Halloween Horrors
Mystery writer Richard Castle had been working on a new Halloween story for the publisher of Black Pawn Publishing as part of the Halloween tour for two weeks with his talks to the public at 12 different book stores and TV interviews.
He had fallen asleep in his office of the Loft while his wife was now on maternity leave for the next six months. She had gone out with Martha now on leave from her off-broadway show Turmoil. She had asked Kate Beckett to shop with her leaving her husband alone at the loft while the three children were at school.
Having finished up his last chapter of Halloween Horrors unaware that a serial killer was in the works for the location of the Manhattan Ice Rink with three different bodies all males will be found down inside the basement.
A garbage maintenance employee coming back from his two weeks vacation will be able to locate the first of three male bodies shot in the head and chest. Darrell Walker aged 45 years old had taken the freight elevator.
The ice Rink had the Zamboni finished the final ice cleaning of the evening when Darrell had gotten off the elevator to head for the lockers.
However, he will see a trail of red crimson on the cement floor of the lockers along with seeing the male body behind his own locker. It was at this particular time that Darrell pulled out his black iPhone to call 911 and the police.
Meanwhile, his novel Nikki Heat's Crimson was on the bottom of the cement floor as if someone was trying to break into his locker...
Speaking with the 911 dispatcher he will advise the woman over the phone that there was a male's body on the floor behind his locker asking for the police to come as well.
This is when Richard Castle woke from his falling asleep in his office only to see the news report that morning about a murder of a male body found inside the ice rink in Manhattan. He was wondering whether the 12th precinct with Sergeant Esposito and Ryan were on the job with the investigation.
Pulling out his cell phone sitting on his desk next to the computer. He needed to contact both detectives on whether or not he can join them in spite of the fact he was currently on tour.
Sergeant Esposito and Kevin Ryan working on the case very early with Inspector Victoria Gates had called them in to find out what exactly was going on.
Ryan heard his phone going off in his black jacket's pocket seeing that it was the mystery writer Richard Castle. "It's Castle, do you wish to speak with him, Javi?" Ryan seriously will say with a yawn needing a cup of black coffee to wake him.
"Talk to him, Ryan, and tell him the latest on this case." Sergeant Esposito needed to tell him with placing his notepad back into place. While the witness Darrell Walker had gone home to rest after the horror he witnessed, along with the fact he's going to be needing to speak with someone about his experience.
Ryan turned slightly to speak with Castle as he will explain the situation to him over the phone. "Are you coming here Castle?" he asked calmly with a yawn.
"Can't! I have a chat at the local Manhattan bookstore five blocks away from the ice rink. Please try to keep abreast of the latest Ryan?" he alluded by asking the question.
"Of course, Castle since I hope this doesn't turn into something else entirely?" Ryan noted placing a hand through his salt & pepper hair for the moment.
Sometime later at the Manhattan bookstore Castle after speaking with his wife and Martha having arrived back from their errands, even though all three of the kids will be driven back from the local public school bus transportation.
However unknown to Richard Castle. He was able to pull into the back entrance of the Barnes & Noble bookstore with only a few spots left open to park. Castle had been driving the Grey Mercedes noticing a lone figure sitting in a black station wagon smoking a pipe that Castle was able to notice.
However, his mind had been on the book tour and the questions he was going to be asked by his adorning public from over the years. Removing a small box of samples of books given to him by his ex-wife Gina to be handed out to those asking the questions. He will only have 20 copies of his new Nikki Heat novel Crimson for when it's going to be released in a few weeks.
The owner/manager Judith Walls age 43 years of age had been waiting for the mystery writer to arrive with the entire front part of the bookstore packed with the patrons waiting for Castle.
She was able to have helped Castle with one of his employees to set up the box on the two tables filled with other novels, flyers, and ads. She walked Castle into the back to speak with him further along with handing him a small envelope filled with his payment for coming today.
Meanwhile, the lone man in the station wagon had come into the back while keeping an eye out on the writer for now. He will begin to scan the aisles and small tables filled with Nikki Heat novels from over the years along with the Devil's Advocate's latest and his wife's journals now up to a tenth edition for different comments.
He then had taken cash out of his pocket by picking out three books of Castle's heading for the first register with a young black-haired man aged 25 years old smiling back at him as he takes the purchases. "Cash or charge, sir?" he will say to him.
He will say in a low demeanor for the moment. "Cash. Please hurry so I don't have to miss out on listening to my favorite mystery writer talking." he alluded to having said to him.
"Of course, sir." David his name will ring up his purchases with the three novels coming to almost $65.00 total placed into one of the Barnes & Noble plastic bags. "Here you go with your purchase." David was able to give him the change back with four $20.00 dollar bills that had been handed to the customer to walk away knowing who was going to be his next victim.
