story." Haggar stated as the 1st speedboat got to them as the pirates on it were cursing in their native language at Haggar. The Altean treasure hunter then shot both of the pirates on the boat before it speeded away.
Allura seemed to notice that the pirates really didn't like Haggar very much. "These guys really don't like you much, do they?"
"Less talking, more shooting!" Haggar told the journalist as she shot some more pirates while saying to herself. "Hurry up, Ezor."
Allura then noticed some of the pirates climbing aboard the ship as she shot some of them as well. "They're climbing aboard!"
"Oh no they don't." Haggar said before running towards the pirates that made it aboard and began to fight with them. Surprisingly to Allura, Haggar was using a martial arts fighting style, easily blocking and dodging their punches while landing several kicks and punches to them that landed every time until she jumped in the air and swap-kicked them off the boat!
"Wow. Where did you learn to fight like that?" Allura asked, impressed and amazed with Haggar's fighting ability.
Haggar loaded her gun with the pirates' ammo and shot more of them that got on board while she explained. "In this kind of business, you always have to be prepared. And by 'being prepared', I mean making absolutely sure that those jackasses don't and won't stick their dicks in your pussy. It's 1 of the 1st things I did when I got into this business... and it paid off since perverted pigs have tried to do it to me over the years, counting these assholes!"
Though Allura somehow understood, she was not expecting that from Haggar. "You mean... they tried to...rape you before?"
"GET DOWN!" Haggar screamed as she pushed Allura down to the floor, making sure she wouldn't be hit by a fired rocket by one of those pirates! The rocket missed, but hit the bridge behind them!
Haggar got off of Allura. "Allura! You alright?" the Altean treasure hunter asked with concern.
Allura nodded. "Yeah... I'm okay, but-" But then another rocket was launched, hitting one of the cranes! "Oh- I don't think I'm getting my security deposit back."
Just then, Haggar spotted a seaplane flying overhead, which belonged to her long time friend and mentor: the female Galra hybrid, Ezor. "Whooo! All right, Ezor!"
But just then, more rockets hit the boat, setting it on fire! Haggar knew that the ship was about to blow and turned to Allura. "Allura, we gotta get off this boat right now. It's gonna blow."
Allura began to run but remembered something. "Oh- hey wait." She said as she quickly went for her camera.
"What are you doing?!" Haggar asked before Allura got her camera and they both quickly jumped off the ship before it exploded!
As Ezor landed her seaplane, Haggar and Allura resurfaced under the wing. Both gasping for air as Katie opened the plane door, looking overjoyed and relieved to see her Altean friend alive. "Haggar! You're okay!"
Haggar gave a small wave as Ezor, too, looked out of the plane door, laughing. "Hahahaha! We just can't leave you alone for a minute, can we?"
Haggar swam over to the door while stating. "Well, I had everything under control, till those pirate dickheads blew up the boat."
While Katie put a small ladder on the bottom of the door, Allura swam towards them, while keeping her video camera above the water.
Haggar asked her. "You all right?"
Allura just shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing that years of therapy won't fix."
Haggar allowed Allura to enter the seaplane first. As Ezor helped her in, she said flatteringly with raised eyebrows. "Well, well, if it isn't the beautiful and talented Allura Fisher."
Though Allura was flattered, she kept herself professional. "Mmm hmm. Flattery will sure get you screen time."
Ezor just shrugged while stating. "Nah, I'm more of a behind the scenes kind of woman. Ezor Sullivan, at your service." She introduced herself while shaking Allura's hand.
Katie then also shook her hand. "Hi, I'm Katie. Katie Holt."
"Pleased to meet you, Katie." Allura said with a smile as she went to sit on a plane seat.
Katie then helped Haggar on board before the Altean treasure hunter pulled the ladder up and closed the doors as she said. "Let's get out of here before we attract any 'more' attention."
Sometime later
As Ezor flew away from the area, Haggar sat at the co-pilot seat as Katie was impatient to hear if Haggar managed to find what she was looking for and asked "Well?! Did you find it?! Did you?!"
Both Ezor and Haggar laughed as Haggar held up the diary she found. "Here, a little present from my ancestor."
Ezor laughed as her Altean friend was successful. "So you found the coffin, huh?"
But as Haggar flipped some pages for Katie and Ezor to look at, Katie asked while adjusting her glasses. "Wait a minute... is this what I think it is?"
Haggar nodded. "Yep, Francis Drake's lost diary. Just like I told you guys, he faked his death. He must've been onto something big."
Ezor nodded while saying. "Yeah, well, let's just keep that between the three of us."
Just then, Allura handed the gun back to Haggar that she borrowed to fight against those pirates. "Thanks for the loan, miss Drake. I think I've earned a look at that diary, when we land."
While Allura took back her seat, Ezor and Katie glanced at Haggar with an raised eyebrow, making Haggar shrug.
Later that day
After Haggar had studied Sir Francis Drake's diary (while also being forced to let Allura take a look at it too) she gathered Ezor and Katie inside a boat that was docked at a pier, close to their hotel. While they were talking, Allura was pacing up and down the pier on the phone, talking with her producer.
