Episode 0- Getting to know each other
Coach: Alright girls, I'll see you next week for your next class.
The group of teens relaxed and went to the locker room to change. One of the girls who came out first was a slightly pale skinned girl, whit shoulder length black hair, eyes of the same color, dressed in an ivory sleeveless blouse with a purple line down her stomach, black tight leggings, purple trainers, as well as wearing a purple pearl necklace and orange feather earrings.
Girl 1: Hey Sky, do you want to go get something to eat at the stall in the park?
Sky: no thanks, I have some business to take care of at home, maybe another day.
For Sky that was part of her usual routine, she would train after school, and then go with her classmates, but today she had to finish some work, and maybe then she would go to surprise her boyfriend.
Elsewhere, there were several athletic boys in the plaza, watching a slim guy with brown skin, dark gray hair, brown eyes, dressed in an aquamarine T-shirt with a white collar and short beige sleeves, dark brown pants, a black belt, and black tennis shoes.
Athlete: Are you finished?
????: Almost done.
Athlete 2: Quick, I'm getting branches on my feet.
????: I'm sorry, do you want a good grade, or just what you need?
The second athlete was about to answer, but thought about it.
Athlete 2: just finish it Da-Donkey.
???: It's Dave.
Athlete 3: Is it? We don't care.
Dave rolled his eyes and finished "his" "work".
Dave: Done.
Athlete: great, now let me give you your payment.
The athlete put his hands in his pocket and started to count some money. Out of nowhere the other two threw the contents of some soda cans at Dave.
Dave: eugh, hey no.
The three jocks laughed.
Athlete: oh, how awkward, but hey those drinks cost the same as your pay, so. I think we're even. Bye Da-dunce.
Dave grunted as the others walked away.
Dave: I better go get cleaned up.
For Dave that was part of his life, he was an ideal target for bullies, and what's worst, they knew his biggest weakness, getting him dirty. Fortunately he lived nearby.
Dave: It's weird that Keith wasn't with them, I guess all the testosterone made him immobile or something.
In another part of town, Sky entered her home, put his stuff on the couch and went to the kitchen to get some oatmeal and honey cookies. And he sat down on the couch to watch some TV, more precisely, the sports channel.
Sky: and as always, on to the commercials.
After a couple of commercials, a somewhat familiar tune started playing, while footage of teenagers on an island was being shown.
Narrator: Tell me, do you want to be famous? To know the world? Well, here's your chance, with our new adventure, you and a partner will have the chance to win a million dollars. Just visit our website to get the information on the forms, just send them in.
Total Drama presents, The Ridonculous Race.
Sky started to think, she had seen the previous 6 seasons, in fact she tried to enter the fourth and fifth, she had no luck, and in a way she was relieved when that happened, as dealing with radioactive waste and a mechanical island were not things she had in her book of activities. But this time, it seemed like a new proposition, and even better, it was a race, something she had experience in.
Sky: mmm, I could give it a try.
The girl turned on her laptop, looked up the information and reviewed the data sheets. At that moment she heard the door open.
???: nisîmis (Little sister)
Sky: nimis (Big sister)
Sky left her computer and went to see the person who had entered, her older sister, Jane. She hugged her.
Jane: Calm down sis.
Sky: Why. did something happen?
Jane backed away and showed her hand, which was bandaged.
Jane: I fell during my training, the doctors said it would be at least 2 months before there would be any progress.
Sky: Aww, that's too bad... I guess asking you for help is out of the question.
Jane: Help for what?
Sky: They're doing a new season of total drama, but it's in pairs and it's a race around the world, and I thought you and I could enter.
Jane: Well. I think that possibility is gone. But you can ask Keith. Think about it, it would be like one of your training dates.
Sky: Yeah... I'll go talk to him right now.
Sky grabbed a nearby coat and hopped on her bike to ride to her boyfriend's house. Once she was in front, she knocked on the door, but no one answered. She knocked again, again there was no answer. She decided to call him, but once again, there was no answer.
Sky: that 's weird.
The Cree girl decided to look out the window, maybe he was with the TV and his phone out of battery. But what she saw, was the last thing she expected.
Keith was sitting on the couch, making out with another girl. He was being unfaithful to her.
Sky swore she could feel her heart breaking, and that feeling got worse when she managed to better identify the girl, it was her, supposed best friend.
The athlete couldn't respond to what she saw, and simply got on her bike and rode back to her house, runned up to her room without measuring words and cried on her bed.
Jane: Sky, Sky?
Sky: Leave me.
Jane: What happened?
