Author's note: Greetings, everyone! Logan Jindrak X with a new story! I know I said that my other two stories, 'Book of the Dragon' and 'Wings of the Heart' would be my main priority from now on, but after finishing my good friend TheDragonSaver's story 'Saving the Disney Universe', which concluded an AMAZING trilogy, I just couldn't resist the invitation to write my own story in the same universe after DS invited us to do so.
Unlike my other work, this story will not follow one big plot line consisting of a grand quest, but will rather consist of one-shots - sometimes stories stretched across many chapters - as we follow Logan and his adventures after saving the Disney universe from Hex with the other defenders of Disney. One important thing to notice is that I'm not gonna use my usual writing style, as I want to do justice to DS's simple and charming way of writing his stories... Which doesn't mean I won't add my own touch.
Without any further adue, let's begin The Adventures of Logan!
Logan pushed a long, relaxed sigh. He was lying over Destiny's back, the shark whale sleeping on the ocean's surface so that he could sleep as well without drowning. Right now, the young man just made himself comfortable on his back, his head resting on his two hands, and looking at the night sky. Tens of thousands of star glimmered across eternity, the colors of pink, azure and emerald mixing everywhere... and it all reflected on the ocean all around the two friends! All of this with the salty breeze brushing against him pulled Logan in a perfect state of serenity.
"Logan? Are you sleeping?" Destiny asked in a soft tone.
"Not yet, Destiny," Loan replied without looking away from the sky.
"Are you excited to meet everyone at the Great Barrier Reef?"
"I sure am, Destiny."
About one week ago, Destiny invited Logan to (finally) visit her home in the Coral Sea off the coast of Australia. After finishing his training with Yen Sid, Riku, Sora and Kairi, Logan had been experiencing all sorts of fun across the different worlds with his friends (mostly playing Toy Story Mania! and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Seriously, Logan was way too obsessed by these games). Destiny, as much as she was enjoying all of it, started missing her friends and family in the ocean. After having her follow him everywhere he went, Logan could only accept this invitation.
"You're gonna love all of them. Nemo is the sweetest little boy. His father might be a bit over reactive by moment, but he's also very nice. And Dory's my best friend! She has memory problems, but it's not annoying. If anything, it only makes her even more likeable." Destiny stopped talking when she heard her boyfriend chuckling softly. "What's funny, Logan?"
"You wanna know something ironic?" Logan asked. "A few years ago, for my birthday, I was supposed to go see a different movie at the cinema, but it ran out of tickets, so we went to see 'Finding Dory' instead. I didn't have big expectations for the movie, but it ended up blowing me away, almost making me cry, and re-igniting the fire of my love for movies like those of Disney and Pixar. You imagine? If we had arrived sooner and actually went to see the movie we originally came for, I wouldn't be standing here with you today."
"Yeah, fate can really work in funny ways," Destiny agreed. "Who would've thought I would turn out to be your... destiny?"
The young couple shared an amused laughter. "We should get to sleep now if we wanna be in good shape by the sunrise." Logan placed his cap over his face and closed his eyes. "Goodnight, Destiny."
"Goodnight, Logan."
The next morning, Logan and Destiny resumed their journey across the ocean. Logan used his magical notebook to turn into a greenish yellow electric eel so that he could swim alongside his girlfriend. Somehow, his cap remained on his head while the rest of his clothes disappeared. Destiny had to hold Logan by the fin and make sure he did not look into the abyss down below, as he suffered from thalassophobia, a consistent fear of giant bodies of water like the ocean.
"You can open your eyes, Logan. We've arrived," Destiny announced.
The young boy-fish opened his eyes... and widened them immediately. The Great Barrier Reef was a true sight to behold, with tens of aquatic plants covering the entire landscape. Fishes of all size and color gracefully swam in every direction, making for a show of wonder. But most importantly, Logan could now see the ground below.
"Wow! So this is the place where you live? It's wonderful!" Logan beamed.
"Yup!" Destiny agreed. "That's exactly what I thought when we arrived here with the others. Much more interesting than the cage I used to live in at the Marine Life Institute."
"DESTINY!"
Logan jumped in surprise as a beluga whale came out of nowhere and took Destiny in his fins for a hug. "Bailey!" the shark whale beamed and returned the hug to her friend. "It's been so long! How you doing?"
"I should be the one asking you that; you've been away for months!" Bailey replied before turning his attention to Logan. "Oh, didn't see you there, who are you?"
"Bailey, meet Logan, my boyfriend. Logan, this is Bailey, my ancient companion from the Marine Life Institute," Destiny made the introductions.
"Hi there," Logan said, smiling and waving his fin a little.
Bailey blinked his eyes multiple times at this. "Boyfriend? Didn't you tell me he was just the guy who invited you to take part in that tournament thing?"
"Yes, but a lot of things happened afterward," Destiny confirmed, wrapping a fin around her little eel and kissing his cheek, which immediately turned red.
