Hey guys! Good news, I have found a way to be consistently posting. Expect a chapter or episode every sunday.

Haruka's POV

Another morning and I'm still alive, great. I looked at the manga at the side of my bed. I had been reading The Spirits Within volume eighteen. I cursed myself for my sleepiness, I'd fallen asleep at the part where Sylvia was trying to save her senpai from Scythe.

I picked up the manga and flipped through the pages. I sat up and started reading.

I was at the part where Slyvia's Lopunny spirit was raining punches down on Scythe's Scizor spirit when my phone beeped.

I picked up my phone and was about to swipe away the message when I saw it was from Scott. I opened the phone and looked at the message.

Scott: "Where have you been for the past week? Get back to work and stop being lazy, I still need you to fill your report on the Groudon incident."

I sighed, I haven't been to the actual Oak Agency base in a week. It wasn't really my fault. Ever since I woke up from unconsciousness, with no memory of what happened after I beat the edgy lord dude, I've had cases of vertigo and nausea. Now that I think of it, this is probably happening to everyone else, but knowing Scott, he'd still want everyone on duty.

The only thing I'm looking forward to today is meeting the new secretary. I hate meeting new people, but a secretary can help manage my papers for me. So I won't have to bother with it myself, now where did I put that stupid report.

I looked around my small apartment and emptied my desk filled with random papers, manga, and video game cartridges and disks. I didn't find that stupid report, so it must be at the office.

I dumped everything back into my desk, changed into some work appropriate clothing, wore my shoes, and headed out the door.

"Purugly! Give that back!" shouted some random person.

I barely had any time to turn when a Purugly holding a slice of breakfast pizza came rushing by, followed by its trainer who had an Aipom sitting on her head.

"Ugh, I hate it when he always steals my food," she said, coming to a stop to catch her breath.

"You talking to me?" I asked.

The lady eyed me. "No I wasn't. I was talking out loud."

"Figured. Why don't you just keep it in its pokéball?"

The lady gave me one of those stupid looks that said "are you serious?", before turning and running after her Pokémon. I watched her leave and continued down the hallway, ignoring her haughty look.

When I was going to the front desk, I noticed two people trying to break up a fight between their Magmortar and Feraligater. When I got there, I noticed the front desk lady had a Furret curled around her feet and an Unfezant sleeping in the corner.

"Hey Haruka!" she said brightly. She was at least two years older than me and was always trying to get me to notice her. Last week she gave me a box of chocolates. Being the kind guy I was, I didn't refuse the gift. Though I couldn't work up the courage to tell her I don't do girlfriends and I'm only eighteen. "Happy No Pokèballs Day! What do you think of my hair? I dyed it!"

I froze. "Back up a moment, what did you say?"

I knew the moment I said that she wasn't going to repeat what I wanted her to repeat, and then I'll say no, the thing before that and then I'll hear it before my life spirals into confusion and chaos. Life is rigged like that.

"What do you think of my hair?"

"No, the thing before that."

"Happy No Pokèballs Day?"

This day, the day where all Pokémon spend the entire day outside their pokéballs. This day has always been a disaster with the sheer amount of Pokémon in the streets and in the buildings. I needed to hide in my room until the apocalypse was over.

"Oh yeah that's great, anyways I think I'll go back upstairs. I have-"

I felt a hand grip my shoulder tightly.

"Got you Haruka. Trust me, you're not going anywhere."

No one's POV

Haruka and Scott walked down the street to the Oak Agency base. Haruka had tried giving a semi-convincing argument about why he should stay home for just one more day. But Scott wasn't hearing it. After realizing that Scott wasn't going to believe the fact that every No Pokèballs Day was a disaster for him, he complied and followed him back to the base.

"Also," said Haruka as they were walking. "I filled in that report you asked me to."

Scott raised an eyebrow. "Really? You were supposed to put it on my desk when you did. How come it's not with you?"

"Left it in my office."

Scott now raised his other eyebrow. "Really now? You haven't been to your office in a week. Are you trying to tell me that you immediately filled out a report before taking a week long absence, but never turned it in?"

"Yup."

"You are really a case Haruka. Anyways, pick up the pace. I don't want to be late either."

"Then go on ahead."

"I don't trust you not to run back home. No Pokèballs Day is a great day! You'll see."

"I already know today will be terrible."

The day didn't start out that well for Haruka. After he turned in his report, he'd sat down on the couch to play video games, only to sit on something long and green

"What the heck!" shouted Haruka as Typhlosion the Serperior quickly whisked his tail from under him. Typhlosion slithered off the couch and retreated behind it, staring at Haruka.

