A/N Hello everyone. This is my first attempt at a Danny Phantom fanfiction. I recently got back into the series after years of it kinda just fading into my memory. I was a huge fan when it was airing and was only a bit older than Danny and his friends at the time, I guess I would have been the same age as Jazz in that regard. Now that I've gotten back into it after over a decade away I randomly ended up going down this giant rabbit hole that I never even knew existed where Danny and Ember are shipped together. Not once in my life had I ever thought of them being together prior to getting back into the series. Once I found out about it and processed it I became obsessed and now I'm crazy for Phantom Rocker. I think it's SO much more interesting than Danny x Sam and as a result I learned about Ember's backstory being told by the show writers and saw the video where Butch Hartman did his whole 10 years later thing and such. Now I have come up with my own story idea where I completely rewrite the show in my own way where Danny and Ember become a couple. It is important to note that this story starts immediately after the episode Fanning The Flames ends, so well before it is ever mentioned that Ember dated Skulker (ew). It is also important to note that at that point in the show Danny did NOT have the famous DP logo on his chest yet, so this story starts with him still having just a plain black jumpsuit. Hope you all enjoy the story and please remember to leave reviews, they are very much appreciated.

October 12, 2004
The blue eyed dark haired boy had his eyes glued to the computer screen in front of him and any passerby would think they were looking at a room full of zombies.
His best friend was in the same state as she had an endless amount of knowledge crammed into her brain. She couldn't even be sure she had blinked in the last thirty minutes or not.
Danny Fenton and Sam Manson were currently sitting at their desks with the rest of their classmates wearing alien looking domes on their head. These helmets were giving all the students their cramming sessions and making all the students look completely brainwashed. If Danny was able to properly think at the moment he would find it somewhat ironic considering he'd just stopped a rock and roll ghost the night before from using her brainwashing ghost powers on the entire world.
It had only started about two hours ago but Danny was already feeling like he was beginning to lose his mind with this crazy device attached to it. It made him feel like his brain was being attacked and sucked out of him rather than what it was actually doing. But despite the bizarre way this was making him feel he had already seen firsthand that this technique does work. His other best friend Tucker had been stuck with it for a whopping twelve hours the day before and the result of that was him basically becoming a super human in terms of intelligence. Though it was unlikely to have a lasting effect it was certainly impressive in the short run considering he scored a perfect grade on the standardized exam and even brought the whole class average up by himself.
Over the last two hours Danny had been crammed full of knowledge from mathematics and science. He was pretty sure he just absorbed more knowledge in those two hours than the rest of his fourteen years of life combined. Thankfully unlike Tucker he wasn't left completely alone and tied to a chair. Now that they were at the two hour mark the teachers had decided that it was time to give the students a break.
Danny wasn't even aware at first that the dome had been removed from his head. His teacher Mr. Lancer had to turn his computer monitor off to snap him out of his dazed state. Shaking his head Danny put his open palm against his forehead and tried to remember what exactly was going on.
"Oh man, now I know what it really feels like to have your brain throbbing, I think it's punching at my skull in there," said Danny blinking his eyes several times, pretty sure they were blood shot.
"Yeah, I know what you mean," said Sam rubbing her eyes and standing up to stretch her legs. "And I thought what Ember was doing yesterday was crazy to the world. Which would you say feels weirder, what's going on right now or when she put you under that love spell?" As soon as she mentioned the love spell Sam winced a bit and blushed. She hadn't even processed that thought before bringing it up.
Danny blushed a bit too remembering the feeling of being head over heels for Sam temporarily.
"Um, well...I uh...guess I don't really remember all that well how I felt during that whole ordeal," said Danny only somewhat truthfully. He actually did partially remember everything that happened but it was really hazy. He wasn't exactly fond of the memory of him meditating with a wad of Sam's old chewing gum and a lock of her hair sitting on his bed.
"Yeah, um, I guess that definitely makes sense," said Sam rubbing her arm nervously as she tried to hide her blush by turning to the side.
