Once again I quote: "I want to go to blue alert! Are you sure sir? it does mean changing the bulb."

The whole academy was shocked by the attack but the investigation revealed nothing, the students were asked to volunteer their wands for inspection and all of them did, Draco Malfoy was terrified but his wand also showed no offensive spells, he was certain it had been him as he had a missing slot of time during the attack,

"Don't worry Draco, I used a spare wand hidden in the lining of your trunk under a cleaver little variation of the notice me not, you will not get into trouble and should not for attacking that animal,"

Draco began to worry, when faced with the pure hatred coming from the diary he realized he simply liked to feel superior and seeing the hurt of that girl was not something he wanted to repeat, but no matter how much he wanted to he couldn't throw the book away or tell anyone he knew he was under a spell of some sort but he couldn't break it, he really didn't want to ask but he had to know,

"did my father know about you when he gave you to me?" he hoped please no,

"Of course he did, I would never hand a piece of my soul to someone I didn't trust" the young Tom Riddle in the diary had no idea how deranged and twisted he would become or that he would mutilate his own soul so much.

Draco was unaware that at night when he went to sleep his body would be used by tom who took a small egg out of the trunk and with the hidden wand cast many spells on the egg with a smile on his face, his task for the night done he hid the egg and wand and went back to bed Draco none the wiser, he didn't want the boy to know as the fear he would feel could break him out of control and that couldn't happen.

About two months passed and it was mid November, Harry and his friends were doing well at their studies and life seemed fairly normal until one night a fire started at the base of the dormitories of Harry's house, at first it was no big deal until they found that water wouldn't put it out and they realized they were dealing with an uncontrolled fiendfyre, the whole staff banded together to try to control it and aurors were called, the staff were terrified about the children and nearly exhausted themselves trying to open a path but the staff alone couldn't control it enough, it was looking bad as the academy had wards to stop portkeys and apparition but fortunately there was Harry, he called the kitchen house elves and they quickly popped all the students to the kitchens, allowing the staff to maintain control until help arrived, it took the better part of a few days but the fire was eventually extinguished and yet as before the culprit was undiscovered the room it began in was a locked classroom so they were not certain how it started or who started it, when asked who called the house elves most students said they assumed it was the staff who sent them.

Tom was very happy, he was slowly gaining control over the boy and his egg was progressing nicely, the creature wouldn't survive long but the damage it would do to this nest of filth was perfect, he was nearly ready to unleash it his control would be complete and he would soon have a new body, the only drawback was he needed to be close to the creature to control it but that was fine he would enjoy the show.

Christmas had come and once again the academy had outdone itself, the towers had been glamoured to look like giant red and white candy canes, the dining hall was decorated with it's usual crystal christmas trees and a gentle constant snowfall that never hit the ground, Madam Maxine however looked a little troubled as she had received a letter and seemed to be animatidly talking about it to the other staff, Harry and his friends barely noticed the commotion at the head table as Harry was explaining what he had received from his grandfather, hidden in his locker were two large glowing gems set in stands which had a goblet affixed in just the right place, one for Harry and one for Mina, he read the letter to them that morning:

My dear Grandson,

Enclosed are the two stones I was able to produce, I have set the into stands that should allow consumption of the potion while in animal form, unfortunately unless really important I will not produce any more of these stones due to the several large craters from the many failures it took to make these two, the world already has one grand canyon heh.

As for the control plate for your outfit, it is a very complex rune scheme which will take longer to complete I am taking a break for a week or so due to not wanting to be bludgeoned by your grandmother, or run over by one of her cars while I am thinking about that she and Sirius are really enjoying tinkering with vehicles and so far I have convinced them to stick to cars and bikes especially after your godfather mentioned something called a tank? is that something I should worry about?

Nick,

Draco Malfoy didn't look too much different due to his normally pale skin and hair, but had he been anyone else it would have been obvious something was wrong, he avoided main meals and the school healers without even realizing he was, the control Tom had over him was almost complete and as the new year started and the students returned he wandered into the forest a grin spreading across his face as he once again lost control of himself.

Voldemort waved his wand over the egg it's once healthy looking shell greyed and pitted, and as he finished the shell cracked and a creature emerged growing unnaturally, it's skin pulled tight over it's muscle and bones a human like face gaunt and sunken with large fangs and a grey lions mane and body tipped with a scorpion tail, this was a manticore but it was almost an undead insult of it's usual form, this mindless creature starving and in agony obayed it's master and sprinted towards the school.

Gilderoy Lockheart was quite surprised when he received a letter from Madam Maxine, he knew of Beauxbatons and highly approved of it's ways, if someone could use magic they should have the opportunity to learn it regardless of what blood flowed through them was something he had always believed, and now it seemed that his fame had allowed someone else in need to seek him out, it had been one of his favorite interviews when the interviewer had asked,

"Mr Lockheart, we have all seen your books but some have asked why you promote yourself so much? isn't it more fitting for a hero to be low key and refuse rewards?"

Gilderoy chuckled, "I won't deny the gold is nice, it allows me to buy better quality protection for myself, which in turn allows me to help more people, I have never claimed I did it all myself you only need to read my books to see that most of the time I was simply helping someone who was either in need or themselves protecting others, as for the fame I hope it will inspire others to take a stand when they can, or better yet ask for help, if someone is in need I hope they will ask me or someone near them rather than try to shoulder the burden alone, many times I would have died had I been fighting alone,"

He had to admit the Abraxion were striking creatures, and hard to miss, it was his first time seeing them and they made quite the first impression, he was mobbed by fans when he climbed aboard and cheerily signed pictures and books and a mundane camera, after a while things began to settle down and the students returned to their seats and they began to move.

Hagrid wasn't the smartest wizard around but there was one thing he was good at, looking after magical creatures, he could almost understand them, their moods and wants, it was like he instinctively knew what to do and what they were feeling, and when the forest went silent he knew by the hair raising on the back of his neck something was wrong, he grabbed his crossbow and a massive handaxe and headed for the academy, he knew the students would be landing soon and headed for the paddock where the coaches would touch down.

Harry, Mina, Fleur and Brice had found a little secluded place at the top of one tower, the room was usually used for larger lectures but was due to be empty for a month so no one would come up here, Fleur and Brice stood outside waiting and acting as misdirection should it be needed Brice was wearing Harry's med-e-specs because he was curious what they actually did, while Harry and Mina were inside mina was making short work of the potion, lapping it up easily, Harry was slower due to the fact he had a beak not a mouth.

Hagrid was tense, he could feel something coming, his instincts told him so, his nerves on edge, he had placed himself between the forest and the landing pad as his instincts were screaming at him the danger was coming from the forest, he glanced up as the carriages came into view as they passed the wards and lined up for a landing, he grew increasingly more worried and he could see the abraxion looked very nervous as they landed, it was then he hear it the thumping of something running.

Madam Maxine watched the carriages land but she also noticed the fear of her beloved abraxions, she also saw Hagrid standing looking into the forest with his bow and an axe, before she could ask him she saw it, and her blood ran cold, she pulled her wand and flicked it freeing the abraxion who quickly took flight she then cast a sonorous and ordered all students inside as a wild manticore had been spotted.