"Hey, don't scare him like that," said Juan, with Pio napping on his shoulder.

"He was in my spot. Has my name written on it."

The couch in fact, did have Haruka's name on it in a plastic cover.

"Typhlosion can't read. Besides, he's just tired. He's been kind of sluggish ever since that big fight last week. Anyways, where are your Pokémon?"

"In their pokéballs."

"Well then send them out! It's No Pokèballs Day until midnight!"

Haruka stood up from the couch and sighed. He then sent out his Pokémon. A Greninja, Cinderace, and a Tyranitar.

"Alright you two," said Haruka, looking pointedly at Cinderace and Tyranitar. "You have the entire day to be spent outside your pokéballs. No kicking random things, and no sleeping on couches."

Both Pokémon looked dismayed at the rules, but nodded in agreement. Haruka was about to sit back down to resume his video game, only to notice Typhlosion was resting on it again.

"Ah come on. Hey Juan, your Serperior doesn't look too good."

Juan looked ruefully at his Pokémon. "You're right. Ever since he evolved, he's been more sluggish. His health has been deteriorating ever since, even more whenever he over-exerts himself. He usually didn't battle much until I joined the Oak Agency. I should probably get him to the doctor. Where's it again?"

"No need for that!" exclaimed Aisha, appearing at the door of the common room. "I can take care of him. I'm a certified nurse!"

"Alright," said Juan, pulling out his pokéball.

"No, it's No Pokèballs Day. And he shouldn't move that much, so we'll carry him!"

Juan stared at her. "You do know the average Serperior weighs one hundred and forty pounds."

Aisha looked at Typhlosion. "Your Serperior's lost weight. Too much of it actually. He should only weigh about a hundred twenty."

"That's still heavy."

"Haruka will help."

Haruka looked up from his video game. "Nope."

Aisha fixed him with a knowing glance. After a few moments, Haruka paused his video game and threw his hands up in despair.

"It's the manga that's forcing me to help you."

Thirty minutes later

Aisha sat down across from Juan in her medical office, a serious look on her face.

"Your Serperior is not doing well. He's clearly under a lot of strain whenever he battles. You told me earlier that he'd evolved under a lot of strain when he fought Olivia. Pokémon typically aren't supposed to evolve under bad conditions. Did your Serperior battle often before evolution?"

"No."

"That makes sense. Pokémon need time to strengthen their body before evolution. Not doing this between evolutions can be dangerous and can have lasting damage on a Pokémon. Especially if they're already past their first stage."

"But Typhlosion has been battling a lot since he evolved. Shouldn't he be used to his form by now?"

"Not quite. Imagine it this way. Whenever you exercise, you want to start small. If you work out with weights that are too heavy for you, you'll strain your muscles, which is very painful. If you work out with lighter weights, your muscles will still be hurting, and will most likely hurt more as time goes on."

"Is there any way to make him feel better?"

"You should increase the amount of food you give him, seeing as he's losing weight. You should give him plenty of water and rest. I can prescribe you some dietary supplements to give him twice a day. Until I say otherwise, Typho shouldn't participate in any missions."

"Typho?"

"Calling your Serperior Typhlosion is way too confusing. Anyways, I'll write down a list so that you can remember. Which Pokécenter do you use? I can't give you the prescription directly."

"HVS."

"Alright, I'll set your pickup for twelve pm today. Have a good day."

Juan got up and was about to leave before turning around with a question.

"You made this sound so professional. Did you work in a Pokécenter before?"

"Yup! I worked in Barius Center, in Barius City!"

"Huh, I always heard that place had top rate nurses."

Joyce was walking down the hallway, Candy was in her office. She was looking for Scott to ask him a few questions.

While she was walking, she heard quick footsteps down the hallway. Judging by how fast the person was moving, she figured it could only be one person.

A person turned the corner and almost ran into her, despite the fact Joyce had stopped walking. The person, startled by Joyce, tripped and accidentally dropped the many papers and calendars she was holding.

The person's name was Thalia, she had medium length auburn hair and bright lavender eyes. She wore the default green and white Oak Agency clothing that was more of a business suit than something you'd use for a mission. She wore silver colored glasses that were taped in between the lenses.

Thalia reminded Joyce of herself. Both of them loved bright, cheery colors and had similar cheery attitudes. Thalia however, was very clumsy and was prone to spilling things or dropping papers. In the three days since she joined, she dropped too many papers to count, spilled coffee over her desk twice, stepped on her own glasses after dropping them, and somehow collapsed her bookshelf.

"Oh my, I'm sorry Joyce!" she said after recovering.

