Chapter 5
Poland
Peter stood cloaked by his probes as Erik Lehnsherr A.K.A. Magneto and his lover Magda faced off against a group of Polish police who had their daughter Nina. Erik agreed to surrender in exchange for his daughter. But when Nina realized they were going to take her father her animal telepathy lashed out and caused a swarm of birds to attack the police officers. They had come armed with weapons that were non-metallic. An arrow from one of the police archer's leapt towards Nina's back. Nina was standing against her mother. The arrow would have killed them both. This was if Peter hadn't dropped the cloak and caught the arrow out of the air a foot from Nina's back. The police, Magda, Nina, and Erik all stared at Peter in shock.
"Who are you?" Erik asked.
"A friend," Peter answered. In Polish with his nanites from his AI translating, Peter said to the police, "Magneto could very easily kill you right now. There is a metal necklace his daughter has. It would slice right through your bodies easily. Run now while you still can."
The officers fled after what one of their member had almost done.
"Papa," Nina said in Polish as she rushed over and hugged her father.
"Come. I'll take you to an old friend. I ask you not to tell him about me, simply that you were aided by a mysterious ally," Peter said. "Ask him to respect your mental privacy."
Erik immediately knew they were talking about Charles Xavier.
"Thank you for saving my family. Lead on," Erik said.
Peter portaled the small family back to the school.

Peter had revealed his ability to portal to both Jean and Betsy asking them to keep it a secret. They thought it was part of a teleportation ability. Because of this he was able to portal Betsy home and pick her up whenever she wanted a booty call. She had a role to play in the coming events with Apocalypse if she so chose.

"You got some eye protection," Peter noted as Scott approached Peter and Jean sitting on the grounds of the institute under a tree.
"Yeah. Everything is red. But I can see," Scott said. "I think we got off to a bit of a rough start. I wanted to apologize. I'm sorry."
"Thank nothing of it," Jean said. "Emerging powers can be rough."
"He got a good look at you and regrets being a grumpy monkey when he got here," Peter sent knowing Jean would pick up on it.
"This place is a lot nicer than I thought," Scott said. "It isn't so bad."
"No it isn't," Peter said. "It has its charms. Peter Parker," He said as he stood and offered his hand.
"Scott Summers," Scott said.
Jean stood and officially introduced herself as well. It was clear that Scott was very attracted to Jean. Peter didn't blame him at all.

Raven A.K.A. Mystique showed up with Nightcrawler. She had heard about the trouble Erik had with the Polish officials. Peter found Raven very attractive. Her base form was that of Jennifer Lawrence from his last universe and she could shift into any woman she wanted. But she and Hank McCoy had unresolved feelings for one another. If given time and opportunity these feelings for one another would rekindle. If Peter didn't suppress his attraction to Raven and was around her enough his pheromones would likely render Hank's feelings a moot point. Peter liked Hank and didn't know yet what to do about the situation.

Peter was watching events from behind the scenes. He wondered with Erik being at the Xavier Institute without his family being dead if Apocalypse would come looking for him. In the movie presumably Psylocke had known Erik's location through the grapevine.

