The 1980s was a decade of death and destruction for the entire world. In the year of 1982, filled with hatred and desire for vengeance for the humiliation of the Second Great War, the Soviet Union, now fully remilitarized under Premier Alexander Romanov with the support of the PsiCorps of Stalin-era mysterious psychic advisor known only as Yuri, had declared war and launched a massive invasion on the United States of America, officially starting the Third Great War. The action completely took the Western powers by surprise, since Romanov had been cooperative with the victors of Second World War for years, and even tension was rising elsewhere forcing the Allied to withdraw from Soviet Union territories he had been showing friendship and cooperation to the West still. Many assumed that the mysterious Yuri had something to do with it, though it did not matter now, for the fire of war had started and there was no turning back.

To further complicate matters, the People Republic of China and the newly established Latin Confederation composed of communist revolutionary states in Central and South America had also joined the war against the USA, with the PRC launching a massive naval operation on the West Coast while Latin Confederation tanks drove through their southern border. The United States would have used the Peacekeeper ICBM system to launch nuclear retaliation against the invasion, but they had been infiltrated and sabotaged for unknown reasons; and it was only long after the Third World War that the involvement of psychic infiltrators and the use of mental-manipulation by the Soviet Union PsiCorps was found.

The war became a blood bath once the United States began to reorganize and counterattack, as well as the tenacity of the American people in the defense of their homeland and their freedom, bleeding both themselves and the invaders dried in the streets of New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C, etc... rather than to let the communist advance even an inch. Yet for all of their heroism and sacrifices, it was not enough. The deployment of strange devices, later identified as large-scale mind-control network nodes called Psychic Beacon or Psychic Amplifier depending on the power, brought entire swathes of USA territories and population under Soviet control without much resistance at all. And where they could not build these mind-control devices, they simply wiped the entire city off the Earth surface via the use of the MIDAS thermonuclear warheads.

As the United States was pushed further and further into desperation as the war grinded on, so was their ally European Alliance and Pacific Front. However, at this point, alliances on both sides had already begun to fracture and devolved into a 'each man for himself' scenario. Canadian and Japanese troops in Canada instead of helping their ally in the south opted to salvage and take with them with whatever of American advanced laser and orbital strike satellites technologies as much as they could to fortify their own homeland in Europe and Japan respectively like vultures feasting on a carrion. Meanwhile, Soviet Union and PRC tension was just begin to rise due to China refusing to let the Russian join them in the invasion of Pacific Front holdings in Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia. Then the inevitable happened: America had splintered apart and lost nearly all control of its territories to the Soviet Union; yet, the American Dream lived on as the remnants of the military and armed citizen continued to resist the occupation from the ruins of their once prosperous cities and elsewhere in the wilderness of the Midwest and the Rocky mountains.

Europe mainland also fell beneath the advancing combined Soviet-China war machine, leaving only the British Isles as the sole survivor of the onslaught, barely holding onto themselves thanks to the use of reverse American laser technology in the form of GLADIUS ASAT/ABM network that prevent the Soviet from using MIDAS on the isles and forced the reds to face against the traditionally superior UK Royal Navy. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, the Pacific Front had also capitulated under relentless Chinese assaults, their coalition torn between the pro-Chinese traitors and Allied loyalists who would continue to help out the war efforts in Europe by smuggling important industrial experts and scientists out of their territories. No bad deed goes unpunished, and the American would have their vengeance satisfied seeing that those vultures who had abandoned their allies also suffered the same fate.

Just as though it seemed to look like a new era of a Comintern-dominated world was about to begin, the communist alliance between Soviet Union and China collapsed as the latter launched a massive invasion into Primorsky Krai through Manchuria, hoping to knock out the Soviet Union and take the mantle of hegemon of the new world order for themselves. The invasion failed, but it had exposed many weaknesses within the Soviet Union military and political apparatuses that were vulnerable to be exploited, and that it did. Unbeknownst to the Russian, the mysterious Yuri and his PsiCorps had not been so... loyal as they thought.

The world was in a state of fragile peace for two years, until a massive upheaval shook the Soviet Union to their very core. During the Victory Parade on the anniversary of their victory in the Third World War on September 1st, 1984, the Soviet Premier Romanov was assassinated in broad daylight on live television. And before the shock could even subside, a massive military coup was carried out all over Moscow by the PsiCorps, now declaring themselves as the Epsilon Army - and they had but only one goal: to command, and conquer the entire world, enforcing only one will upon humanity. Elsewhere in Soviet-occupied territories in America and European nations, similar occurrences also happened to their local general-governors completely replaced by Epsilon's own forces. The mind-control network, once the precious gem of the Soviet Union, now became its biggest threat as the Epsilon turned the power of the mind against their former overlord.

And thus, the Mental Omega War began.

Just as the Soviet Union was crumbling away from internal instability, elsewhere the remnants of the Allied Nations began to regain the initiative. The American rebels had managed to slowly, but surely retake their lost territories, while European forces, aided with loyalist Pacific Front units, launched multiple liberation operations throughout the Mediterranean regions. However, after a while, the Allied forces had been deceived into attacking a bait, and leaving their British Isles homebase exposed for a large-scale Epsilon invasion. With the capitulation of the world's last bastion of freedom in jeopardy, they had no choice but to reveal their card early - a flying machine with the power of the God, called the Paradox Engine. Time ceased to flow literally, and the invaders were wiped out to the last man. But in doing so, they had exposed how much of a threat the British Isles were to the Soviet and Epsilon alike. While the Soviet Union was busy dealing with the traitor Yuri, it did not mean they would not attack the Paradox Task Force and the remnants of Allied Nations forces. And that was not to mention that the focus of Epsilon would be most likely to overwhelm the British Isles with the Psychic Amplifier in France. With no other options, they decided to cut off the snake head. With intelligence earned through the sacrifice of many agents, they learned about the true headquarters of the Epsilon Army deep in Antarctica, and decided to throw the entire weight of the free world survivors there in one last desperate gambit.