Joyce stooped down and helped her gather her papers. "You're fine, I didn't mean to scare you."

Thalia took her papers from Joyce. "Thank you, you're too kind. Hey, where's Candy?"

"He's in my office waiting for me, I was going to ask Scott about his plan about doing patrols every few days."

Thalia wrinkled her nose. "Isn't that what the police do? I thought you guys save people from disasters, catch criminals, file reports, and shuffle papers."

Joyce gave her a lopsided grin. "I think you can change that to save people from disasters, catch criminals, and file reports with you here."

Thalia laughed at the statement. "Anyways, I need to take all these reports to the main office. Bye!"

"Bye Thalia! Don't drop them."

Wilhelm was walking throughout the Oak Alpha side of the base, following Iridus' trail of destruction.

Iridus always loved No Pokèballs Day because it was the perfect chance to prank all the unsuspecting Pokémon outside of their pokéballs.

Already, Iridus had sawed away some of the wood on a pole Haruka's Greninja frequently meditated on, causing the poor Pokémon to fall as his pole collapsed. Next, she'd used some tools and a special dye she'd got off the internet to make some extra spicy cheri berries look like sweet pecha bites before feeding them to various Pokémon. After that, she gave Haruka's Cinderace a premade bowling ball designed to look like a soccer ball.

As Wilhelm walked through the halls, he passed Haruka's Cinderace. The poor Pokémon was nursing his foot, the "soccer ball" in pieces.

As he continued to walk, he found Katie with her Alolan Ninetails, Altaria, and Meowstic.

"Oh, hello Katie. Are you doing well?" he asked.

"Oh hey! You're the scientist guy right? Sorry, but I didn't get your name."

"Wilhelm."

"Okay! How are you doing, Wilhelm?"

"I'm quite well."

Katie looked at him, expecting him to continue, but shrugged instead. "So, what are you doing?"

"I would be sitting at my computer, poring over my work. But Scott asked me to get my Kommo-o."

"You have a Kommo-o? Cool!"

"She loves playing tricks on other Pokémon, so I'm afraid she may have done some nasty things already."

"Does it have to do with that Cinderace over there?"

"Indeed."

"Anyways, what do you like doing?"

"Working."

Katie looked at him with slight confusion. "What about when you're not working?"

"Looking at energy charts, preparing for my next work session."

"What do you like doing that's not related to work?"

"Reading."

"Oh! What do you like to read?" asked Katie, figuring she knew the answer.

"Books about energy management and the complex structures of energy."

"Do you do anything that isn't related to your work or energy?"

Wilhelm thought for a moment. "I like to sit outside and appreciate nature, even if most of it has been replaced by urban society."

Katie nodded her head slowly. "Nice. Anyways, you know about Pokémon Coordinating right?"

"I'm aware of the term, but I don't know much about it."

Katie stared at him incredulously for a moment, before explaining.

"Pokémon Coordinating is a sport like Pokémon battling. However, instead of Pokémon fighting each other as a competition, they have to use their moves to create stunning displays of beauty to impress the judges. I'm actually going to become one once this entire Gamma Team stuff is over. They said it wasn't safe for me to be out in the open because of what happened."

Wilhelm nodded. "A logical reason."

"But anyways, I'm still training my Pokémon! Recently, I've been trying to get them to try a move I'm calling Diamond Dust! Basically, Jose, my Altaria, uses Mist to cover the area. Glacia, my Alolan Ninetails, uses Icy Wind to freeze the small mist droplets into crystals. Belle, my Meowstic, uses Psychic to suspend the crystals in mid-air. Then, Jose flies behind the crystals and uses Hyper Voice, shattering the crystals and sending them flying forward. This creates an icy dust to settle over the crowd. Crowds always love stuff like that falling on them."

"Interesting."

Realizing that she couldn't count on Wilhelm to continue the conversation, she figured now would be a good time to end it.

"Well, I need to find Juan. I have a day off from training today, and I really want to join the No Pokèballs Day parade."

"I'm afraid that's not going to happen," said a voice behind her.

Katie shrieked and leaped forward, turning around to face the speaker.

"Wait a minute. Aren't you that annoying guy who always runs his mouth?" asked Katie when she realized who it was.

Victor gave her an offended look. "Now that is not true! How old are you that you think you can disrespect me like that? But that's beside the point, I'm here for Wilhelm. We unfortunately have a situation at Squire Bridge, the place where the No Pokèballs Day parade takes place."

Everyone in the Oak Alpha, including Thalia, was assembled in the meeting room. Victor, like usual, was at the head of the meeting room, his Rotom computer connected to the TV.

