Sry for the delay one of my one shots took longer than expected but it gives me a breather from this...though I do love writing this.

Ladybug was bounding across Paris as fast as she could leaving Cat Noir to take care of Volpina while she was looking for Alya. She had managed to get a hold of her and asked her to meet her in an alleyway near the bakery. It wasn't very far from where she was but it was far enough from the school that Volpina wouldn't just stumble across her again.

Though Ladybug didn't feel very anxious regarding Alya's safety, she knew Volpina wasn't after her. She was after Adrien and herself and Cat Noir had promised her Adrien was safe, so she would trust him. She quickly arrived at the specific alleyway and found Alya standing there staring at her phone watching with weighted breath to see if anything was happening. She looked up from the phone startled when she heard Ladybug's feet hit the ground but quickly calmed down when she realised who it was.

"Girl are you ok? What's happening"

"Alya I need Rena Rouge's help one more time and after the fight, I need to send an important message over the Ladyblog ok" Alya nodded and put her phone away as she was handed the Fox miraculous. She clipped it around her neck and watched the bright light that was Trixx fly around her and in front of her face.

"Hello again, you know the words!"

"Hey Trixx, let's pounce!" Alya transformed into her fox alter-ego and walked up to Ladybug who was ready to explain the plan, they had to hurry if they didn't want their friends to disappear or for Cat Noir to become the new fox food. Luckily Ladybug already had a plan and with even more luck, it would work.

"Ok here's the plan"

"Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope" Cat Noir had spent the last fifteen minutes trying to save civilians from the shadow fox as he so crudely named it. He had been running after it while trying to get civilians out of the way or distract the fox and bringing attention to himself. It was hard trying to fight something he couldn't touch, at least if he could touch it he could keep it at a safe distance.

All the while Volpina was observing Cat noir while waiting for either Ladybug or Marinette to appear. She had unfortunately lost them both so she would have to settle for the puny ally cat, but where he was Ladybug was never very far off. So she would have to be patient and wait for one to show up.

At least he was amusing. He was fumbling around with no grace that he claimed with the name cat. Rather he was frantically running around like a headless chicken or a toddler that was trying to get away from their parents when in trouble. She couldn't quite decide which fitted him best but she supposed whichever one was more pathetic would hit him best.

As she watched over the lone hero a shadowy purple silhouette appeared over her eyes followed by the menacing voice of Paris's resident villain.

"Volpina you're wasting time! Do you want me to take away your powers?" Usually, such a threat to an Akuma sent shivers down their spine but not Volpina. She simply sighed and hummed in bemusement, almost as if bored by his threat.

"Be patient Hawkmoth, I've got them where I want them and if you wait you will get your jewels. You've waited what?...a year? You can wait a little bit longer surely" Hawkmoth growled but silenced himself. He would wait to see what Volpina could do but she would not like the consequences if she failed. He was nothing if not a man with patience.

Soon after her little interaction with the purple madman Cat Noir glanced up and noticed her perched up on one of the apartment buildings glaring down at him with a sinister grin. She was toying with him as if he was a mouse and she was looking for the thrill of the kill. He wasn't a mouse! He was a noble cat and he was the one to do the hunting, not the wannabe fox girl.

"For a fox, you sure are a chicken, why not come down here and fight me on your own!" Volpina glared and stayed put allowing a smirk to return to her face. Cat Noir rolled his eyes and remained on guard.

"Why should I? You seem to be having enough fun with darling down there, plus I'm after more...irritating people" Right as those words left her mouth the target she was looking for most wandered into the street, catching the attention of super-powered animal-themed teens.

"Hello, Volpina I heard you were after me! Come get me if you can bitch!" With that the girl bolted down the street with Volpina not far behind, seething with rage and determination. She would fail to catch her a second time. She gestured for her fox to follow her as she dashed off towards her target leaving a very concerned Cat Noir standing in the middle of the street.

"Please tell me that wasn't actually Marinette..."

"Don't worry she's perfectly safe, that's an illusion. Rena's got it covered" Cat Noir looked in the direction the two girls went and gulped, hopefully, everything went according to plan.

"Where Rena?"

"She's staying hidden while keeping the illusion up, but we don't have much time she'll detransform soon, I've given her food to give her kwami because we're going to need her a little longer, but we need to hurry. Quick to the Grand Palais" Cat Noir nodded in agreement and raced after Ladybug, who explained her plan on the way to the Grand Palais.

"We are going to trick her with her own power, we're going to make sure that she thinks that the shadow fox hits one of us and then we are going to grab both her flute and necklace when she goes over to grab our miraculous. But if something goes wrong we need to prioritise the amok, her fox is more of a threat than her illusions"

"But won't the illusions disappear when the fox touches them?"

