"Reyna, promise me you will find the holder."
"Dad... where are you going? Why are leaving?"
"We have to. I love you my amazing daughter. I will always be with you."
"No...dad... wait!"
I opened my eyes and gasped. I looked around the small motel room, the full moon shining bright through the open window. I took a deep breath and slowly exhaled as my heartbeat went back to normal. I had the dream again, it never gets easier. I brushed my fingers through my long raven colored hair, I slowly got out of bed and walked to the window. I looked up at the sky and sighed.
"Dad... it's been so long and I still haven't found the holder. I've met a few, but none worthy enough." I spoke out into the darkness, to the universe and hope for a sign, something to show me I'm on the right path. But like usual the stars just twinkle at me. "Well I might as well get an early start, I still have a few days till I get to Magnolia." I take one last look up at the stars, turn and head to the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day. After packing my bag I stopped in front of the full length mirror that hung on the back of the door to the room. "This is as good as its going to get." I sighed looking at my reflection. My long raven hair in a loose braid down to my low back pieces of hair framing my face, black tank top, purple button up, jean shorts and black combat boots. "Huh..." I rolled my sleeves up to my elbows, unbuttoned the last three buttons and shoved the bottom of my necklace down my tank top. "Better." Throwing my bag over my shoulder I walk down the hall towards the lobby.
"Good morning dear! How did you sleep?" A kind looking older lady happily asked as I walked down the stairs.
"I slept great Mrs. Elder. Thank you so much for renting me a room last minute." I smiled walking up to the front desk.
"Anything for my best customer! Reyna, you have stayed here every time you come though town and every time I'm so happy to see you!" Her eyes brightened and her smile got larger... if that was even possible. "And how many times do I have to tell you dear, call me Dorris."
"It's habit and I want to be respectful, you've done so much for me."
"Oh... you're such a sweet girl!" Dorris walked around the counter and grabbed me into a bear hug. That tiny woman can squeeze the life out of anyone, never would have guessed. I laughed and hugged her back, it was always so nice to see her.
"Well... Dorris... I better get going. Thank you again."
"You're so welcome my dear, you take care and I promise to have your favorite cookies ready the next time your in town."
"I'll hold you to that, best cookies on Earthland!" We said our goodbyes and walked down the road. I hummed as I pasted the shops on main street, the people busy opening their doors and getting things ready to start the day.
"Hi Reyna!"
"Hey Stanley!" I smiled and waved, I stopped as the sweet smell of fresh baked cinnamon rolls hit my nose and no sooner my stomach growled. I giggled and walked up to the counter.
"Reyna!"
"Is that fresh baked cinnamon rolls I smell?!" Smiling with a small twinkle in my eyes.
"You smelled correctly. Would you like one this fine morning?"
"Well you talked me into it and a iced green tea latte would make my morning even better!"
"Comin' right up!" Stanley laughed and went to work. "Reyna, to go right?"
"Yes sir, that would be great!" A few minutes later I'm sipping happily on my latte walking towards the train station. Stopping, I looked at the sign. "If I took the train to Magnolia it would cut days off my travel time. Perfect." I thought to myself, I nodded and went to buy a ticket for the next train.
"All aboard, 7am train to Magnolia now boarding!"
I hopped on the train and walked along the corridors to find a place to sit. About halfway down an empty cabin was waiting for me to claim. Walking in I tossed my bag on the seat and sat next to the window. Getting comfortable I started delightfully enjoying my cinnamon roll and watching the people outside the train. "Getting a cabin to myself was rare, this trip will be fantastic" I thought. No sooner I cleaned up from my delicious breakfast the door to my cabin opened.
"Excuse me ma'am, I'm so sorry to bother you but would you mind if my companions and I could share your cabin? Everywhere else seems to be full." I turned to see a regal looking young man with green hair staring back at me. His eyes were both pleading and yet remorseful at the same time.
"I guess, if everywhere else is full." I sighed and leaned over to grab my bag.
"Thank you so much." He bowed and turned to motion to his companions. He moved to the seat across from me by the window and sat down.
"Pardon my manners, my name is Freed." He smiled and lowered his head in greeting.
"Reyna." I slightly smiled feeling very weird with the formality. I turn back to the window as the others come in.
"Oh... now who do we have here?" A taller man wearing what looked like knight helmet slides in next to me. "Hello... what is your name?" He asks getting way to close. I slowly blink, take a breath and turn to look at him. Halfway I'm met with stormy gray eyes that catch my breath in the doorway. I quickly recover and look at this wanna be knight of the round table.
