Hey what's up, welcome to my first time attempting a Total Drama story. After reading stories, submitting characters, and getting to know everyone on the TD Discord servers I'm in, I was inspired to write this. The OC I'm using is one I created, and have submitted to a couple syoc's already. So get ready to see or read how Melissa will fare.

Also, I'm hoping this story will inspire me or give me energy to write my other stories, I've been trying to update them, but I haven't found the energy. So I think burn out is the culprit, but I'm not sure.

But overall, I hope you all enjoy this.

Special thanks to Alexneushoorn, BaseballCapClyde and FreshmEn for giving me feedback when I asked them to read what I had so far. It was much appreciated. They have more experience writing Melissa than I do.

I own none of the content, I only own Melissa. Please enjoy.

The scene opens up to a wooden dock, with the background having picturesque view of the surrounding wilderness and the water of the lake that opened up further. A dark haired man then popped up, wearing casual clothing.

"Yo! We're coming at you live from Camp Wawanakwa, somewhere in Mustoka, Ontario! I'm your host, Chris McLean. Dropping season one of the hottest new reality show on television, right now!"

He then started walking to the middle of the dock, but still continued to speak. "Here's the deal, 23 campers have signed up to spend eight weeks right here at this crummy old summer camp. They'll compete in challenges against each other, and then have to face the judgment of their fellow campers. Every three days, one team will either win a reward, or watch one of their team member's walk down the Dock of Shame. Take a ride on the loser boat and leave Total Drama Island, for good."

Chris then is shown at the camp fire ceremony. "Their fate will be decided here, at the dramatic camp fire ceremonies, where each week, all but one camper will receive a marshmallow. In the end, only one will be left standing and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame and a small fortune which let's face it; they'll probably blow in a week. To survive they'll have to battle black flies, grizzly bears, disgusting camp food."

He was then back at the dock." And each other. Every moment will be caught on the hundreds of cameras we have situated all over the camp and island. Who will crumple under the pressure? Find out right here, right now on. Total. Drama. Island."

-Cue Intro-

The intro starts with various cameras popping up and turning on around the island. Once a clipboard was clapped, the camera zooms towards the island, and then to the docks, where it passes by Chris who is sitting in a chair, and is talking to someone on the phone.

Dear mom and dad I'm doing fine

You guys are on my mind

The camera zooms up the cliff, and then down until it goes underwater. Owen is seen swimming underwater, and then farts, which causes a fish to faint.

You asked me what I wanted to be and I think the answer is plain to see

I wanna be famous!

The fish floated up to the surface, and so did Owen's fart. Geoff and Bridgette were sitting on the latter's board, both of them are staring at each other. But they then cringed when Owen's fart surfaced. The floating fish was then snatched up by an eagle.

The camera changed to DJ, who was in the woods and was surrounded by animals. The eagle dropped the fish, which caused the animals to attack him. DJ screamed and ran off in a panic. Duncan was nearby and laughed at his misfortune, but stopped when he noticed Courtney was giving him a disapproving look.

In another part of the woods, Melissa was jogging, but she stopped, due to hearing DJ's screaming. She was surprised to see him being chased by animals, but soon jogged after him to help.

I wanna live close to the sun

Well, pack your bags cause I already won

The camera goes to the waterfall, where Leshawna and Heather are on a inflatable raft, having a slapping fight. They then screamed when the raft and themselves, went down the waterfall. They passed Harold, who was doing fighting moves on a log. Izzy then came out of nowhere swinging on a vine, and crashed into him. They both ended up crashing into an outhouse, that soon caused it's occupant, Lindsay, to be knocked outside to the ground, but her skirt was down, and her panties were showing.

Everything to prove, nothing in my way

I'll get there one day

Cause I wanna be famous

The camera then went into the mess hall, where Chef was cooking something in a pot, but he had his hands in it. The camera panned over to Noah and Ezekiel, who were tied up, and were shaking in fear. At another part of the table, Eva beat Tyler in an arm wrestling match.

Na-na-na-na-na

Na-na-na-na

Na-na-na-na

Outside on the docks, Sadie and Katie were starring at Justin, who was shirtless and looking at himself with two mirrors. The camera panned to the water, a salmon jumped out of the water, but a shark did as well and ate it. A tentacle then came out of the water, and grabbed a floating seagull into the water.

I wanna be

I wanna be

I wanna be famous

The camera then went to Beth, who was at the end of the dock, she waved, and then started a twirling flaming baton routine. She then threw it up into the air.

I wanna be

I wanna be

I wanna be famous

It was nighttime now, Gwen and Trent were sitting next to each other at a campfire, with the latter holding his guitar. The two leaned closer, but Cody popped up between them, the camera panned out to show everyone else, including Chris, were at the campfire whistling. The camera finally stopped to show the show's title and it lit up.

