Sakura Ch. 11: Where Lays the Truth?

Inuyasha was now at his favorite place, the God Tree. He was sitting on one of the branches while looking up at the now dark sky. 'It's getting pretty dark...' Inuyasha thought. He hopped off the branch and was about to go back to the hut, but before he could, his eyes landed on something. (A/n: Guess what it is...)

'...K-Kikyo's soul-catchers...?' Inuyasha thought. Inuyasha decided to follow them and that's exactly what he did. He ran through the forest, hoping to find Kikyo and having a talk with her.

"Kagome, where are you going?" Shippou asked when he saw Kagome standing up.
"Um...I'm just going to take a little walk," Kagome answered.

"It's pretty dark outside," Sango said. "Why don't I go with you?"

"..No, it's alright. I just want to be by myself for awhile," Kagome said.

"...If you insist...," Sango said with a worried expression.

Kagome left the hut with her bows and arrows and started to walk in the forest. To be honest, she wasn't outside just for a walk; she was also there to find Inuyasha. He had been gone for a while now and, of course, Kagome started to worry.

'I wonder where Inuyasha is....' Kagome thought. Her eyes widen a bit when she heard voices from not too far away. She walked towards that direction and hid behind a large tree while eavesdropping.

"Kikyo..."

"...Inuyasha...what brings you here?" Kikyo asked, her voice steady like always.

"...I...I've come here to talk to you about something," Inuyasha answered.

"Really, what is it?" Kikyo asked. She stood a few distances away from Inuyasha, but came closer. She saw Inuyasha take a step back and looked up at him only to find seriousness in his eyes.

"...Did you...were you the one who put that curse on Kagome?" Inuyasha asked.

"What are you talking about?" Kikyo said.

"Wha...you mean it wasn't you?" Inuyasha asked, hope in his voice.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. Surely you can't believe that I would do such a thing," Kikyo said.

'...So...Kikyo...didn't do it?' Inuyasha thought. '...Then...who did?'

"That girl must be telling lies to you, Inuyasha. She must have something against me and wants to make you believe I would so such a pitiful thing," Kikyo said. When Kikyo didn't hear anything from Inuyasha, she began to talk again. "Inuyasha, I must go now. I bid you farewell for now." Kikyo then flew up to the air with her soul-catchers and disappeared.

'...What should I do now...?' Inuyasha thought.

Inuyasha heard a slight movement behind him so he turned around and found Kagome running in the opposite direction. 'Kagome...?' Inuyasha ran after her and soon found out she was headed to the well.

'I can't believe her! She's told Inuyasha I was telling lies, but it's her who's telling them!' Kagome thought as she ran through the forest. Kagome was so close to the well, but she then felt a force on her that made her fall to the ground.

"W-what are you doing, Inuyasha?!" Kagome said, trying to get out from their position.

"Err...sorry," Inuyasha mumbled. He got off of Kagome and they both stood up. Kagome turned her back facing Inuyasha and he began talking. "...Kagome....how much did you hear?"

"...All of it," Kagome answered.

"Is it true then? What she said, is it true?" Inuyasha asked.

Kagome felt as her heart was shattered into a thousand pieces. They've know each other for the longest time and he dare ask her that? She thought he knew her better than that, but...she was mistaken. It was Kikyo's words against hers.

"...You...really think I would lie to you, Inuyasha?" Kagome asked, almost in a whisper.

"...N...no...it's not that. It's just that..." Inuyasha hesitated. He didn't know what to say or do, only to stand there and keep quiet.

"...I thought you knew me better than that, Inuyasha..." Kagome said, tears already starting to form. "...You jerk! I hate you!!!!" Kagome said that last line loud and clear, and most of all, right in his face. Kagome jumped into the well, leaving a hurt Inuyasha...
