Disclaimer: Oh yes this is an orginal piece of fanfiction! Nope this is all Tolkien's genius.
Hello, well here is a poem that I wanted to share. Bear in mind that when I wrote it, I didn't really know much about Glorfindel (stupid I know) only that he was mentioned as a Balrog slayer in the Silmarillion and of course was in LOTR as well. (Though noww I've heard that they are two different elves altogether...)
Anyway here it is, (oh and review if u can!)
Glorfindel
Mysteries surround, how much can we know,
Of what came to pass, only recorded writings show.
We hear of your greatness, Elf Warrior of Rivendell,
Beyond this knowledge, we are lost so do tell.
You lived in the hearts of an unsuspecting two,
The spirit of a true Warrior is gifted to few,
Yet what legends are laid down by those who bear that name,
Passing down the generations, until you are born again.
You lived as the necessary one, without you hope was lost,
When you were near, evil fled before your inescapable wrath,
The darkness feared you, and forever they learned,
That upon your arrival, the tides of fate were turned.
As a constant companion, by your gentle hand rode Asfaloth,
You were a kind master to all, and your words were soft,
An Elf Lord, powerful and wise, you travelled the land,
Giving unbridled friendship and love to all that would demand,
If a home you had, it was with the elves of Rivendell,
But you were not bound, to travel the land you were compelled,
Stories speak of your deeds when you roamed this earth,
Of the amazing feats of bravery, accomplished away from home turf,
A Balrog, shadow and flame incarnate, demon of an ancient world,
You spat at and with all the power of the Eldar unfurled,
You fought your enemy to victory's last defeat,
You gave your life away, so others could live and weep,
But it was not the end, as we know so well,
When you were needed the most, along came Glorfindel,
On Asfaloth, you came to this world once more,
To save a halfling's life, and to even the score.
