Driving to Mystic Falls with a sleeping three-year-old and newborn in my back seat is nice. They were awake just an hour ago. Finally, some peace and quite. I've rented a place in town. I guess I should introduce myself I am Tyra which means God of battle.
I met a man by the name of Nik at an art gallery four years ago. That resulted in my son. I then say with again about a year ago, that gave me my daughter. I thought it was time Nik met his kids. I am human. From what a witch told me I was able to have kids with Nik because he is part wolf. That the reason he never reproduced before now was because if you weren't a vampire, you wouldn't live passed the encounter. Either you were turned into a vampire or killed.
I didn't know Nik was a vampire or supernatural until I ran into a witch, and she told me about him and my children. She said that Nik would be able to protect us, because without him we would be in a lot of danger. He has made many enemies. She told me about him and his family and how they are the original vampires and were Vikings.
I named my son, Thor and my daughter, Freya after Norse mythology. I was told he was born with those beliefs, so I wanted to respect them. I also gave them his last name. I was hoping that would offer them some protection as well.
I pull in front of the house to get settled. Then I will set off to find Nik and tell him about his kids. I bring all the stuff I brought into the house and set it up. I keep the kids in the car as they are still sleeping. I keep an eye on them and make sure they aren't waking up as I take things back and forth. My three-year-old likes to create trouble wherever he can.
I see a sign on the school about a senor prank day. I talked to someone in the square about getting Thor into daycare. I want to put him in part time. He will enjoy being able to make friends with kids his own age and be able to run around. From what I understand the daycare is in the high school. I head to the school it's dark. Thor wakes up and wants to walk. I get him unbuckled and pull Freya's carrier out of the car. I take Thor's hand and Freya's carrier and bring them inside. I hear people talking in what looks like it could be the gym. I head in and see a guy with a vampire face. The doppelganger or so the witch told me, lying on the ground scared. Nik is in the middle of the complete chaos. I look over to the bleachers and see two teens, one a girl with her foot up and the male helping hold her up. They are both crying.
"Nik?" I ask.
"Tyra, what are you doing here?" he asks walking over to me blocking my view of what's going on. "Did Stefan bring you to spare his precious doppelganger?" Nik gives me a betrayed look.
"No, who's Stefan? I only know what a doppelganger is because I was told to avoid them like the plague." I say.
"Then why are you here?" He asks looking skeptical.
"I had my witch track you down. I needed to speak with you. I'm in the school because I was going to register Thor into daycare." I explain.
"Thor?" he asks one eyebrow raised.
"Yeah, can we step outside to talk?" I ask.
"Why?" He asks in return.
"I don't think you want everyone to hear what I'm about to tell you." I tell him.
"Alright," he agrees reluctantly. He and I step out. Thor trailing behind me. I'm not sure how Nik hasn't noticed him or Freya's carrier. "We are far enough that no one should hear you."
Thor is your son, and your daughter is Freya," I drop the bomb on him. better to get it over with sooner rather then later. He drags me back into the gym quickly.
"Chad and Danna take a break," he yells to them and then drags me back out of the gym. Thor is holding on to my pants for dear life. He is stumbling trying to keep up. He keeps looking up at Nik. He has seen pictures of him and knows he is his dad. We step into a classroom finally.
"What do you mean, they are mine?" he asks.
"I meant exactly what I said." I tell him.
"Are you sure they are mine? I can't reproduce." He stresses.
"Yes, I 'm sure. Ask your wolf. I'm told he will recognize his pups." I tell him. his eyes turn yellow for a moment then back.
"You gave me kids?" Nik ask looking in awe.
"Yes, I did. Thor has been waiting his whole life to meet you." I say.
"Well, let's not keep my prince waiting any longer, shall we." He says kneeling down to Thor's level. "Hi Thor."
"Daddy!" Thor cries stumbling while running to his arms before he face plants into Nik's chest. Nik chuckles while Thor talks a mile a minute. He picks Thor up. I place Freya's carrier with her in it on a desk. She is still sleeping.