Katie wasn't here because she wasn't allowed to go on missions unless it was for training. The mission they were doing right now was way too dangerous for her.

"Due to the past earthquakes recently," said Victor. "The foundations on Squire Bridge were weakened. No one however, noticed the weakened supports and still he/d the No Pokèballs Day parade on the bridge. With the weight of hundreds of people and Pokémon, the bridge has started to collapse. Safety officials have already started evacuating the parade goers, but we're needed there to prevent the bridge from falling anymore."

"This is the second time we're stopping something from collapsing this month," said Gavin.

"It's because of all the earthquakes that have been happening recently," said Maggie.

"Whatever the reason, we have a job to do," said Sott. "Loa-"

"Actually," said Haruka. "I don't have a job to do, I'm not going to stand on a bridge that has a high chance of giving out and causing me to fall into a large body of water and most likely drown."

"You're here now right? And you've had the mission briefing?" asked Scott. "Because in rule twenty eight of the Oak Agency law, once you are present for a mission briefing, it is your civic duty to follow through and complete the mission. Now, everyone load two trucks with the necessary rescue gear and let's move out. Locate your Pokémon and return them to their pokéballs. This is an emergency."

Haruka raised a hand. "What are the necessary rescue gear again?"

Ten minutes later

Oak Alpha soon arrived on the scene. Wilhelm had decided against bringing the HFM Suit, seeing as the bridge could give way at any moment. Juan also didn't bring Typhlosion. The Pokémon, as Aisha said, needed to rest and shouldn't be doing rescue work for sometime. Unfortunately, this put Juan at a small disadvantage seeing as Typhlosion's long body could grab any people who were at a lower elevation than him.

"Okay team, here's what we're going to do. Gavin, Maggie, and Haruka should help with the evacuation of people and Pokémon. Be careful to watch for any unstable areas. Aisha and Joyce, you tend to any injured people and Pokemon. Juan, and I shall use our Pokémon to fly to the supports and repair them using the SR guns. Ellen, and Wilhem. You guys and your Pokémon should try and stop the surface of the bridge from falling apart anymore. Victor, keep an eye on things and assist when needed."

Everyone agreed, including Haruka. Scott, Aisha, and Juan went to the trucks and got the SR guns, otherwise known as structure repair guns. These guns had been modified by Wilhelm and now had different nozzle modes for different kinds of repairs. It had a larger tank and was, of course, more energy efficient.

Aisha sent out her Yanmega and quickly jumped on its back before it could react. Juan sent out Raptor, his Staraptor, and Scott sent out Darv, his Flygon. They took to the air, with Aisha's Yanmega having a slower start simply because it didn't want to fly, and flew under the bridge,

Haruka sent out his Greninja to search for survivors as he went in a different direction. Maggie sent out her Absol, Gengar, and Axew to help with the search while Gavin sent out Aurora, his Slyveon, and Jeff, his Joltik.

Aisha went to the medical station that was set up away from the bridge. Using her nurse skills, she quickly brought ease to the Pokémon as she checked on them. Joyce didn't know anything more than basic medical skills, she still comforted the traumatized people as Candy the Galarian Rapidash searched for others.

Ellen sent out her Pokémon, Magia, a Delphox, Orchid, a Lurantis, and Gnasher, a Garchomp. Gnasher and Orchid helped break off and move damaged bridge chunks to safer locations, and Magia used Psychic to lift falling objects and damaged bridge pieces.

Wilhelm sent out Iridus and Halby, his Vanillish. After sizing up the situation, he came up with an idea.

"Iridus, use Clanging Scales! Halby, as soon as she does that, freeze the broken chunks with Ice Beam!"

Iridus vibrated her scales and sent a sound wave that broke chunks of the bridge, using this as a layout, Halby used Ice Beam and joined the multitude of chunks to the bridge. Using the chunks like this allowed Halby to use less energy to repair the bridge.

"This is only temporary. But it should hold," he said. "Come, let's move on to the next part."

Ellen looked at him. "Don't you think that was a bit risky? With the sound waves and all?"

"I looked over the building structure as we came here. The frequency of Clanging Scales will not disrupt the balance of this bridge. The surrounding area is surprisingly sound, indicating the earthquakes were more severe in a different place."

Ellen shrugged. "You're the scientist. I trust your judgment."

Wilhelm turned around and continued walking. "Be careful on the ice."

"Look at people when you talk! It's proper manners!"

Haruka carefully made his way through the bridge, he heard a cry for help momentarily and immediately went to the direction.

"Keep making noise so I can find you!"

There was no response. Haruka kept making his way to the direction, stumbling a few times.