Sky: leave me alone, I don't want to talk about it.
Jane: Sky, I'm going to…
Sky: LEAVE ME.
Jane decided to give up on her attempts. Still, she didn't peel herself away from the door.
A couple of hours later, Sky explained the situation to her sister. Jane immediately had the instinct to go over and teach him a lesson, but Sky stopped her. Knowing that wasn't going to do anything except complicate things. They decided not to say anything to their parents for the time being.
The next day, Sky again had to go to school, even though she didn't feel like it. During lunchtime, Keith texted her that he was "sick" and that it was "highly contagious".
Sky was tempted to unleash all her anger in a text. But she swallowed her anger and simply replied that she hoped he would get better. Once she hit the send button, she felt dirty. Why didn't she break up with him? She didn't know, and she needed to divert her head at that moment.
At that she remembered the enrollment form and pulled out some copies she had made. And she got to thinking, her sister was hurt, and she didn't want to look at the other two options she had, which left her a little tight. Keith's friends would remind her a lot of him, and after what she saw, she wasn't sure she trusted her other friends.
At that she heard some laughter, and turned to see Keith's group of friends laughing at a brown-skinned boy who had "accidentally" fallen in.
Sky(thinking): that's... Dave? Yeah, I think that was his name… well, maybe not the best choice, but he's harmless, and I think he wants to get away from this place too.
Dave stood up and walked away, when a hand stopped him, turning around he found Sky.
Sky: Are you okay?
Dave hesitated to answer, it was no secret that this girl was the sports captain's girlfriend and his main bully, however, he also knew that the girl was not the same as his partner, in fact he had heard mostly positive things about her.
Dave: Yeah... it's not so bad once you get used to it.
Sky: ok, I know this is going to sound out of nowhere, but could you meet me at the park after school?
Dave raised his eyebrow in confusion, but before he could answer, one of the bullies approached.
Athlete 1: Hey, is this nerd bothering you Sky?
Sky: No, I was just asking him for help.
Athlete 1: Are you sure? Because we can teach him a lesson.
Sky: No need. I'm just asking for his help with a subject, nothing different than what you guys do.
The bully lifted his shoulders and walked back to his desk.
Dave: Thank you. As for what you're asking. Bring some books, we need to make it look like a study session, just in case.
Sky: Okay. I'll be there 10 minutes after the bell, I have volleyball class.
Dave: Good, I'll wait for you at the table in the corner of the bushes.
Sky: but no one uses that one.
Dave: Exactly.
Sky realized he wanted to be as far away from the crowds as possible to avoid confusion. The bell interrupted his thoughts.
Sky: Okay, see you there.
Sky grabbed her stuff and left for her next class. Dave watched her for a moment, until his thoughts were interrupted by a thump and a sticky liquid.
Athlete: Basket.
Dave sighed irritably and went to the bathroom. For better or worse, he had a change of clothes for these situations.
The rest of the day passed normally for both of them, Sky had to keep herself together to not to show her true emotional state, but somehow she managed it.
And when she finished her training and her shower, she went to the plaza, to the same table that the boy proposed before, where she found him, wearing different clothes. She was already aware of the little trick that Keith's friends played on him.
Sky: Hi.
Dave: Hi.
Sky sat down next to him and they pulled out a book, a notebook and a pen to simulate the study session.
Dave: Okay, what do you really want me here for? and don't turn your face away from the paper or they might get suspicious.
Sky: I have a question for you, do you know Total Drama?
Dave: The reality show where a bunch of people our age go to some unknown place to compete in deadly challenges for a prize they probably won't get in the end? No, I've never heard of it.
Sky: ok, ok, maybe that was a stupid question, but there was no need for sarcasm.
Dave: Sorry, it's my defense mechanism, but what's the point of the question?
Sky pulled out the registration papers.
Sky: they're doing a new season, new host, and new format, it's a race. And the most important thing. It's in duets.
Dave raised his eyebrow.
Dave: And why are you telling me this?
Sky: because my sister hurt her hand, my friends have very important things going on, and Keith is sick.
Dave: And what about his friends.
Sky: I just... I don't know them very well.
Dave looked at her for a second, he felt something didn't quite fit there, but decided to follow the talk.
Dave: That still doesn't answer. Why me?
Sky: Because... Even though this is a race, it probably also requires ingenuity, and to be honest, I think you have more of that. After all, you won the chess and checkers tournaments at school.
Dave was a little surprised that the girl remembered those details.
Sky: Besides, getting in here would be a good way to get away from the bullies for a while.