"is this her?" he asks.
"Yeah, she still sleeps a lot. She's only a couple of months old." I tell him.
"She looks so small." He says in awe. Thor has laid his head down on Nik's shoulder. He seems to be getting sleepy. It is late.
"You were that small once," I say.
"I've been this big for a long time." He replies with.
"We should probably get home. Clearly the office isn't open, and Thor is very tired. If he gets more tired, he won't go down." I say.
"Can I come over when I'm done here?" he asks.
"I don't see why not. I can test you, my address." I say.
I hand him my phone and he puts his number into it. I quickly text him my address. He walks us back to the car and puts Thor in his car seat. Thor instantly falls asleep. He kisses my head then heads inside. We take the short drive back and I put them both in their beds. I head to my living room and start working. I'm a successful author. I have written a few successful books.
One thing I love about my job is I don't have to be in one place to do it. I can travel the world. James, my witch will be joining us tomorrow. His family was killed by scared humans. I invited him to stay for a few days and he has never left. He is sixteen and learning constantly. I hope Nik will try helping him get stronger and learn more. I have tried to help him as much as I can but being human, it can be difficult.
I hear a quiet knock of the door. I close my laptop and head over to open the door.
"Hi," Nik says.
"Hey, come on in," I say moving out of the way.
"Did the kids wake up when you got back?" he asks.
"No, they were both out for the night, thankfully. Well, Freya will wake up in about an hour to feed., but other then that she is a good sleeper. Thor was always a great sleeper and eater." I tell him, while he nods along.
"My sister wants to meet them." He tells me.
"Rebekah, right?" I ask.
"Yeah, would that be alright with you?" He asks.
"If she were to come after she's done school she can. We will be back by then." I respond.
"Thank you, I know she wanted to have kids but now being a vampire, she can't." He replies.
"I understand that. James will be joining us tomorrow." I tell him.
"James?" He growls, sounding jealous.
"Yeah, my witch," I state.
"Your witch? Are you and him together?" He asks getting upset. I pet his chest and he calms down a little under my touch.
"No, he's sixteen. He lost his family to burnings. He has been staying with me ever since. I was actually hoping you could help teach him magic." I say.
"Kol would be better to help him. He will know more." He says.
"Can you ask him to help James?" I ask him hopeful.
"He's daggered," He states.
"Oh, is there a way you could undagger him?" I plead.
"I'll think about it," he tells me.
"Thank you," I reply excitedly.
"That's not a yes," he says.
"But it's not a no, though." I say through a yawn.
"I should get going and you should get some sleep. Want me to come with you to get Thor registered for Daycare?" he asks as we walk towards the door.
"Yes, I also need to register Kames for school. I really do hope he will like it here," I say.
"Alright, how does ten A.M. work? I'll come here take you out to breakfast and then we go get everyone registered."
"Sure, James should be here by then," I reply.
"Perfect, see you then." He tells me giving me a quick kiss then leaves. Yeah, that's Nik for you. I feed Freya them head to sleep myself.
I'm woken bright and early in the morning to Freya's crying. I have her suckle my breast and start to get a snack ready for Thor. So, he isn't hungry. I hear a knock on the door. I pull my top over Freya and answer it.
"Hey, I thought I should come early because I remembered Thor might be hungry." Nik says. I chuckle.
"Yeah, he usually is when he wakes," I say.
"Freya still sleeping as well?" He asks. I burst out laughing, he gives me a confused look.
"She's right here." I tell him pulling my top down a little so he can see her peacefully suckling my breast. Nik brushes her cheek with his finger.
"You have no idea how much I love seeing you feed our pup," he growls out.
"Well, I do feed them both." I say walking into the kitchen. I put the ingredients away that I was going to use to make a crepe for Thor. I hear the door open and close.
"Hey mom, I made it," I hear James call out.
"Mom?" Nik questions.
"His family died close to the time when I got pregnant with Thor. He has been with me for four years now. So, he calls me mom," I respond with a smile. "You got a problem with that?"
"Of course not," he says quickly.
