(Chapter 10.5)
[Mei Hatsume's First Visit to the Midoriya Residence, 3 pm]
When Inko went to open the door that afternoon, she expected to see her son. She wished that he would bring home a friend but she knew his quirk situation ruined a lot of chances for him to make friends and even less a girlfriend. So it came as an earth-shattering shock to her, when she opened the door to see her son happily chatting away with a pink haired girl wearing steampunk goggles. Her tank top was riddled with sweat, which immediately gave her the wrong idea as she fainted onto the soft carpet of their living room.
"Mom? I should've called first to see if she was home" said Midoriya nonchalantly as he was used to his mom's behavior. He used The Day to lift her onto the couch.
"So this is your apartment? Very cramped but not bad! Wonder if you have any good snacks" said Mei, helping herself to their fridge. Izuku quickly ran up to the snack eating glutton, preventing her from munching on his leftover scrambled eggs sandwich.
"Hey, hey wait Hatsume-san! That's my breakfast for tomorrow, the snacks are in the pantry" exclaimed Izuku, frantically. Mei stared at him before walking to the pantry seeing an assortment of snacks, she happily grabbed a granola bar while pulling out her latest project out of her bag, placing it on the table.
"So the universal remote is going well so far but I need a tv to try it on. I'd rather not get yelled at by mom again for causing another explosion indoors, so I vote to use yours!" said Mei nonchalantly pointing the remote at his tv. Before he could do anything to stop her, he watched as the tv switched rapidly between channels between landing on a channel showing American news. They both jumped from joy, that the invention worked.
"So this device will bypass the international restrictions, allowing you to watch any channel globally. Heck, you don't even have to pay anymore!" said Mei proudly, although streaming services did exist. He knew that his mother would appreciate it because they simply couldn't afford a streaming service. Izuku nodded happily as he scratched the invention from their idea list.
After an hour, Inko woke up to the sight of the duo seemingly kissing, further shocking her when in reality Mei was just invading Izuku's personal space per usual. Izuku saw his mom staring at them, shoving the grinning Mei away.
"Umm, hi mom. This is my friend, Mei Hatsume. Hatsume-san say something" said Izuku, panicking. He knew that his mother would get the wrong idea after what she just saw, and he'd be embarrassed to death if she started talking about grandchildren.
"Nice to meet you, Mamadoriya!" shouted Mei, temporarily looking up from the blueprint of their next project, before getting back to work. Inko, now calming down after realizing that they weren't dating, was confused as to what they were doing.
"Oh mom, we just used an invention to gain access to any channel in the world. We won't even have to pay for the additional channels, just the normal fee. Before you ask, it's 100% legal…I think. Hatsume's an inventor and I give her ideas" explained Izuku to his mom, who was making them something to eat. She hesitantly allowed for Izuku to keep the additional channels as she couldn't lie; it was rather tempting to be able to watch any show she wanted even in the digital era.
"Our next project is the Hoverbike! It's gonna be our personal method of travel from now on… hopefully" said Mei hesitantly. Inko was intrigued as she gave the two their snacks, some freshly bought apple pie. The two teens happily dug in while discussing their vehicle, while Inko smiled at her son and his first real friend. Silently hoping the two fall in love, so she can have grandchildren.
[2 weeks later, the Hoverbike 1.0 incident]
Inko woke up to a loud crash outside their apartment. She ran outside to find Mei atop Izuku and what looked like a futuristic looking motorcycle, broken on the ground. She hoped this wouldn't become a normal occurrence.
"What are you two doing?" asked Inko, worriedly.
"Oh, hey Mamadoriya! Me and Izuku were testing our motorcycle's flight feature and we almost died!" shouted Mei, enthusiastically to which Inko looked horrified.
"Hatsume-san, it'd actually be 'Izuku and I'..." muttered Izuku.
"YOU TWO DID WHAT?! Are you two okay?!" said Inko as she rushed over to check the two for any wounds.
"Not anymore! My neck almost snapped but Izuku fixed me up" said Mei, still smiling to the horror of Inko. She looked at her son who was bright red as he was getting a face full of chest, she smirked knowing it'd be fun to tease him about it later.
"Hatsume! Don't ever do that again! If I tell you to not press a button before it's fully calibrated then don't do it. I-I could have lost you Hatsume, that's not funny" said Izuku angrily, tearing up a little. Mei stopped smiling and Inko was shocked as he sounded so devastated.
'It must have traumatized him. No one should have to see that, oh Izuku' thought Inko as she went to hug her son but stopped after noticing Mei.
She was looking at the ground, and after a minute, she removed her goggles and put them on the broken motorcycle. She walked up to Izuku and hugged him tightly, then she kissed him on his cheek. Izuku looked at her utterly confused as he blushed profusely, until he noticed that she was tearing up.