Haggar started to tell what she had discovered after studying the diary. "So look, when Drake sailed into the Pacific he took the Spanish fleet completely by surprise. He captured their ships, he took all their maps, their letters, their journals... and he recorded everything in this diary."
Ezor nodded. "Uh-huh, so this-"
But was interrupted as Haggar told further. "But when he got back to England, King Alfor confiscated all of the Altean explorder's charts and logbooks. Including this one - and then swore his entire crew to silence."
While Katie listened intensively, she too wanted to know where this was going. "Yeah, so this-?"
But then she was also interrupted by Haggar. "You see, Drake discovered something on that voyage. Something so secret, and so valuable, they couldn't risk it getting out."
Ezor sighed deeply in annoyance. "All right, Haggar, just pretend for a minute that I don't really care about any of that stuff, and cut to the chase, will ya?"
Katie nodded, as she too wanted to know. "Yeah! Although it was a good story, I want to know what you discovered already."
Haggar smirked at Ezor as she flipped through a few pages of the diary. "A woman only interested in the climax. You must be a real hit with the ladies."
Ezor giggled at that. "Yep. Never had any complaints."
Katie only rolled her eyes while suppressing a smile. "Man, these 2. But that's 1 of several reasons why I made friends with them."
When Haggar had found the right page, she put the diary on the table in front of them to see. "Okay then. This... is what Drake found."
Ezor and Katie looked at the page, making both their eyes go wide, not believing what they were seeing. It was a map... showing the location of El Dorado. Which, as the legend claimed, was the city of gold.
"No... way." Katie said in complete surprise, which soon turned into a big smile on her face
"El goddamn Dorado." Ezor said while she chuckled.
Haggar nodded. "Told ya guys. He was onto something big, all right."
Wanting to see if there was more in this diary, Ezor took a better look at a few other pages as she took the diary. "Does it say anything else?"
Haggar snatched the diary away from her playfully. "Oh, so now you're interested, huh?"
"Yeah."
However, Haggar shook her head with a disappointed look. "Well, unfortunately no." She said as she showed Ezor and Katie that the last page had been torn out. "Someone tore the last page out."
While Ezor too was a bit disappointed that the diary didn't offer anything more, Katie was starting to see the better picture of this. "Guys... can you imagine this? This is it! This is finally it!"
While Haggar nodded with a wide smile, Ezor wasn't so sure as she stated. "Yeah... Only, we got one little problem. What are we going to do... with her?" She finished while pointing her thumb to Allura, who was talking on the phone on the dock.
Allura was explaining what had happened after she and her 'partner' had fished up the coffin of Sir Francis Drake. "Yes, that's what I said, it blew up. It sank. No, that's why we have insurance, right?" Allura asked her producer. But after hearing that they had no insurance, she dropped her smile. "Oh." But then she assured him. "Oh no, the camera - No, the camera's fine, don't worry about the camera. No... still as good as new." Allura said as she then put the camera down.
Haggar however, was against this and tried to convince Ezor that Allura was okay. "Ezor, that Altean girl can hold her own. You should have seen her in action."
Ezor then shrugged while saying sarcastically. "Fine, you go on out there and you tell her 'we just found the lost city of gold.' Maybe her producer can get it on the air tonight."
"Oh, come on..." Haggar said while rolling her eyes.
But then Ezor said to her and Katie in a serious way. "Haggar. Katie. Do you guys trust me?"
While Katie shrugged, Haggar said back. "More or less."
Ezor nodded as she stated. "Good, 'cause we're gonna have every two-bit scumbag in the world racing us to this treasure unless we cut her loose right now."
Katie found it rude to leave Allura behind. But after thinking that the last thing they wanted was to have every big criminal in the world after their asses, she knew that they didn't have a choice. "Ezor is right, Haggar. Don't you remember what happened last year, back in Sicily? We nearly had every 'Don' in Italy after us."
Haggar sighed deeply, seeing too that Ezor was right, but rudely said. "You're a real lady, Ezor."
Ezor patted her Altean friend's shoulder, assuring her. "I know. It stinks. But don't worry, she'll get over it." She said with a wink while instructing Katie to release the ropes of the bout, quietly.
Katie nodded and quietly walked out of the boat, trying not to get any attention from Allura, knowing that they had no choice but to leave her behind so she wouldn't be put in any more danger than she was in earlier with the pirate ambush. "I hope she doesn't get angry with us too much for this… if we ever see her again when this treasure hunt is over."
Allura seemed to not notice Katie, as she was still on the phone with her producer. "No, I don't - I don't care if we're over budget. I mean, do you realize this could be like the biggest story of the year?" At the moment she turned her back, Allura saw Katie on the side of the boat, having just released the last rope, looking very nervous. The human girl waved uncomfortably to Allura before the Altean reporter waved friendly back. "Hi." Allura then turned away while talking again on the phone, allowing Katie to quickly get back on the boat to rejoin her friends. "No, I don't trust them... well, one of them seemed to be okay. That's why we need to move fast. So just get me the camera crew, and I promise you that-" But then suddenly the boat pulled away from the dock, making Allura to look back in surprise, but she soon became angry. "Son of a... bitch! HEY!" She yelled out as ran after them, but stopped at the end of the pier as the boat was already ahead of her. Allura groaned in annoyance, as she should have known this would happen. "Should have seen that one coming."