Erik's Quarters
"Who are you?" Erik asked as he stood in front of Magda and his daughter shielding them from the group of mutants who had just appeared.
"I am known by many names," Apocalypse said.
Apocalypse began making his recruitment speech for Erik. The moment he had sensed the powerful mutant presence at the school, the recently returned Charles headed for Cerebro. What followed was Apocalypse sensing Charles' power and using him to launch all of the nuclear missiles just like the movie.
Peter moved into the hallway just as an exhausted Charles Xavier was brought out of Cerebro and Apocalypse teleported in with his group of mutants. Erik was reluctantly with Apocalypse. Apocalypse wasn't about to take no for an answer and Erik could tell that. His family would have ended up dead. Erik reached out and picked up Charles' wheelchair pulling him to Apocalypse's group.
"Hey asshole," Alex Summers said as he took off running after Charles preparing to release his destructive beam from his chest.
"No," Hank McCoy shouted to Alex.
Peter acted. He leapt at Alex's back just before Alex would have released the beam. Peter's sleeper hold was quickly in place. Alex struggled against the sleeper hold. But Peter's strength was beyond anything Alex could hope to break.
"Go to sleep," Peter said even as the other group had already disappeared.
"Why did you do that?" Raven asked in confusion. "And who are you?"
"Thank you, Peter," Hank said. "He did that because there is an experimental engine behind that door that Alex would have hit and destroyed the entire mansion killing us all."
"We need to go up top. We're about to be paid a visit from an old acquaintance of yours," Peter said to Raven.
Peter walked with the group outside waiting to see if Peter Maximoff would show up. When he did not, Peter concluded that this was one of the differences from the X-Men Apocalypse movie verse and the universe Peter currently found himself in. How could there be a Peter Maximoff in the 1980's and then also the Maximoff twins in the MCU of the future? There couldn't be both.
A large helicopter landed in the front lawn.
"So, I'm about to kill William Stryker," Peter announced casually.
"Stryker," Raven said in alarm.
A team of half a dozen men dressed as a strike team exited the helicopter followed by William Stryker. Peter deployed his full Iron-Spider nanite suit even as Stryker's team fired the energy weapon meant to disable everyone. The people behind Peter dropped. Peter calmly ignored this energy wave. Stryker with wide eyes pulled a gun and started trying to shoot Peter. Peter ignored the bullets, walked up to Stryker, and punched Stryker in the heart. Peter's fist driven with enough speed and forced punched into Stryker's chest destroying the man's heart. Stryker was dead before he hit the ground. Peter turned back to the rest of the team who all had guns raised fearfully.
"Leave this place now or I will kill you all. Those guns won't have any effect on me," Peter said.
The men were smart enough to leave. Peter walked over to the fallen group and knelt down. He used a spell to wake them all up.
"What happened?" Raven asked groggily.
"Stryker is dead," Peter explained. "He had a disabling energy wave weapon. The thugs left a few behind," He pointed out while nodding towards Hank.
"How do you know about Stryker?" Raven asked.
"Part of Peter's gift is that he knows things he has no business knowing otherwise. It's a sort of extra-sensory perception," Hank said.
"Excuse me for a moment," Peter said as he saw Jean approaching from the institute.
"What happened?" Jean asked.
"An asshole from the past tried to come and kidnap several people. I killed him. We need to go clean up a mess he made. Will you come with me?" Peter asked.
"Of course," Jean told her boyfriend.
The couple stepped out of sight of the others. Peter portaled them away.

Weapon X Project – Containment Room
"His mind," Jean said after she took stock of her surroundings.
"I know. They took a lot from him and made him into their weapon. Can you try to give him what you can back?" Peter asked.
"I can try," Jean said.
"I'm going to try to remove the metal from his bones. He's one of a few mutants capable of surviving the process of putting the metal in. But it is still toxic to him long term and would kill him. Oh he'd live decades more. But without the metal in there I suspect he would be biologically immortal," Peter said.
Peter focused on a spell he had learned just for this occasion. It was a mining spell. It took extreme focus. But eventually Peter was able to remove all of the Adamantium from Logan's bones.
"I did what I could," Jean said.
Peter opened the door. Logan walked out with bone claws extended from his hands. He looked cautious but didn't immediately attack.
"This notebook contains what I suspect about your past," Peter said as he held up a spiral bound notebook. "This backpack has $50,000 in cash in it along with some supplies. I'm going to transport you to near our school in New York. If you ever need help our school's address is in the notebook. There's also a change of clothes."
Logan accepted the backpack without saying a word. Jean telekinetically removed the harness they had fitted on Logan. Logan was then gone in a portal. Peter and Jean left soon after, returning to the mansion. Peter also portaled away all of the blood samples Stryker had taken from Logan. Those were getting delivered to Sterns in the future. Sterns might find the genes of a mutant with Logan's healing ability very interesting.

Soon after Charles telepathically delivered a message to the entire world from Apocalypse, enhanced by Apocalypse. Peter wondered if the ability to enhance the gifts of other mutants was something Apocalypse born En Sabah Nur originally possessed, had acquired from a mutant whose powers he had taken over the eons, or was generated by the celestial technology he possessed. When En Sabah Nur was young he had gained access to a cache of leftover celestial tech in a cave on Earth. He had gained technopathy at some point or it was part of his original gifts. Between that and his natural intelligence he had learned to harness the celestial tech. Peter wasn't sure of the exact details of what was natural and what was gained in the repertoire of Apocalypse's abilities. But Peter was interested in gaining the celestial tech.