"I screwed the pooch this time huh. I'm sorry Izuku, really. I thought it would be fine because my calculations were always correct in the past but I should have listened to you. I never check for error because of my pride and look where that got me, almost dying in front of my only friend. Thanks for saving me like usual, I really thought I was gonna die" said Mei, smiling with tearful eyes, increasing her hold on him. Izuku just hugged her back while they both started crying, promising to always triple check before testing an experiment.
Inko looked at the two teens in shock, filled with sadness, and happiness. The two weren't fighting like she thought would happen but had confirmed her suspicions that the incident was more graphic than she first thought. She walked up hugging both teens as she told them to come inside for some milk and cookies as a way to get their minds off the traumatic event.
[Two Months into Izuku's Training]
When Izuku met her parents for the first time, her mother, the splitting image of her but had a circle in her yellow irises and straight pink hair, asked him to take good care of her daughter. He blushed profusely understanding what she was implying, while a groggy Mei told her mom to stop trying to get her married as she eloquently said:
"M-mom, if I got married and fell in love, I'd be too distracted to keep making my babies!" This comment only caused her mom to smirk as Mei immediately groaned knowing she had messed up.
"Why don't you just make some real babies sweety?" said Mrs Hatsume, smirking mischievously. Izuku felt a warm liquid slide down his right nostril as he imagined Mei in a wedding dress but the image faded to reveal her in a white tank top with a long skirt instead of a traditional dress. He is snapped out of his daydreaming as he feels Mrs Hatsume wiping his nose with a handkerchief.
"Oh my, I was just teasing you sweetie. I guess you do like my daughter though seeing as you were having naughty enough thoughts to nosebleed" said Mrs Hatsume chuckling. Izuku immediately tried to remedy the misunderstanding as he felt Mei glare into his soul.
"No no, it was nothing like that I swear! It's just I imagined Mei in a wedding dress and she looked fantastic but then I realistically thought about it and envisioned her standing at the altar of her wedding in a white tank top and long white skirt" said Izuku, who couldn't keep a straight expression as he explained it. Mei's eyes sparkled at the brilliant idea, while her mother shook her head agreeing.
Suddenly, a woman with black dreadlocks but the same irises as Mei, came rushing down the stairs. She stopped to look around the living room confused; a green haired boy wearing a green trench coat was carrying her little sister over his shoulder, while her mom was laughing.
"Um, hello?" said Izuku, shyly.
"Who are you and why are you holding my lil sis like that?" asked the woman with an intimidating stare. Izuku gulped as he explained his friendship with Mei and how he carried her home because she was too tired. The woman laughed loudly while patting her sister on the head, Mei grimaced.
"I didn't think she'd ever be capable of making a friend, let alone someone kind enough to bring her home. I assumed she'd be tricked by some perv, trying to help her make babies but not in Mei's way" said the woman with a clenched fist. Izuku chuckled nervously as he knew Mei would probably fall for something like that, he was honestly glad he got to be her friend before something like that happened.
"Name's Hari Hatsume, nice to meet ya kid" said Hari extending her hand out for a handshake. Izuku nervously shook it, mustering a smile.
After that he was about to leave as it was getting late, when Mrs Hatsume asked for him to join them for dinner. Izuku wasn't sure he could stay but after calling his mother and handing Mrs Hatsume the phone, she left the room for 10 minutes and returned handing him his phone saying that his mom agreed it'd be fine. He failed to notice the glint in her eye.
He looked towards Mei who was sleeping peacefully, with drool dripping from the corner of her mouth. He smiled then saw a tiny black cat, with green eyes, jump onto the sofa with Mei and lick her hands. He didn't know she had a cat!
After asking Mrs Hatsume about the cute little creature, she told him that he was named Ratchet, which Izuku laughed at as the name was a fitting one coming from Mei.
"So, is he one of those hostile cats?" asked Izuku nervously approaching the cat. It stared at him for a minute then it smiled at him!
"He chooses who he likes, carefully. He isn't nice to strangers and dislikes anyone who is mean to Mei. He also has a quirk, which I've been told is a rare occurrence in nature. Just don't drop water on him or he'll plot to worsen your day, speaking from experience although he never harms Mei" said Mrs Hatsume explaining the cat's nature. Izuku nodded as he put his open palm towards the cat, but it did something bizarre. It tapped the button on its collar then it began to speak!
"You're an interesting person. You are kind to Mei but also not afraid to reprimand her, you brought her home even though she always keeps gadgets on herself to stay safe. You are a good person" said Ratchet in a childish voice. The black cat licked his palm then scampered off upstairs, leaving Izuku feeling proud he left a good first impression.