"Hopefully not since it phases through people, hopefully, this is a loophole"

"Alright, hope for a miracle and go for the flute but I'm guessing we have to wait for Rena?" She nodded.

"Yeah but she'll know when, I'll message her when we get there"

The two reached the Grand Palais and silently landed on the roof, peaking through the glass ceiling at Volpina who was sauntering through the building with her fox by her side. She seemed composed and confident but they knew she was smarter than most akumas...not that it said much. The teen villain then started speaking but struggled to hear what she was saying, with Cat Noir picking up small snippets of her words before he started focusing.

Shadowmoth from his lair was thinking almost the same thing but didn't hold the same confidence as the teem heroes, while Lila was an excellent Akuma he had it up to the Eiffel Tower with her bullshit and dawdling.

"Foolish girl, this is a trap!" The girl scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"I'm not that stupid, but they don't stand a chance against my darling" Cat Noir relayed the information as Ladybug messaged Rena Rouge, they were in position.

Cat Noir could hear from where ever Rena Rouge was positioned a quiet whispered 'mirage' and watched as two illusions of himself and Ladybug appeared bellow from behind a wall. Volpina started exchanging words with the two illusions with Rena doing an excellent job of playing them. Ladybug thought now would be the best time for a little extra luck and whispered the literal magic words.

"Lucky charm" she quietly threw her yo-yo into the air and watched as a rolling pin fell into her hands.

"What?"

"Milady I don't think reminding her of her mortal enemy is going to help much...perhaps we could give her a concussion though?" She quietly laughed and went back to watching the scene waiting for their queue.

"Looks like we've got you cornered Volpina"

"Seems like the cat and Ladybug caught the fox" Volpina smirked and with a wave of her hand her fox disappeared leaving the illusions looking confused and concerned. Before anyone else could react the shadow fox appeared from behind the illusions and ran through them.

With luck, the illusions didn't disappear, at least not yet. Their plan was working! And Volpina believed everything they wanted her to, and so did Shadowmoth.

"You did it Volpina now you just need to wait and grab their miraculous!" The girl cracked as the illusions appeared to be panicked and distressed until they slowly disappeared with illusions of their respective miraculous falling to the ground. Volpina slowly prowled over to the fallen jewels as if she was on the Agreste catwalk, pride and smugness radiating off every step.

Ladybug glanced over at Cat Noir and signalled that this was their chance, they had to move. They both jumped out from their spot taking advantage of her distraction and Ladybug threw her yo-yo over to Volpina's flute, taking hold of it and pulling it towards her. Noticing the scene behind her and the lack of the flute on her back, turned and saw the totally not disintegrated heroes.

"How the fuck are you alive!" The two ignored her as Ladybug snapped the flute over her knee, ignoring another cry from Volpina and watching as the corrupted feather glided up into the air. Ladybug quickly caught the feather in her yo-yo and purified it before letting it go and watching as Volpina's beloved fox disappeared into nothing.

They had never seen Volpina look so pissed off in their life

Wait? Not that was a lie, they had seen her just as furious literally less than a day ago. But it was the principal of it and the main thing was that-

She

Was

PISSED!

"What have you done! My darling!" Ladybug and Cat Noir landed in front of her and grinned at their small victory, they had successfully gotten rid of half of their problem. Now all they needed was her Akuma to be on their merry way. But of course, that was the problem now, but before they could even think of a new plan Volpina spoke up furry and hatred evident in every word.

"How did you do that! Darling got you, she pounced right threw you"

"Well, that's easy" Everyone turned to the source of the new voice but all wearing different expressions. Ladybug looked proud, Volpina looked baffled and Cat Noir just looked exasperated as if he was watching someone show off...which he kinda was.

"Hello Volpina, how does it feel being a rip off of me? Only with less brain power?" Volpina growled but Rena Rouge continued.

"Oh and fashion sense and charisma and wait...let me think, dignity! You bring shame to using the power of illusion if you are only going to use it to get back at people for your wrongdoings and trying to let some middle age manic in a moth suit get some jewellery, not to mention your day-to-day actions as a normal girl" Volpina had heard enough and lunged at the fox hero, clawing at her opponent.

While conveniently forgetting the cat and bug duo standing on the sidelines...

"Fox fight!" Ladybug lightly slapped Cat Noir's arm at his antics but quickly composed herself. They still had to defeat her Akuma and with Rena keeping her...occupied this was their chance. Ladybug looked around the room and looked at her lucky charm, looking for any idea of a solution to their problem. Soon enough the solution clipped and a plan started to form in her head, all she had to do was put that into action.

"Cat Noir, I need you to make Volpina angry and chase you, then I need you when I say so to push her as hard as you can ok, with Rena make her mad!" She whispered. Cat Noir understood the plan and nodded joining...try to join Rena's side against Volpina.

