A Different Path 2: Loyalties Still Run Deep

Ch 1 Doubts

A young lion with a creamy brown coat and blue eyes woke with a start, sweat pouring down his coat. Kopa looked over and saw his soon to be mate, Jasiri laying next to him. Jasiri was a rusty brown coat with brown eyes. Kopa slowly got up and walked out of the cave and sat at the edge of Pride Rock, trying to calm himself down. He didn't know how long he was sitting there when he felt a nose press into his side. Looking over he saw his older sister, Kiara standing there. "You ok Kop'?" the dark brown lioness asked, the concern clear in her voice.

"Yeah I'm good Ki," Kopa said softly. "You don't have to worry about me so much."

"What kind of big sister would I be if I didn't worry about my little brother?" Kiara asked with a smile. Kopa smiled back at his sister. But that didn't last long and Kopa's face went back to one of worry. Kiara noticed this right away. "Alright Kopa spill," the brown coated lioness said, sounding a bit annoyed. "What's going on with you? And don't tell me nothing 'cause you and I both know that's crap."

"Geeze you don't let up do you?" Kopa asked, rolling his blue eyes. Kiara said nothing, she only raised an eyebrow at her brother. "Alright fine," Kopa hissed. "I'll tell you. I...I'm missing Kion alright? There now you know. Kopa turned his head away from his sister as he didn't want her to see the emotions in his eyes.

"Oh Kopa," Kiara said, putting her paw under Kopa's chin and making him look at her. "I got a news flash for you here: I miss him too. And Grandma. Heck I even miss Mother weirdly enough. Its normal."

"Kion and Mother were messed up and twisted," Kopa said, a little force in his voice. "I mean they were murderers for King's Sake. How can we possibly miss them?! That's messed up too!"

"Kopa keep your voice down," Kiara hissed. "Its the middle of the night. Do you want to wake to whole Pride?" Kopa rolled his eyes but said nothing. Instead he let out a frustrated growl and stormed away from his sister. "Kopa wait!" Kiara called out.

"Don't follow me!" came Kopa's angry response. Kiara started after her brother but she thought better of it. So she let out a sigh and went back into the cave and layed back down beside her future mate, Nuka.

"What's going on?" came Nuka's sleep filled voice.

"I'll tell you in the morning," Kiara whispered, giving Nuka a nuzzle. "Go back to sleep."

"Ok," Nuka said with a yawn. "I love you."

"I love you too," Kiara whispered as she layed her head down and tried to go back to sleep.

Meanwhile Kopa had reached the watering hole. "What the Hell is wrong with me?!" the creamy brown lion muttered as he stared down at his reflection. When he looked into the water and saw all the scars on his face he scowled. "I'm the worst kind of scum," Kopa said, splashing away his reflection. Kopa ley out a growl and began to pace. He didn't know how long he walked but suddenly he found himself in the middle of the Pride Lands. "I should head back," Kopa said to himself. But suddenly he found himself to tired to move. Letting out a yawn Kopa layed on the ground and soon was fast asleep.

Kopa heard a rough voice call his name. "Huh?' Kopa muttered as his eyes flew opened. To his shock he saw Kion standing in front of his. 'What the Hell?!" Kopa cried out, jumping to his feet, his blue eyes wide. "You can't be here. You're dead!"

"Am I bro?" Kion said, letting out an evil cackle. "I'm not as dead as you think."

"No," Kopa whispered, taking a step backwards. "That's impossible." Then he noticed that Kion hadn't aged since the last time he saw him. "You're not real," Kopa declared. "You're just a nightmare I'm having."

"Nightmares can be real stupid," Kion said. "You'll never be rid of me Kopa. I'm your twin. We shared everything and we do still. I'll always be a part of you. As long as you're alive I will be too. I live in you Kopa."

"No!" Kopa shouted, closing his eyes and shaking his head trying to get the dizziness to stop. "That's not true! I'm nothing like you!"

"Don't be stupid Kopa of course you are," Kion scoffed. "We have the same DNA. The same evil, twisted parents. You wanted to be like me our entire lives. Its inevitable Kopa. Just embrace it Kopa. Finish what me and Mother started."

"No!" Kopa shouted once again. "I won't do it! Go back to Hell Kion! I'll never be like you!" Kion let out an evil cackle once again and Kopa shut his eyes tight. "Go away!" he shouted. "Leave me the Hell alone!" Kion's evil cackle echoed through Kopa's head as the dizziness increased. Kopa felt sick as he layed on the ground as the world around him went to black.

Kopa heard voices calling his name. But the voices seamed far away. But then Kopa heard Jasiri call him name. He could hear the concern and worry in her voice. This gave Kopa the motivation to open his eyes. When he opened his eyes he saw the concerned faces of Nuka, Vitani, Jasiri, Kiara, Chafu, Simba and Zira. "Oh Kopa are you alright?" Jasiri cried out, giving Kopa a nuzzle.

"Yes Kopa we were quite worried about you," Simba said.

"What," Kopa whispered. "What happened?"

"You don't remember?" Kiara asked. Kopa shook his head.

"Me and the other lioness were hunting and we found you unconscious," Zira explained. "We brought you back here. Rafiki examined you but didn't find any injuries."

"We were hoping you'd be able to tell us what happened when you woke up," Simba chimed in.

"I...I don't really remember," Kopa lied, avoiding eye contact.

"Kopa you should know better than to lie to us," Kiara said. "Now lets try that again shall we. What happened?"

"Its...its nothing," Kopa insisted. "Really I just got a little dizzy and passed out. Its no big deal."

"No big deal?" Jasiri cried out. "It most certainly is a big deal Kopa. You've been unconscious for three days!"

"Three days?!" Kopa cried out, shocked at how long he was out. "Wow he really did a number on me," the creamy brown lion muttered.

"Who did a number on you?" Kiara asked. Kopa looked at his sister with wide blue eyes.

"Kopa who did this to you?" Jasiri asked gently.

"I...I can't tell you," Kopa said quietly.

"Why not?" Vitani demanded. "Kopa honey you can tell us anything right?"

"Yeah c'mon Kop' tell us who did this to you so we can make them pay," Nuka chimed in.

"You can't make him pay," Kopa declared. "No one can."

"Kopa I can assure you that I will find the creature that did this and make them pay," Simba said.

"Yeah we'll kick their sorry ass for messing with you!" Chafu chimed in

"Well I've got news for you Chafu," Kopa snapped, glaring at his grey coated friend. "You can't kick someone's ass if they're dead already!" Kopa gasped and his eyes went wide as he quickly realized his mistake.

"Kopa," Kiara said slowly. "What do you mean they're already dead?"

"Yeah dead creatures can't hurt you," Nuka said.

"Yeah well tell that to Kion," Kopa snapped. "He's the one that hurt me." Then he cursed to himself as he looked at the concerned faces of his family and friends. Simba and Zira exchanged looks of concern before looking at Kopa to respond.