While the Allied was pushing south, the Soviet Union had reorganized and once more marched to retake their Motherland and destroyed the traitor Yuri once and for all. Yet, infighting among allies persisted from the last war. Despite the brief hope about a renewed Soviet-China alliance through the Battle of Singapore, that dream once more became a pipe dream with Soviet constant covert intervention in order to destroy Chinese high tech weapon research centers. It was also during one of these Soviet secret operations that a new renegade element within the PLA's own ranks emerged. Disillusioned by the lack of caution of the PLA high command and the Politburo regarding mind-control risk and the insidious grand scheme of Yuri, even in the face of overwhelming evidences provided by their own intelligence and collaboration with the Scorpion Cell in Middle East, the 55th PLA Mountaineer Division had only become emboldened to follow their own path after their Kashmir homebase was taken over by pro-Soviet Latin Confederation military and later assaulted by Epsilon task force moving up from southern India.

The Soviet continued to chase after the traitor Yuri all the way to the literal moon with rocketships and back to Earth, while China continued to sit idly by within their borders, contending with just defending themselves and taking care of the now openly rebellious 55th Division and recapture Yunru - the 'perfect child', their prodigy and China greatest weapon researcher and engineer. A series of engagements broke out between the now branded traitor 55th as they made their escape in order to carry out their own agenda, and the Chinese mainland had only really returned to a tenuous peace after the 55th PLA escaped along with a few Pacific Front loyalists across the Pacific Ocean.

Unbeknown to them, the 55th PLA Mountaineer Division had landed in South America along with the remaining elements of Pacific Front loyalists. After a few brief but intense battles against the Latin Confederation national guard units, they managed to push their ways through to the Brazilian-side of the Amazonas Jungles, where they met up with the Paradox Task Force to discuss a cooperation against Yuri. The 55th PLA Division was then given some resources and loaned with a few under-strength companies before being sent north toward Alaska to establish a refuge there to evacuate the remaining of the free world there according to a contingency plan, while the Paradox Task Force and the Allied Nations continued to steam toward the main Epsilon Headquarters in Antarctica. Meanwhile, the Soviet forces gathered by the famous General of the previous wars had made their return from Luna Fortress and swatted aside any Epsilon resistance, until they were finally once more in the old capital of Moscow, ready for one last fight against the treasonous Yuri and his minions. The curtain had finally been drawn for the finale of mankind's destiny.

The sky darkened, lightning storms raged. Antarctica melted from the heat of firepower and the incessant rain of bombs and explosions as the Allied forces threw whatever they had left against the Epsilon Army, desperate to use every once of their remaining energy to ensure the future of a free humanity. They were close to do so, but in the end, it was still not enough to turn the tide. The Mental Omega Device - the ultimate trump card of Yuri in order to mind control the entire world, and also the reason why the Allied had been so suicidal in their rush toward the icy continent - would soon come to live and bring the entirety of mankind into its fold despite the heavy damage it received from nonstop waves after waves of heavy assaults. Left with no choice, the remaining survivors of the Allied decided to enact their contingency plan and withdraw from Antarctica, making a teleportation jump toward Point Hope which had now been secured by their ally from the 55th PLA Division, by then had reorganized themselves into the 1st Haihead Regiment.

Whereas the unlikely confederation of the renegade Chinese and Allied militaries made haste to secure and fortify their new home against the upcoming darkness, elsewhere in the vast lands of Russia, the Soviet General had emerged victorious from the ruins of the Battle of Moscow. The traitor had been executed, and the Motherland was liberated - or so they thought. Garbled transmission from their outposts in Vladivostok, which in turn received warning from the Haihead Regiment in Alaska, had revealed to them that the traitor Yuri was all but only a ruse to keep them busy from knowing the true extent of his scheme. From being the victors, they would soon be the victims. Panic and hysteria broke loose as the Soviet General evacuated everyone, be it soldiers or civilians as far north toward Murmansk as they could. Rocketships were sent back from Luna Fortress to then begin transporting everyone into the new Soviet home up on the Moon. But alas, there were only so many rocketships to save everyone, and wailing goodbyes and farewells, many were left behind on Earth to survive on their own, if they were lucky not to be mind-controlled by the Device in Antarctica.

The Chinese-Allied confederation had consolidated themselves into a new Earth-based resistance organization, marking the birth of the Foehn Revolution Front. And they would then soon face a baptism by fire which would test the will and conviction of this new union to carry on mankind's struggle for freedom in the face of oppression, with the Foehn battle lines holding out and each man and woman fought to their dying breath, safeguarding the teleported husk of the Paradox Engine so that the scientists could repair it for one last gambit to preserve humanity freedom for the future to come. Alas, despite suffering heavy losses, the Time Barrier had come to live, separating the outside world with the Foehn new homeland around Point Hope and protecting them from the Mental Omega Device encroaching psychic waves.

The free humans would survive for another day. Their new home would have enough resources for them to expand and build up their forces. But their turtle shell would not hold forever, and they knew it. Soon, they would have to once more step foot into the lost world, so that they could liberate mankind.
