Shinji sat in a Mig-55 D transport helicopter, he was bored, for some reason Gendo had requested that the 2nd child be brought over from Germany a month earlier. He also made sure that Misato was sent to pick her up, who in turn decided that if she had to go so did he. Of course when Kensuke heard that he was allowed to take friends he was eager to be one of those friends, as for Toji he just wanted to go because he could be near Misato,
"Wow! A Mig-55 D transport helicopter! I never thought I'd get a chance to fly in one of these hot mama's! Man it's great having a famous buddy like you, right Shinji?!" gushed Kensuke.
Shinji chuckled, "Sure Kensuke, just don't wet yourself in excitement. I don't think you'd be very popular if you did."
"Yeah, I thought you must be getting sick of being cramped up, in the mountains. So I thought It'd be nice to invite you guy to come along with me on this little date." said Misato turning around to face them,
"What?! Are you saying this is a real date we're having Misato? And I bought this cap especially for today, just for you, I'll never take it off." gushed Toji,
"Humph! If you want a date all you had to do was ask! I think I was free tomorrow." said Shinji, "So, where are we going?"
"Oh, we're just going to take a little cruise on that cute little boat, down there." she said nodding her head towards the window,
"Oh my God!!!" cried Kesuke, "One, two three, four, five air craft carriers and four battle ships!!! Wow what a fleet!!"
"That's your, 'cute little boat?'." asked Toji,
"Yeah, she's gorgeous!" said Kensuke, "She's the pride of the U.N. combined fleet the super carrier, 'Over the Rainbow'!"
"Definitely isn't, 'little' as you put it, Misato." commented Shinji,
"Personally, I'm surprised that crusty old relic is still afloat." said Misato,
"Nah, it's not so bad. It's a vintage model, from just before the second impact." said Kensuke. As soon ass the copter had landed Kesuke was off, he ran from one jet to another, "Cool, cool, cool, cool! This is way to cool! I'm so happy I want to cry! Look at those antennas and dishes and guns and launch pads! Aw man! Cool look at that, over there!" Shinji shook his head at his friends antics, he wasn't entirely sure but he thought Kensuke was getting off on just being this close to some of these jets. He personally couldn't see the attraction,
"Hey! Somebody get my cap!" shouted Toji as he ran by chasing after his cap. Shinji shrugged stretching, his were killing after being cramped up in that little copter. He wasn't too surprised when he heard Toji cursing someone,
"Well hello, Misato. How have you been?" asked a red headed girl,
"Just fine, goodness you've grown some, haven't you?" said Misato,
"Uh-huh and I'm not just taller, my figure's filled out as well." said the girl,
"Not by much I bet." muttered Shinji.
Misato swatted him over the head, "Let me introduce you. This is the designated pilot of unit-02, the second child, Asuka Langley Soryu."
Shinji smirked as his eyes glowed as they did, a small gust of wind blew by. Although the gust wasn't strong enough Asuka's dress blew up, allowing all three of the boys to see her underwear,
"Sie! (SLAP!) Wenig! (SLAP!) Perverts!" ("You! Little! Perverts!") the third slap didn't follow as Shinji leaned back dodging the slap,
"What the heck did you do that for?!" growled Toji,
"That was the viewing fee! Quite a bargain, don't you think?" asked Asuka.
Shinji put his hand on Toji's shoulder stopping any retort he'd planned. Holding his hand out palm facing up he smirked, "Not really, it's a little over priced. But we want our money's worth!" with that he flicked his hand up, with it went Asuka's dress again. She quickly held her dress down glaring at Shinji,
You little pervert! You'll pay for that!" she growled. Shinji smirked and motioned for her to attack him, she accepted,
"All muscle and no brain." commented Toji as Asuka rushed Shinji.
Shinji smirked as he dodged Asuka's sloppy right punch, he hopped over her roundhouse tapping her on the nose. She growled as she spun around hoping to catch him off guard. Shinji casually stood with his back to her waiting, as she lashed out a straight punch he leaned his head to the side her fist passing his head by a centimetre. He brought his hand up and grabbed her wrist, smirking evilly he threw her up into the air.
Misato watched as Asuka was sent at least forty feet into the air, she shuddered, even when Shinji flew at that height she was nervous and she knew he wouldn't drop her. As she came down she screamed, Shinji yawned as he caught her mere centimetres from the ships deck,
"You should be careful when you fly without wings, you could hurt yourself." said Shinji laughing as he walked away. When Asuka was sure nobody was watching, she leaned down kissing the deck thankful to have something solid beneath her feet. Standing up she walked over to where the others were standing with their backs to her, she paused thinking about attacking Shinji from behind, only to remember what happened to her a few minutes ago,
"So, which one is the famous third child?" she turned to look at Toji, "Don't tell me it's the jock."