It had turned into a full-blown catfight...well fox fight. They were clawing at each over while literally kicking and screaming at each other, Rena Rouge making sure Volpina didn't get close enough to grab her miraculous. Cat Noir before he could even join the fray watched as Volpina was sucker punched in the back while Rena Rouge was swiftly kicked in the stomach. He was starting to get flashbacks to the weredad incident.

"Hey...Rena?"

"Stay out of this Cat! This is between me and this bitch! No one gets away with hurting my best friend". He had almost forgotten Rena and Alya were one and the same.

"Marinette deserves everything she gets and more, she's the bitch who was been getting in my way since the very beginning I'm done! Once I get my hands on her she'll regret ever interacting with anyone ever again!" That's when something just snapped. Before anyone knew it Cat Noir had just slammed his baton across Volpina's head making her momentarily stunned and both fox teens turn towards the usually placid house cat of a hero.

"Shut the FUCK up! No one wants to listen to your SHIT anymore and I swear if you say one more thing against Marinette will throw you off the Eiffel Tower myself, for the love of everything kind in the world just stop whining!" Effective pissing her off Volpina rushed at Cat Noir who dodged every swipe and punch she threw at him, taking a few steps each time. He looked behind her and noticed Ladybug approaching her from behind until she was no less than two metres behind her.

That was when she gave him a small nod, signalling for him to push her. Not wasting any time Cat Noir pushed her while Ladybug rolled the rolling pin behind her making her slip backwards as Volpina attempted to regain her balance. Once she was in falling motion Ladybug jumped over her and grabbed her ankle with her yo-yo which was strung on one of the beams on the ceiling. Ladybug pulled the sting as hard as she could suspending Volpina in the air.

Cat Noir took this chance to jump up and destroy her necklace quickly activating his power.

"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir leapt and snatched the necklace from around her neck making the once-corrupted pendant disintegrate into ash between his fingers. Everyone watched as the darkened butterfly flew into the sky. Ladybug released Lila from the yo-yo and activated it to purify the small creature before letting it go once more.

"Bye bye little butterfly" Cat Noir passed over the rolling pin and Ladybug didn't hesitate to throw it up into the air finally reversing all of Lila's damage and bringing back all their friends. They also returned Lila to her original self. But unlike all their usual Akuma victims they knew she felt no remorse for her actions so didn't bother approaching her, they also had a feeling Shadowmoth wasn't in the mood to reakumatize her. They just watched as she scowled and ran off, leaving the three heroes standing alone.

"Sorry I was so aggressive before Cat Noir, I kinda went full mama bear mode. Lila did something really hurtful to my best friend and I was not going to sit aside and let her get away with it, plus I had no boyfriend holding me back this time" Cat Noir nodded in recognition, he understood and didn't mind. Honestly, he would have done the same, if Lila wasn't a girl of course. He was a gentleman and would never hit a girl...

An akumatized one though...that didn't count.

"That's fine, I get it plus Lila is the worst" Rena Rouge walked over to Ladybug and handed her the miraculous back, there was no point in hiding her identity from someone who already knew it.

"Thank you Ladybug for trusting me"

"Thank you for being such a help but we do need one more thing"

The fight had ended and Adrien was finally making his way home. School had been cancelled for the day and Ladybug had dealt with the whole Rena Rouge situation. She had Rena Rouge as Alya make a city-wide announcement that no former miraculous holders will ever be bestowed with a miraculous again and that today was the final day she would ever put them at risk again.

It was a smirk idea, that way Shadowmoth knew that there would be no point in trying to get a miraculous threw any of the former holders...plus Cat Noir and Ladybug could go back to being a duo. While he appreciated the help when they needed it and had fun fighting alongside the new heroes nothing was better than a good Akuma fight with his lady by his side.

But he wasn't a possessive cat, he knew how to share and he knew better than to refuse help when he needed it...at least regarding an Akuma fight. Every other time maybe he was a bit difficult accepting and asking for help but he was working on it.

Adrien after about twenty minutes of walking had finally reached his house, Natalie and the gorilla seemingly waiting for him at the gates. He walked up to the two adults who checked him over for any sign of injuries which they found none and walked with him up to the stairs and into the house. He was surprised to see his father waiting for him when he walked in but he shouldn't have been in hindsight.

Gabriel was of course curious about the events that transpired at school and afterwards. Especially since these events directly included the new face of his brand, Lila.

"Adrien, are you alright?" The boy was once again surprised by his father's concern but answer that he was physically fine and just shaken up, but Adrien had a more important concern to bring up with his father.

"Father, what are you going to do about Lila?" He watched as the older man's face twitched as if the very mention of her name made him want to punch something.

"I believe I already told you at school, did I not?"

"Yes I heard but I'm worried about my friends" Gabriel raised a brow as Adrien continued speaking.

"I'm mainly concerned about Marinette, Lila has made it clear that she despises her and I don't want her to get hurt anymore"

"Any more?"