Dave thought about it, it was true, he could get away from the annoying jocks for some time, which would be a huge relief.
Dave: All right, I'll take you up on your offer. But it has one condition. If we win. It's 50/50. No tricks, no fine print, no fingers crossed, no IOUs, no nothing like that.
Sky immediately knew what he meant, splitting the money. In a way she didn't quite like that idea, because she knew that with her sister, or with her... complicated semi- ex partner, all the money would have gone to the same purpose, but with Dave that was no longer an option. However, she was out of options, and at the end of the day, it was the fair thing to do.
Sky: All right, it'll be 50/50.
Sky held out hef hand, Dave hesitated for a moment, but reciprocated the shake. Sky showed him the form. And they both filled in the data, Names, ID, family numbers for any case, etc. And there was only one thing left, to define a name for the team.
Sky: The name of the team cannot be a mere union of names... how about... opposites.
Dave: Really?
Sky: Well, it's quite fitting. And the names on this show are always either too silly, or too straightforward.
Dave: right... Well, officially, we're the opposites.
Sky put in the team name and signed the form, now she just had to mail it in from his computer.
Sky: all right. If we are chosen, you will receive an email with the contract, and you should be able to sign it legally.
Dave nodded.
Sky: now... could you really help me with a problem?
The brunet let out a small laugh. He definitely wasn't expecting that.
Dave: yeah. I guess so.
Sky smiled and pulled out the book that she really needed help with.
2 weeks later.
They had both already received the mail that they were chosen, the contract was sent to them, they signed it and were informed that a cab would pick them up on the day of the competition.
Sky told her sister everything, Jane wasn't entirely sure at first, but she knew the boy was harmless, besides, she thought that maybe, talking to someone outside of the athletic environment she was always surrounded by would do her good. Although that was a thought she kept to herself.
Dave, on his part, explained the situation to his father. Avoiding certain details, such as the fact that he would be competing alongside the girl who was dating his Bully. For he knew that would be like a red flag, even if Sky was radically different from Keith. His father definitely wasn't expecting that, but he didn't look worried, beyond advising him to be careful.
The cab first passed Sky's house, who said goodbye to her family. And then it was on to Dave's house.
Sky: Are you ready?
Dave: Yes. I think so.
The cab started heading towards downtown, where the start of the show would be filmed. The two were deep in thought. Which were, appropriately enough, at quite opposite poles.
Sky (thinking): I'm going to make it to the final.
Dave (thinking): I'm going to regret this.
-End of episode-
And so ends this little introduction.
In this episode I wanted to introduce us a bit to the life of our two protagonists, and show how different they are.
And here we have the first kick of the plot, Sky already discovered Keith's deception, but has not properly broken up with him, yet. Call it pain, call it heartbreak, call it minimal pride.
And due to a series of circumstances and coincidences, her only help is her boyfriend bullying victim, Dave. Yes, I'll be the first to admit that's not the best excuse to bring them together, but it was in the interest of plot.
Now, a clarification on how this particular story is going to work.
Generally the episodes are going to be written in third person, that is, we will see them as if they were the show normally, that way we will see all the teams.
But there will be parts before or after the "episodes" where we'll see Dave and Sky's coexistence with each other, and with the other teams.
Which in turn leads me to talk about the chronology of this story.
The first 3 seasons happened just as we remember them.
Then came Revenge of the Island, with the 13 we already knew, and, with 9 from Pahkitew Island, more precisely, Beardo, Rodney, Ella, Max, Jasmine, Shawn, Sugar, and The Twins. Thus giving 22 Campers, Here there is not much change beyond adding challenges, and both Sam and Dakota and Mike and Zoey become a couple.
Then came Pahkitew Island, where 13 of the 22 would return, and Topher, Scarlett and Leonard would be added.
Here Jasmine and Shawn officially become a couple, and also Scarlett and Cameron, because in this version, Scarlett is a reserved brainiac and not a psychopath. Instead, Mal's plot happens and the all-star thing happens, but without the button at the end. And without sinking the island.
Because then All Stars happen, which was obviously longer and better with 12 of the original cast and 12 of the revenge/Pahkitew cast.
The winners in this version would be Owen (as he mentions winning a million)
Beth
Heather
Cameron (the ending of Revenge is still the same)
Jasmine (because honestly, I think canonically, she deserved it more than Shawn and Sky).
And Brick is the winner of All-Stars.
Thus, Dave and Sky are still not part of any season.
Finally the cast will consist of the 18 canonical teams and 6 additional ones.
I hope you liked it, and the first episode will be uploaded along with this one.
