Once upon a time in the Quantic Kingdom there was a young women named Marinette Dupain-Cheng. On the surface she was a simple girl. The only child of two bakers, Tom and Sabine. But Marinette was not just the simple daughter of bakers. She was a knight. The best knight in the entire kingdom in fact. She proudly served her kingdom. Going on missions to far away lands and battling dangerous monster. And no matter what she won them all. She would parade through town after each victory, with her red with black spots cape blowing in the wind. For this she had earned the title of The Ladybug Knight.
Now many in the kingdom wonder how she was able to do all the feats. She would leave the kingdom one her horse, Macaroon, alone but no matter how impossible it may seem she came victorious. However, only a select few knew the truth. Marinette was never alone. She had helpers.
First there was a duo of good fairies named Marc and Nathaniel. Marinette had met the two of them on one of her first missions. Having lost their forest home to a fire. Taking pity on them Marinette had shared the little food she had with them. For that they became quick friends. The fairies agreeing to help Marinette in exchange for Marinette giving them a place to stay. In between missions, they stayed in Marinette's room. Occasionally even helping in the bakery.
But the duo of fairies were not Marinette's only helpers. There was still one more. While, fairies like Marc and Nathaniel were common knowledge, there were an even rarer, more magical group of beings around the world. These were called the kwami. Kwami were magical beings that bonded with humans they deemed worthy enough to share their powers through magical jewelry called Miraculous. And Marinette happened to have one. She had met the kwami as a young girl after helping an elderly man. From that moment on the two of them were inseparable.
However, having a kwami around was dangerous. While a kwami got to chose who they gave their Miraculous too, they were not always perfect. A Miraculous owner could willing give their Miraculous to another. Or worse they could be stolen if caught off guard. While Marinette trusted her friends, she kept her kwami's presence to herself, with the exception of her best friend Alya, and her parents.
"It's good to be home," Marinette said as she sat on Macaroon. Marc, Nathaniel, and the other Tikki floated along beside her. From where the group was they could see the whole kingdom. The sun was starting to set covering the kingdom in a beautiful glow.
"I think the queens will be please with our latest victory," Nathaniel said proudly putting his hands on his hips.
"You mean The Ladybug Knight's victory," Marc said as he rubbed the back of his head.
"Come on you two," Marinette said with a laugh. "You both know I wouldn't be where I am now with you two and Tikki."
At that moment her horse neighed and clopped her feet a little.
"Of course you too Macaroon," Marinette giggled again and gave the horse some pets on her mane.
"We should get going Marinette," Tikki said flying next to Marinette.
"Good point Tikki," Marinette said with a nod. "Alright everyone who is a magical being into Macaroon's satchel."
Marc giggled as Nathaniel rolled his eyes. But as soon as Marc took his hand he smiled. The two fairies flew into the satchel quickly followed by Tikki. Once Marinette checked to make sure the bag was secured, she gave Macaroon the order to go forward.
"Look Marinette's back!" a child shouted as Marinette entered the town square. Marinette smiled at them and waved.
With those child words, a bunch of people walked out their houses. They all started to gather around her. Marinette waved and greeted everyone politely.
"Alright everyone let her through," Marinette looked over and saw Alya standing by the crowd. "She has to report to the queens you know."
A lot of the adults started to mumble to themselves as they started to disperse. Some of them even mumbling to themselves. The children in the crowd waved goodbye to Marinette before running to catch up to their parents. Marinette couldn't help laugh to herself. She gave Macaroon another command and she started walked again. Alya walked over and started to walk next to her.
"So did you succeed?" Alya asked as they kept walking towards the palace.
"Am I The Ladybug Knight or what?" Marinette said with a laugh.
"I'm surprised this seemed impossible for one person," Alya said with a knowing smile. Afterwards Marinette felt a small tug on her cape. Looking at her satchel she saw a small hand wave.
"The gang says hello," Marinette said quietly with a laugh.
"Tell them a say hello when you get the chance," Alya responded also in a quiet tone. She looked around a minute. "Well I got to go. Meeting up with Nino in a bit."
"You're so lucky to have found someone like him," Marinette sighed as she looked up the sky.
"What about Luca?"
"Juleka's brother!" Marinette gasped before hearing some small giggles from the satchel. She was quickly to gently nudge it before the sounds quieted down. "Alya he's a nice guy but. I dunno. It just feels like something is missing. I want to find the one."