"Well, we only have twenty minutes to breathe before we get locked back into the brain sucker here, we should probably move around a little bit. Also I think my throat is a dry as the Sahara Dessert right now," said Danny trying to wet his mouth with his tongue.
"I'm with you on that one, I feel the same way. I think I could drink a river," said Sam as the two friends headed out into the hallway to get a drink.
Sam went through the door first followed by Danny. No sooner did he step out when he was run over from behind by the giant meathead known as Dash Baxter.
"Hey Fen-toad, ever heard of making way for your superiors?" asked Dash with a smirk as he walked right past Danny on the ground laughing.
"Grrrrrrrrrr," said Danny simply wishing he could just go ghost and teach that brainless ape a lesson.
"Easy Danny, I know what you want to do but it just isn't worth it," said Sam frowning at the passing jock. Looking in the direction of Dash made Sam feel her own sort of frustration. Just the previous night she had been forced to desperate lengths of helping Danny by kissing that very boy. Unfortunately she still hadn't completely gotten the taste of failure removed from her mouth despite brushing her teeth five times since.
Pulling his face off the tile Danny looked at the backside of the bully that was constantly tormenting him. At that very moment another popular student walked right past him looking really entitled and smug with her long hair and wearing her pink crop top.
"Well, I think you may have found your calling in life, losers do after all make great doormats," said Paulina Sanchez with a smirk down at Danny. She then continued walking down the hall as if she were royalty. Though with several boys practically drooling when she walked by it only encouraged her to keep it up. She did after all live to be worshipped and adored by those she deemed to be beneath her.
"And yet you still would probably trade just about anything to go on a date with her wouldn't you," said Sam with a look of disappointment towards Danny.
"Well it'd be a lot easier if a certain white haired alter ego was allowed to go instead," said Danny watching the beauty of Casper High walk away. Sam once again rolled her eyes in disappointment. It amazed her how boys could fall for such a shallow witch whose beauty was barely even skin deep.
Getting back to his feet the two friends made a quick bathroom call before heading to the water fountain. Each of them took quite a long time drinking to help get rid of the dry feeling from their mouths.
As Danny finished relieving the feeling of being parched Tucker was walking up to them, fiddling with his PDA as usual.
"Hey guys, so how's the brainwashing session going?" asked Tucker making a few notes on his favorite toy.
"Horrible, I think I prefer fighting Ember last night to this if I'm being completely honest," said Danny rubbing his head.
"Well be grateful you're getting breaks and water, I was tied to that chair for twelve hours don't forget," said Tucker with a bit of a frown. It was his best friends after all that had forced him to sit through all that. The fact that he'd gotten a perfect score on the standardized test didn't relieve him of the brain trauma.
"Yeah yeah yeah we know. But you can't deny in the end it did serve a good purpose. Without that we wouldn't have been able to free you from Ember's control and stop her," said Sam crossing her arms with a small grin. "Also you did get a perfect score on the standardized exam, pretty sure that's a good thing ten times out of ten."
"Eh, I still say all this learning is overrated, all I ever need is my trusty little baby right here," said Tucker hugging his precious PDA, even giving it a little smooch.
"Um, Tucker, that's really disturbing, and I'm saying that as someone who fights ghosts on a daily basis," said Danny cringing at the sight.
"You guys just don't understand, it comes with the territory of being a techno geek," said Tucker lowering his PDA back to his side.
"Yeah, because that's what all the girls love, a guy that knows machines better than humans," said Sam rolling her eyes again.
"Well come on, I'd like to get a little fresh air before we have to get back in there," said Danny as the three friends made their way outside to the school fields.

The rock and roll ghost known as Ember McLain had spent the last several hours trying to get away from that downright annoying Klemper. Despite her insisting he shut up and stop saying her name and asking to be her friend, the ice breathing ghost would not let up and go away. Seeing as Ember gets her strength from others chanting her name it was pretty incredible that even she didn't want that pajama wearing ghost to cheer for her.