When dinner arrived Izuku met Mei's father. An imposing man; black dreadlocks, black pupils with cross-signed irises and a muscular build. Izuku gulped as he sat down next to a now reenergized Mei, who hung her arm around his shoulder.
"Hey Izuku, thanks for carrying me home, you're a real pal. If you ever want me to return the favor, just ask, alright?" asked Mei, patting his back. He nods still intimidated by her father's menacing presence.
"So, Hari told me that you're the boy that she's always talking about. I apologize for seeming like I was sizing you up, because I was…" stopped the man looking around the room. Hari, Mei and Mrs Hatsume glared at him while he just gulped and continued.
"You seem trustworthy enough afterall you brought her home while she was feeling tired. If you did anything to her while she was groggy" said the man with an angry glare. Izuku frantically waved his hands in front of himself.
"I would never, I promise. If anything she's the one who keeps teasing me although we've both never done anything bad" said Izuku, trying not to anger the man.
The man apologizes for falsely insinuating that he did anything to Mei, then Mrs Hatsume brought out the food, and Hari helped out with the drinks. Izuku and Hari took some sparkling water, Mei got a coke, while the grown ups drank some wine.
"So Izuku, what is your plan with my daughter?" asks Mr Hatsume trying to make some conversation. He had seen how close Mei was with the boy, which Mei never did with anyone else.
While it was true she always ignored people's personal space and was a handsy girl, she never would call anyone her friend. Meaning that she must really like the boy, especially with how she constantly mentioned him.
To be honest, he had been waiting to see what kind of person he was. What he found shocked him because the boy was rather shy and timid. What he didn't know was that being in his presence brought out his terrible trait which he hadn't displayed much of.
Besides when he was scolded by his dad if he got reported by his mom that he got in a fight at Aldera. Mei looked at Izuku perplexed by why he was acting so strange as she had never seen this side of him.
"Oh, if you mean dating wise, we aren't in a relationship sir. We are very good friends though, and I'm glad we met, did she ever tell you how that happened?" asked Izuku trying to change topics as the man was clearly under the impression he was trying to date Mei.

{After Dinner}
After a delicious dinner cooked by Mrs Hatsume & Hari, Izuku was getting ready to finally leave when Mr Hatsume approached him again once the women left the living room.
"Look I truly apologize for putting you on the spot, it was terrible of me to do but had to know your intentions. You're a good kid and thanks for being friends with my baby girl, I don't mind if you date her, however if you two are feeling curious, wear protection" said the buff man walking away. He whispered the last part in his ear as Mei walked in the room, causing Izuku to get a nosebleed.
"Jeez, my old man didn't punch you did he?! I swear I'm gonna-" Mei was cut off by Izuku.
"Nothing like that. He j-just told me something, your family sure loves teasing me" said Izuku, shaking his head trying to not think about the possibility of being in a relationship with Mei. Why so many people kept insinuating the idea, weirded him out.
"Hm, weird. Anyways, why don't you spend the night?" asked Mei, yawning. Izuku only noticed now that she was wearing pajamas with gears and ratchets all over them, which he found very amusing.
"I don't know. I really should get home, plus where would I even sleep?" asked Izuku.
"With m-me, kiddo" said a slurring Hari, coming from the kitchen. Her comment made him blush, and so did Mei surprisingly.
"AHH, umm I respectfully decline" said Izuku, walking back as Hari crept closer to him. While he stood at an impressive 5'7, Hari was 6'0, making him feel quite intimidated.
"You know if Mei won't claim you, I can show you what it's like to be with an experienced woman" said Hari huskily. Izuku gulped while he stammered out a response, Mei just stared at her drunk sister utterly disgusted.
"I-I mean, w-we shouldn't because it would just be weird! Plus how old are you anyways" asked Izuku, blushing profusely.
"18" replied the black haired woman, grinning proudly. Izuku stared in shock at how she was only three years older than him, he had to admit that was a rather beautiful woman.
"S-still too old for me" muttered Izuku, he was caught off guard by Hari cupping his chin and kissing him on the lips. Izuku struggled to break free, as Mei rushed at her sister pushing her away from Izuku.
Izuku immediately passed out from the kiss as his brain couldn't process the turn of events, while Mei blushed profusely yelling every curse word she could muster towards the enchantress. She just laughed as she walked towards the unconscious boy, kissing his forehead, and left the room chuckling about his lips tasting sweet. The Hatsume's left him to sleep on the couch for the night while he was unconscious. When he awoke in the morning, he heard people talking from the kitchen, so he got up to see what was going on.
"Hari, that was a cruel prank to do" said Mrs Hatsume with a frown. Hari just smirked as she responded to her mother.