Misato shook her head, "Don't worry, it's him." she said looking at Shinji,
Asuka paled, "What?! You mean that psycho is the, third child?!"
"Hey! I resent that! I'm not a child!" cried Shinji indignantly,
"So you agree you're a psycho?" asked Asuka,
"To some extent, all pilots are, you more so." he said casually,
"What do you mean by that?!" she growled,
"You're just as willing to kill as me or Rei, if not more. We kill because if we, don't we'll die, you kill because people praise you for it." he said,
"And what makes you think you know me?" she asked.
Shinji smirked, "I read your psychological profile."
"What?! When?!" asked Misato and Asuka in unison,
"Before we left, I asked Rits if she'll let me read it. She was a bit reluctant at first, but a nice massage will loosen anybody up." he explained, Misato and Asuka could only stare in disbelief, where as Kensuke and Toji congratulated him.
Shinji grumbled as he stood on the bridge with Toji, Kesuke, Asuka and Misato. He knew the Admiral was going to be a pain in the ass and he couldn't do anything about it. Because of his little stunt with Asuka on the deck, Misato had reprimanded him and warned him not to do anything like it again. Of course he wanted to get this over with, he could feel a familiar power on the ship and he wanted to find and destroy it. To do that he'd have to scare the Admiral into handing over Unit-02, he wanted to hold the Admiral over the edge of the deck and threaten to drop him if he didn't give them Unit-02. But Misato wouldn't like that so he couldn't do it,
"Hmm, Nerv. And from your antics on the deck I was quite sure you were the leader of this boy scout group, obviously I was mistaken." said the Admiral as he looked at Misato's ID,
"Thank you for all your gracious hospitality, Admiral." said Misato,
"No thank you, for giving me the opportunity to baby-sit so many more children." grumbled the Admiral,
"And thank you for your assistance in the marine transport of Eva, Unit-02. Here are the specifications for the emergency power supply." she said handing him some documents.
The Admiral gave them a once over, "Humph! You've wasted a trip, I'd never approve any request to activate that toy while at sea in the first place."
"Think of it as being prepared for an emergency, the Eva is quite valuable, sir." said Misato,
"So valuable that it requires the entire pacific fleet has to be pulled for guard duty?" asked the Admiral, "Exactly when did the U.N. decommission us into a bloody cargo service?"
"If my memory serves me correctly, it was just after a certain organization was established." said the Admiral's second in command,
"Guarding a children's toy! What a ridiculously grandiose assignment for the entire pacific fleet!"
"The Eva is more valuable than your life, Admiral." said Shinji, "Of course, in my books you're not worth shit. The Evas on the other hand, are worth their weight in gold." Shinji couldn't help but smile at seeing the admiral's face at his comment.
Misato decided to interrupt before Shinji said something worse, "It's still not enough, not when you considering the importance of the Evas. Sign these transfer documents, please."
"Not just yet." said the Admiral smirking at Shinji, "Eva Unit-02 and its pilot have been entrusted to us by the third branch in Germany. You're not just going to waltz in and do as you please, Captain Katsuragi!"
Shinji glared at him, "So when will you transfer them?" he asked hoping to be able to have at least some fun,
"Once we've unloaded in, New Yokosuka." answered the second in command,
"The ocean is our jurisdiction. You will follow our orders here." said the Admiral,
"Hey Misato? Can I throw him of the carrier? It'll be so much fun!" asked Shinji hopefully.
Misato glared at him, "After you little stunt?! No!" she turned to the pale faced Admiral, "I understand. However, I should remind you that, in an emergency, Nerv's military authority overrides your own."
"She's awesome." swooned Toji,
"She actually sounded like Rit-chan." said Shinji,
" 'Rit-chan?'." asked Misato,
"Well, yeah. We might not use Japanese suffixes anymore but I think it fits!" said Shinji,
"Well, you're as confident as always." said a male voice from the door,
"Kaji!" gushed Asuka,
"Mister Kaji, I must insist you stop inviting yourself on to the bridge." grumbled the Admiral,
"Oh, sorry about that." replied the unshaven man.
"What are you doing here?!" asked Misato angrily,
"I'm accompanying her. I'm on a business trip from Germany, of a sorts." replied Kaji,
"Man talk about careless, I should have anticipated something like this." she complained,
"Hey! Watch where you're touching me!" shouted Asuka and Misato,
"Sorry, couldn't resist." said Shinji.