"Bixslow your being rude, leave her be." Freed seeming to sense my annoyance.
"I am not, I just asked this gorgeous young woman her name."
"She doesn't have to tell you anything, jerk." A fan comes out of nowhere and smacks Bixslow on the head. I stared at the fairy looking women behind the deed. "Can't you go anywhere without hitting on any woman with a pulse?" She asked hiding behind the fan with a slight teasing look.
"Ow...Ever that hurt... what the fuck?"
"Oh get over it. You're fine." She walks over, pushes Bixslow and sits next to me. This is going to be a very long train ride.
"Don't pay attention to him. I'm Evergreen."
"Um...hi. Reyna." I really didn't know what to make of all of them. I can assume they are a team, by their smell wizards, and one is a dragon slayer. At that moment of clarity I feel eyes on me. I look around to find four pairs of eyes on me.
"Um... can help you?"
"You're a dragon slayer, correct?" The muscular, very handsome looking blonde pointedly asks.
I knowingly smile. "As are you." I hear gasps around us. Freed was the first to speak.
"If you don't mind me asking, what type of slayer are you?" The others seem to be waiting on the answer as well. Oddly the blonde seemed to tilt his body towards the conversation.
"Look, you guys seem nice and all but I'm not a big fan of... um... people. So feel free to do your thing, and I'll do mine." I smiled slightly, turn towards the window place my headphones on and turned up my music as the train started moving. I sensed the annoyance but saw Freed wave them all off. I slightly nodded towards him in thanks, he smiled back and then shoved his nose in a book. The blonde dragon slayer on the other hand, every so often on the train ride I felt his eyes. Like he was trying to figure out why I was hiding things especially being a dragon slayer like him.
A few uneventful hours later the train pulls into Magnolia and my cabin mates file out. I grab my stuff and turn bumping into a large muscular chest. I look up to stormy gray eyes.
"I'll see you around." He says in a husky voice that sent a shiver through me. He turned and walked toward the door of the train. I released a breath I didn't realize I was holding. "Holy shit... god he smelled amazing." A blush hit my cheeks and shook my head. "Wake up Reyna." I got off the train just in time to see the group walking out of the station. "Good, hopefully no one saw that." I thought.
Sight seeing a new town is always the best on the first day. You can find places to eat, stay and maybe gain local knowledge. Walking through the main part of town shops lined the street, markets and food stands everywhere. I stopped in front of a food stand to gage the local eats.
"Hello there ma'am! Would you like to try some beef kabobs? Or we have chicken or pork. Whatever strikes your fancy." A middle aged man smiled at me from the other side of the stand.
"Chicken sounds great, does it come with anything?" I smile as my stomach growls, really hoping he didn't hear that.
"Yes it does, grilled vegetables and steamed rice."
"One please."
"Coming up!"
"Excuse me sir?" I asked politely.
"Harry."
"Huh?"
"I'm Harry, easier then sir." He laughed as he handed me my food.
"Thank you. Well Harry, I'm Reyna. Do you know of any nice apartments here to rent, maybe something with a view?"
"Hello Reyna." He smiled and then scratched his head a moment and then a light bulb went off.
"There is a building next to the canal in town that should have some apartments available. Two streets over, it's brick and orange. You can't miss it."
"Awesome, thank you so much Harry." I tried the chicken and it was heavenly. "Harry this is fantastic! I'll be back to try more. Thank you again!"
A few hours, a lease, and tons groceries later I'm settling into my new apartment. It's easier and cheaper to sign a 3 month lease than pay per day for a motel. I've been traveling a very long time and finally found the guild that might have the answers I need. Thankfully the land lady was very nice and the apartment is already furnished, oh and the tub is fantastic. "3 o'clock... there's still time to see the guild."
The walk to Fairy Tail was surprisingly fast. I could hear the loud commotion from the guild a mile away, though dragon hearing doesn't help. As I get closer I can smell so many different things, but as I focus in a familiar scent is there, plus 4 other slayers, and something else. I open the doors and sound waves of craziness hit my ears. Chairs being thrown, tables over turned, guys fighting, while others look on to see who wins. The doors hit the walls and the whole place stops. Every eye is on me, and moves with me as I walk in and head to the bar.
"Hello! How can I help you?" A gorgeous white hair woman smiles at me.
"Hi, I'm looking for a mage that is a member here."
"Oh really, who might that be?" She asked sweetly.
"A Miss. Lucy Heartfilia."
