NOVEMBER 2ND
12:00: PM JST
TOKYO-III FIRST MUNICIPAL SCHOOL
CLASSROOM 2-A
Shinji sat at his desk with his head down; he hadn't had much sleep since early this morning. His mind was filled with the same series of events that occurred in his dream.
His eyes were still puffy from last night's nightmares. He has an appointment with Dr. Buyo that is coming up, but could he tell her what happened? Could he tell her the full truth?
He wasn't paying attention to the boring old teacher, who prattled on about the Second Impact. While Mr. Nebukawa was nice, and all, he was boring and repetitive.
Shinji essentially tuned everything else out, spiraling into his thoughts further and further. His mind raced through many emotions at once, with the most often being…
Afraid.
He just wants them to not leave him.
. . .
. . .
. . .
RING!
The bell snapped him out of his thoughts as he snapped upwards. He quickly scanned the room and saw Asuka staring at him, who got up and walked over to him.
She made her way to his desk and leaned on it with one hand, an exasperated look on her face.
"You called me four times at like 3 AM… Did you have another nightmare?..."
Shinji nodded slowly. Sighing, Asuka thought to herself for a moment before answering.
"This is the first call of the month… And like what… seven times since I asked you out?..."
She didn't sound annoyed, but she did sound tired.
"Is everything at home ok? Is Ms. Naoko and Mr.Ikari ok?"
. . .
Shinji looked away, not facing her directly.
. . .
"I don't want to talk about it."
. . .
"Alright…"

SYNCH TESTING CHAMBER
OBSERVATION BOOTH
4:24 PM JST
"His Synch Rate is dropping… I swear it's those nightmares he keeps having…"
Ritsuko sighed, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and taking one into her fingers. Misato watched on as she was about to light one.
"I thought you quit?..."
Misato questioned, worried about her friend's relapse. Ritsuko stopped just as she was going to light it. She took a deep breath and pocketed both.
"Yeah. I did."
She stayed silent for a moment before gesturing back to the monitors.
"Maya, can you pull up Shinji's previous scores for me and compare them?"
"Will do."
Maya tapped away at her terminal, pulling up charts and graphs at an impressive rate.
"Here, it's not looking so good for him. He's down by five points since the last test…"
Ritsuko and Misato leaned over to see the comparisons. Ritsuko frowned and shook her head.
"46.42%... He's going to be very sluggish in the Evangelion…"
Misato was about to speak, but the alarm went off. They both knew what that meant…
"Fucking hell, speak of the devil… Get them prepped and onboard. Let's go to the bridge and see what we are up against this time."
"Mm."
NERV HQ
PRIMARY COMMAND BRIDGE
4:27 PM JST
"Target has already dropped several parts of itself over the Indian Ocean as some sort of orbit kinetic bombs. It has already caused a tsunami and has taken out a portion of Indonesia."
Everyone stared at the main monitor, observing the large creature before them. It hung around in low earth orbit, making slight adjustments to its trajectory.
They watched it as the satellites surrounding it soon crushed up, displaying a Signal Lost message on the screen.
"The Angel's projected rating on the Katsuragi Scale is 6.4444, It's a rather strong one…"
Makoto stated, reading the data presented to him on his tablet.
"None of our missiles are making contact with it-"
He was immediately cut off by a rumble that shook the whole facility.
"What was that?"
Misato asked, nearly being knocked over onto the floor.
The shaking subsided as everyone got their bearings back.
"It came from the containment zone! The 8th Angel is thrashing about violently!"
Maya said, hurriedly reading her tablet.
Misato scowled and turned to Ritsuko, who was just flabbergasted.
"I order you to terminate that thing! I don't care how you do it, Just get rid of that thing!"
Misato was pissed, they now had to deal with two angels. One was about to bomb them, and the other was thrashing in its cage.
"But-"
"No! I don't want to hear it! Kill it before they all kill us!"
. . . .
The room was silent.
"We'll… Get rid of it."
. . .
"Good. Now then… It seems like it's trying to drop down on us, using the kinetic bombs as tests, trying to locate us and use it as tracking. Do we have an estimate of what area it will crash at
Maya shook her head.
"Not yet, The two MAGI units are working on it, With some of Melchior's power being used to continue fixing Balthazar."
Naoko, who was standing in the corner, perked up.
"We can activate Balthazar now. She is stable enough that she can help do some calculations."
Misato raised an eyebrow.
"Are you sure? We don't need her to go berserk on us again."
Naoko nodded. She walked over and brought her tablet, showing the progress that has been done on Balthazar.
"See, It's only 84% complete. If we act now, we would have plenty of time to get the calculations done and sortie."
Misato took the tablet and looked over it, taking in the information being presented to her.
"It checks out for me, but it's up to Commander LeBlanc to make this decision."
She looked up at the commander's column and waited for his decision.
"I see no problems here, Just get these two things under control. We have already learned all we can from the angel in our custody, might as well put it out of its misery. Dr Akagi go take care of the angel, and uh.. Dr Akagi please take care of Balthazar…"
"Rodger."
"Understood."
ANGEL CONTAINMENT CHAMBER
4:30 PM JST
"It's quite a shame you had to be captured and imprisoned like this brother…"
Kaworu stood in the reinforced observation deck while the angel writhed around, trying to break free of its restraints.
Hurried footsteps came up from behind him and stopped midstep.
"Nagisa? What are you doing here?- Never mind- Just please leave, we are going to terminate him."
Ritsuko shoved aside the boy and began giving out orders to the crew stationed her.
Kaworu simply stared as the crew scrambled to euthanize the struggling angel.
He watched as it was restrained.
He watched as it was punctured in the sides.
He watched as it had its wounds flooded with bakelite.
. . .
"Sorry my brother."
PRIMARY COMMAND BRIDGE
BALTHAZAR COLUMN
4:32 PM JST
Naoko was typing away at her terminals, doing the final touches on reinstating Balthazar to active duty.
She looked up at the main monitor just in time to see that the other two MAGI units had completed the calculations already… And wouldn't you know, it was Tokyo-III…
Although slightly off by a few good kilometers. The blast radius was enormous! It would carve a humongous part out of the earth, not to mention kill millions of people in an instant.
"Fucking hell…"
She typed faster, going through checklist after checklist at a breakneck speed.
"Alright you old gal… Get ready to wake up…"
A quick smack of the enter key and the thrum of fans could be heard spinning up.
Her terminal sprang to life showing all the connections Balthazar was making.
UNIT BALTHAZAR RECONNECTED.
Naoko nodded to herself.
. . .
. . .
"Good girl."
WAR ROOM
4:43 PM JST
"YOU WANT US TO DO WHAT!?"
"You heard me, It's the only idea that the MAGI can agree could possibly work."
Shinji's confusion and rage could definitely be heard and seen.
"This is the dumbest idea I've ever heard!"
"Well do you have any better ideas smartass?!"
Misato snapped back, clearly tired of Shinji's rude behavior lately.
Shinji stood there silent. He knew he wouldn't win in this.
"Calm down Shinji.."
Asuka said, laying a hand on his shoulder only for him to pull it away. Sighing, she didn't push it further.
There was a moment of silence before Misato spoke up again.
"Go get boarded. We'll deploy you at the locations we need you to start at and we'll guide you in."
"Aye."
"Rodger."
"Yeah."
Sorry for the quality of the chapter, I'm not feeling too good right now, but I wanted to put something out, so here is this.
. . .
I'm taking back my story.
Take it or leave it.