"Who said it was a prank? I didn't mean to kiss him, but it just happened. He reminded me of a boy I had a crush on in junior high, and I never ever got to kiss him. So maybe that's why I did it" said Hari, shrugging.
Mrs Hatsume just facepalmed, grabbed her stuff and left the house. Hari turned around and saw Izuku standing in the kitchen entrance, with a shocked expression.
"Sorry for stealing your first kiss, man. I can't take it back, but I can give you more" said Hari, wiggling her eyebrows playfully. Before he could turn her offer down, she kissed him on the cheek, waving goodbye as she hurried out the house, leaving Izuku standing there starstruck. Mei stared at him from the stairs witnessing the whole thing as she angrily walked up to him and slapped him. Izuku winced at how hard she slapped him as he didn't expect her to be so mad.
"Why'd you keep letting her kiss you?" asked Mei angrily.
"I-I honestly don't know" replied Izuku.
"You're such an idiot, let's just go" said Mei, who was still flustered from the previous night's events.
She had wanted to ask him to sleep over in her room, thinking it'd be a fun time but her sister had other plans. She angrily grabbed her bag of supplies as she headed to the beach.
"Hey wait up!" yelled Izuku running after her.
[Streets of Morioh, Six Months before UA]
Izuku and Mei were walking through the street searching for Izuku's favorite restaurant. It was a place Josuke took him when he was younger that served phenomenal dishes that somehow helped whatever ailments you had.
He learned recently that the owner, Tonio Trussardi, was a stand user with the stand ability [Pearl Jam], its ability being centered around cooking and curing illnesses would really help Mei, who was feeling sick after an incident that occurred a week prior.
They decided to try building a snow cannon, however the canister containing the ice cracked due to Izuku overestimating the strength of the buildup before it launched snow. It malfunctioned covering the two in ice for 2 hours.
When they broke free, Izuku had to help her get ready to take a bath in her house because she was too weak at the moment to do anything by herself. He wasn't in any better physical condition, but he just asked [The Day] to help her into the bath. He was embarrassed but he did find her humming as she took her bath, soothing as he sat in her living room next to the Hatsume family's heater.
So, in hopes of helping her feel better from her cold, he told her about the restaurant. She agreed immediately, seeing as being sick caused them to stop their projects, she wasn't too keen on getting worse by working on projects while being sick.
The duo arrived and were greeted by Tonio, who bowed inviting them in. It was relatively empty that day. He then saw Koichi and Yukako, who were eating brunch with Josuke and Okuyasu.
"Hello!" said Izuku, greeting the Morioh gang.
"Yo Izuku, how are you doing? Finally got a girlfriend huh?" said Josuke grinning, as he ruffled Izuku's hair. Mei smiled as a slight blush crept onto her face, while Izuku shook his head.
"I came here for my friend, Mei. She's sick right now, so no better time than now for her to see how amazing this place is!" said Izuku smiling.
"That's great! At least Izuku isn't copying your bad habits like telling your friends to tough out the sickness" said Koichi, groaning.
"Yeah, if Koichi was severely sick, I would beat you up so badly Josuke" threatened Yukako.
"Yeah, yeah I understand!" said Josuke, annoyed.
"Um, are these people stand users?" asked Mei, confused. Izuku nodded as they looked at him in shock.
"You told her about your stand?!" screamed Okuyasu.
"Bad move" was all Yukako said while sipping her tea. She gave a reassuring smile to Mei after though.
"Well Mr Jotaro said it was fine plus she's my best friend! I mean if you guys didn't all have stands and only one of you did, then wouldn't you tell the others?" asked Izuku.
{Yeah} replied the quartet.
"We'll it was nice seeing you guys, I gotta get our food then I wanna take a walk around Morioh" they waved goodbye to the stand users making their way to their own table.
"Gracias, here's some water" says Tonio, bowing.
"Alright, try it" said Izuku, handing Mei the glass. She took a sip of water, then she began to spew blood all over the table.
"WHAT THE HELL IZUKU!" screamed Mei, in absolute horror. All the stand users laughed at her, making her more mad.
"What's so funny! I just spewed blood- my cold, IT'S GONE" yelled Mei happily, as she hugged Izuku tightly. Izuku and everyone smiled at her reaction.
"Now Hatsume, you can enjoy Mr Trussardi's delicious food" said Izuku, smiling. The duo enjoyed a meal that tasted like heaven itself.
"Well, I'm ready to go home. How about you?" asked Izuku
"Yup!" said Mei, grinning. Morioh sure was a weird little town, but she did find the trip enjoyable.
To Be Continued…
Hari Hatsume was inspired by user Full-Paragon, from his story Rejected Stones! I really loved his story as well the OC in particular, so I'm using the character in name only, the personality will be different. Hope you enjoyed the filler chapter, next is the Sports Festival Arc!
