Anyone between thirteen and eighteen can register; people start their journies at many different phases of life, and we don't wish to prevent anyone from advancing their Pokemon career.
Although, ten-year-olds ARE a bit young for this. Seriously, who goes on a potentially life-threatening adventure at ten?
Anyways, here at Pokemon University, there are five different courses you can pursue, on top of your general studies. These are the Research, Battle, Medical, Arts, and Ranger Courses.
In the Research Course, we seek to teach the next generation of Pokemon professors, those kind old folk who give us our starter Pokemon and design the wondrous technological and scientific world we live in. Whether you're a fan of ancient ruins or the specifics of the unique Pokemon biology, we have everything you need to become the next genius of the century.
Last names related to trees not required, but recommended.
In the Battle Course, we train our students in the fine arts of battling and strategy. These students often graduate to becoming Gym Leaders, Champions, and potentially even one of those Ace Trainers just standing around in the wilderness. We don't judge. This is our most popular course, for everyone wants to become the very best! Don't forget who taught you when you're drowning in League money, by the way.
In the Medical Course, we teach the doctors and nurses everything they need to excel. Without them, Pokemon would be far more dangerous then they are now, for they would be no one to care for the Pokemon...or the Trainers who handle them. As such, we also highly recommend this course!
Any student who enrolls receives a free Chansey and a guide called How to Be a Fantastic Nurse Joy.
In the Arts Course, we reward creativity. Here, movie stars and Contest stars alike are born, as they learn how to take exceptional care of their Pokemon and themselves, as well as put on a fantastical show! We also have complimentary fashion tickets so you can put on that winning look! Do feel free to participate in our fundraisers - those don't come cheap, you know.
In the Ranger Course, we help train the people who protect us and brave the unknown. While our researchers may study artifacts, these are the ones who retrieve them. While our battlers train against each other for fame and glory, these are the ones who fight for real, encountering powerful and wild Pokemon of all kinds. While our doctors work in fully-staffed hospitals, these people don't have that luxury yet can work just as well. While our showpeople act out scenes of glory and majesty, these are the people who inspire such shows.
As such, this is our hardest course, but arguably the most rewarding.
Whichever one you enroll in, we will offer the finest tutors we can hire to help you learn and succeed. We accept all kinds, even if you turn out to be a Zoroark in disguise (to keep his reputation intact we will not reveal who turned out to be one). We look forward to seeing you on the first day!
AN: Hello readers! This is my third SYOC, inspired by a very successful one on this same site (you probably know it already, but it's called Pokemon Academy: Beginning of Beginnings), and I'm eager to put my own spin on the concept!
Before I show you your submission form, a few things to keep in mind:
1. Be detailed! It will make things easier on my end, plus a particularly interesting or unique character stands out and causes me to enjoy writing them more, which means they'll show up more frequently!
2. Only ONE character per person! I made the mistake of not clarifying this in my first fanfic, and somebody submitted three characters. Normally in my other stories I have the option to submit two if they have a close connection, but this story is an exception. However, if I feel the need to introduce someone from one of your backstories, I will try to contact you so I can know more about them and characterize them properly.
3. You can submit your character through either reviews or PMs, but PMs are preferred! That's because this isn't just going to be a drop-your-character-off-and-done type of story. As the story progresses, there will be multiple moments where I may take your character on a drastic plot twist, and I'd like to be able to discuss things privately so we can determine how things will go. Romantic relationships are one of the potential circumstances, but there are quite a few others lying in wait.
4. I will only be accepting twenty characters AT FIRST. But at certain points of the story, new characters can be submitted. I highly recommend keeping an eye on this story even if you're unable to submit a character at first, because you may have an opportunity to later!
5. Every Trainer has their Pokemon, but this is one part of the character sheet with quite a few rules. Here's a nice long rundown.
- No more than six Pokemon a team. You may be able to get more later, but it is not guaranteed. However, you have a much higher chance if you have less than six on the team.
- You have ten points to 'spend' on Pokemon. This is to help limit the amount of super-powerful Pokemon one can have. The rules are: one point for a first evolution; two for a second evolution or single stage Pokemon; and three points for a third evolution. Additionally, pseudo-legendaries and any Pokemon on the restricted list cost double.
- You may only have one starter Pokemon (such as Charmander, Treecko, or Froakie), and it has to be from your character's home region.
- You may only have one Shiny, and it costs double points. Yes, a Shiny pseudo-legendary or restricted Pokemon costs four times the points.
- Legendaries/Mythicals are not allowed.
- The restricted Pokemon list includes any overused Pokemon, so as to limit their amount. This includes the following:
Pikachu line
Eevee line
Ralts line
Zorua line (both forms)
Riolu line
Vulpix line (both forms)
You are only allowed to have one of these Pokemon, and it costs double points as stated above.
- This story does not follow game logic. Please avoid choosing Pokemon based only on their statistical merit, for in this story what matters is your bond with your Pokemon and the training they've received. Pokemon do not have a four move cap, and type advantages or game statistics aren't the deciding factor in matches. Please feel free to use uncommon or unconventional Pokemon for your teams! I'd be delighted to see someone using, say, a Stunfisk or a Masquerain.
- You may only have one of each kind of Pokemon on a team. Special forms are an exception - you are allowed to have all three kinds of Meowths, or build an entire team of Unown with different letters.
- As stated previously, there is no four move cap, although I request you stay at eight or less to keep things simple. Also, only two of them are allowed to be TM moves, tutor moves, egg moves, etc.
- Don't be afraid to be detailed with your Pokemon descriptions! Although you don't have to go to as much lengths as your human character, I would love to see all kinds of unique descriptions and characteristics for your Pokemon! It helps them stand out as well.
Alright, now that that's out of the way, here is your (rather long) character sheet!