Finally making it back to her realm after being dumped into the ghost zone by that dipstick Danny Phantom, she could finally take a moment to lay down and get her bearings. It only took about thirty seconds for that to happen before she was shaking with rage over how she got back here.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhh, that stupid dipstick, when I get my hands on him I'm gonna make him scream so loud they'll be able to hear it on the moon," said Ember angrily to herself with clenched fists.
She had been so close to achieving what she'd wanted for so long. The whole world was cheering for her and she could feel an endless source of power flowing through her as a result. For longer than she could remember she had dreamed of being a world famous rock star that was loved and cheered for by everyone. Her plan should have been perfect. By brainwashing the entire world with her music, combined with her powers it was all actually happening. But somehow that damn dipstick had been able to snap out of the love spell she had put him under to keep him distracted. Rather than continuing to swoon over the goth girl like a lovesick idiot he'd fought her and figured out a way to ruin her plans.
Though if she was being completely honest she thought it was kinda genius the way he did it. Even she wouldn't have been able to cheer for that absolutely disastrous singing his techno geek friend had been doing once he got the microphone. She wouldn't be surprised to find out if someone had actually cut their ears off listening to that.
Regardless though her goal was right there on the edge of her fingertips and that obnoxious Danny Phantom had been able to stop it right at the last second. She so was not going to let this slide. In fact she didn't even want to wait, she was eager to find that punk and go a second round with him right away. So with that thought Ember grabbed her guitar and hopped on. Riding her guitar like a surfboard she headed for the ghost portal that everyone knew led to the human realm. She could just teleport but she wanted to conserve her energy for when she found him since teleporting used up a lot of her power.
"Just you wait dipstick, I'm gonna show you a whole new meaning to the word pain," said Ember roughly, picturing the ghost boy's face and how it'll feel to disfigure it.

Now that Danny and Sam were back into the second half of the day's cram session they had moved onto the next topic, history. It seemed world, U.S., and local history were all being covered as part of the lesson was actually dedicated to famous and noteworthy events that had happened both in and nearby their hometown of Amity Park.
Danny had just finished getting an overwhelming amount of information on the Civil War drilled into his head before it shifted to local history. Ten minutes in and it felt like his brain was ready to melt when a new event actually started to seem interesting and get his attention more than the other events had. Something about a fire a few towns over from Amity Park that had claimed the life of a teenage girl about twenty years ago. For the first time all day Danny was actually trying to pay attention as he listened to the voice giving the lesson.
"The victim of the tragic accident was fifteen year old Amberline Lanes. Her body was found in her bedroom after firefighters eventually showed up on the scene. It was unfortunately too late as the poor girl had already burned to death long before anyone had even notified the fire department. While it was never discovered what started the fire or how young Amberline was caught in it, to this day she is remembered locally as the tragic victim of a horrible accident. Her parents moved away after the incident without even wanting to search the house to see if anything wasn't burnt. It is unknown where they went or what has happened to them since. The land that the house stood on was never sold and the burnt house has been left as a memory to young Amberline. Not all that much was known about the young girl. Students that went to school with her were interviewed after the incident but very few even knew who she was. One piece of information that was learned about her was that she had desires to become a rock star, often wearing rock and roll shirts and reading guitar magazines."
This history lesson went on for another ten minutes and by the time it was over a picture of Amberline from her high school yearbook that year was shown. As soon as Danny saw the picture his eyes opened a little wider as he looked at her. She looked so familiar and he could swear he recognized her. Though he barely had time to really think about what was on his mind from all this as the cram session did not have a pause function and proceeded right into the next history event.
This went on for another two hour session until it was finally finished for the day. Now that Danny and Sam were free and had their brains to themselves again all they wanted to do was put as much distance between them and the school as possible.
"Phew, so glad that's over, wouldn't you agree?" said Sam as she, Tucker, and Danny started to make their way to the Nasty Burger.