Chris had already introduced all the contestants so far, but there was one left.

"And now we are onto our final contestant, she's a special case if you will." Chris said.

"I hope it isn't something to do with her looks. Like everyone is pretty on the outside, no matter how ugly they are." Lindsay happily said, even though the others were giving her perplexed looks.

Chris blinked, and said," No, there's nothing wrong with the way she looks." He then smiled." The show was originally going to have people from Canada, but the producers thought having someone from outside the country would boost viewership internationally. So without further ado, from sunny San Diego, California in the United States, meet our final contestant, Melissa!"

The contestants watched as the final boat arrived, and its American passenger disembarked.

She was a girl that was 16 years old stood at 5'6, weighted around 120 pounds, which made her skinny, but she had muscle. She was tanned, had blue eyes that had slight Asian features. She wore dark faded jeans that were ripped in the front; she wore a light grey hoodie that had 'SDSU' on it, which meant San Diego State University. She also wore a black shirt underneath and a bra, and sneakers that her white and light grey. She also had a birthmark on the right side of her face, and she had a small diamond ring on her nose and her right ear.

"Hi Chris, or how people on the island say Håfa Adai." Melissa greeted, and shook his hand.

"Is that how we were supposed to greet everyone here?" Owen asked with a head scratch.

"Actually no, that's the traditional way of saying 'Hello' in Chamorro. That means she's from Guam." Harold explained.

"That's right, props to you dude." Melissa said with a nod as she heard him.

Melissa then looked around, and saw something was off.

"Wait, this isn't a resort. What gives?"

Chris grinned and said," Yeah we lied about the resort. Welcome to Camp Wawanakwa. Not as swanky as a resort, but still nice."

Melissa raised a brow at the slightly rundown summer camp, and the obviously polluted beach.

"Well it isn't the beaches in Guam or in San Diego, but I guess this will have to do." She mused aloud and walked to the other campers.

She didn't make it far, due to tripping on a loose board, she let out a yelp, but she was saved by someone.

"Whoa there, you alright?" A voice asked, and helped her up.

Melissa looked to see a tall darn skinned teen boy who was of Jamaican-Canadian descent. He was tall and bulky, wore a white cap, a dark short sleeved green shirt with white highlights on it, along with an orange D on the center of it, short jeans and sandals. He had a short beard and black eyes.

He had a kind look to him, and he was kinda cute.

Melissa blushed, and said," I'm fine, thanks. Names Melissa."

"DJ. Welcome to Canada." DJ greeted.

Melissa was about to respond, but she then felt a tapping on her shoulder, to see Bridgette.

"Excuse me; did you say something about Guam and San Diego?"

"Yeah." Melissa said.

Bridgette smiled and said," I've surfed the beaches in San Diego, but I never been to Guam, I heard it's beautiful there."

"It pretty much is, one of the best places to go to in the Pacific." Melissa fondly said. She then held out her hand." Melissa."

"Bridgette." Bridgette said as she shook hers.

"I heard the same thing as well. I got relatives from Jamaica who've been there." DJ said.

Melissa then found herself being hugged tightly, and she laughed a little when she heard Owen said." Nice to meet you! Names Owen. I always wanted to go to the States, especially Wisconsin. I heard the cheese there is great." He said the last part, obviously thinking about it, due to the slight drool coming out of his mouth.

Melissa grinned, finding his energy infectious and said," Can't say I've been to Wisconsin. But I heard the same, dude. Nice to meet you as well." She said as she was let go, and she gave him a fist pump.

"So she's from the States? Big whoop, that's not special at all." Heather scoffed.

Melissa frowned at what she said, but she didn't say anything. She knew her type, and it was best to not let her get to her.

"Alright then, since we have everyone now. We need a group photo for the promo. Everyone on the end of the dock!" Chris ordered.

Everyone did so, and Chris got onto the boat that was used to bring Melissa to take the picture. Melissa sat down next to Bridgette and Courtney.

"Okay! One, two, three… oops! Okay, forgot the lens" Chris said as removed it, and aimed at everyone again. "Okay, hold that pose. One, tw-oh wait, cards full. Hang on."

"Come on, man. My face is starting to freeze." Leshawna said.

"Got it, okay!" Chris said as he aimed the camera at everyone. "Everyone say Wawanakwa!"

"Wawanakwa!" Everyone said.

But when they said it, the dock collapsed under them, and Chris ended up taking a picture of all of them falling into the water.

"Okay guys. Dry off and meet at the campfire pit in 10."

Once they were all dried off, Melissa and the others either sat or stood around where the camp fire ceremonies were going to take place.

