It had been fifteen minutes. He was watching her. Someone had to have her back, and after twenty three years, he felt it was his job.

Rising from his desk, he strolled to her office and poked his head in. They were the only two left, most of the others had left for the weekend already.

"You ok, Cap?"

She looked up at him. "Uh, yes….I'm good Fin. "Why do you ask?"

"Well you've been staring at your phone for the last fifteen minutes. You gotta give someone bad news or something?"

"Elliot!" She didn't even look up.

"You gotta give Stabler bad news?"

She sat at her desk staring at the text from Elliot. They had been working on their friendship, they didn't get to see each other often, but talked a few times a week, due to busy schedules, so the "for now" part was working. Elliot wanted to get together to talk. She had mentioned that Noah was going on a sleepover that evening which would give them plenty of time to talk privately.

"Um, no…I don't know. He wants to talk."

"Talking's not a bad thing." Fin offered.

She looked up at him with eyes full of emotion.

"Look Liv, he's trying." He closed the door to her office. "I know his leaving all those years ago broke you, but I also know you still love him."

"I do, he was my partner for twelve years, he always had my back, I can't just forget that."

"Let me rephrase that, you are still IN LOVE with him." Fin corrected himself.

She didn't respond. She knew he was right. She had always been in love with Elliot. For twenty three years. Eventually she was able to bury the feelings when he left, but they never went away. Seeing him that fateful night, hearing him say her name, all those feelings came flooding back, overwhelming her.

"Look Liv, I know you! You won't be happy till you know. You have to test the waters. Maybe it wasn't your time before, maybe your time is now."

"I'm "

"I'm just afraid…."

"Afraid of what, him leaving again? What if he doesn't? He did what he needed to for his family, Stabler was always gonna do right by his family, whether he wanted to or not. Go home, talk to him, or maybe don't(he winks at her)." Opening the door, he leaves her office. "See you Monday boss", he calls over his shoulder as he heads back to his desk.

Left alone with her thoughts, Olivia types her reply.

"Where do you want to meet and what time?" She hits send.

The flashing dots instantly appear. He's been waiting for her response.

"Your place, 6pm! I'll make us dinner, Italian ok?"

Swallowing both her jitters and butterflies, she replied. "See you then."

She packed up her files and started to head home. She had a stop to make first. She wanted to pick up a nice bottle of wine to go with dinner, and a bottle for herself, to calm her jitters, a little liquid courage so to speak.

oooooooooooooooooooo

Olivia nervously checked her appearance in the mirror again. She certainly wasn't a vain person, Elliot had seen her at her best and at her worst. Well not maybe her worst, he wasn't around for the William Lewis part of her life, completely missing her lowest point.

The doorbell rang, she sighed and swallowed the last bit of wine from her glass.

"Hey Captain." He greeted her, kissing her cheek on his way to the kitchen. He unloaded the bags making small talk as he set himself up to make dinner. Olivia tried to participate in the conversation but thoughts of him, of them, distracted her. Was she crazy to think she could find happiness? She had Noah, she had her team, her career, they made her happy. Did she deserve happiness with Elliot, would they be happy together? God only knows how many times she went to sleep thinking of him or how many nights she dreamt of him.

"Liv, you alright? You're like a million miles away."

"Uh, yeah. I'm sorry, just thinking about a case. How about I pour us some wine, red good?"

"Yeah, that would be good, thanks. Hey, you want to throw some water on for the pasta? I believe you told me you learned how to boil water now that you have a son."

"Very funny Stabler."

Soon they were back to their usual banter, Olivia forgetting about her nerves long enough to enjoy the meal Elliot prepared for them. Conversation remained light, mostly about Noah and Elliot's kids. Then they switched to talking about their cases while they cleaned up the dishes and the kitchen.

Elliot refilled their wine glasses and passed Olivia her glass. She swirled the burgundy liquid around the glass. She knew she couldn't put it off any longer, it was the whole reason for his visit.

"Liv, I'm not trying to make you uncomfortable." He takes her hand and leads her to the sofa. "I just want to check in with where things are going. I know I hurt you and we've moved past that. And I'm fine going as slow as you want, I'm just happy you've allowed me back in your life." He takes a deep breath. Olivia can see he is pouring his heart out to her, he's come so far since Kathy's death. She wants so badly to take him in her arms and never let go.

