Shall We Dance? - Chapter 1
Why me? Why is it always me that everything bad happens to? Why me... why am I left alone in this world... with no one there for me care for and protect, and no one to protect and care for me... this world is all full of hate and betrayal... but I ask...
"WHY ME?!" Her tear-broken voice shrilled through the harbor, but not one person was there to turn their heads and look at the source. She fell to her knees, glaring at the concrete, expecting an answer to just grow through the concrete… teardrops fell to the ground.
The dawn of day had just settled over the horizon.. with fog rolling in preventing anyone to see more than a few feet away from them. Waves rolled onto the shore, like heavy broth.. and the boats at the dock swayed in the wind. Slowly getting to her feet, Felicity wiped away her tears and sniffed. She continued walking down the lone sidewalk, her head hanging down. Felicity's hand was clenching a necklace that was hanging around her neck; all that could be seen was the black metal chain.
She was trying to cover a jewel.. but not just an ordinary jewel. It changes color with the mood that Felicity is feeling, sometimes helping her in battle, sometimes weakening her. Why was she trying to hide it? To keep it away from the eyes of any wanderers...
As she walked under a streetlight, it began to flicker, then another.. and another. They were all flickering, as if someone was messing with the electricity and wiring.. but she wasn't sure. Ignoring it, she continued walking, unaware of her surrounding, just keeping her eyes focused on the sidewalk in front of her. She walked past stores and restaurants, some empty, some full of people. After walking past a crowded restaurant, people sitting by the windows began to turn their heads, gazing at the girl that had passed. Who could blame them? Felicity was a wreck; her hair was messy, her shirt had a tear in the stomach, pants had holes in them, and some found it odd to see her holding a necklace... and a metal brace fastened to her left arm.
Upon reaching an alley, Felicity reached a dead end. Sighing, she sat down against the cold stonewall and closed her eyes. But suddenly, her eyes shot open, feeling a presence watching her. She then felt it move, first to the right, then north, then back. Felicity could only glare at the rooftop of the restaurant...