"This is Camp Wawanakwa, your home for the next eight weeks. The campers sitting around you will be your cabin mates, your competition, and maybe even your friends. Ya dig?"

Melissa nodded, and said," I've been to enough track competitions and other competitions to know that. Nothing wrong with making friends while we're here as well."

"Cool, another sports lover. I'm kind of the MVP back home. Especially in running. " Tyler said and flexed.

Eva rolled her eyes with crossed arms, and said, "Please. I bet I can beat you both in a race."

Melissa smirked, and said," I'm game for that. They don't call me Road Runner back home for nothing."

Eva smirked back, and said," Oh it's on."

Melissa could say she and Eva were going to get along. She could see she had the same competitive spirit she had.

"Okay you three, save it for the first challenge. The camper who manages to stay on Total Drama Island the longest without getting voted off will win $100,000." Chris explained.

"Excuse me. What will the sleeping arrangements be? Because I'd like to request a bunk under her." Duncan said as he pointed at Heather.

Heather gave him a look of disgust, and asked." They're not co-ed, are they?"

"No, girls get one side of each cabin and dudes get the other."

Melissa giggled at Lindsay asking if she could get a lake view, but blinked at Katie and Sadie hoping they would be together on a team. That made her think on how that would be in issue in the future, if she was placed on a team with the both of them.

Although she frowned when she noticed Duncan was giving a deer a noogie, and wondered how he managed to catch it.

"Okay, here's the deal. We're going to split you all up into two teams. If I call your name out go stand over there. Gwen, Trent, Heather, Cody, Beth, Lindsay, Katie, Owen, Leshawna, Justin, and Noah."

Once they were together, Chris handed the banner to Owen. "From this moment on, you are officially known as, the Screaming Gophers."

Owen opened the banner to show a Gopher screaming fiercely.

"Yeah! I'm a gopher! Wooo!" Owen cheered.

"The rest of you. Geoff, Bridgette, DJ, Melissa, Sadie, Izzy, Courtney, Ezekiel, Tyler, Duncan, Eva, and Harold. The other side."

"But Katie's a gopher! I have to be a gopher!" Sadie pleaded.

Melissa went over to Sadie, placed her hand on her shoulder, and said," Hey, there's no need to worry, Sadie. Just because you guys are on separate teams, doesn't mean you can't still hang out when there isn't challenges. C'mon."

Sadie complied but she yelled back to Katie." I miss you Katie!"

"I miss you too!" Katie called back.

Melissa held back a sigh, this was going to be a problem going forward, but it was manageable.

Once the others were together, Chris tossed it over, and Melissa caught it with her hand, before Harold could catch it. She smiled sheepishly, and handed it to him. He nodded, and opened it up to show a fierce looking bass.

"You guys will be officially known as… The Killer Bass!" Chris said.

"Awesome! It's like… amazing!" Harold said with smile.

"Cool." Melissa said with a nod, but then noticed something. "Uh Chris, the teams are uneven, that isn't fair."

Chris shrugged, and said, "Well you're going to have to deal with it. All right campers, you and your team will be on camera in all public areas this competition."

Melissa frowned, she didn't' like an unfair competition, she preferred it to be even, and fair. But from the looks of it, it was going to be final, and she had to live with it.

-Confessional (Chris)-

"You will also be able to share your innermost thoughts on tape with video diaries anytime you want." Chris explained as he was in an outhouse that had a camera in it. "Let the audience at home know what you're really thinking. Or just get something off your chest."

-Confessional (Melissa)-

Melissa looked around, and then said with a smile," Well here I am. I hope to have a fun time here, compete and make friends. To everyone back home, I love and miss you guys, and I'm going to try my hardest and win! Even though I know have slim chance at winning, due to the number of people here. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to try my hardest. So look out everyone. Later."

"All right, any questions? Cool. Let's find your cabins. Gophers, you're on the east cabin. Bass, you're in the west."

Melissa grabbed her suitcase, and walked over to the cabin, and looked inside. It was normal cabin, which had a couple of bunk beds and other furniture inside.

"Huh rustic, so I'm taking the bottom on the far right bunk. Any takers for the top one?" She asked the others when she stuck her head out of the cabin.

"Excuse me Chris? Is there like a chaperone of any kind in this facility?" Geoff asked.

"Your al 16 years old, the same age as a counselor in training in a regular summer camp. So other than myself. you'll be unsupervised. You've got half an hour to unpack and meet me back at the main lodge, starting now." Chris said.

"I'll take the bottom one." Bridgette said to Melissa.

"Cool. Things are going to be wild." Melissa said with a smirk, and winked at Geoff.

She and Bridgette giggled at the look Geoff had. DJ had heard it and patted Geoff on the shoulder.

"She was just joking man."

