All those left on the battle field, demon and human alike, watched as the last scene of the final battle played out before their very eyes. This one fight is the one that will change the world, deciding its fate because the one who wins will control this world and the Shikon no Tama.

Kagome's POV

'Why did this happen? Why is the weight of the world resting me?' I wanted to scream, yell at those who had caused this pain. The pain of… 'NO! I can't think of that not now, later, that's when I'll cry.'

I felt my sword fly out of my hand as the monster before me laugh, thinking he had won. It probably looked like he did, he was lifting me into the air by the clawed hand that had pierced my stomach coming out through my back. He was looking at me smirking, but not for long.

Author's POV

Naraku was smirking at the miko for only a moment before his face became twisted in pain, so intense that he dropped Kagome to garb his arm. The skin on his arm looked like it was being burned off by acid. Naraku's eyes flashed red as he looked at the women trying to stand up.

"What did you do to me?" Naraku's voice traveled over the silent battle field, filled with immense pain.

"Nothing, you sentenced yourself to death by spilling miko blood on your skin." Her voice was strong and steady even with the fist size whole in her stomach.

"You didn't win this!" He snarled at her like it would ease the pain.

"Yes I have." Kagome watched him with a small satisfied smile on her face. "Your life will be over, that's what I've fought for. So what if it was at the cost of my own life?"

With that Kagome fell to the gound, her eyes, even as the life drained from them, watched as Naraku's body burned away leaving nothing behind.

A pink light washed over the battle feild distroying the final warriors from Naraku's army. While turning the once blood soaked ground into a lush field. In the center was a large sakura tree in full bloom… where Kagome's body had just fallen.

A soft, sad voice traveled over the feild calming all those who heard it.

Morning smiles

Like the face of a newborn child

Innocent unknowing

Winter's end

Promises of a long lost friend

Speaks to me of comfort

But I fear

I have nothing to give

I have so much to lose here in this lonely place

Tangled up in your embrace

There's nothing I'd like better than to fall

But I fear

I have nothing to give

Wind in time

Rapes the flower trembling on the vine

And nothing leads to shelter it

From above

They say temptation will destroy our love

The never ending hunger

But I fear

I have nothing to give

I have so much to lose here in this lonely place

Tangled up in our embrace

There's nothing I'd like better than to fall

But I fear

I have nothing to give

I have so much to lose

I have nothing to give

We have so much to lose

"Hello Sesshomaru. Hello Enma. We have much to discus." As they looked up into the branches of the sakura tree the saw Kagome sitting there smiling at them.