The next day
Haggar, Ezor and Katie had been walking for nearly the entire day through the Amazon jungle before Ezor stopped for a moment to catch her breath. "Hold on, guys. Walking all day through the Amazon is not as easy."
Haggar teased her big sister figure. "But you weren't too tired for that little barmaid in Lima, were you?"
"Well, that was different. Although I must admit, equally as strenuous." Ezor explained that her thing for ladies never tired her out.
Haggar chuckled, while Katie shook her head while smiling. She knew that both Ezor and Haggar were lesbians, despite that their relationship with each other was more of a big sister-little sister relationship, Katie Holt was okay with her Altean and Galra hybrid friends' sexual interests. Even though she wasn't herself a lesbian and was straight, she was okay having Haggar and Ezor around.
Katie held up her GPS, ensuring Ezor as they moved on. "Well, hang in there. We're just about there."
While they all walked further, deeper into the jungle, Ezor started to ask as some minutes went by. "Y'know, this reminds me. Did I ever tell you guys the time I pawned a phony 16th century santo off on that Mexican drug lord?"
Haggar rolled her eyes, answering. "Yeah, you told us that tale already."
Katie nodded too and said. "More than once."
Ezor scratched her head, nodding. "Oh, right, of course." Before she then giggled at that memory. "Still a good story though. Never forgot that face of his when he realized it was a phony santo. Hahahaha."
After another few minutes, Katie wondered something and asked Haggar. "You really think Francis Drake came all the way up here? We're an awful long way from England."
Haggar nodded while patting Katie's right shoulder. "He did come all the way up here, Katie. He had to have come."
When they made it to the spot where the treasure was supposed to be, Katie looked confused at her GPS system.
"Well?" Haggar asked.
Katie shook her head while looking around. "I don't get it... according to this, we're right on top of the mark."
Haggar took a look at the GPS while Katie still held it. "Are you sure?"
Ezor walked over to Katie as well. "Maybe you're not reading that thing right. Let me see it."
But Haggar shook her head to Ezor. "No, Katie is right. This is the place."
Ezor couldn't believe that there was no treasure at all at the marked spot. "There's nothing here, guys!" She said before she became a bit angry and disappointed at the same time. "Another goddamn fucking dead end."
Haggar tried to calm her. "Easy, Ezor. Just relax. Let's take a look around."
Katie nodded while checking further around the area. When she noticed a pathway through some rocks, she called Haggar and Ezor. "Hey, guys! Over here!"
Ezor and Haggar joined their human friend before they all stopped at the end of the path, as they found the ruins of a temple.
"Whoa... check this out." Katie said in amazement.
Ezor chuckled, feeling more satisfied. "Well, this is more like it! What do you think this is? Incan?"
Haggar however, disagreed as she checked the old pillars carefully. "No... it's older than that."
Katie agreed as she took a closer look at one of the markings on the pillars. "Yeah... like two thousand years older."
For the next few minutes, the treasure hunters looked for any clues or a doorway to get in further to the temple. Haggar even climbed up the ruins to get a better look. The Altean then noticed something odd about the ground below. "Hey, there's something funny about the ground down there!"
Ezor walked over to where Haggar pointed out to her and Katie. When she stamped on it, her eyes went wide. "It's hollow. We gotta find a way to smash through this."
Haggar spotted a boulder on top of the ruins, close to the hollow spot. She then got an idea and climbed her way to it. When she got to it and pushed it off the edge, the boulder smashed through the hollow ground, revealing a stairway that led underground. Haggar dropped down, joining her friends down the stairs and going underground.
When all three of them couldn't see a thing, Katie took out her flashlight. "Think we're gonna need our flashlights for this one-" But as soon as she turned it on, several bats flew past them, scaring the Altean and Galra hybrid's human friend. "WHOA WHOA WHOA! GET OFF OF ME!" Katie yelled out as she felt disgusted by being scared by those bats. "Ugh! Nasty creatures. Filthy flying rats!"
As the three treasure hunters continued down another set of stairs, they entered a room below and shined their flashlights around to see if they would find the treasure. But to their big disappointment, there was nothing. "What a warm and homey place, huh?" Ezor asked sarcastically.
While Katie looked on further, Haggar chuckled and said back to Ezor. "Not quite what you were expecting, huh?"
"Yeah. Where's all the damn gold?"
Katie then stated while looking around. "Ah, this place was picked clean centuries ago."
Ezor groaned in annoyance, thinking that Drake got everything before they could. "No-good limey pirate."
However, that was when Haggar spotted a tin helmet on the floor and picked it up and showed it to the others. "No, it wasn't Drake. Check this out." She said as she handed the helmet over to Ezor, while stating. "Looks like the Spanish got here before he did."
