Hermione was biting her fingernails.
"Hermione, you're biting your fingernails."
She looked at him quizzically, like she thought there should be more to his obvious statement. She continued gnawing.
"You don't bite your fingernails."
She took her fingers out of her mouth and raised an eyebrow. "Since when would you notice?"
His ears turned red and he lowered himself in his chair.
And her fingers were back in her mouth.
