Disclaimer: No, I don't own the characters from the show, or the 4077th. Even though I wish I do, I don't. However, Nurse Tucker, Lt. Crichton, Buddy, and a few other characters coming later are my property, as is aid station 1022. So, enjoy!
A/N: This is my first MASH fic, so I really hope ya'll enjoy it. This story is from the earlier seasons, so I hope it's alright. I've been watching the show for as long as I can remember, and I saw an episode last night that inspired me to write this, because after all, doctors and nurses can get injured too. I hope you enjoy this first chapter from a nurse's perspective. If you like it, I might continue in her perspective. Anyways, here's Visiting Nurse, chapter one. Please read and review.
The 1022nd aid station wasn't near the frontlines, but today the fighting had come close to home. Nurse Elizabeth Tucker was working fast helping soldiers who kept pouring in.
"Buddy, get on the horn to the 4077th. We're gettin' pounded here", she called over her shoulder to Sgt. South, the "company clerk".
She looked back down to her patient, the bleeding had stopped. She waited for the sterile gauze to wrap him up for transport.
His name was Lieutenant Crichton, and as the orderlies took him out to the chopper, she didn't think she'd ever see him again.
Once the flow of injuries slowed, Elizabeth washed up and stepped outside. Sitting down on a crate, she sighed. What she wouldn't give to stop this war! So many had passed through here, and some didn't make it to the MASH stations.
"Radar reports that they've finished their runs, and everything's going well over there", Buddy approached, giving her the run down of progress at MASH 4077.
Liz smiled, "Good," she paused, looking out among the trees and mountains, "You know, it's really too bad there's a war in the middle of this place. It's really quite beautiful."
She arose and stretched, walking over to where she had left her canister of coffee. Someone was standing beside it, and she thought he looked like a Korean. The only problem was that she didn't know which side of the war he was on.
Assuming he was from the south, she figured she'd be polite to him, "Do you need any help?"
His uniform was covered in blood, and maybe he was hurt, but as he turned to her, he pulled his weapon off his back and pointed it at her. She wasn't really sure what to do, but she put her hands in the air, and hopped Buddy was around somewhere close.
"Listen, I only wanted to help you." She backed up, against the side of the small structure she had been within previously.
Of course, he didn't understand her, and he had an evil glint in his eyes. He shot her and slapped her with the butt of his rifle before shooting up the tent and running off, leaving her unconscious on the ground.
Everyone inside had ducked at the sound of the first shot, most throwing themselves across patients. Overall, everyone inside were alright. A couple of people had been nicked, but nothing serious.
Buddy came around the corner, looking for Elizabeth. Finding her on the ground outside, he felt for a pulse and was grateful when he found one.
"I need some help out here!" he cried, not willing to move her by himself.
They got her inside and patched her up temporarily. She was going to have to head off to the nearest MASH unit, the 4077th.
