Chapter 1

Side 7

Green Noa 1

U.C. 0087

Seven years since the One Year War and much has changed in the Earth Sphere. A new Special Task Group known as the Titans was formed by the Earth Federation to replace the inefficient E.C.O.A.S. and Londo Bell as the premier Zeon Remnant task group after what occurred at Side 3 three years after the One Year War. Though both organizations still exist, their influence and support has waned considerably as the Titans earned success after success in routing out the remaining Principality of Zeon Remnant groups from existence. And this continued on until last year, where the Titans have become increasingly hostile and authoritarian in their objectives. To the point that a new rebel group has been created to expose the Titans for the monsters that they are. And their latest mission is in Green Noa 1 of Side 7, the site of the very first Mobile Suit on Mobile Suit battle between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation.

"I'm telling you, this is one of the easiest jobs out there." Said a Titans comm officer as he addressed his coworker. "Seriously, all we have to do is monitor the exterior of the colony for stray asteroids and unauthorized ships that get past the patrols from approaching the colony. That's it. Just an easy job."

"I hear that." Said the other comm officer as he looked at his monitor, finding nothing out of the usual. Just the typical asteroid or patrol ship dedicated to protecting the colony. "Wonder why they got a human doing this when an AI can do it better?"

"No idea, but I'm not complaining. It's easy money." Said the first officer as he leaned back on his chair and propped his feet on his terminal. "Man becoming a Titan has been the best decision I ever made. Not only do I get good benefits and pay, but I also don't have to worry about the red tape that's been plaguing Londo Bell and E.C.O.A.S. as of late. I'm telling you my sister is out of her mind in joining Londo Bell."

"Uh-huh." Said the 2nd officer as he continued monitoring his terminal when he noticed something. Before he could see if it was real or not, it was gone in the blink of an eye. Shaking his head, he looked at his coworker and asked him when their next break is. As they were conversing with each other, a lone man in a pilot suit was sneaking by them. After sneaking by them and a few other guards on patrol, the man was inside the space colony. Upon entering it and seeing its beautiful grassy fields, the man took off his helmet to reveal his blue hair.

"Man, it's been a while since I took a step in this colony. Seven years to be exact." Said the man before finding a place to hide his pilot suit and thus begin the real reason he was here in the first place.

Meanwhile

In one of the academic academies in Green Noa 1, a blue-haired boy was running down the hall of his school and towards its main exit, despite school not being over yet. Even though it would get him in trouble with both his parents and his school, he didn't care. He had to get to the spaceport now otherwise he'll miss the arrival of Captain Bright Noa, veteran of the One Year War and overall leader of Londo Bell. He was scheduled to arrive soon to help oversee the testing of some brand-new Mobile Suit that was testing out a new design idea for Mobile Suits. He was going to be there along with a commander from the Titans and an officer of E.C.O.A.S. The entire thing was a joint operation between the various Special Task Groups in the Earth Federation meant to improve relations between them as the Titans were not liked by either E.C.O.A.S. or Londo Bell.

Much as the boy knew that it would be unlikely for Bright Noa to give some time to him, he still wanted to go. He hated his class. Most of them picked fun at him for having a girl name when he was a boy. He had no idea why his parents thought it was a good idea to name their son with a name that was regarded as reserved for women only. But they did and they never made the effort to legally change his name, even when he begged them to when he was in elementary school after a rather cruel day of teasing and bullying. So he was stuck with a feminine name. Life truly was cruel.

And to make matters worse, he learned that his parents were having marriage issues. They constantly fought and argued with one another for even the most minor of things except their work it seemed. It got so bad that the boy felt that his home wasn't a home anymore and he had to develop several new hobbies in order to keep his mind off the terrible situation he was in because of his parents. They helped, yes, but not as much as he felt that they should. Not only because they couldn't solve the issue he had at home, just take his mind off it, but also because everyone bullies him for his name. It left him frustrated at everything. Both his life and his parents. The only good thing in his life right now was his neighbor, a young girl named Fa Yuiry.

Essentially taking his mother's role as a caretaker for him, Fa tried her best to help him through his difficult position and he appreciated her for that. She also never teased him or insulted him because of his name, increasing his appreciation for her. She can get annoying on how she tries to help him, but he can appreciate that it was for his benefit and it was done out of concern for him and his wellbeing.

Upon finding the exit, As he approached the main exit of the school, he was suddenly stopped by a young man with a martial arts bag over his shoulder grabbing his shoulder.

"Kamille Bidan! Are you skipping practice?" Asked the man, disgust in his voice along with suspicion. Stunned to see his martial arts team captain stopping him, the now-named Kamille tried to use the same excuse he used on his instructor. That he was sick and that he couldn't be at practice because of that.

"I'm sorry sir, but…" Kamille couldn't say anymore because his team captain slapped him so hard that sent him flying. Fortunately, Kamille got back on his feet midflight before taking off.