"Lila scratched her before she got akumatized, so you could probably see why I'm so concerned" Gabriel stood in silence for a few moments thinking over his son's words. Perhaps Lila hadn't completely failed him after all, if he bided his time he could use this situation to his advantage. If he played his cards right, he would have the greatest Akuma that Ladybug and Cat Noir couldn't defeat.

"You are right, I don't trust her not anymore. I'm sorry I didn't see her true colours sooner and I also owe your friend, Marinette an apology but I do know what I can start with. I will personally call the school and demand that she is expelled immediately and I will also make sure she gets the message that Lila is not to approach you or your friends unless she wants legal repercussions" Adrien beamed up at his father, elated that his father had finally listened to reason but before he could ask to be excused a knock at the door interrupted him.

They all turned towards the door and saw Lila of all people walk threw the door as if she owned the place. Adrien had to admit she had guts...or lack of a brain he hadn't quite decided yet. And in true Lila fashion, the scheming girl started to plead her case as if she was the victim in the situation and nothing before her akumatization had happened.

"Sir, I'm so sorry I have no idea what came over me, my lying disease it-it started to act up. I had no intention of embarrassing you or your brand and I-" Gabriel Agreste cut her off with nothing but a raise of his hand and a stone-cold glare, Adrien did everything he could to not burst into laughter at Lila's expression. She looked pale as a sheet and as if she wanted to run away. He would to if he were her.

"Miss Rossi, I have heard enough of your nonsense. You are prohibited from this property and anywhere near my son or his friends, including his school" The man excused his son after he asked to go check on one of his friends and pretended he didn't hear Adrien whisper in Lila's ear as he walked past, a small smirk adorning his face.

Adrien walked pasted Lila and right before reaching the door whispered words no one had ever expected from Adrien Agreste.

"I got to him first...bitch" Before Lila could react he ran out the door, slamming it behind him snickering like a schoolgirl.

He had won.

Marinette was walking to class the next day the Lila incident still in the midst of blowing over. She had gone straight home after the Akuma fight and almost everyone had started blowing up her phone trying to make sure she was ok or asking her what had happened during the attack. She couldn't help but smile at her friend's concern for her well-being, Chloe was especially worked up but for different reasons.

She hadn't stopped inquiring about the scratch. She had asked the size, how much it hurt, the colour, she had asked everything. She wanted to make sure that she could give her the best products to make sure the scratch disappeared forever. Chloe wouldn't let Lila have any form of victory and she wanted her new best friend to continue to look her best.

Marinette was positive Chloe would have no less than ten different products and cosmetic miracles ready at her seat. It was sweet and still kinda jarring for Marinette considering her history with the rich blonde. But she was happy nonetheless and could only feel more proud of her.

Once she had reached the steps of the school she was stopped by a very familiar voice calling her from behind, she still couldn't decide whether or not to run and hide but she realised it was too late. So she turned around with a forced smile on her face and took the interaction in stride.

"Morning Adrien, how are you doing after the whole..."

"Lila incident?"

"Yeah, that" Marinette sighed. The two started walking to class together making sure neither of them were late for class and continued their somewhat strained conversation. Both from the topic and the presence of the other person, mainly on Marinette's part but she was making progress! Baby steps was still progress.

"I won't lie was I quite stressed out about the Lila/Volpina thing but I knew Ladybug and Cat Noir would fix everything, they always do but I was scared for you"

"You were?" Marinette did her best to contain her blush, thankfully as always, Adrien didn't notice.

"Of course, let's just say you were in no way her favourite person" The girl laughed bitterly and did her best to hold back a scoff.

"The feeling is mutual and that is definitely the understatement of the year, I'm just glad everything is over" Adrien nodded his head in agreement. There had been an announcement late yesterday after the battle from the school stating that Lila had been officially expelled from the school and thanks to Adrien's father she wasn't allowed anywhere near the school or its students.

"Yeah...thank you by the way, for taking down Lila" Adrien smiled and placed a hand on Marinette's shoulder, slightly turning her to face him.

"You're welcome, I should have done it months ago. It shouldn't have taken another friend to finally act on it" Marinette's thoughts flew to her favourite leather-clad hero, she owed him for this, so much. She would make sure she had sweet treats waiting for him the next time he visited her balcony. She could always trust her kitty, Ladybug or not.

"What matters is you did something and helped me when I needed you, so thanks...let's get to class"

"Ok"

I finally finished this chapter! Omg this took way too long. Sorry to keep you all waiting but I am quite proud of this chapter. There are more stuff I wanted to put in this chapter but I can put it in a stand alone chapter so I'm not too fussed. Also I will be using Shadowmoth from now on, I totally forgot to use the name change. Thanks for reading and please comment opinions and creative criticism and/or ideas for one shots.