Geoff chuckled nervously, and said," Right, uh I knew that."

-Confessional (Melissa)-

"I meant that as a joke. I have the common sense, and I've been on my own when meets and other competitions are out of town before."

Melissa was setting up her stuff, but she jumped as she heard a very loud scream.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

Melissa ran to where she heard the scream, and looked inside the Gophers girls' cabin, along with others. She looked inside to see a terrified Lindsay.

"Man that white girl can scream." Leshawna said in awe.

"What is it? Kill it, kill it!" Lindsay said in disgust and horror.

Melissa looked down, and rolled her eyes at what she saw. It was normal cockroach. But she was more surprised when DJ let out a girlish scream, jumped and both landed/broke one of the beds.

The others screamed and tried to stomp on it. Melissa let in a breath, and let out a shrill whistle. The others stopped, and looked at her.

"Everyone stay calm, I got this." She calmly said.

She found a rag, scooped up the cockroach in it, and tossed it out the window. She wiped her hands, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Aw man, I wanted to smash it." Duncan said, as he held an axe, where he got that, was anyone's guess.

Tyler went over to Lindsay, who was hiding behind DJ, and said," If you ever see one of those again, just let me know okay? Cause you know, I could do that too." He said with a smile.

Lindsay swooned, while Duncan scoffed.

"They always go for the jocks."

Melissa went over to DJ, and held her hand out.

"You helped me up last time. Bout time I repaid the favor."

DJ nodded, took her hand, and got up.

"Thanks." DJ said with a smile, and Melissa blushed a little.

Harold leaned over to Duncan and whispers," Guess it applies to the opposite sex as well."

Duncan pushed Harold away from him, not liking his personal space being invaded. Although he had to agree with him.

After the half an hour was up, everyone went to the mess hall, waiting to be served their food. The person serving and the cook was a bulky black man who looked like someone who should be in the military, instead of someone serving food to people.

"Listen up! I serve it three times a day and you'll eat it three times a day! Grab a tray, get your food, and sit your butts down NOW!" Chef Hatchet yelled.

Both Beth and Harold tried to ask a question, but all the latter got was Chef yelling in his face to shut up. And also threatened Owen when the big guy made a remark about his attitude.

Everyone looked to be frightened by the cook, but Melissa didn't bat an eye, and it looked like she was smirking a bit. When it was her turn, she witnessed Chef smashing a hammer into Gwen's food when she made the remark about her food was moving. Melissa blinked at her food when she was served.

"You got a problem, States?" Chef asked with a growl.

"No sir, thank you sir!" Melissa said as she stood at attention and did a perfect salute, as if she had done it before.

She saw it a brief moment, but it looked Chef smirked and did a quick nod at it. She then walked over to the Bass's table, and sat between Bridgette and Courtney.

"So what was that when you were up there?" Bridgette asked.

"Yeah, it looked like you done it before." Courtney remarked.

Melissa casually shrugged, and took a hesitant bite of her food, and found it to be okay.

"Experience, I'll explain later."

-Confessional (Melissa)-

Melissa is sitting down, with her hands in her hoodie pockets.

"Back home my Track Coach is a former Marine. He was also a Drill Instructor, so he put some of his teachings into the training and practices. He can be scary when he wants to, but overall he's a pretty nice guy, and looks out for us. Hey Coach! Hope you and the team are doing good!"

She said the last part with a wave.

As everyone was eating, or were trying to eat, Chris came into the mess hall.

"Welcome to the Main Lodge everyone. How's the food?" He asked.

"Yo, my man. Can we order a pizza?" Geoff asked, and then had to duck when a cleaver almost took his head off.

Chef glared at him, while also holding a large and sharp knife. This made Geoff and everyone else gulp.

"Whoa! I-it's cool G! Brown slop is good! Hehehe… right guys?"

Everyone nodded nervously or hid, not wanting to incur the wrath of the cook.

Chris chuckled, and said," Your first challenge begins, in one hour!" He said and walked outside.

"What do you think they'll make us do?" Katie asked DJ nervously.

DJ shrugged, and said casually," It's our first challenge, how hard can it be?"

Melissa thought about it as well, and couldn't help but think DJ was right. She's watched shows like these before, and the first challenges were always easy.

Unfortunately DJ and Melissa would eat their words/thoughts an hour later, when everyone, who had changed into their bathing suits, were all looking down nervously on the high cliff they were going to jump off.

"Oh shit." DJ muttered.

Melissa gulped as she looked down, and found herself agreeing with him.

I will be honest, you would think being your OC's creator would make them easier to write, but I was nervous, but I think I did a good job.

Tell me how I did please, it will be much appreciated.

Till next time, which will probably be now, considering both chapters are back-to-back.