Peter was on the x-jet with a team of mutants consisting of Raven, Hank, Jean, Scott, Kurt Wagner, and Alex Summers. Moira was also present. Erik had already begun his magnetic attack on the planet. But it seemed less aggressive than what Peter remembered from the movie in his universe. He attributed this to the fact that this Erik was reluctant to work with Apocalypse compared to that movie verse.
The x-jet flew into the center of the maelstrom of metal Erik had swirling through the air.
"Apocalypse has the professor in the new pyramid there," Jean said while nodding towards a brand new technological pyramid Apocalypse had transformed out of the surrounding matter. "He plans to transfer his consciousness into Professor Xavier so that he has the professor's telepathic power."
"Alright. Here's the plan," Peter said, surprising several people. "I have the ability to kill Apocalypse quickly. Jean has the power to take him on."
"You think so?" Jean said surprised.
"I know so. Don't hold back. Burn him. I'm going to teleport him out of the pyramid. While you attack him I am going to shrink down and kill him from within. I've got a special present for him," Peter said. Quietly he added to Jean, "Just keep attacking him making him defend himself. But once he stops defending and dies let up. I want this tech suit and even wouldn't mind the body."
"Understood," Jean mentally replied.
"What should the rest of us do?" Scott asked.
"Keep his four horsemen busy. It shouldn't be hard with Erik being reluctant," Peter said.

Betsy found Apocalypse very charismatic. The boost he gave to her powers had been intoxicating. But she came out of the haze from the power enhancement the moment she saw her two lovers step out of the jet that had just landed.
"Like hell I'm fighting those two," Betsy told herself. "To help or flee."
Betsy decided to stay back and watch unless her intervention was needed.

Angel and Storm were quickly engaged by the remaining X-Men. Apocalypse had been on the transferal platform preparing to transfer himself into Charlex Xavier when he was unceremoniously portaled out onto the ground in front of the pyramid. He barely had time to get his eyes open and a force field up before Jean in all of her fiery phoenix glory was upon him. An aura of terrible power manifested around her as she directed her fury towards him. All the pent up rage from being pent up by Xavier was unleashed on Apocalypse. Peter meanwhile was already inside that forcefield, having been in place before Apocalypse even raised it. He was shrunken and already inside of Apocalypse, so small he was easily able to get into the powerful mutant's ear. His suit took him to just the right location. Peter produced a chunk of Adamantium. It had shrunken with him. Peter placed the chunk right at the location that once it grew the chunk would destroy the part of Apocalypse's brain which governed his mutant abilities, including his healing ability. Apocalypse's healing ability had a genetic component but still required parts of his brain to regulate. It wasn't like Logan's ability which was entirely genetic. Logan's healing ability would regenerate his body even if his brain was destroyed. His brain would regenerate with no memories in that case. But it would regenerate.
Peter said a time-delay collapse of the shrinking field and got out of there. Thirty seconds after Peter exited Apocalypse's skull, Apocalypse appeared to have a seizure and collapsed braindead. Jean immediately backed off her attack. A portal opened up depositing Xavier in front of the pyramid. A portal then opened swallowing Apocalypse. Then the entire pyramid with all of its celestial technology shrunk before vanishing through a portal.
"That was anticlimactic," Jean said as she floated down next to Peter.
"Better than a prolonged battle," Raven said as she came over. "Is it done?"
"It's done," Peter answered.
Jean was in contact with Betsy telepathically. Peter would arrange portal transport for Betsy out of there.

Peter had come to a decision about Raven. There was a multiverse out there of Hank McCoy's who got back together with Raven. This wasn't likely to be one of them.

A Few Weeks Later
Ororo, Jean, Betsy, and Raven floated in the pool next to each other wearing bikinis getting some sun. They were relaxing. Betsy had shown up at the institute a few days after the Apocalypse incident and took up a teaching position.
"So what is the deal with you and McCoy?" Betsy asked Raven. "I see him making eyes at you all the time."
"We have a history together romantically," Raven admitted.
"Do you think you will get back together?" Ororo asked curiously.
"I don't know," Raven admitted. "Things didn't end so well last time. Why do you ask?"
"Just curious," Ororo said. "What about you and Peter?"
"We are very much an item," Jean said while sharing an amused glance with Betsy.
Raven felt a lurch of jealousy in her chest. For some reason she had found herself starting to have indecent thoughts about the handsome younger man. Jean's arm brushed up against Raven's thigh as they floated on inflatable chairs in the pool. Jean was a very beautiful young woman. And Raven had never been picky on which sex she preferred. She noticed Jean had been more touchy over the past few days. It could have just been her imagination.

Peter stood in his bathroom having showered thinking about recent events as he groomed himself in front of the mirror. He could sense Jean, Raven, and Betsy sleeping in the other room using his new telepathy. His new body had finally been completed by his team in the future after much trial and error. The number of clone bodies they had gone through numbered in the thousands. But with the ability to temporally manipulate the body's age to grow in seconds from their perspective it went much faster. Peter's body had one-quarter Hulk's physical strength. He was capable of lifting in the 50 to 100 ton range depending on how much he tried. He possessed telepathy and telekinesis on the order of Jean's abilities. He also had his Spider-Man abilities. His body also possessed the Hulk's healing ability. And best of all, Peter was now genetically a celestial. Peter was still very much learning how to use these new abilities.
The strength came somewhat naturally. The telepathy and telekinesis was actually something Jean was somewhat helping him with. He had revealed to his lover that he now had those abilities. He was helping her with the finer control using his sorcerer magic. She was helping him as well. For the celestial abilities, Peter was still figuring out a way to learn them. It was something he had time to master. He let the ladies sleep as he went in search of some food. Foursomes made him hungry.