"Elliot, El." She looks up and gets lost in his sapphire blue eyes. He's looking at her like a kid on Christmas morning waiting to be told he can open his presents from Santa. She wants to be able to give that to him. As much as he wants her, she wants him. She knows there's no denying it. Her feelings for him have only intensified since they've been exploring their friendship. She's trying to think with her head, but sometimes her heart wins out.

"El, there's so much more to consider than just how we feel, we have to consider Noah, and what about your kids, are they ready to see us together? I agree, we can't go much slower, but I don't know how or what the next step is. All I know for sure is I like having you back in my life, I missed you, I missed us. I don't want to lose you again."

"You won't lose me, I'm not going anywhere. Liv if I could have done things differently I would have. I had to leave, I had to leave to save my marriage, my family. I should have said goodbye, and I'll never forgive myself for hurting you like that. But if I tried to see you before I left…I don't think I could have walked away. I was so in love with you, but I was married. I…I was starting to not trust myself around you, and I didn't want to cross any lines with us. I loved you then, I love you now. Those feelings never went away. But now there's no lines to worry about crossing. There's no reason for us not to be together. Unless, you don't feel the same about me."

Shaking her head. "Elliot, not feel the same? I've been in love with you for twenty three years. None of my relationships ever worked out because I compared everyone to you. I tried, I tried to be happy. And I was happy enough with Ed, till he wanted different things out of life. El, I want nothing more than to fall into your arms and have you tell me everything is going to be ok, but I think we need to get the kids on the same page and go from there."

He lets out a breath, "Well tomorrow night we will all be at Maureen's, how about you and Noah join us. I can go over a little earlier and tell my kids what's going on when I get there but I'll tell them that Noah doesn't know yet, to keep it a secret till we tell him. I think mine already suspect there's more going on than there actually is."

"What do you mean? There's nothing going on yet, we haven't even kissed yet, we have truly just been friends."

"Since they already suspect more is going on, what do you say we…." Elliot is grinning from ear to ear as he leans to her to take her glass.

"Elliot Stabler, surely you're not trying to get into my pants." She laughs.

"Liv, I'd be happy with a first REAL kiss."

He took their wine glasses and put them on the table next to him. He leaned in close and kissed her lips ever so softly, lingering for a few seconds. "Now that wasn't so bad, was it?" Not waiting for a reply he leaned in again, this time he put one hand on her knee and the other around her back pulling her toward himself. The kiss started softly, but quickly escalated. Olivia allowed Elliot's tongue to enter her mouth and dance with hers, sending every fiber of her being into an explosion of pleasure. "Oh god, " she thinks, "this is so much better than in my dreams." She deepens the kiss, wrapping her arms around Elliot's neck, losing herself in him. In the feel of his hand caressing her leg, the other one creating heat where it lay on her lower back, in his scent, his wonderfully masculine scent. Elliot reached up to take her hands, pulling away from Olivia, he rested his forehead against her own, trying to calm his breathing for a moment. Her brown eyes met his blue and her fingers went to her lips, to feel where his lips had been. They sat quietly for a few minutes taking it all in. After over two decades of waiting and wanting and fantasizing, neither could believe what had finally just happened.

"Liv, this where I say goodnight."

oooooooooooooooooooo

Noah was excited to be going to Maureen's. He liked Elliot and had met his family a time or two. He liked the commotion of the big family. There was always someone to play with, between Eli and Maureen's kids. Olivia stopped to grab a bottle of wine, and Noah insisted on bringing a treat too, so they stopped at the bakery for a treat for after dinner.

Maureen welcomed them with open arms, passing the gifts off to her husband and sending Noah off to play with her boys, Maureen pulled Olivia in for a hug.

"Dad told us the news. I'm so happy for you both."

Elliot was walking toward the door from his grandchildren's room to greet Olivia.

"Hopefully my dad doesn't screw this up." Maureen shot Elliot a look.

"Who me, I'm Prince Charming, who wouldn't want to be with me?" The three of them started laughing.

"But seriously Liv, I think you two are good together."

Olivia looked down at her feet for a moment. "Well thank you, I'm sure it must be difficult for you to see your dad with someone beside your mom."

"Maybe a stranger, but you guys were always the best of friends, so it kinda seems natural." With that she turned and went to the kitchen leaving Elliot and Olivia alone in the foyer.

"Hello there, my friend Olivia."

She laughed as he pulled her close to plant a kiss on her lips. It was sweet and soft and not long enough.