In her anger, Ezor threw the helmet to the floor. "FUCK!"
"What the hell, Ezor?!" Haggar asked, surprised at her big sister's reaction, while Katie was a bit scared by Ezor's reaction.
Ezor then told her Altean little sister and human friend what her problem was. "Haggar, I'm not looking for a lousy piece of tin! I'm up to my eyeballs in debt!" Both Haggar and Katie glanced at each other for a moment in surprise, before glancing back at Ezor, who said more calmly. "I was really countin' on this one."
While Katie was confused as to how Ezor got herself into a big debt, Haggar knelt down next to a pillar and asked while looking closely at the wall. "Too many big bar tabs in Lima, I guess?"
Ezor shrugged, while admitting as she sat down and took off her shoe to empty some stones out of it. "That, and well, a few bad deals."
Haggar sighed deeply as to how Ezor got herself into trouble again, despite her telling her big sister figure to stay away from the bad business people, men and women alike. "Geez, Ezor. I always told you to stay away from the bad guys - and the bad girls. Katie did too when she decided to be part of our little team."
That made Ezor smirk at Haggar and she said while putting her shoe back on. "Oh yeah? Look who's talking."
Haggar raised an eyebrow as she glanced at Ezor. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Ezor supported her chin under her hand while teasing Haggar. "That Altean reporter. I saw the way you were eyeing her."
"Allura?" Haggar asked with surprise, but then rolled her eyes. "Please. I snuffed any chance with her the second we ditched her on that dock."
That made Katie laugh as she told her Altean friend. "Well, as the old man once said: All's fair in love and war."
Haggar nodded while helping Ezor up, but asked Katie. "And... what if you can't tell the difference?"
"Then, my Altean friend, you are in big trouble."
As they walked further, Ezor noticed that the Spaniard left a lot of things behind. "Damn, those Spanish sure left a lot of their shit behind." She said before seeing the drop ahead. "Careful, guys, that's quite a drop."
"Yeah. You're not kidding." Katie said as she looked down and saw how deep the cashem was.
"We gotta find a way across this thing." Ezor said.
"You mean like this, Ezor?" Haggar asked before shooting the oil barrel next to the stone on the other side, making it explode and making a sort of bridge for them.
"Yeah, that'll work." Ezor said with an impressed chuckle.
They all went across and Haggar saw a door that would open by pulling down the chain next to it. She pulled the chain down and the door opened but when she let go, it closed again. "Damn."
"Here, let me do that." Ezor said before she pulled the chain down and the door opened again. "I'll hold it open. You 2 go see if you can find something to hold it open long enough for me to pass."
Haggar and Katie did as Ezor said and went through the door before they saw a wooden cart. Haggar pushed it so it would jam the door before telling Ezor. "All right, let go. That oughta hold it."
Ezor did just that before the door shut on the cart but didn't fully close. "Hurry, Ezor." Katie told her hybrid friend before she quickly got past the door before it closed.
"That was a little too close. Let's just hope this place has a back door, huh?" Ezor said with a bit of humor.
Haggar saw something in the middle of the room and said. "Hey, this looks familiar. I bet there's something in my ancestor's journal about this." She said before she took out Drake's journal, flipped through the pages and saw the exact same image of what the object in front of them was. "Yeah. It looks like some kind of lamp, or brazer. Ezor, see if you can light it."
Ezor took out her box of matches and took 1 out. "Oh, so after your bitching about me carrying a box of matches and a lighter with me everywhere I go, now they come in handy, huh?"
"I just wanna make sure that you don't pick up that nasty human habit, Ezor. It's not healthy and it's downright disgusting." Haggar said with disgust while putting her journal away.
"Wait, Haggar, you mean smoking? Ezor's tried that before?" Katie asked, knowing what her Altean friend meant.
"No I haven't tried that before, Katie, I carry matches and a lighter with me to see in the dark when my flashlight is either down or I don't have 1 on me. And besides, even if I did start that disgusting human habit, Haggar would just force me to quit by any means necessary. Frankly I don't know why she bothers anyway, I hate that nasty human habit as much as she does."
"Wanna know why I hate that disgusting habit, Ezor: because it damages your lungs and can give you cancer. I don't even know why those disgusting things were invented anyway." Haggar said with disgust for cigarettes and cigars, as she didn't even know why they were invented in the first place before Ezor lit up the large lamp and the fire spread to the wooden lights above them.
Haggar then shot one of them, making a small amount of fire fall on the wood blocking the doorway, and burning it down, to Ezor's delight. "Beautiful." She said with a smirk before they went through the doorway and saw a large circle hole in the ground that was too far to climb down without breaking something. "Now what?"
Haggar then got an idea and climbed on the hand holds, being quick enough to avoid falling down until she got to a brown vine and slide all the way to the bottom of the hole before shooting 3 barrels, making the stone call to reveal a ladder that Katie and Ezor could climb down, which they did before they entered another room with a brazer, which Ezor lit up with her matches, making the door they came through close and the other one on the other side of the room open.