The cafeteria…
"So, do you have a boyfriend, right now?" asked Kaji,
"I don't think that's any of your business, is it?"
"I'm hurt, how can you be so mean?" leaning forward he looked at Shinji, "I hear you living with Katsuragi?"
"Um-hm." replied Shinji,
"So, tell me something. Is she still wild in bed?"
"I wouldn't know she doesn't like to sleep with strange men and I'm as strange as they come." said Shinji,
"What?! How dare you ask that!!" screeched Misato,
"No, I guess she hasn't changed much has she, Shinji?"
Shinji raised an eyebrow, "And how did you know my name, Mister Kaji?"
"Everyone knows you, you're pretty famous in the defence business, you know. The famous third child, who piloted an Eva in his first battle without any prior training." explained Kaji,
"Humph! Fighting an Angel is no different than fighting Demons, the only difference is that I fight them using the Eva instead of hand to hand." said Shinji casually.
"So what do you think of the third child?" asked Kaji,
"So what, the great third child, he's nothing but a psycho." said Asuka,
"Maybe, but his sync ratio was 100 in combat with no prior training." said Kaji,
"What?! That can't be!" exclaimed Asuka.
On some escalators…
"That Admiral's attitude gets on my nerves, you should have let Shinji throw him overboard." complained Toji,
"He's full of himself alright, to much pride's bound to make him cynical. And I don't think throwing him overboard would change that." said Misato,
"True, but it would have made me feel better." said Shinji, "Of course, mister Kaji was rather lively."
"He hasn't changed at all that chauvinistic jerk!" grumbled Misato,
"Hey, third child!" came Asuka's voice from the top of the escalator, "You're coming with me!" Shinji shrugged and followed her.
After a quick helicopter ride they landed on another air craft carrier, Asuka lead him over to a spot on the deck covered in tarpaulin lifting up the tarpaulin she smiled smugly,
"Uh-huh, a tomato." commented Shinji,
"It's not a tomato! It's my Eva!" growled Asuka,
"Whatever you say, I bet you picked the colour." he said. Asuka glared at him as she lead him under the tarpaulin, climbing up it she stood on the back of Unit-02,
"Unit-00 and Unit-01 were the prototype and test type respectively, the fact that Unit-01 synchronized with an untrained pilot like you, is proof of that. However Unit-02 is a little different. My Unit-02 is the world's first real Evangelion! Created for real life combat conditions, it the first production model." explained Asuka. Shinji began to chuckle it wasn't long before he was laughing out loud, "What are you laughing at?!" asked Asuka angrily,
"You really think that Unit-01 would sync with anyone? You know nothing about the Evas, only I could sync with Unit-01. That's why Gendo specifically brought me in. If Unit-01 could sync with anyone he could have had anyone sync with it. And now, nobody but myself or someone I allow, can pilot it. You're a fool, I might not be able to sync with your Eva or even Rei's for that matter. But I know what the Evas are, I know what they were made from. Only I will ever get a sync ratio of 100, because I'm one with my Eva. I feel her pain, I feel the love she has for me, I care for the soul in my Eva. I bet don't even know who's soul is in your Eva!" Shinji paused as he looked out towards the sea,
"What are you looking at?" asked Asuka,
"It would seem an Angel's arrived, I'll distract him." said Shinji as he faded from sight,
"What Angel?" she asked, seconds later there was a loud explosion.
Shinji's form shimmered into existence on one of the battle cruisers between the Angel and the air craft carrier with the spare power supply, ("Gaghiel! Come out and face me you piece of shit!") bellowed Shinji telepathically,
("Ah, Shinji or is it Quetzalcoatl or perhaps you prefer Garuda? I just can't seem to tell.") chuckled Gaghiel as he sprang from the water onto the battleship Shinji was on.
Shinji raised and eyebrow, "You aren't in your giant form?" asked Shinji looking at Gaghiel. Gaghiel's appearance reminded him of a science experiment gone wrong, he looked like a cross between a human and a shark (AN: Think of that old cartoon Street Sharks.)
Gaghiel gave Shinji a toothy grin, ("Now, now. When I beat you I want everyone in both heaven and hell to know I beat you in my true Angel form and not my giant form!")
Shinji smirked as he started his own transformation, "You really think you can beat me? I've fought hundreds of Demons in this form!" he said just as his mouth changed into a beak, his hair changed colour and morphed into feathers, "I'll hang your head from my wall when I rip it off!" he clenched his fist as they became talons, "You shall die by my hands and not my Evas! You actually stood a chance of defeating me in my Eva, you're used to your giant form where as I'm still getting used to it." Shinji stood fully transformed on the battleship his feathers fluttering as the wind blew around them, he glared at Gaghiel, "Before I rip you limb from limb, I want to know some thing. Why are you here, attacking these weaklings?"