"I've been waiting all day to do that."

She leaned up to kiss him. Letting the kiss linger a little longer. "And I've been waiting all day to do that." They held each other's gaze, relishing in the feeling of their bodies being so close together. Taking her by the hand, they joined the others in the family room.

Dinner had gone by quickly and was soon replaced by a game of Headbanz so even the younger members of the family could play. Olivia's heart melted at the smile on her son's face. He often mentioned wanting a brother or sister, but as he got older and understood more about life, the fact that his mother wasn't involved with anyone, he began to realize it wasn't going to happen, and stopped asking. God, she hoped Elliot didn't break their hearts. She looked over at him to find him staring in her direction, almost as if reading her mind.

"Hey Liv, I'm gonna get more coffee, join me?"

"Uh, sure, coffee sounds good."

Elliot grabbed a mug for Olivia and filled it before refilling his own. "You know he fits in really well with everyone, they all just love him."

"He's having the best time, I can tell. Thank you for inviting us."

He took her hands in his own, "I'm not going anywhere Liv. I did that to you once and you'll never know how much I regret it. I'm here for you, always, however you'll have me."

"About that. I wanted to thank you for last night."

Confused, Elliot asked, "why, what did I do last night?"

Olivia looked up at him with her big brown eyes. "For not pushing. You were the perfect gentleman. If you had tried to go any farther, I doubt I would have been able to deny you, or myself. In fact, I know where we would have ended up."

"Liv, I said it before. I'm just happy to be in your life again. If you want to go slow, we'll go slow. It's not like I've never had a cold shower over you before." He captured her lips with his. "I want this to last, I would never want to do something you are not ready for."

She chuckles, "Ah, that's just it. I think my body is more than ready. Kissing you last night…well let's just say I had trouble falling asleep after you left. You also reminded me how good it felt to be held and loved by someone. Especially when I've been in love with you for so long."

"We've waited this long, Liv. You'll know when it's right."

Just then Maureen walks in with Elliot's phone. "Dad, Fin is on the phone for you."

"Hey Fin, what's up?"

"Hey, am I interrupting family night?"

"It's all good, what's up?"

"By chance is Olivia with you?"

"Yeah, she's right here, you need to talk to her?"

"No man, I'd rather tell you. Did you happen to see the evening edition of the paper?"

"I don't usually read that trash."

"Well the front page is a picture of Liv with Noah, and written across the picture is, You'll Pay. The headline is NYPD captain threatened."

"What the… Any leads as to who?"

"Nah, not yet, we're working on it. Do me a favor, keep her safe?" Fin asks.

"Not lettin' her out of my sight."

"What did Fin want?" Olivia asked, knowing it wasn't a social call.

"He said, there's an apparent threat against you and maybe Noah."

"What, is it credible?"

"They are looking into it. There was a cover picture of you and Noah on the front page of the newspaper with You'll Pay written across it. Apparently the newspaper published it with the heading, NYPD captain threatened."

"I need to get Noah and head home."

"Liv!"

"What's going on?" Kathleen overhears their conversation. "Are Olivia and Noah in danger?"

"I'm sure it's nothing." Olivia answers. " I'm gonna head home and drop Noah with Lucy and I'll head into the station."

Elliot looks at her, "over my dead body. Liv, you're not going anywhere. You're safest here."

"I don't live here Elliot." She defiantly replies.

"I know that, that's why you'd be safe. At least till we check out the threat." He looks down into her deep brown eyes, "do it for Noah. I know you're worried and you need to keep your brain busy, Noah is happy here right now, he doesn't need to know about this." He pulls her into a hug, he can feel the tension she is holding onto.

She lets out a deep sigh, "fine, for Noah."

"Thank you." He kisses the top of her head, "I'll talk to Maureen."

Maureen is more than happy to have Olivia and Noah spend the night, especially if it means their safety.

After setting up the kids room Maureen returns to the family room, to Olivia and Elliot.

"I made up the trundle, Noah should be comfortable there, and I put some pajamas on the bed for him. I have extra toothbrushes in the bathroom, so it will be just like a regular sleepover."

"Thank you Maureen, you don't know how much I appreciate it."

"Don't mention it. Now for you two, I assume you'll be comfortable in the guest room. The king bed is already made up and I put fresh towels and toothbrushes and toothpaste etc in there as well. If you need anything else just holler."

