Lily didn't want it anymore. She couldn't take it. She couldn't take it, so she ran. She ran as hard as she could out of the Great Hall, out of the huge castle, away from the horrible laughter from the Slytherins. She ran straight into the rain.

What she didn't know was that someone ran behind her. Someone who followed her to the top of the grassy hill overlooking the lake. Someone whose heart broke for each and every tear that fell from her emerald eyes.

"Lily." Lily didn't need to turn around to tell who was behind her. She knew his voice better than anyone.

"What Potter? Can't you ever just leave me the hell alone?" She awaited an arrogant remark, but it didn't come. Instead she felt hot air on her neck and two strong yet gentle hands on her arms. As much as she wanted and tried to pull away, he wouldn't let her go.

"Lily stop pushing me away!" He didn't sound angry. It was more of a plea. She stopped struggling but didn't face him. She didn't move, not until she felt his hot breath against her ear, causing her to shiver. "Lily, why do you let them get to you? They're not worth crying over. You-"

She spun around as fast as she could and broke away from his grasp. "James Potter, you asshole, how dare you! You of all people have no right to say that to me! Mr. Pureblood, can't understand why 'Mudblood' hurts when it's what I am right? God dammit I didn't choose to be like this! You think I like being muggleborn? You have no idea! You---you---"

She finally fell to her knees and broke down. She couldn't stop herself. She hoped he would just leave her there. But he sat down next to her and hugged her. She fell into him and laid her head on his chest. It just felt so right.

"Shh, Lily it's ok. You misunderstood what I said." She looked up at him. He was completely drenched from the rain, but he made no attempts to stand up off the wet ground. He didn't let her go but simply put a hand on her cheek. "Lily, what I meant was I don't understand how they get to you. Yes, you're muggleborn. But you're still a witch. The smartest and hardest working witch. The sweetest and most caring witch who has tons of great friends. The most amazing witch who is going to go the farthest in life and make the luckiest guy the happiest husband. The most beautiful witch," he slowly inched his face closer to hers until they were inches apart, "who stole my heart a long time ago."

She had stopped crying but felt as though she could any second. Is that really how he sees me? "James I-"

But before she could finish, he captured her lips with his. And before she knew it, she was kissing him back. It was truly like nothing they'd ever felt before. It was gentle, yet passionate. Lily shivered as James slowly teased her lips with his tongue, begging for entry. The passion and hunger for each other grew as Lily joined in with her own tongue, teasing him back. They kissed as long as they could, finally breaking apart. James placed his forehead against hers and they just stared at each other.

"You're also the only witch I love."

Lily giggled quietly. "I love you too James."

They stood up and kissed again. As they walked hand-in-hand back toward the castle, James kept looking up at the sky, letting the rain fall on his face. Lily just beamed at him and laughed.

"You're cute wet James."