The 3 treasure hunters went down the temple by hall and got to a room with symbols. Haggar climbed up to the first symbol and looked at it. "Wait. I recognize these symbols." She said before she took out her ancestor's journal and looked at the page that had the symbols. "The order of these signs has some importance." She read before she went right and climbed up a couple of ledges to another symbol that she pushed.
"Uh, Haggar, something's happening." Katie told her Altean friend.
"Yeah. Whatever you're doing, keep it up." Ezor added.
Haggar then went to the next 3 symbols in the order that the journal had shown her and pushed them, making stones rise up before the stone floor opened up to reveal a secret underground entrance. "Ha ha!" Haggar laughed before she carefully got back to the floor.
"Pretty deep." Ezor said.
"And it looks like there's a ladder cut into the side." Katie added as she saw a ladder to climb down.
"All right. Wait here, I'll check it out." Haggar told her friends before climbing down the ladder.
"All right. Just be careful." Ezor said.
"And watch your step down there." Katie added.
Haggar climbed down the ladder and got to the stone ledge as some of it started to crumble and got safely to a path before going through it and pushing a block that was there towards the entrance, making the tunnel fill up with water. "Ok. Getting somewhere." She said as she walked back to the ledge.
"Aw, don't tell me you're gonna swim in that." Katie said to her Altean friend.
"Hey, we've both swam in worse water, Katie. Remember that I was in the Navy and we swam in the ocean, with several fish, including great white sharks." Ezor reminded her human friend, remembering her time in the Navy.
Ezor's right, Katie. I've had to swim in worse water than this." Haggar said with a smirk before jumping into the water. She then swam down the left fork and found some walls to climb before she got to a rope. "Ezor! Katie! I made it! I'm on the other side!" She called out before she shot the barrels near the stone wall to let Ezor and Katie through.
"Nice one." Katie said, impressed as she and Ezor ran to Haggar.
The Altean treasure hunter then went forward and saw a door with chains just like the one from before and pulled the one on the right while Ezor pulled the left one to open the stone door, revealing a wooden walkway.
"I'll go first, guys. It'll be the best way to hold those chains and make sure that walkway's safe." Katie said before going onto the walkway and for a few seconds, nothing bad seemed to happen. "Looks safe enough."
But as she passed a stone pillar, they started to fall down and destroy the walkway, much to Haggar and Ezor's concern. "Katie, get out of there now!" The hybrid called out.
Katie ran as fast as she could to the other end of the walkway and quickly jumped across to the entrance on the other side before turning around and calling out to her friends while laughing a bit. "Hahahaha! I made it, guys! I'm okay!" She said as Haggar and Ezor jumped from pillar to pillar to get to Katie.
Haggar and Ezor hugged Katie a bit before the Altean treasure hunter said. "Good girl, Katie. You're really learning, aren't you?"
"Yeah, well, I have two great teachers." Katie said with a smile as Haggar played with her hair.
"Thanks, Katie. Now I take the lead." Haggar said with a smirk as they all went up to stairs.
"Oh, now it looks like we're getting somewhere." Ezor said with a smirk, thinking they were finally getting somewhere.
"After all that, we'd better be." Haggar said as they got to the top of the stairs and saw a wall with carved markings on it.
All three treasure hunters looked surprised at the recess in the wall. "Oh man..." Ezor said.
Haggar and Katie took a closer look. "The temple must have been built around this." Haggar said.
"Around what?" Ezor wondered.
"A statue..." Haggar stated. But as she knelt down to the ground and grabbed some of the dirt in her hand, she said. "...a gold statue."
"A huge gold statue!" Katie said before noticing the several carvings on the wall. "And look, here... these people - they're worshiping the thing." However she cleaned her glasses and said while taking a better look while putting her glasses back up. "At least... I think they're people."
Then it all started to make sense to Haggar. "Of course. 'El Dorado' - 'the Golden Man'! Guys, El Dorado was never a city of gold, it was this. It was a golden idol."
Both Katie and Ezor were astounded by this revelation, but Ezor was thinking more of the statue's worth. "Jesus. Can you guys imagine what that thing would be worth now?"
Then Katie asked after spotting track marks on the ground. "What do you make of this? Tracks."
All 3 treasure hunters shined their flashlights down on some track marks while Haggar took a look at them. "Hmmm. Looks like the Spanish dragged the statue out on cut logs." Then she sighed and stated to the others. "Looks like we're four hundred years late for this party."
"So the trail's cold?" Ezor asked.
Haggar nodded. "Yea, it looks that way."
"Fuck, man!" Ezor said frustrated to herself.
"Unless... we follow the tracks." Katie suggested.
Seeing no other option, Haggar and Ezor agreed and all 3 treasure hunters followed the marked tracks on the ground. However, the tracks stopped until they reached a hole in the wall of the temple. "Huh. They stop here." Haggar said.
Ezor nodded, while examining the hole in the wall. "Yeah. Looks like the back wall of the temple was blown out with gunpowder.
