Adamant for Adaman
Mission Gone Wrong
Part 2
Author Notes: Ok folks, our first dose of holiday one shot week is done. So that means it is back to uploading. With a continuation to the last chapter. Let's get started. I do not own Pokemon.
3rd P.O.V
"Shishi!" Clouds of air puffed out of Adaman's mouth as he took several deep breaths. He's been calling for hours, searching for hours. Yet there was still so much area to cover. "Shishi!" It didn't help that there were less volunteers than planned. A sense of hatred overtook him, recalling what occurred.
Adaman glanced over each and every person here. "Is this it?" And he was not pleased. Though he was glad to see a few familiar faces such as Laventon, Rei, Akari, Irida, as well as members from both respected clans...there was only three or so others that came to help represent Jubilife Village.
One of them being the reason Shishi disappeared in the first place. "Was there really no more for the commander to spare?" Irida knew what he was feeling loud and clear, she couldn't believe it either.
"We were all that were willing to come." This was ridiculous...After all Shishi has done for that village, this is what she gets? It's been nearly a year since she first fell from this world, and throughout her time she has done nothing but slave away for the Galaxy Expedition team.
Adaman had seen how much effort the girl's put into helping people in need. Dozens upon dozens of requests she's gone about risking her life to accomplish. Yet only a handful of people come from her clan when she needs aid?
The Diamond clan leader swore, after he finds her, he's convincing her to settle with his people. Hell-he'd be fine if she stayed as a member of the Pearl clan at this point. Because it was frustrating seeing just how little she's truly been appreciated and cared for.
"What are your orders brother?" Unfortunately(for once) he could not afford to waste time with such thoughts. There was a friend to rescue. And it seemed everyone looked to him for leading the search. So he takes a headcount of the number of people actually there.
An uneven number, but that was fine. "Split up into groups ranging between two and four. We will all spread out and look for her as long as we can handle the temperatures. Send out pokemon as well to assist and protect you." He pauses for a moment.
Waiting for the groups to rearrange themselves. Of course his sister Mai and their partner pokemon take place by his side. "Should you find her or find yourselves in trouble, have one of your pokemon shoot out an attack towards the sky, showing us your position. Everyone will follow the signal and help."
No one could afford to be reckless. This territory with its unpredictable weather, cold climate and hostile pokemon, is probably one of the most dangerous to deal with. Especially when it involved a search and rescue.
However...Adaman and the rest that stand here before him knew without a shadow of a doubt, that if Shishi herself learned that there was someone out here missing(and throughout the region there has been such situations) that she would give it her all to find them.
So they would work, and work until they've brought her home.
"There's been no signals in the sky yet." It was both good news and bad as Adaman huffed. Blowing some warmth into his hands he sets off again. His memories of the past day reinvigorating his attempts. "Shishi!" He would keep going.
Even if all the others abandoned hope. Even if it takes days or weeks, he would not give up. Sadly however there were still limits. The cold was starting to pass through his clothes, numbing his limbs. It wouldn't be long before he and the others would have to return to base.
But his gaze narrowed as he took in the landscape before him. The ground was beginning to rumble. "What in the name of Almighty Sinnoh?" There had to be a pokemon responsible for it. But where? And why?
"Brother behind you!" Mai gave him just enough time to move. His eyes wide as rocks burst through the snow. "An Alpha!" A giant purple reptile with crimson eyes roared before sending another pillar of stones their way.
There wasn't much time. "Leafeon, use razor leaf towards the sky! Alert the others!" The beast was massive, yet surprisingly fast as it raced towards them. "What is this creature weak to!?"
Glaring at the two of them with bloodlust. "It's able to use an earth attack-leafeon!" Without even needing to give a command the grass eeveelution uses razor leaf again. The sharp leaves slash right into its chest and eyes, stunning it.
Though that only made it angrier, making it all the more relentless with its strikes. The grounds continued to shake, fissures formed claw like designs into the earth. "Ugh!" It was moving too fast, it took everything just to dodge.