He heard a weak noise to his right and turned around. He quickly picked his way through the rubble and found someone. Their legs were trapped under a steel beam.

"Do your legs hurt? Are they broken?" asked Haurka.

"They're not broken, but they hurt a lot."

"Alright, just hold on, I'll get the beam off."

Haruka didn't bother to try and lift it, figuring that he'd be too weak. He sent out his Cinderace and turned to him.

"Can you help get that off?"

CInderace smiled and drew back his foot. Haruka quickly jumped in front of the over-eager Pokémon and waved his arms.

"No you kicking maniac! Can't you lift it like a normal- actually, you're a Cinderace, you'll never understand. Just help me lift it."

Cinderace rolled his eyes and helped Haruka move the beam. Cinderace picked up the hurt person and started jogging to the rescue area.

"Can you slow down? It's fine if you fall into the water but I'll never live it down if you end up dropping him as well!"

Cinderace slowed down and moved carefully through the bridge, making sure not to jump through the gaps in the bridge.

Haruka sighed and continued searching for people, until he came to the conclusion that his only Pokémon left was Tyranitar. He knew he couldn't depend on that Pokémon to do anything.

"I'm just praying to Arceus that the main bridge supports don't give out and collapse," Haruka muttered, before realizing he shouldn't have said that.

"Great, now that's the next thing that's going to happen."

Juan was hanging from Raptor's claws, his SR gun spraying synthetic Ariados silk fluid. As soon as the fluid settled into the cracks and missing chunks, it dried and became three times stronger than steel.

He filled the crack and asked Raptor to move on. He saw Scott and Darv fly overhead as they moved to stop one of the breaking supports.

Scott and Darv reached the support right before it broke in two. Darv slammed his body against the supports, straining his wings to stop the pillar from giving away.

The bridge was designed in a way to make sure the entire thing didn't fall if the supports started breaking. Using the strongest metals they had access to, they built two arched supports that were directly connected to the ground and spanned the bridge. The smaller, pillar-like supports connected the main supports to the bridge. Fortunately, the main supports held, but the resulting shock had damaged the pillar supports.

Scott heard Victor's voice on the radio. "Scott, Gavin, you guys may want to be careful. The bridge looks pretty weak in your area. My program's giving me some pretty dangerous readings. The readings are very bad actually, it's saying there's a high chance for it to collapse. I'm pretty-"

"We get it Victor," said Scott.

Ellen's voice then came onto the radio as well, "You shouldn't interrupt people, especially when they might have something imp-"

"Gavin! Get out of there!" shouted Victor.

Gavin had been carefully a small girl who was tangled in some cables, when Victor's report had come in.

"Gavin! Get out of there!"

"Sorry Victor, there's someone I need to save."

"Then do it quickly! The brid-"

Gavin didn't hear what Victor was saying despite it being directly in his ear because a large and ugly snap sounded and filled his ears with a terrible screeching sound.

A main support had snapped because of all the pressure on the damaged bridge. The metal supports flew upwards and cleaved through part of the bridge, particularly the part Gavin was on.

Without hesitation, Gavin ran forward and leaped towards the girl. He caught her as she fell, but there was nothing for him to land on.

Gavin held the girl tight as they fell through the air, trying to say reassuring words to her as she cried.

He neared the water, he became aware of a new noise other than the rush of wind and the girl's crying. His rapid descent suddenly stopped and hands grabbed him.

"Got you!" shouted Scott as Darv grabbed Gavin.

Gavin exhaled in relief, and smiled at the little girl.

"See you're safe now. Don't worry."

Ten minutes later

Scott and the others were back in the meeting room, talking about their recent mission.

"There were many injured, but thankfully no casualties," said Scott. "You guys did great, enjoy the rest of No Pokèballs Day, you earned it."

As everyone left, Haruka turned to Gavin and gave him an apologetic look.

"Sorry about the main supports giving away."

Gavin looked at him incredulously. "That was in no way your fault."

"It kind of is. Before it happened, I said "I'm just praying to Arceus that the main bridge supports don't give out and collapse."

"Oh come on Haruka. Stop acting as if you're some kind of bad luck magnet."

"My previous life."

Gavin sighed. "I think you need to get checked for depression man."

"I did, but I don't trust those anti-depression pills. Next thing you know, I become addicted. The only true medicine is video games and manga."

Gavon chuckled. "Honestly, I'll never understand you." he put an arm around his shoulder. "But that's what I like about you."

And that's the end of the chapter. Just so you know, I'll be having a bit of plot and the end of every Gamma Team chapter, so stay tuned!