"Oh? Okay... Wow, we missed a lot of things," Bailey remarked with rubbing his round, bulgy head. However, he then shook it off and smiled. "But what are still doin' here?! The others'll want to know all that too! Come on, let's go see them! That way, you can also meet everyone, Logan!"
"That's a great idea!" Destiny beamed with enthusiasm. "Come on, Logan, let's go!"
Destiny grabbed Logan's fin once again and followed Bailey into the main part of the coral reef. The fishes warmly welcomed their friend, the kids from Mr. Ray's class, Mr. Ray himself, Hank, Jenny, Charlie, Marlin and Nemo all having a happy reunion with the shark whale. Hank, Bailey, Jenny and Charlie were the most curious as to what their whale friend did away from the ocean. When things finally calmed down, the attention turned to the electric eel accompanying her.
"Well, gonna introduce yourself or just let Destiny do all the talking, kid?" Hank the octopus asked him.
"Huh, sure," Logan uneasily said, not used to be the center of attention. "Hey, everyone, I'm-"
"Logan!" The eel looked confused as Nemo beamed his name with enthusiasm. "Dad, Dad! It's him, it's the guy I told you about!"
"... Y-You know who I am?"
"Of course! You're Logan, one of the Dream Defenders!" Nemo beamed, swimming up to the electric eel. "Everybody knows what you and your friends did to save the Disney Universe. And I saw your participation in the Sorcerer's Arena. You were great!"
Logan blinked his eyes multiple times. "R-Really? You think so? Even if my team only won one match before getting eliminated?"
"Bah, don't worry about it," Marlin said with a wave of his fin. "The important part is to try... Plus, your opponent was pretty strong."
"Oh." Rubbing the back of his head, Logan couldn't prevent himself from blushing. He was not used to receive this kind of positive reception. Usually, it was reserved for his companions, like Gabriel or Rachel.
"It's very nice to meet you, Logan," Jenny said, reaching a flipper forward, which Logan politely shook. "We're very happy that Destiny found the one to make her happy... A charming one at that."
Logan once again blushed at this compliment. "So, I hope you will join us tonight for dinner so that you and Destiny can tell us what you have been up to during all this time." Charlie said.
"This is a great idea. Destiny and I are a bit tired from all our adventures across the many worlds, so we're gonna stay around here for a while to rest. Plus, I've been wanting to visit and study your world for a very long time," Logan explained. "Speaking of which, I just noticed an important absence. Where is-"
"INCOMING!"
Logan saw a flash of blue before something collided with his face. "Ouch!" he exclaimed, clutching his face with his fins.
"Sorry! Didn't see you there."
"No, no, it's okay, no harm done...?" Logan widened his eyes upon seeing the fish that bumped into him. "Oh my gosh, Dory?!"
The blue tang blinked her magenta eyes a few times. "Huh, do we know each other? Cause I can't remember you. Oh, maybe I just forgot you. Sorry, it's because I suffer from-"
"Short-term memory-loss, I'm aware," Logan confirmed, trying not to sound rude. "My name's Logan. I loved your first movie when I was just a kid. You have no idea how happy I am to finally meet you in person, Dory!"
"Really? Well, it's nice to meet you too, Hogan."
"Logan."
"Yes, Logan." Dory then turned her attention to Destiny. "Destiny! You're back! Where have you been? I didn't see you in forever!"
Destiny blinked her eyes curiously at this. "I left to take part in the Sorcerer's Arena and decided to stay with Logan for a while. Didn't you guys tell her?"
"We did," Marlin and Hank deadpanned at the same time.
"Anyway, it's veeeeryyy goooood to see yooooou, friend!" Dory talked whale to her best friend.
"Saaaame with yooou toooooo!" Destiny talked whale back.
Logan couldn't hold back a chuckle. "I love when she does that!"
Later on, all the fishes gathered to eat together. Logan hesitated before eating, as he never ate fish food before. When he slipped some kelp inside his mouth, it felt very salty and sticky... but it was also pretty good. Throughout the dinner, Logan and Destiny told their friends about their adventures while they, in return, told them everything that happened at the coral reef during their absence. Nemo interrogated Logan about his magic and that of his friends; he more than happily obliged. While he had the occasion, Logan also interrogated Hank about his camouflage ability and Bailey about his echolocation. Overall, everybody had a good evening.
When the dinner was over, it was time for bed. Destiny took Logan to the cave where she usually slept and cuddled the little electric eel under her fin so that they could both have a good night's rest.
"So, what's the program for tomorrow?" the shark whale asked her boyfriend.
"I asked Marlin and Nemo to give me a little tour of the coral reef. That way, I'll also be able to study the magic of the ocean," Logan explained. "What are you gonna do?"
"Not much. I'll probably spend the day with Bailey and Dory's family. If Mr. Ray is giving class, I'll help him with the kids."
"Cool." Logan cuddled against his girlfriend. "Good night, Destiny."
The shark whale kissed the little electric eel on the cheek. "Night, Logan."