"Marinette your perfect guy might be there out there but no one is absolutely perfect, flawless, whatever, but you can find the perfect for you. Maybe you just give someone the chance."
With that the two girls waved goodbye to each other. Marinette kept trotting forward. Though she couldn't get what Alya had said out of her head. She did care about Luca and considered him a good friend but she couldn't see herself in a romantic relationship. And she wasn't waiting around for Mr. Perfect. That would be silly. Still it did seem like all of her friends were getting into relationships. Alya and Nino, Luca's sister Juleka was dating her close friend Rose, and even Marc and Nathaniel were a relationship with each other. It was starting to get a little awkward.
Before Marinette could get lost in her thoughts even more she found herself at the palace gates. The guards immediately let her through and she made her way up to the steps. She got off Macaroon and walked inside the palace. She dusted off her armor quickly before asking for the queens. She held onto the bag by her side as she waited.
"Marinette you're back!" Marinette looked over and saw the two princesses entering the hall.
"Princess Aeon, Princess Jess." Marinette greeted both of the with a bow.
"How was your journey?" Aeon asked sweetly.
"It was normal, a calm journey, seeing many sights, meeting new people."
"What about the fight with bog beast?" Jess said before Marinette could finish.
"Girls give Marinette her space," the girls turned around to see Queen Olympia standing by them. Marinette bowed in front of her.
"You majesty," she said as the queen approached.
"I'm sorry but I must keep this meeting sort. We have some land issues to deal with some nobility. So were you successful."
"Indeed you majesty." Marinette reached into her bag a pulled out a scroll and somewhat larger black stick. "An official declaration from the mayor and a trophy from the beast."
"Thank you," the queen as she took the scroll before handing it to one of her daughter's. "Aeon dear you know where to take this."
"Yes mother," Aeon said as she started to leave the room. Jess was quick to follow her as Marinette and Queen Olympia talked about some more details.
"Man I what I wouldn't give to do a fraction of what Mariette can do," Jess said as she and Aeon walked through the halls. "I have no idea how she does it but she can do anything."
Before they could walk any further, they were stopped by stopping in front of them. The person gave a smile before saying. "Anything you say?"
"Mom, Dad I'm back," Marinette said as she walked through the doors of her parents bakery. At once the smell of her parent's baked good hit her face. She couldn't help but smile. She was home.
"My little girl is home!" Marinette looked over and soon felt the tight embrace of her father.
"Tom dear don't squish her," Sabine said with a laugh.
"Hi Mom," Marinette said as her dad set her down.
"You must be starving," Tom said running behind the bakery's counter and grabbed some day old goods. "Here you go, some snacks for you and your friends."
Almost immediately, Marc and Nathaniel flew out of the satchel they were hiding in and each grabbed a treat. Tikki mean while remained hidden but Marinette slid her her favorite cookie. She then walked up to her room. Once there Tikki flew out and sat on Marinette's desk. Marinette was quick to change out of her armor and into some more comfortable clothes. She quickly laid down on her bed and smiled. Sure she loved going on adventures but she loved being home.
"Marinette there's someone here asking for you." Marinette sat up in confusion upon hearing her mother's voice. Even if there was another emergency in the kingdom already, the queens would give her a few days to relax. Marc and Nathaniel looked at each other in confusion. Marinette shrugged at them. There was probably just something that needed to be cleared up with the palace.
Once she came downstairs, Marinette had to hold back disgust. No one from the palace there. There was only Chloe Bourgeois. The daughter of some of the newer nobles of the kingdom. Every time there seemed to be some problem in the kingdom, somehow Chloe's parents were involved. Well, Chloe's mother her father just seemed to be there. At least they often gave her parents good money in the bakery occasionally.
"Lady Chloe," Marinette said trying to sound as little annoyed as she could. "What ever to I own the pleasure?"
"I heard you can do anything," Chloe said with some slight snark in her voice.
"Well I do have that reputation."
"Perfect! Well I have a special job for."
"A special job?" Marinette raised her eyebrow.
"Don't worry my mommy and daddy already sorted everything with the queens. And we will pay you for this service."
"Um what exactly am I doing?"
"Oh of course! I want you to retrieve The Sleeping Sun."