Gaghiel let off a triumphant laugh, ("I'm here looking for my father. One of you precious humans has him and I've come to liberate him!")
Shinji paused as he looked from ship to ship his eyes glowing as he did, "Ah! There you are!" he turned back to Gaghiel, "Thanks for the information, I could feel a familiar power but I couldn't recognize it!"
Gaghiel's eyes widened, ("You knew he was here?!")
Shinji nodded, "Of course. I felt him as soon as I arrived, I just didn't know who it was I could feel." Shinji smirked evilly, "And when I'm finished with you, I'll deal with him. Hah! I can end it all here and now!" he stopped his rant as his mind dawned on who might have him, 'Kaji! He's the one who has Adam! But why……Gendo!!!' Shinji snarled, "That traitorous son of a bitch! He's trying to cause the third impact!" he paused yet again as he heard a jet engine taking off, sending out his senses he felt Adams power inside and he wasn't the only one,
("Adam!") exclaimed Gaghiel as two leathery bat-like wings sprouted from his back as he took off after the jet. Shinji's feathered wings shot out of his back as he faded from sight appearing in front of Gaghiel,
"Ahahah! Not yours so don't steal." Shinji cocked his fist back hitting Gaghiel hard in the stomach sending him back towards the battleship. Gaghiel crashed into the deck of the ship with a loud boom, creating a large dent. Standing up Gaghiel retracted his wings as he clutched his left shoulder. Shinji hovered down landing on the ship facing Gaghiel.
Gaghiel glared at him, ("You're stupid, Shinji! Who's hands do you think Adam would be best in? Do you really think he's in better hands?")
Shinji shrugged, "Not really, but at least in Gendo's hands I've still got a chance to stop the third impact. Where as in your hands the third impact would happen then and there, nice try though."
Gaghiel chuckled, ("It was worth a try.") with that he rushed forward throwing a punch at Shinji, Shinji casually leaned back the punch passing over his head. As Gaghiel pulled his fist back he followed it, head butting Gaghiel. Gaghiel stumbled back clutching his head, ("Ow! Do you know how much that hurt?!") he asked,
Shinji paused leaning his head to one side, "This is a fight, it's supposed too." he deadpanned. Shinji shot forward at the last second he jumped grabbing Gaghiel's head, twisting in midair he gripped the Angel's head tightly he slammed it down hard on the deck. He followed up by stomping his foot on Gaghiel's head, jumping back he waited.
Gaghiel stumbled to his feet, ("Heh, you were right. I won't win in this form.") Shinji waited for Gaghiel to rush at him and was surprised when Gaghiel instead ran to the edge of the ship,
"Gaghiel, you piece of shit! Get back here and fight like a Demon!" growled Shinji as he looked around trying to sense him,
("Now now, Shinji. I'm not a Demon, I don't fight in my true form.") replied Gaghiel,
"Oh? And what about on the plains? I fought you and your brothers and sisters. You didn't take you giant form there." countered Shinji,
("The plains were different! I was blocked from taking my giant form, by the Almighty!") explained Gaghiel.
Shinji intended to reply but stopped when he felt Unit-02 activate, "Damn! About time! Well, Gaghiel. It seems my ride has arrived, now we'll finish this!" Shinji shifted back to his human form as he shimmered out of sight.
((Damn it! Where's the Angel?!)) grumbled Asuka sitting in the entry plug of Unit-02,
((He's under water.)) said Shinji from behind her startling her,
((How the hell did you get in here?!)) she demanded,
((Explanations later, Angel now.)) said Shinji, ((Right now we need to get to the carrier with the spare cable.))
Asuka paused looking for the carrier, ((There it is! Ever played hop scotch?)) she asked,
((…You're kidding, right?)) asked Shinji, ((If we miss just one of the ships we're done for! We only got the B-type equipment on!))
Asuka smirked, ((That's what makes it interesting.))
((And you call me a psycho.)) muttered Shinji, as Asuka made the first jump. He grit his teeth as seconds after they jumped Gaghiel crashed through the ship sinking it, ((Damn you, Gaghiel!))
((What did you say?)) asked Asuka hearing his curse,
((Nothing, just get us to that cruiser!)) he said, ((I'll keep an eye on the Angel.))