She notices the look between Olivia and her dad. "What, seriously… we're all adults, I don't care if you sleep together."

Kathleen, Lizzie and Dickie all say their goodnights, leaving Maureen and her husband alone with Olivia and Elliot. The kids having already gone upstairs to watch a movie. Maureen takes the few remaining dishes to the kitchen. Elliot follows.

In a somewhat quiet voice, "hey Mo, can I grab an extra pillow and blanket. I'll let Liv sleep upstairs, I'll take the couch."

"What, did you piss her off already?"

"No…we….ah…well, we haven't slept together yet. I told you we were taking things slow. I just don't want to make Liv uncomfortable."

"You were serious? You really care about her." She gives her dad a hug. "I'll set up the couch."

"Thanks."

oooooooooooooooooooo

Hours had passed and still sleep evaded Olivia. Her mind was going a mile a minute. Who would threaten her and Noah. Actually who wouldn't, many people were behind bars because of her. What was she going to do, she couldn't just stay at Maureen's, sure one night was fine, but she had to go home sometime. Noah had school. Hopefully her team could figure this out quickly. Maybe Elliot's team would help and that would make things happen more quickly. Elliot, what was she going to do about him? Being with him and his family, she had missed him so much, but was she ready to completely let him in. She trusted him with her life, but did she trust him with her heart? Her mind was in a spin cycle, the same questions over and over again. She padded downstairs, Elliot was kind enough to offer to sleep on the sofa and give her the bed. She tried to explain that the bed was big enough for the both of them, but he insisted that he wanted her to be comfortable.

"Elliot, are you awake, she whispered."

"Yeah, Liv, everything ok?" He sits up, offering her to sit with him.

"I couldn't sleep."

He throws the back cushions of the sofa over the back and makes room for Olivia to lay with him. Covering her with the blanket after she got comfortable.

"Are you sure you're ok with this? You were right, I am worried."

He kisses her forehead and wraps his arms around her, "you're safe here Liv."

She snuggles into his chest, breathing in his scent, she always felt safe with him. That would never change. They both quickly fall asleep wrapped in each other's arms.

oooooooooooooooooooo

Maureen quietly sneaks into the kitchen to make coffee, hoping to not wake her father. After the coffee is on she looks to see if she woke him. What she saw actually brought tears to her eyes. Wrapped in each other's arms, her dad and Olivia were sleeping soundly on the sofa.

Elliot slowly opened his eyes, the smell of coffee brewing permeated the air. Remembering that Olivia was curled up against him, he tried not to move and wake her. Instead he enjoyed the feeling of having her asleep in his arms. He stared at her lips, the ones he kissed the night before last, their first kiss. It was everything he dreamed of and more, kissing Olivia finally after so many years of being in love with her was a dream come true.

"El…why are you staring at me? I can feel your eyes on me."

"You are incredibly beautiful Olivia Benson."

"And you are incredibly full of it." She sighs though she secretly loves hearing him say it. She also loved waking up next to him.

As she shifted next to him, pressing her body closer to his to keep from falling off the sofa, his hardened member brushed against her stomach. He felt her pause.

"See I told you you were beautiful. All I have to do is look at you, and hold you in my arms. Imagine what would happen if I kissed you right now."

She had to admit, spending the night with her body pressed against his, she was waking up in a heightened state of arousal.

"I don't think that would be a good idea. After that kiss the other night, I might just have to have my way with you right now, right here." There was a hint of play in her voice, but Elliot knew she meant it. She was just as turned on as he was. Years of unfulfilled desire for each other was only growing stronger with the exploration of what they wanted and needed from each other.

"Fuck! I'll risk it, what's another cold shower." He pulled her as close as physically possible and captured her mouth with his. She could feel him hardening even more against her. His hand was rubbing her ass and with the way she was positioned on the sofa his fingers every once in a while would graze other sensitive areas. From the fluttering in her belly to the sensation between her legs, she wanted him in the worst way. She moaned softly into a kiss. Elliot pulled back, gazing into her eyes. Neither one saying anything, both taking the time to calm their raging desire.

oooooooooooooooooooo

Olivia was ready to go, she felt she had worn out her welcome. Noah however was having a good time. She hated making him leave just to sit at home with a sitter, but what else could she do. Walking into the other room to try to hurry her son, Elliot follows.

"Liv, what can I do?"

