The countdown had begun, everyone chanting a loud from 59 seconds and descending. The spirits in the room lifted, so did many glasses, alcohol of every color and smell intoxicating. Voice yelled in their drunkenness, smiles appeared on lips that drank down more substance as 30 seconds neared. It approached, the inevitable, the year coming eagerly to a close, leaving behind memories and starting resolutions. The time slipped away, drawing in the celebration of a new start with a bang; fireworks in the towns square where the citizens rejoiced ready to go off in no time at all.

Time; it was dissipating so quickly, not waiting for anyone and just like that, all ten seconds were gone in a few blinks of the eyes.

''10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...HAPPY NEW YEARS!''

Music blared from the television announcing the obvious, hands were being thrown up everywhere, glasses toasting, couples kissing, people mingling; it was a blessed occasion that only happened once a year.

Through the throng of people gathered at the house, when everything went relatively calm, between two of the guests a baritone accent could be heard in the ear of who it was addressed to.

Yuuri grinned as Boris returned the Russian holiday phrase and as he pulled away from his friend, pressing his lips to a red cheek tainted from the warm votka that matched his own. An equal grin broadened and as everyone was absorbed in the festive moment, Boris slyly leaned into Yuuri and for their own instant to remember, a romantic way to debut another cycle, he captured his mouth in a kiss.

It was as full of life as the party that was loud and crazy; as passionate and fervor as the enthusiasm all around them. Even if it was to be only once like the juncture they joined in on it was as remarkable as the evening had unraveled.

''Kawaii!''

A voice sounded from beside them, forcing them apart, arms untangling, contact breaking so they could lay eyes on the foreign squeal.

Rei beamed a bright smile and pounced on Yuuri, embracing him in a fierce holiday hug as his boyfriend Kai shook hands with Boris, each with the same knowing look upon their faces.

Oh yes, that was New Years and a jolly one at that!
