Caught

I sighed and lay down. Earlier, I had been running free.

(flashback)

You see Magenta in a flower patch

I remember I had been running around a flower patch, sniffing every petal.

Magenta sneezes

"A-A-choo!"

He he, I remember how much the pollen used to make me sneeze.

(end flashback)

I remember how I used to play with Scamp, this cute pup I may never see again...

(flashback)

Shows Scamp and Magenta playing tag

We loved to play Tug-Of-War.

Scamp pulls Magenta's ears

(end flashback)

I almost smiled. We had always used my ears for our games, cause we were not allowed to use hats or shoes.

But those days are over now,

(flashback)

A dog catcher creeps up on Magenta

Magenta turns around, and sees him

"Yipe!"

The dogcatcher scoops Magenta up in his net

"Gotcha, you little huligan!" he chuckles.

He throws her into the truck, and starts the long drive to the Pound

Magenta howls and whimpers at the top of her lungs

(end flashback)

cause I've been caught...and I'm taking a one way trip to the Pound.

Is there anybody that can help me?

(flashback)

I remember I saw many other strays, and of course, I asked them for help.

"Can anyone help me?"

I remember asking them that question. The strays, however, continued to hide from the dogcatcher, ignoring my cries for help. Nobody wanted to get nvolved.

I remember how hard I cried when noone came to my rescue.

(end flashback)

So, is there anyone that wants to help me? I think not.

I jerked back to attention as I felt the truck stop.

'Surely I can't already be here.' I think to myself. I looked out the cage door, and almost cried tears of joy, when I saw our reason for stopping.

It was Scamp, and his father, Tramp!

Seeing them gave me a new hope, and I started jumping against the cage door, desperate to open it. Then Tramp ran over to my cage door, and opened it. Scamp followed him.

"C'mon!" he whispered, "Let's get outta here!"

So we all ran til we got to Scamp's house.

I thanked them, and started to leave.

Scamp saw me leaving, and said,"Now Magenta. If you think we are just going to let you go back out there and get caught again, you're wrong. You're going to stay overnight at least, so the dogcatcher doesn't get you again."

I grinned and replied,"OK! Besides, after tonight, I'm scared to try and find a safe place to sleep."

"Well you're safe here." Scamp assured me, as he led me inside.