"Oh yeah, I'm definitely craving me a nothing but meat special. That where even the bun is made out of meat," said Tucker drooling at the thought of satisfying his carnivore cravings.
Sam rolled her eyes at this and how cruel that sounded, but bringing it up would just make her sound like a broken record.
"What about you Danny, does your brain feel fried yet after all that cramming?" asked Tucker looking to his best friend, only to see him staring at the sidewalk as they were walking.
Danny meanwhile was now finally able to mull over that history lesson about Amberline Lanes and how he couldn't stop thinking about how she looked so familiar. It took Sam elbowing him in the side to snap him out of his daze.
"Huh, what, oh um, yeah, sounds good," said Danny smiling awkwardly. "Hey um, did either of you think any of those history lessons really stood out?" asked Danny wanting to know what they thought about the whole thing.
"Eh, not really, the world stuff was the usual talk about wars that happened in Europe hundreds of years ago and of course the World Wars. The U.S. stuff was mainly about the Civil War and industrial revolution, so nothing that I hadn't already heard of," said Sam shrugging her shoulders. "And the local stuff wasn't really anything eye popping either. In fact one of them was about a local festival that has been going on in Lavender Town every year since 1920."
Danny cocked one of his eyebrows when she mentioned that. That wasn't one of the things he'd heard about in his cram session. That's when it dawned on him that every student must have been told about different history events with the local stuff.
"Why do you ask, did you learn about something different than that?" asked Tucker now curious.
Danny didn't really have any reason to keep this from his friends, but something in the back of his mind wanted to keep this one to himself for a little while. He actually was really curious about that story and wanted to explore it a little more on his own.
"Oh, um, nah, just a bunch of weird stuff that nobody outside the respective town has ever heard of," said Danny shrugging his shoulders. "Actually you know what, I'm not really feeling all that hungry. I think I'm just gonna head home and enjoy the fact that there aren't any ghost attacks going on right now. Savor the moment so to speak."
Sam raised one of her eyebrows thinking Danny was a little off in the way he was talking. He never passed up an opportunity for them to hang out at the Nasty Burger together.
"Are you sure dude, I saw Paulina heading in that direction as well. Isn't half the reason you like to go there just so you can stare at her?" said Tucker grinning knowingly, which Sam frowned at in disgust.
"Um, no, I'm really just not that hungry right now so I'm gonna go ahead and go home. But...I'll uh, see you guys later okay," said Danny giving his friends a point before starting to walk in the opposite direction towards Fenton Works.
Sam and Tucker looked at each other and back to Danny one more time before heading off to the Nasty Burger without him. Sam looked back over her shoulder once more pretty convinced he wasn't really going home. But for the time being she let it go and kept on walking.
Once Danny got out of sight from his friends he slipped into an alley alone.
'Okay, now to investigate this little suspicion of mine. I'm going ghost' Danny thought to himself as he made a big ring appear around him. Separating into two, one ring went up and the other one went down, transforming him into Danny Phantom. His hair now white, his eyes now green, and his clothes a black jumpsuit with white trim he took off into the sky heading in the direction of the town that this Amberline Lanes had lived in.

In the basement of Fenton Works while nobody was around to see it, Ember soared into the human world on her guitar. She immediately went intangible and flew up towards the dipstick's bedroom. Unfortunately for her it seemed he was not home as not only was his bedroom empty, but the whole house seemed to be as well.
"Well damn, I was hoping I'd get to strangle the dipstick right away. Guess now I have to go out hunting for him. Oh geez I just sounded like Skulker, bleh," said Ember sticking her tongue out in disgust at the thought of that so called hunter that couldn't seem to catch a cold, let alone someone's pelt. Just the thought of that slimeball in a tin can made her cringe.
Slinging her guitar over her shoulder Ember went intangible again and flew out of the house and into the sky.
"Get ready dipstick, when I find you you'll regret ever interfering with my plans to make the world love me," said Ember flying off into the sky in search of the ghost boy.
