"Hiei?" Yukina called to him.
"Yes?" He looked up at her.
"Have you found him? My brother?" Yukina looked hopeful.
"What do you expect?" Hiei asked. "When you find him, what do you expect him to be like?"
"...I've always imagined him to be...rather like you...almost exactly like you." Yukina smiled.
Hiei's eyes clouded as he answered, "Do you want him to be like me? As you imagine?"
"Oh! Yes! Yes, of course I do! You're so kind to me, and you're just so wonderful! You're such a wonderful person." Yukina said.
"If he is like me, then do you know that you would have a killer for a brother? One who kills without regret?" Hiei asked her.
"You were only trying to protect yourself and the ones you love." Yukina smiled tenderly at him.
"Yukina...I know...where your brother is." Hiei said.
Yukina's eyes lit up. "You do?! Oh, where is he? Who is he?" She asked. She was obviously very happy.
Hiei took a deep breath and said, "I cannot tell you. Kurama knows, and he shall explain to you why I cannot tell you."
"Arigato, Hiei." Yukina's smiled once again at him. "I shall speak to Kurama."
Hiei nodded and said, "I will see you tomorrow then."
"Yes." Yukina answered. "And thank you again."
"Think nothing of it." And with that he was gone.
YUKINA'S THOUGHTS THAT NIGHT; BEFORE SHE TALKS TO KURAMA
Do I really want to know my brother? What if he is nothing like Hiei? What if he is a cold, harsh man? A cruel man? What would I do then? I don't know...I wish...Hiei were my brother...
But, that's impossible. I don't think Hiei would have kept it from me. But, I still hope he did. That would be so wonderful if Hiei were my brother! I would be so...so happy!!
All the same, I should still speak to Kurama...
I shall go tomorrow morning...
Yukina made a point of meeting Kurama on his way to school.
"Hello, Kurama!" She greeted cheerfully.
"Hello, Yukina." He replied.
"Hiei said I should talk to you about my brother. He said you would explain to me why he could not tell me himself. Will you?" Yukina asked after a few minutes of comfortable silence.
"If it is what Hiei wants me to do..." Kurama said. "Hiei himself is your brother. He did not tell you because he could not. He got his Jagan so he could find you, but as payment for it, he could not tell you he was your brother. And that is probably why he could not tell you himself." Yukina's eyes teared up. "Why are you crying?"
"I'm...so...happy!! Hiei is my brother after all! I understand now why he would always tell me he didn't know who my brother was. Thank you, Kurama." Yukina said.
"You're welcome." Kurama said.
"Bye!" Yukina said.
"Goodbye, Yukina!" Kurama said.
He is, he is!! Hiei's my brother!! I'm so happy! I don't blame him for not telling me. I wonder what Kazuma will say...I know how he doesn't like Hiei...I wish it were otherwise...
