June 26th, Silver Spring Maryland, Gooding Residence...
"Casey Gooding?"
"Yes, who are you?"
"My name is Monica Reyes, I'm with the FBI, this is my partner Agent Doggett. May we speak with you?"
"Is it about my parents?"
"May we come inside?"
Casey stepped back from the door and allowed the agents to enter her home. The house was immaculate and both John and Monica were struck by how tidy the place was having had six kids living in it.
"Casey we've just spoken with Mia Dukes, I understand you and she are good friends?"
"Not exactly. She's the only suspect in my parents murder, not exactly someone I'd like to be friends with."
"Well we were hoping you could help us out with some information, Mia says that she helped you sometimes with your insulin, that you often forgot to take it, is that correct?"
"I guess so."
"And there was an incident the day your parents died where Mia helped you, could tell us what exactly happened that day?"
"Umm, Mia came into my room checking up on me, I told her I hadn't taken my medication yet so she went to get it from the bathroom. I was angry at her interference, making me feel I couldn't take care of it myself. So when she came back and tried to do it for me I reached out and picked up the scissors. I cut her arm pretty bad but she was fine about it afterwards and helped me clear everything up, we used a towel to wrap her arm in until the bleeding stopped. That's it I think..."
"Do you know what you did with the syringes and the towel Mia used?"
"Umm, the syringes went into the bathroom waste bin like they always do, and I told Mia to throw the towel away because my parents would have asked questions if they saw it. They think... they thought that I was good at keeping time with my insulin, I didn't like to
disappoint them..."
Casey wiped her tears away and wanted to continue to help Monica and John, they admired her for it.
"Are you living in the house alone right now?"
"My brother Daniel is staying with a friend, and Adam Davies is still here, we're both sixteen and are being told it's impossible to find us anywhere so I came home. Michael and Lucy are both back in the children's home. If I could I'd bring them home in an instant."
"Casey, Mia implied that you and Adam had become more than just friends, is that true?"
"What? No, my God, he's like a brother to me, we were a family. Adam had been living with us for six years, Michael had been with us for three and Lucy for two, we were a family, and now that's all gone. Excuse me..."
Casey ran out of the room and up the stairs of the house and Monica took a deep breath. John rubbed her shoulders as he sat behind her and she rested her hand on his.
"Lets get out of here."
"You don't wanna talk to her anymore?"
"No. There's someone else I'd like to talk to."
"Who?"
"Daniel Gooding. Let see if we can find this friend he's staying with."
