"Recognized Robin B-01"

"HELLOOOO! Anybody here?" Robin exclaimed into the hopefully not empty cave.

"In here!"

Waiting in the kitchen was a sight that most people would consider ordinary. But to our dear Boy Wonder, it might as well have been a million dollar painting. Zatanna, the team's resident magician, sat at the counter in a tank top and red sweatpants with a bowl of cereal and her hair in a messy bun.

"Heya Zee!"

As Robin sat down across from her, Zatanna breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that the counter hid the yellow R on the side of her hip. So she's a fan of the Boy Wonder. His merch is comfy.

"Mornin' Rob! What brings you here?"

"Bats gave me the day off. I was actually hoping to round up the crew. Today's the last day of the Happy Harbor Carnival! Actually, where is everybody? I know Wally's working on a long overdue history project."

"Umm let me think. Artemis is taking her mom to the doctor. Uhh M'gann and her uncle are observing some Martian holiday, I think? Conner is out buying custom parts for his motorcycle. Kaldur is in Atlantis, and Rocket is with Icon upgrading her tech."

"Oh. Ok. Man everyone decided to take care of business today huh?"

"Yup."

An awkward silence fell between the two as Zatanna swirled her Lucky Charms and Robin stared into the void.

"Y'know Rob…I don't have any plans today."

"Oh?"

"Yup. Prettay, Prettay free today."

"Really? No doctor's appointment?"

"Healthy as can be!"

"No religious holiday?"

"Well, Frabjous Day was on Tuesday. So I guess that's off the list," Zee snickered at her "Alice in Wonderland" joke.

"Uhh no auto parts shopping?"

"Considering the last bike I drove was yours and I wrecked it….I don't think so. And before you ask again, no I'm not swimming to Atlantis and don't need any new tech upgrades." (Rob you can't be cute AND dense right?)

"Ah ok. Well. Uh. Would you….like to uh…..go to the carnival…with…me?" As Robin stammers, Zatanna couldn't help but flash a sweet sweet smile.

"I'd love to. Let me get changed!"

Hours later, nearly 11pm, laughter could be heard echoing through the cave.

"Haha! Did you see the look on his face, Zee? I can't believe you guessed the right card every time!"

"Well the clown should have gotten better card tricks. He was practically begging for me to take all the candy. And what about you, Mr. Show-off? Just because you can toss all 10 rings at once with your eyes closed and have them fall onto the bottles doesn't mean you should!"

"Hey now, as I recall, my talents netted you that prized you got there."

A faint blush appeared on Zatanna's cheeks as she clutches her new Robin the Boy Wonder plushie tightly in her chest. Again, he's got great merch.

"Well well well," a new voice chimed in, "Someone's been out late."

Stunned, Robin and Zatanna looked over to the couch to see Artemis smirking like she stole something.

"And where have you two been? Quite the getup you're both in."

Artemis eyed the young couple subtly judging their choice of attire. Zatanna wore black cat ears and had whiskers face-painted on her cheeks while Robin had on a tricorn pirate hat with a painted goatee, a gold doubloon hanging from his neck, and a bag of cotton candy.

"Uh well, Rob and I, we went to the carnival. It's the last day and Rob was free. I was free. Uh yeah!" Zatanna stuttered trying to make this as casual as possible.

"Sure. Well, glad you two kids had fun! Don't stay up too late now!" Artemis said as she sauntered off to her room.

Once again, our young couple found themselves in an uncomfortable silence.

"So uh. I should head back to Gotham. Bats gave me today off, but that just means bright and early training tomorrow."

"Right. Uh, can't have you dosing off in training."

"Yea hehe. So, I'll see ya!"

Right as he turned, Zatanna grabbed his hand.

"Wait!"

With sudden boldness, Zatanna placed her lips on his cheek for a soft and firm kiss that lasted almost like an eternity for the two.

"I had a great time today. Thank you."

Quickly, Zatanna spun around and raced to her room. Wide-eyed, and with a goofy smile growing, Robin was filled with glee.

"I can't believe she did that."

Once Zatanna closed the door behind her, she sank to the ground holding onto plushie Robin for dear life.

"I can't believe I did that."