"Yeah. The Spaniards must have made themselves a shortcut to get the treasure out." Katie said, thinking that was most likely the case as the Spaniards probably didn't want to waste any time getting the statue out of the temple.
"Fucking great. So now what?" Ezor said while trying to keep herself under control.
While all three looked around, they followed a narrow path through the jungle. But then started to hear the sound of rushing water. "Hey, do you guys hear that?" Katie asked while she ran further along the path, but stopped at the end, looking in surprise at what she saw.
"Katie? What is...?" Haggar asked before she too was caught a glimpse at what Katie found.
Katie pointed her finger at the waterfall, where an old rusted, submarine laid stranded on top of the waterfall. Ezor's eyes went wide. "Now there's something you don't see every day."
While all three took a closer look, they saw that it was an German World War 2 U-boat. "I'll be damned." Ezor spoke with amazement.
Haggar then theorized. "Must've come up the river during flood season and gotten stuck." Being very curious about what secrets the Germans were holding, Haggar wanted to take a closer look. "C'mon, let's check it out!"
But then she got stopped by Ezor. "Wait, wait, wait, Haggar. Something about this feels kinda... hinky."
Haggar raised an eyebrow at Ezor. "Hinky? You act like you've never seen a German U-boat in the middle of the Amazon before."
Katie shook her head, agreeing with Ezor. "No, Ezor is right, this feels... something about this doesn't feel right."
Haggar laughed while rubbing her human friend's hair, a habit she picked up when Katie asked to join the treasure hunting duo, which Katie didn't mind and found out that she rather liked it. "Tell you what... You guys stay here while I'll check it out myself. I'll call you if I run into any... Nazis."
Ezor gave her little sister a nod. "Yeah, okay, you do that."
But before Haggar left, she took out Francis Drake's diary and gave it to Ezor. "Hold onto this for me, will ya?"
Ezor nodded and took the diary, putting it in her jacket pocket. "Gotcha."
"Be careful, Haggar." Katie told her Altean friend, as she still was worried that something didn't feel right.
Haggar gave Katie an assuring smile. "Don't worry, Katie, I've been through worse. I'll be fine."
Haggar then dove into the water and swam towards the waterfall until she got to the break in the cliffs on her right. She then climbed up and grabbed a vine to swing to another ledge before getting to another vine, which she grabbed and swung close to another ledge on her left before jumping to it and climbing it and going down a path to another vine that she climbed up to another ledge before going left all the way to another ledge that she dropped down from to the ledge below her and the right path to a hand hold right above the U-boat.
"Haggar, you should be able to get on the U-boat from there." Ezor said through the walkie-talkie.
Haggar used the two ledges to drop safely to the U-boat and went to the edge of it to get quite a view. "Haha. Quite the view, don't you think, guys?"
"Hey, Haggar, when's the last time you had your tetanus shot?" Katie jokingly asked.
"Ha ha! Very funny, Katie!" Haggar said sarcastically before heading inside the old ship through the top entrance. As the Altean treasure hunter climbed into the U-boat, she spoke to Ezor through the walkie-talkie. "Okay, I'm in."
"What do you see?" Ezor asked.
Haggar answered while making her way through the U-boat. "Eugh... something nasty happened to these guys. There's blood everywhere... and soup."
"What?!"
As Haggar made her way through and dropped down to the next level through a hatway, she spotted a Nazi corpse lying across the doorway. Haggar felt a bit sick as she moved the corpse away. "Eww... nasty." But she then heard several coins spill out onto the floor and picked one up and looked at it closely. She was surprised that it was an old Spanish coin, only stamped with a mint mark she'd never seen before. "Huh. Now where did you get this, my decomposing friend?" She asked the corpse before she contacted Ezor with the walkie-talkie. "Ezor, I think the trail just got warm again."
"How so?"
"I just found a dead German with pockets full of Spanish gold, only the coins are stamped with a mint mark I've never seen before."
Ezor was surprised to hear that. "You're kidding me."
Haggar then said, while making her way through the partially-flooded section of the U-boat "It seems our German friends had a little secret."
After a minute of searching further, Haggar made it to the captain's quarters. She looked around the room and pulled a curtain aside, revealing the captain's corpse "Ugh..." She said in disgust before she took her walkie-talkie out and said to Ezor. "I'm in the Captain's quarters now... and get this - he's still here."
"Still there? What's that supposed to mean?"
Haggar answered with some disgust. "Hmm... by the looks of it he was killed... ripped to shreds, actually. What a way to go."
Ezor too found it disgusting, but then reminded Haggar. "Yeah, sounds terrible. Check around if you find anything useful."
"Will do." Haggar answered before breaking contact.
Haggar then notices that the dead captain held a piece of paper in his hand. After taking it, she unfolded it, revealing an 400 year old map. But as she took a closer look, she saw that it had some of Francis Drake's handwriting. "No way..." She said before she then saw a Kriegsmarine map on a table with the same island on Drake's map and another map of the Germans that had coordinates on it.
Haggar took both maps and checked the map on the wall. "UK2642... U-K... U-K..." Then she spotted the position on the world map, showing it was a remote place in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. "UK2642... Gotcha!"