Asuka made the second jump then the third and finally the last, as soon as they touched down Asuka attached the cable just as the internal power ran out,
((Holy shit!!!)) said Shinji as Gaghiel surfaced, ((He's the biggest yet!)) Shinji actually gulped, Unit-02 was only as big as one of Gaghiel's teeth.
Asuka smirked, ((The prog-knife will do the trick.)) she said as the shoulder opened to reveal an Eva sized knife.
Shinji stared at the knife then looked at the gigantic form of Gaghiel, ((You think that tooth pick is gonna pierce his skin?!?!)) Gaghiel dived under water before jumping out onto both Unit-02 and the carrier's deck, with strength not thought possible Unit-02 lifted Gaghiel up above it's head, only to loose balance and send both itself and Gaghiel overboard,
#Asuka! It's impossible to fight under water using the B-type equipment!# said Misato over the ships microphone,
((You know what they say, 'You don't know, until you try!'.)) replied Asuka, as Unit-02 clung to the Angel,
#The cables about to run out! Brace for the shock!# warned Misato,
((Damn it!)) cried Asuka as Unit-02 lost it's grip on Gaghiel, ((Where is it?))
Shinji pointed in front of them, ((He's right there.))
Asuka glared at the Angel, ((Now I'll finish it!)) she tightened her grip and willed her Eva to move, ((What the…why isn't it moving?!))
((You're using the B-type equipment.)) said Shinji,
((Well do something!)) ordered Asuka,
Shinji grit his teeth, 'Must not kill! Must not kill!' ((Fine!)) moving around he leaned next to her grabbing the Evas controls, ((I hope this works.))
Unit-02 shakily pointed it's palm at Gaghiel, bringing it's other hand up to grip the wrist. A ball of energy appeared in it's palm as it grew when the ball was the same size as Unit-02's hand the ball was transformed into a beam. Gaghiel easily dodged the energy beam being in his element, he rushed forward opening his maw he bit down on Unit-02 ((Damn it!!!)) growled Shinji,
#Asuka, do you read me? Don't let that Angel get away!# ordered Misato.
Shinji paused, ((She isn't going to do, what I think she's going to do?))
#Correct!# said Misato to the Admiral, #We'll sink the two evacuated battleships in line with the umbilical cable as a trap. When the Eva opens the Angel's mouth, both ships will rush in the opening. Once inside the Angel the ships computers will be activated via remote control, they will then fire all of their bow turret cannons and then self destruct, destroying the target.# she explained,
((Oh man! She'll be the death of me!)) complained Shinji hearing her idea,
#Shinji, Asuka, do you understand the operation?# she asked,
((Unfortunately.)) said Shinji he grit his teeth as the cable was pulled in, ((She could have at least warned us.)) he grumbled, ((Well it's now or never!)) both he and Asuka willed the Eva to open Gaghiel mouth, this was rather troublesome, since Gaghiel's teeth were pierce Unit-02's body,
((Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open! Open!)) chanted Asuka and Shinji.
The Evas eyes glowed as it received a sudden burst of strength. It opened the Angel's huge mouth, as the two battleships entered the mouth. They fired their cannons and exploded, the Eva was sent skywards as the Angel exploded. It landed in a crouch on the carrier, seconds later it collapsed on the deck out of power.
Kensuke and Toji stood on some steps watching as Unit-02 was lifted by crane, off the deck of the carrier. Toji turned as Asuka walked past his gaze went back up the steps as Shinji walked down then Gaghiel's head on his shoulder, "W-W-What are you doing with that?!" screamed Toji,
("He's hanging me on his wall.") drawled the Angel telepathically,
"W-W-WHAT?! It's still alive?!" he screeched,
Shinji shook his head, "Of course."
"But isn't he dangerous?" asked Kensuke.
Shinji shrugged, "No, to do that he'd need his core."
Kensuke and Toji stared wide-eyed as Shinji continued down the steps as the same scene played out with Misato and then Ritsuko.
"She may have looked cute, but she was a real bitch!" complained Toji as they waited for class to start,
"Well, we won't have to see her again." assured Kensuke.
Toji chuckled, "Yeah, but mister big shot here, still has to go work with her everyday. I fell sorry for him."
All three of them turned when the classroom door slid open, Toji fell of his chair in shock, "Ahhh!!!" he cried pointing at Asuka.
She ignored him as she walked over to the blackboard writing her name on it, "My name's Asuka Langley Soryu. Charmed, huh?"
Toji stared shock evident on his face, Shinji stared as well his eyebrow twitching, "There is no way life can be this cruel." he muttered.
Well there's chapter four. God, this is first time I've updated so soon and will probably be the last time as well. (Sigh) Oh well, next chapter 7th Angel.