"You must be Nik." James says sticking his hand out to shake Nik's hand. They shake hands,
"Yes, I am Niklaus." He says.
"You've created a stir in the magical world first you're a hybrid making werewolves almost extinct, and you have two kids. Yup, quite a stir." James says. "Where's breakfast?" and… Nik was dismissed. I giggle a little.
"We are going out for it as soon as Thor wakes up," Nik says.
"Don't think just cause you're here now, that makes you father of the year," James says pissed off.
"James!" I exclaim.
"It's alright. He has a right to be upset," Nik says. "I didn't know I had kids. I know that's no excuse but all I can do now is try to be a good father to them. I had a horrible father. I don't want my kids to experience that. I undaggered my younger brother, Kol, this morning. He can teach you all the magic you don't know."
"You did that for me?" James asks.
"You, my kids, Tyra. All four of you. I owe you all at least that." Nik tells him.
"Okay, you get a pass as long as you take us somewhere with pancakes," James says, Nik chuckles.
"Cakes?" we hear from the doorway. We all whip around and see Thor in his dinosaur's pajamas rubbing his eyes. "James!" he exclaims running to give him a hug.
"Hey lil buddy. Ready for cakes? Dad's taking us out," James asks him.
"Yeah!" he yells out excitedly.
"I'll head up and get him changed and change myself." James says turning to us.
"I'll get Freya ready to go." I say. I head upstairs and Nik follows me. He changes her. He looks like he is trying very hard not to hurt her. She just smiles and kicks her legs at him. She is also trying to grab at things. He chuckles.
"She seems easy going," he comments.
"Well, I was thinking she got that from you because it wasn't from me," I say jokingly.
"She had to have gotten it from Elijah because he is the most easy going. Finn used to say he was even easy as a baby," Nik says.
"I notice with other you don't remember your family fondly, but with me you tell me all these happy stories of your family." I comment.
"You're different. You don't expect anything from me. You accept me for who I am. I'm not used to that. It's refreshing." Nik says.
We hear a squeal break the serious atmosphere. That's Thor for you. We head out to the hall and see James chasing Thor around. Both of them are dressed and ready to go.
"If you boys are ready, we should get going," I say to them laughing at their antics.
These are the moments I hold precious. We head out the door. I notice Nik's SUV already has car seats in it.
"I got this just in case you wanted to take my car," he says to me.
"That's sweet," I reply.
The boys both get in and buckled. Nik puts Freya in her new seat, and she squeals.
"This is snazzy. A lot better them mine." I say seeing the DVD player attached to the roof.
I also see a screen for a GPS up front.
"I got the latest things for them. I didn't know if we would ever do a road trip, but I wanted to be prepared." He says,
We both get in and a short time later we pull into the Grill.
"A grill has pancakes?" James asks,
"This one does at breakfast time," Nik replies as he takes Freya out of her seat.
James takes Thor's hand, and they head inside. We follow shortly after. I see them both sitting at a booth Thor and James are both colouring. Nik goes and sits down with Freya. I sit down across from him. he puts her in a highchair and hands her a spoon. She bangs it on the chair happy as can be. He starts to colour with the boys as well.
The server comes and we order two orders of chocolate chip pancakes and two orders of blueberry pancakes. I see a tall blonde walk in.
"Nik?" she questions.
"Bekah, why aren't you in class?" Nik asks.
"I was, but I got bored so I left," she says pouting.
"It doesn't work like that. You chose to go to school, now you must attend." Nik says.
"Fine, who are theses people?" She asks.
"This is Tyra, Thor, James, and Freya." He introduces to Rebekah.
"Oh, these are your kids," she says excitedly.
"Freya looks adorable. Can I hold her?" She asks.
"I wouldn't right now. Her food hasn't fully settled and if she gets overly upset, she will throw up," I explain.
"Alright, fine, but after school I want to hold her," she says.
"Speaking of school, shouldn't you be going back there?' Nik asks Rebekah rhetorically.
"Fine, I'll go," she says walking out of the grill.