Ezor contacted Haggar, wondering if she found anything. "Hey... find anything yet?"
Haggar smiled brightly as she answered through the walkie-talkie. "Ezor. Katie. You guys are not gonna believe this."
"What?"
"I just found our missing page." Haggar answered.
"You're kidding." Ezor said in disbelief.
Katie also responded. "No way!"
Haggar then told them what she found. "It looks like Drake and the Nazis were after the same treasure. And I've got the map that's gonna lead us right to it."
However, Ezor wasn't in the mood for any crazy adventures and said. "Haggar, this better not be another wild-goose chase. We've got to get something out of this trip or-" But then suddenly Ezor was interrupted and broke contact.
Haggar was confused and tried to contact her friends again. "Or what?" But no response came. "Ezor... you there? Katie? Anyone?"
Haggar had a bad feeling about this and made her way out of the U-boat. But as she pushed open a rusted door, it swung back and knocked a torpedo to the floor. "Ooh, no no no no..." She said before she saw the propeller on the torpedo start to spin, meaning it would explode at any minute! Haggar frowned. "Oh... fuck me. I gotta get out of here." She said before running towards the torpedo tube and crawled through.
Haggar swam back to the surface. As she started climbing out of the water, she saw someone else kneeling down beside her, together with some Galra with AK-47's pointing at her.
"Hello." The Altean/Galra hybrid said while smirking and offering his hand.
Haggar didn't take it and wanted to get out herself, but was then grabbed by her arm by one of the Galra's who began pulling her out. "Hey! Hands off, pervert!"
The Garla took Haggar's gun out of her gun holster before she saw Ezor and Katie, holding their hands in the air, but Ezor was looking a bit more awkward. Seeing that Ezor knew these guys, Haggar asked while frowning at Ezor. "Friends of yours, Ezor?"
The Altean/Galra hybrid introduced himself. "I'm Lotor."
Haggar just rolled her eyes at him "Yeah, I know who you are, asshole. Biggest crime boss of the Galra-kartels."
Lotor chuckled while telling. "Manners, young lady. This is just business."
The Galra named Sendak then pushed Haggar to stand with Katie and Ezor. "Get over there. Put your hands up."
Haggar did what he said, while the crime boss named Lotor stated. "See, Ezor owes me money, miss Drake. A lot of money. So when she told me that the three of you were onto something big, 'the find of a lifetime' she said. Well, I was intrigued. But she has made grand promises before. Haven't you, Ezor? And here we are again. Another fool's errand."
Haggar rolled her eyes. "Sheesh, does he always go on like this?"
Angrily, Sendak hit Haggar with the butt of his rifle before Lotor held his hand up, ordering him. "Take it easy, Sebdak." Before he glanced back at Haggar. "So, I'm afraid the time is up. Unless of course you found something in there, miss Drake." He said as he pointed to the U-boat. "That might compensate for all this unpleasantness?"
Ezor sighed as she told Haggar. "He's screwing with you, Haggar. They heard everything. Just give 'em the map."
While Haggar frowned at Ezor, she reached out to her pocket, but Sebdak held his gun at her, threateningly. "Slowly." Before Haggar nodded and gave him the Kriegsmarine map, but kept Drake's map in her pocket.
As Sebdak took the map, he asked while handling the map over to his boss. "What does a Kriegsmarine map have to do with El Dorado?"
Ezor then stated while Lotor checked the map. "What, you think this is a coincidence? The Germans were after the same treasure. That map has something to do with it." Then Ezor nervously smiled and asked. "So... are we square?"
Lotor glanced at her. "For now." But then took out his gun and aimed it at Haggar and Katie. "But just in case you need a reminder."
Ezor shook her head as she didn't want her friends to get hurt. "Hey, come on, leave them out of this."
Katie nodded while asking very nervously. "Yeah, don't you guys usually just... cut off a finger... or something?"
Lotor just chuckled while he started to squeeze the trigger. "That's far too vulgar. No, miss Holt, I think this'll hurt a bit more. Now, which one of you shall it be?" Lotor asked, wanting to know who wanted to get shot first.
Ezor then stepped in, trying to stop Lotor. "Now whoa, whoa, whoa - C'mon, Lotor, they got nothing to do with-" But those were her last words, as Lotor then shot Ezor instead!
"EZOR!" Haggar and Katie both yell in horror as Ezor fell dead on the ground.
Haggar angrily runs to Sendak, trying to wrestle the gun from him. "YOU SON OF A BITCH!"
But then, an explosion was heard, and the U-boat exploded, sending everyone flying backward, knocking Lotor and Sendak to the ground.
Haggar stood up and helped Katie up her feet. Both looked at Ezor, lying face-down on the ground, presumably dead. But as they saw Lotor and Sendak regaining consciousness, Haggar dragged Katie by her arm, yelling. "Run!"
Lotor saw them running and ordered his men. "After them!"
Haggar and Katie sprinted as fast as they could while being shot at. One human mercenary then appeared in front of them, aiming his gun at the two women, but Haggar knocked the guy out with one kick in the face and grabbed the gun very quickly. "C'mon, Katie!" She yelled to her friend.