She turns to him, she sees the concern and worry in his eyes. Leaning close she whispers. "I think you've done enough Stabler."

She pulls back and sees the confusion on his face, wanting to play with him a little more, she leans in again. "Now not only do I have a threat to deal with, but sexual frustration too. I swear you are going to be the death of me Stabler." Her sultry smile hits him right where she wants it to, as he starts to harden before her.

"Damn Benson, you're a tease." He says as he tries to adjust himself.

"Oh, you don't know the half of it." She laughs.

Olivia goes to give Noah his final warning that she is leaving. Maureen offers since it's Sunday and the kids are having so much fun together to let him stay. He can spend the whole day with them. Mentioning that it will give Olivia and Elliot time to possibly track down some leads in the threat against her and Noah.

Looking at the smile on her little boy's face, she gives in. She also knows in the back of her head that he would be safer at Maureen's. She thanks the young woman and heads home to change before going to the station.

oooooooooooooooooooo

"Where's Stabler? He's supposed to have your back!"

"I'm fine, Fin. I'm sure he's on his way. We spent the night at Maureen's, so we both had to go home and shower and change before coming in. Any leads?"

"Nothing significant. I sent Rollins down to the paper to get more information about the picture and how it was delivered. She should be back soon."

Rollins and Stabler enter the precinct together. Elliot sees that Olivia is in full work mode, so simply nods to her. Everyone starts to filter in, Sergeant Bell and Jet from OC as well as Velasco. Greetings are exchanged as coffees are filled. Finally Captain Benson starts to review what information they have as well as the information needed.

Elliot sits quietly, he is worried for the safety of Noah and Olivia. As Olivia commands the room, he stares in wonder. She is truly amazing. They've talked, he knows some of what he's missed, though she left out the hardest part, her not being ready to completely divulge the Lewis part of her story. He's always known she was a good cop, smart, quick on her feet, but this is a whole new level. He wishes he had been there to see her make sergeant then lieutenant and especially captain. She is the strongest, bravest, most fierce woman he knows.

Olivia turns the floor over to Sergeant Bell who will be taking the lead since Benson is the one the threat is against. As she moves off to the side she glances at Elliot. He had been looking at her the whole time she spoke, but not really seeing her, his mind was somewhere else. She hadn't allowed herself to look at him for too long while she was speaking, moving her eyes around the room, but now that the focus was on Sergeant Bell, she allowed her eyes to meet his and hold his gaze. His mind shifted when he noticed she was looking at him, he looked deeply into her brown eyes, not hiding any of his emotions. He knew she could read him. Even after their time apart, she could read him and his eyes. He could never lie to her, his eyes were his tell all. What she saw in his eyes sent a shiver down her spine. She saw admiration, love and respect. It took her breath away. Sure he's told her how much he cares about her and how much she and Noah mean to him, and she's seen the way he looks at her, like he wants to devour her, but this is different. Her heart warmed and she could feel the last of the walls crumbling. "Damn!" She thought to herself, "why here, we can't talk here." She barely heard Bell's final remarks and her dismissal of everyone. Fin, Rollins and Stabler started to discuss the security detail with Valasco joining in. Jet and Ayanna were looking at something on the computer.

Elliot excused himself and went to Olivia's office, closing the door behind him.

"Liv, you ok? You looked like you might pass out or something back there."

"Yeah, El I'm fine."

Still he didn't take his eyes off of her, giving her a once over to make sure she was really ok. Assuming the idea of a threat against her and Noah was just really sinking in.

"You don't have to worry Liv, Noah is safe at Maureen's and between me, Fin and Rollins, we got your back. You'll be covered 24/7."

"Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. These people have lives, they don't need to babysit me. Just what I want, Fin sitting outside my apartment at 3am."

"Oh, no, that's my shift. I get graveyard, and I won't be sitting outside your apartment." He tries to lighten the mood by giving her a devilish grin after his comment.

She walks around her desk so she's right in front of him. Close enough so he understands her words, but not so close to look suspicious.

"Well, if that's the case, do you think we could talk tonight? After Noah goes to bed."

"What's going on Liv, really, is everything ok?"

"It is, we just can't talk here. Tonight!" She looks at him, and for the first time he sees something different in her eyes. Hope!

oooooooooooooooooooo

Lunch had come and gone, Olivia was getting antsy. She needed some air, she had to get out, and she needed to do it alone. It had only been a few hours and it was driving her crazy. She couldn't go anywhere alone, Rollins even followed her to the bathroom.

