A World In A World
"To be honest, nothing much really happened for a while after that. I mostly just focused on drawing my giant picture. Even so now and then, I would just brush some little shapes around the naughty crater. These are the tiny objects that had been appearing around the blue ball."
"It was also then that I discovered new ways to draw. Because the picture was so big, instead of using my hands, I sometimes just used my entire body, rubbing my belly on the moondust to make all different kinds of giant shapes. Sometimes, I would also use my face! I would just facepalm my tiny head into the moondust, sometimes laughing because it tickles, hee-hee."
"Come to think about it, I don't think I'd ever used my hands to touch anything besides the moondust. That was all there was on the Moon after all. Like I said, the entire land is basically just a giant sandbox. I'm sure Shovel and Pail would love it there," I joke.
"Did somebody say our names?" a voice comes from behind me.
I turn back to look. Ah, it's the adorable bucket and spade themselves!
"Shovel! Pail!" Blue rushes over to them to give them a big hug.
"Sorry for being so late," Pail utters out between Blue's arms. "We would've got here earlier if Shovel hadn't decided to stop for ice cream." She finishes while glaring at her brother.
"How was I supposed to know all the stores were closed?" Shovel replies, a bit embarrassed.
"You know I could've just magic some for you right?" I say to them while waving my wand.
"Wow…" Shovel whispers. "You think I can borrow that for one day Moona? Uh… just for a little bit."
I giggle. "I would but this wand only works for me. Ever since I found it, we were inseparable!"
"How did you get your wand by the way?" Pail suddenly chimes in.
"Sit down," Joe tells both of them. "Moona's telling us all about her past. Right when she was a little baby."
"A baby?" a confused Shovel says. I don't remember much of anything when I was a baby.
"Me neither," Pail follows. "How did you remember Moona? Did your parents told you?"
"She didn't have parents," Joe explained.
"Really? Then how did you…"
"Hee-hee. Moon fairies have an awfully good memory. In fact, I actually have a harder time forgetting then actually remembering. I'm just like the Moon: every single nudge or sweep will stay there forever since there is no wind. My drawings are still there as a matter of fact!"
"Wait!" Fred suddenly exclaims. "Maybe you can magic us all to the Moon right now and show us your drawings."
"That would be great!" Blue agrees. "Can you Moona?"
"Maybe tomorrow. I used so much magic today, I need some time to rest before a huge spell like that."
"I didn't know you had limited magic," Joe says.
"It's not very noticeable mostly since Blue usually goes on one playdate a day for less than an hour. But because of our night party, I guess I was biting off more than I could chew, hee-hee.
But don't worry! See my pigtails on my head?" I wiggle them for you to notice. "These actually help me get more magic. Every full moon, I would go back for a while and let the Sun shine on me! My pigtails absorb these bright rays and turn them into magic. Neat, huh?"
"Very!" Shovel agrees.
"But I guess I can still magic you up just one ice-cream cone." I say to him. "I'm gonna fly back to refill my magic tonight anyway. I just can't bring you guys with me." I finish while magicking a strawberry ice-cream cone for Shovel.
"Umm… can I have one too?" Pail asks me nervously. Shovel looks at her, trying to hold back his chuckles.
"Hee-hee. All right…" I reply before making a chocolate cone for her."
"Oh, do you want me to start my story again?" I ask the two siblings.
"No, it's ok," Pail assures me. "Just continue from where you left off.
"Okay, if you insist."
"Strangely though, even if nothing new happened for a while, I was never bored. Have you ever had the feeling of wanting to do absolutely nothing? To just sit there
I stopped drawing for a bit, but not because I was tired. It's been a while since I've actually took the time just to look and enjoy the scenery around me. Yes, the Moon was all grey but there are still a few interesting things that caught my attention: the dunes, a big ditch that looked like a dried up river.
I looked back at my colorful body. My blue body and my jade hands…"
"Jade?" Polka-Dots questions.
"Oh, Jade is a type of green. Like your color actually, just a bit darker."
"I looked up at the blue ball again in wonder and amazement. For a long time, I stared dreamily onto that special object; a huuuuge object full of color and light. Oh… I dreamed of living there one day. It was probably the happiest place in the whole universe! Just imagine, waking up to all that warmth and brightness!"
Or maybe I was feeling a bit unsure of myself since I was no longer matching the Moon in color anymore. I guess after a while, I just felt that I didn't fit in. There was nobody who was even the same kind of creature that I am. Everyone else- the craters, the stars, the Sun and the blue ball- has at least one other person that's similar to it. But not me… A creature with a round head and 2 pointy things coming out from its sides followed by a curved body with 2 arms. Even without anyone telling me so, I felt so strange. I began to question why was I made that way. Why was I even there?
I bent myself backwards and laid down again. This way, I can focus on both the blue ball and the stars as well.
The blue ball kinda reminds me of… well, me. The stars meanwhile remind me of my crater pups. And the dark blanket- this strangely comforting twinkly sheet that follows me everywhere- makes me think of the Moon itself. I however, can't find anything that the Sun represents in my world.
"It was like I was in a world within a world… if that makes sense. I like to think of it like no matter how much you grow or change or how strong or whatever you went through in your life, there will always be something out there that will take care of you and love you. Just shine their colors on you simply because they want to.