As they neared the temple, Haggar and Katie looked around and hid behind a pillar. But then suddenly, a hand grabbed Haggar and pulled her back. Haggar quickly aimed her gun, but then was surprised to see it was the Altean reporter, Allura, with a raised fist. "Whoa there, cowgirl!" But before Haggar and Katie could say anything, Allura punched Haggar in the face. "That's for leaving me at the dock."
While Haggar held her hand on her eye, where Allura hit her, she asked with a bit of surprise. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Katie asked, wanting to know how Allura found them. "How did you even find us?"
Allura then stated, still being angry for being left behind in Panama. "Listen, I'm a good enough reporter to follow three no-luck tomb robbers who-!"
But suddenly Haggar pressed Haggar against the piller, while holding her hand on her mouth. "Shhh! Quiet!"
Katie too held her back at the pillar, when she noticed some mercenaries coming. "They're coming."
"They went this way!" One of them said.
"I'll radio ahead!" The other called out.
Once the mercenaries were gone, Haggar took her hand off of Allura's mouth and took a step back from Allura, telling the Altean reporter with a sad look. "Well, you're down to two tomb robbers, now. Ezor's dead."
Allura gasped in shock. "What?"
Katie nodded while she was sad too. "Yeah, and we're next if we don't get out of here."
Allura immediately apologized to Katie and Haggar. "Oh God... I'm sorry, I-I didn't know."
Haggar understood, but asked. "Please tell me you got another gun for Katie."
Allura nodded. "Of course."
After Allura gave one of her guns to Katie, Haggar checked how much ammo she still had left and told them both. "All right, c'mon."
The 2 treasure hunters and the Altean reporter then retraced their steps back though the temple, while killing several mercenaries along the way. "You two sure get shot at a lot!" Allura said while shooting some of the mercenaries.
"They're shooting at you too, you know?" Katie asked before she shot the last mercenary before they began to run through the temple, using doorways and pillars as cover from gunfire.
"Just stay down, Allura. These guys aren't messing around." Haggar advised the Altean reporter as they began going back the way they came through the temple.
Thanks to already being in the temple and using the shortcuts Haggar, Ezor and Katie made, it was much easier to get through the temple obstacles they'd got through before until they got outside of the temple. "C'mon, Allura, stay with us." Haggar said before 2 more mercenaries tried to shoot at them. But while Katie drew their fire, Haggar snuck up behind them and quickly snapped their necks.
"C'mon, this way." Allura called out as she led the 2 treasure hunters to a jeep she used to get to the temple, making sure to cover it up with big leaves and branches.
While they quickly started pulling the leaves and branches off the jeep, Allura asked. "Have you guys always been this popular?"
Haggar shrugged while pulling away some leaves. "Well, we do seem to attract the scum of the earth. No offence." That last word came as an apology to Allura.
"None taken."
As Allura and Katie climbed onto the jeep, Haggar climbed into the driver's seat and asked Katie. "You got a good memory, right?"
Katie nodded. "Yeah. Why?"
"Remember this. UK2642... you got that?"
Katie nodded again. "Yeah, got it."
But that didn't make any sense to Allura, so she asked. "What's that?"
Haggar took Drake's map out of her pocket and handed it to Allura. "It's Kriegsmarine coordinates. We think we know where the Spanish took El Dorado."
"El Dorado?" Allura asked with surprise.
Haggar nodded as she stated while trying to start the jeep. "Yeah. The problem is, so do those bastards who killed Ezor. If the Spanish found the treasure, they had to have moved it there, to that island. And Drake followed them."
Seeing now why Haggar and her friends had left her behind and that this could be the story of a lifetime, got Allura really interested and she said while folding the map. "Well, what are we waiting for? I'll get the story, and you get... whatever it is you're after."
Haggar still struggled to get the engine started. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon-" But then finally the jeep started. "Yeah, haha!"
"Well, let's go" Allura said as she was ready for this.
However, Haggar looked at her very seriously at her. "Hey, this isn't gonna be a vacation, you know."
Katie agreed and stated. "Yeah, I mean, we nearly got ourselves killed back there. And this is the reason why we left you at the dock in the first place."
Allura smirked as she said to both Haggar and Katie. "I can take care of myself. Besides, you two owe me one."
Haggar and Katie glanced at each other with a raised eyebrow for a moment, but then Haggar shrugged and started driving the jeep. "I suppose we do."
"Oh, and on the way, miss Katie Holt, perhaps you could tell how you got involved with 2 treasure hunters and wound up here." Allura said with a smirk at Katie, who chuckled.
"Well, it's kind of a long story." Katie said nervously with a shrug of her shoulders.
There you go, my dear friends, the 1st chapter of my Uncharted/Voltron is complete. I've got big plans for this story but I want to keep them as surprises. Don't worry, the other characters from Voltron will be in the story as well but won't appear for a while. Anyway, rate and review, tell me what you all think, and I'll see you all soon, my dear friends.