"Well that was certainly easier than trying to get up here via rocket propulsion," Hank said as he sat next to Peter piloting the X-Jet. The jet was currently in orbit of Earth watching the space shuttle endeavor spin in space before a "cloud of energy." The cloud was the phoenix force in this universe. Peter had revealed his ability to teleport and teleported the x-jet.
"Just Jean and I are going over in a telekinetic bubble," Peter announced.
"Are you sure?" Raven asked.
"I'm sure," Peter confirmed.
Jean unbuckled and floated over to Peter. She wrapped her arm around him and they portaled over to the Endeavor. Jean telekinetically helped hold the shuttle together as Peter went about portaling the crew back to the x-jet. As the energetic cloud began to bombard the Endeavor, Peter returned. He wrapped himself in a telekinetic cocoon. The phoenix force flooded into Jean, transforming her. Certain individuals of power were born with the ability to host the phoenix force. It was an incredibly rare thing throughout the universe. Jean was one such being. The phoenix force hesitated when it sensed Peter's power. He could potentially host it. But a celestial wasn't as prime a host as one that had been born with the hosting ability. The endeavor exploded around them from the force of the absorption process. Jean would have been fine floating in space. But Peter enclosed her in his telekinetically contained atmospheric bubble all the same. He portaled them back to the x-jet and then portaled the jet back to the ground.
"Is Jean alright?" Scott asked.
Scott had a crush on Jean he had been keeping to himself for years.
"Time will tell," Peter said.

D'Bari Ships in Orbit
One by one the cloaked D'Bari ships which had been following the phoenix force shrunk to the horror of their occupants. Each ship shrunk down to the size of a marble which were then placed in a pocket dimension created by Peter in his Iron-Spider suit. Peter would take the ships back to his lab, exterminate the infestation of D'Bari onboard, and send the ships back to the future for his team to go over.
Peter had frankly hated the entire D'Bari storyline of the Dark Phoenix movie from his old universe.

Jean's Room
Jean opened her eyes to find Peter waiting for her. She sat up and sensed the power within her. She also sensed the power within him. She couldn't tell who was the more powerful of the two of them.
"How do you feel?" Peter asked.
"Powerful," Jean admitted. "There's so much power in me. I'm not sure I can contain it."
"I think together we'll figure it out. If you start to lose control I'll portal us to the Kuiper belt," Peter assured. "The phoenix force will probably drive you to eradicate certain planets in the universe, ones that have been deemed to not work well. I will help. I got you a present to celebrate becoming the phoenix avatar."
Peter had told her what he knew of the phoenix force and exactly what was in orbit before they had gone on the mission. Jean had agreed to it because they really didn't think she had much of a choice. The phoenix force probably would have come down into the planet's atmosphere to find Jean, which wouldn't have been good for Earth.
"What is that?" Jean asked.
"I'm going to give it to you. But then I want you to be prepared to portal to the Kuiper belt. This is one of those things that will test your emotional control," Peter warned.
"I'm ready," Jean said. Someone was portaled into the room. "Mom," Jean said in surprise.
Elaine Grey looked around in bewildered surprise before focusing on Jean.
"Jean?" Elaine said. "What's going on?"
"You've been transported to the future from your perspective Mrs. Grey," Peter explained. "I'm sorry. It was necessary. You would have died moments later. Instead a clone with its mind suppressed died in your place to preserve the timeline. Time travel can be a tricky thing."
"How…how far into the future?" Elaine asked.
"It's 1992 mom," Jean answered.
"Oh…I think I need to sit down," Elaine said before she fainted.
Jean telekinetically caught her mother and laid her on the bed.

In the end Jean was able to get reacquainted with her parents. But the relationship with her father was strained with how easily he had let Xavier take Jean. Jean completely understood given she had accidentally caused her mother's death. It still hurt.
The phoenix force did drive Jean to wipe out one planet every few months. She would begin to get visions of a planet that needed destroying, burned away with the phoenix fire. Peter would be able to locate the planet from the visions and portaled them there. Jean would destroy the planet. Then they would portal home. The phoenix force also sent Jean dreams explaining about why it existed and had to prune planets that didn't work.