"Adaman! Mai!" Their friends were coming. "Munclax-rollout!" And the tiny glutton was trying to buy time. Stirring up the snow to distract the strange pokemon. "Look out!" But it seemed the large alpha had allies of its own.
Small blue reptiles came forth, spewing energy blasts and earth strikes as well. "Professor what are these things!?" That wasn't the right question. "How do we stop it!?" The elder man shook his head, regret filling his being.
Dread filled everyone's stomach. "I don't know! This is the first time I've ever encountered such a monster." This was the worst possible scenario. And none of them were even remotely prepared for it. Yet hope was not lost as a familiar cry makes way to their ears.
"Pix!" A flash of yellow and white zoom by, startling everyone as blasts of icy wind shoot towards the aggressive pokemon. "It's my Keokeo! What is it riding?!" Eyes widened in surprise as a familiar kitsune rushes forth, the snowpix on her back. "That's-!" It was Shishi's pokemon partner.
Ninetales. Without any orders the pair of elemental foxes go forth. Striking against the onslaught of enemies. "Raaaaaaaaa!" The purple one specifically seemed displeased to see them. Working twice as hard to try and eliminate them.
However no matter what direction it struck, it just kept missing the fire and ice duo. Their combined efforts and speedy maneuverings actually pushing it back. It's little assistants running away. "Leafeon go to their aid!" This was the chance they needed.
"Come on!" To think that they were able to send an alpha pokemon on the run. Its defenses and moral low. "We did it!" But no matter how great a victory it was, there was no time to celebrate. "Nine!" Not when ninetales comes forth, tugging at Adaman's haori.
Her owner nowhere in sight. "Lead me to her." The moment Keaka's little keokeo hopped off the fire fox's back they were off. Racing across the frosty terrain once more. "Wait for us!" There was no time to, the blazing canine was desperate, crying out as she sped off.
But there, not too far off was an opening. Smaller than some of the ice caverns scattered about, but still wide enough to fit multiple people. He watched as the ninetales leaped down, disappearing from sight.
It was no wonder there was no sign of Shishi to be found. She was nowhere above the surface. "Adaman." He didn't bother waiting for the others. Instead he and his leafeon followed their guide's lead. Jumping into the opening.
His feet tingled as he gracefully landed, not expecting such a deep bottom, but any thoughts froze dead in its tracks as he looked around. "Nine!" There, huddled a few yards away was a series of pokemon, the other keokeo included. All of them were cuddled around the unconscious trainer.
"Shishi!" He wasted no further time, with one final burst of energy he reached her side. Falling to his knees so his fingers could cradle her head. Only to flinch at how cold her skin was. "Dear Almighty Sinnoh please...don't let me be too late." His bandaged hand ghosted over her face.
Relieved to feel breath warm it. It was hard to tell with the bundle of pokemon around her and layers she was wearing, but she was breathing and shivering. "Adaman are you alright!?" She was alive. "Yes! And I found Shishi!" He had to get her out of here.
Fast. "You all did wonderful work." Smiling at her pokemon(the girl really did have a love for fire types didn't she?) before gingerly wrapping his arms around her frame. Even with the extra weight from her clothes, she was far too light.
"Is she alright?!" Even worse, there was something soaking through the fabric, coating his fingers. "Dear gods, no wonder." He was so glad he wasted no time in looking for her. "Hang on Shishi. I got you." Because with the wounds still bleeding through alongside the chill, it wouldn't take long for her to be at death's door.
"We need to bring her back to base immediately! She's injured."
to be continued
Author Notes: I mentioned I'm a cruel fanfiction author right? I like torturing characters. And in pokemon-anything goes, if the manga is something to follow anyways. But uh, that's it for this mini duo shot.
Next one will be another two chapter mini series, though more canon based to the main story-so I will give a warning both here, and next chapter's author notes. Unless you've reached late story or finished the game, I would not recommend reading further as it will have spoilers.
Ahem with that all out of the way, that is it. Everyone thank you all so much for reading this story. If you like what you see so far please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a lot to me. See you all next time. Tchao for now.