"I'm sorry, captain. It's just for this afternoon!" Yelled Kamille as he ran down a flight of stairs. Scoffing at the answer that Kamille gave him, the man left, knowing he can't do much to the boy as his parents were working for the Titans.

As Kamille ran down the stairs and towards his electric car, he suddenly heard a woman's voice. A voice that he was all too familiar with.

"Kamille!" Yelled Fa Yuiry, Kamille's neighbor and a young girl with black hair, as she ran to catch up with him. She was just minding her own business when she saw Kamille running by her. Curious about why he was there when he was supposed to be at practice with their school's martial arts team, she followed him. She yelled his name a few more times before Kamille spoke up.

"Fa, can you please stop yelling my name." Said Kamille as he looked at his friend, annoyed. "I don't want people to know that I'm here and not at practice."

"Everyone already knows when you ran off and not at practice." Said Fa as she looked at her friend. "Why did you skip practice anyway?"

"Because I'm going to the spaceport." Said Kamille as they both got on his electric car. "Captain Bright Noa is landing soon and I want to be there to see it."

"Are you serious?" Asked Fa just as Kamille took off, catching her off guard. When she got ahold of herself, she glared at Kamille. "Kamille, you'll be in serious trouble with your parents and your team for this. Besides, if the rumors are true, then, then Captain Noa will be here for a while. There's no need to rush to meet him."

"But I want to see him land the White Base." Said Kamille as he took off towards the tram station. "It's the very first Mobile Suit Carrier in existence for the Earth Federation and the ship that carried the White Devil himself. Not to mention it helped win several decisive battles for the Federation. That ship is just as famous, if not more, than the people that it carried. And I want to see it in action as it docks."

"Oh Kamille." Said Fa, knowing how much spaceships intrigued her friend. Though she won't deny that she was somewhat thrilled to see the White Base.

Everyone knew about the flagship of Londo Bell. It was the first of its class and probably the most famous as it carried the White Devil himself, Amuro Ray, into battle. It also helped in several pivotal battles in the One Year War, like the battle of A Baoa Qu, Odessa, and Solomon to name a few. And it continued to serve the Earth Federation along with its ship class through various upgrades and refits to ensure it was up to date with the latest ship technologies, though rumor has it that it would soon be decommissioned along with the Pegasus class assault carriers due to a new proposed ship design that will surpass it in capabilities.

Soon the two were at the tram station. Taking a tram, the two departed for the spaceport, hoping to catch the White Base before it could dock with the colony. As the tram was making its way towards the spaceport, Kamille and Fa noticed that the tram had several GM worker units onboard, all of them away from the human occupants of the tram so as possible to give them space, even though there was plenty of room for all in the tram. Upon noticing them, Kamille realized these GM workers were the mark II variants of the workers.

Unlike their predecessors, who had to be bulky in order to fit the batteries needed to power them up for an adequate period of time, the Mark II variant of the GM worker was slimmer, bearing more resemblance to the old GM I Mobile Suit of the One Year War in appearance. This was due to recent innovations that enabled them to hold fewer batteries, but still for an increased amount of time before recharge compared to the older ones. The old Mark Is are still in use though as the Mark IIs are still new. In fact, they were reserved for service in only a few places and organizations at the moment. And right now they were Earth, Anaheim Electronics, Side 1, and several places of great value to the Earth Federation. Kamille wasn't surprised to see that the Mark IIs are in Green Noa I, however. This was because Green Noa I was one of the main field bases for the Titans Special Task Group. Given the elite nature of the Titans, it stands to reason that the quality of AIs and droids here will be of higher quality than the ones present in other colonies. Perks of being a highly elite task group that's supposed to protect the Earth Federation from harm, he guessed. Though judging by their color scheme of black and red, these GM workers are a part of the Titans. For what, Kamille didn't know, nor did he care. He didn't care about the Titans at all. Nor E.C.O.A.S. for that matter. He only cared about Londo Bell and that was because of its leader.

A few minutes later, the tram reached the space dock and Fa and Kamille got off and hurried towards an observation deck to see the White Base coming in. Hopefully they'll be able to reach it in time to see it dock.

White Base

"Sir, we're beginning docking procedures now." Said the White Base's helmswoman. Giving the officer a nod, Bright Noa began to make an announcement to his crew.

"Attention everyone, we're going to dock with Green Noa 1 in a few minutes." Said Captain Bright Noa as he addressed his crew. "I want a security team with me when we depart and for our Mobile Suit team to be on standby. Though the Titans believe that no one will dare to attack one of their main strategic locations out in space, I want to be safe than sorry." With that, he ended the announcement and watched as his ship began docking procedures. As it did so, he thought about the Titans and how things have gone since the tragedy at Side 3.

Since the formation of the Titans and what happened at Side 3, things have gone terrible for Londo Bell. Funding for Londo Bell had been reduced in order to allocate more resources to the Titans. In addition, a good portion of Londo Bell personnel have been transferred to the Titans to help increase their numbers, something a good deal of transfers found deplorable. Especially when it was revealed how the Titans typically operate.