Her and Sergeant Bell walked out to the desk sergeant, but Ayanna's phone rang. Olivia saw that as an opportunity and ran with it, right down the back steps and out the door. She knew she'd catch hell for it, but she had no intention of going far.

It only took minutes for Elliot to notice that Olivia disappeared, and without her vest. Was she trying to drive him crazy? He grabbed her vest and set off to find her.

Olivia had her sights set on the corner coffee shop. They couldn't be mad at her if she returned with coffee for everyone, right. She was just about to go in when she heard Elliot call her name.

"Liv…what are you doing", he takes a minute to catch his breath while he hands her the vest. "At least put this on please?"

She takes the vest. "Elliot, I'm fine. I'm sorry. I just needed some air."

He puts his hands on her shoulders, he got real serious , real quick. "I know, I'd feel the same way, but seriously Liv, I lost Kathy… I couldn't handle losing you."

She looked up into his blue eyes. "El, I'm just getting coffee, but I get it. I'm sorry." She couldn't wait to get back to her place and talk, she had so much she needed to tell him. Starting with the fact that it was time for the next step in their relationship. She was all in. She wanted the happiness, she wanted the man she'd been in love with for 23 years. She took his hand in hers as they ordered coffee for everyone.

Each carrying a tray of coffees they headed for the door. Elliot pushed the door open for Olivia to go through. The streets were crowded, it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Comic Con was going on at the convention center which brought tourists into the city, it was a warm sunny day. People were out and about enjoying the day, knowing that winter was on the horizon.

As they waited for the light, a car backfired causing Olivia to jump. Elliot put his arm around her.

"Let's get you back inside." He leaned down and kissed her forehead, he would have kissed her lips, but knew she wouldn't be receptive of that being just outside the precinct. Once they got to the other side of the street, real shots rang out. Elliot quickly tossed the coffee and grabbed Olivia, pulling her to the ground and covering her with his body. People were scrambling everywhere trying to take cover. Elliot called shots fired into his portable. By the time the shooting stopped, Fin, Rollins, Bell and everyone had made it to where Olivia and Elliot were.

Elliot helped Olivia to her feet, everyone was checking to make sure she was ok. Once they knew their captain was ok they checked to see if bystanders had been hit. As the uniformed officers arrived and started to question people, the focus shifted back to Captain Benson and getting her to safety.

Elliot looped his arm through Olivia's, Fin and Valasco fell in behind while Rollins and Bell were in the front. They were just about to go into the building when Elliot's knees buckled and he went down. No one had noticed the blood soaking his black henley. In his rush to find Olivia he didn't have his own vest on.

Finn immediately ran to his side and called into the portable.

"Officer down, I repeat officer down. We have a 10-13. I need a bus asap!"

Valasco tore off his jacket to get his shirt off, offering it to use to apply pressure to the bullet hole in Elliot's abdomen. Slowly rolling him onto his side Bell notices no exit wound. Her and Rollins share a look. Fin is pacing looking for the ambulance, while Olivia quietly sits at his side. There was really nothing anyone could do until the paramedics arrived, and anyone who's been to NYC knows how that goes.

Olivia knelt by Elliot's side with his hand in hers. It felt cold. She knew it was probably from the drop in temperature and the sun going down, though in the back of her head she felt like she was losing him. This wasn't his first time being shot, he was strong, he always pulled through, he would this time too, she reassured herself, wouldn't he?

The paramedics arrived on scene and quickly accessed the situation. Elliot's blood pressure was low, they assumed from internal bleeding. There was no exit wound so they feared perhaps organ involvement. They hung fluids and loaded him onto the ambulance, he needed a surgeon quickly.

Olivia and Fin rode with Elliot. Fin keeping his eye on Olivia the whole time. She was quiet, but calm. Her hand never leaving Elliot's. Once they got to the hospital the trauma team was assembled at the door waiting. They unloaded the gurney, Olivia never losing step with it. She leaned down and kissed his lips telling him she would be there when he woke up.

"He's strong Liv, he'll make it." Fin put his hands on her shoulders.

"I know, you're right. I have to go call his kids. Excuse me."

Fin watched as she walked away. The epitome of professionalism. To the naked eye one would ever know the love of her life was shot and just taken to surgery. But Fin knew, and he knew that as cool as she was playing it, she was crashing inside.
