Homesick
A/N: A short one-shot for Tao Ren! I hope you like it, as it is my greatest wish you do! I hope to get at least one review…possibly??? I love Alphonse from Full Metal Alchemist!! He is mine! turns into a rabid fangirl MUHAHAHAHA!!!!
Ren moped about the En Inn, he sighed a lamenting moan and just flipped idly the pages of a Chinese fairytale book which he held in his hands tightly.
He had not been himself lately, docile as a sheep and just as depressed, not to mention just as unaware, and a trifle stupid. It had worried his friends and it was no secret that upon hearing about Ren's sadness or such, that Lyserg had taken ill purely from fretting over him.
He felt guilty over making his little greenette worry, and even though that feeling lingered within him, it still could not bring him up from the depths of the blues, perhaps it made him even more so.
Various friends had attempted, but it wasn't enough, it was not unhappiness that plagued him…No, it was homesickness, and he felt as though he were going to die of it!
How Ren missed China! The rolling rice fields, the blue sky in the countryside, his sister and the gardens around the Tao family castle! How he missed his own room…just to lay in his own bed, or look out his window, or even wake up in the morning with a cheerful Jun looming over him with a cup of tea, and Pailong smiling at him..!
It was true he even began to yearn for his uncle, which thoroughly disgusted him and made him want to vomit, but he truly could not deny it.
What he wanted most was to go back to China, but he couldn't leave now, not with all of the precious friends he would abandon.
Everything seemed to swirl about his head in a melancholy, elevating melody, and then Ren fell deeply asleep on the pine desk, right next to his untouched glass of milk.
When he was gently awakened by a tense Lyserg, dangerously close to his face and smiling ecstatically, he naturally grew a bit worried, but did as he was told and let him tie the blindfold around his piercing yellow eyes.
Finally when he reached the room Lyserg had instructed him to enter, the blindfold was ripped off and he was immediately ambushed with a barrage of Chinese music that nearly shook the frames of the inn, food, decorations, and rather horrible, mingled Chinese phrases that everyone he had befriended in the Shaman Fight was attempting to fathom.
As the surprised dark-haired boy drew further into the room, he noticed that also, everyone, from Tamao to Manta was wearing Chinese clothing, just as he and Jun did!
This heart-warming sentiment nearly brought him to tears, but he was far too proud and it was not something he thought a man should do, and merely grinned widely.
Ren spent a wonderful, touching night with his friends—no, his new family—and though, there was not mother or father, nor an aunt or an uncle, they were all definitely a family, in every single way.