Though Bright will admit they were good at their job, having dealt with more Zeon Remnant groups than Londo Bell or E.C.O.A.S. did since their inception, he found their actions deplorable. In the few joint operations he had the misfortune of participating in, he was completely disgusted with the lack of empathy and restraint the Titans had towards both their enemies and the surrounding environment. They cared little about collateral damage so long as they acquired their objective and often used more ordinances than necessary in order to rout or destroy their targets. Something Bright found wasteful.

They're competent and efficient, yes, but Bright found their collateral damage and lack of restraint to be concerning. So far, nothing no Zeon Remnant groups were found in any of the colonies or in the lunar cities, but if one was indeed found in those locations, he feared the repercussions to the Earth Federation if the Titans didn't restrain themselves in such an environment.

Hoping that such a thing will never come to pass, Bright saw that his ship was fully docked and thus looked to his security chief, who had been there since the very beginning. Derick Carmine.

"Sergeant Major, get ready to depart with your men. We have a meeting to get to." Said Bright as he got off the captain's chair and walked towards Derick, who just saluted.

"Yes sir." Said Carmine before following Bright towards the nearest exit. As they walked, Carmine suddenly spoke up. "Permission to speak freely sir?"

"Granted." Said Bright as he looked at his security chief, who sighed before speaking.

"I hate the fact that we're forced to work with those asshole Titans, sir. Why the hell did High Command think this was a good idea? They know for a fact that Londo Bell and the Titans hate each other." Asked Carmine. Carmine wasn't wrong. The two Special Task Groups hated each other for different reasons. The Titans, the radical and new ones anyway, despised Londo Bell. Finding them weak-willed, and naïve with their policies. They believe that Londo Bell is too soft to protect the Earth Sphere and often use what happened in Side 3 and the Delaz fleet as evidence for their claims.

On the other hand, Londo Bell found the Titans deplorable because of their arrogance, lack of restraint on missions, and their utter disregard for the civilian populace in the Space Colonies. Needless to say, both organizations hate each other and it was growing with each passing day. And Bright was no exception to this, he meet Jamitov once and he can safely say he despised the man for his views and arrogance.

Sighing at what Carmine said, Bright spoke up.

"I know, sergeant, but we have to do it regardless." Said Bright as they walked and meet up with Bright's security team, which was numbering around a dozen people. "High Command and the Earth Federation High Council have noticed the growing hostilities between Londo Bell and the Titans. So, they have this joint operation done in order to help improve relations. Despite our recent hardships, Londo Bell still has a good reputation and influence amongst the colonies due to our previous successes. Enough that the High Council made this little scheme. It'll look bad on them, after all, if the Titans don't get along with one of the most beloved organizations in the Earth Federation Forces."

"That doesn't mean I have to like it." Said Carmine as he looked at Bright as they exited the White Base. "Especially when the Titans covered up what they did in Side 1." Bright sighed at that before nodding, knowing what he was referring to.

"I know." Said Bright with restrained anger as he remembered that day and how he grew to despise the Titans even more than he already did. "And because of their actions, they made an entirely new enemy for us to fight. An enemy that wouldn't have existed if they just showed the necessary restraint needed to quell that riot. Still, we have our orders, and we have to follow them. Just keep your feelings towards the Titans to yourself, sergeant. We don't want to cause an incident because of them." Carmine nodded in understanding at that. The group of Londo Bell personnel then entered an elevator that took them to the nearest tram station. From there, they'll take a tram to the military section of the colony and then the real work can begin. Unfortunately, they'll suffer a slight hitch on the way there. Because just as the elevator stopped at their destination, they suddenly heard a commotion. Turning around, the group found a young boy getting beat up by several Federation personnel. Titans, judging by their uniforms. Upon seeing this, Bright instantly went there to stop them from beating up the poor boy with Derick and several soldiers following with him.

"Stop!" Yelled Bright as he ran towards them. His voice made the Titans stop and look at him. "Just what on Earth are you soldiers doing!? Unhand that boy and explain yourself!" As the Titans reluctantly obeyed his orders, Bright looked at the boy and had Derick tend to him. Looking at the Titans he ordered them to explain what was going on and why they attacked that boy.

In a section of the colony that was dangerously close to the areas reserved for the Titans, the blue-haired man from before was walking towards the sections of the colony meant for military and authorized personnel only. Now wearing a brown trench coat and white pants, the man looked around for any security robots or military police. After finding none, he stealthily made his way over a fence and ran towards a nearby truck. Seeing the two drivers distracted over something, the man got into their truck and hid in the back without them noticing. Soon the drivers got back to work and began operating their truck, taking it deeper into the restricted areas. As the truck drove on, the man smirked as he thought about the plan.

"Here's hoping that Bright won't get in the way." Thought the man with a smile as he remembered his old commanding officer. "I hate for him to get caught in the crossfire in whatever shape or form."
