Chapter 12
I don't own Persona or Type-Moon
After the chaotic out of control day that was yesterday Kasumi just wanted to take a bit of a breather. Just a moment to exhale and lie down. Maybe doing some exercises to keep herself busy in her room? Maybe even invite Sumire so they can also unwind a bit together and talk about what happened yesterday? That sounded grand.
"Its good to see you two didn't forget about Shirou's checkups."
Sadly she forgot they had an appointment for today.
Shirou stood in a table once more in the veterinarian, about to have his check up. "In cases like these its important follow up examinations in order to see that nothing goes wrong." The Doctor in question named Sona Shitori nodded nodded girls. "I'm glad you two are the responsible patients." And then she turned to Shirou offering him a small smile. "And you for being a good boy for staying still as always."
Kasumi was thankfully accompanied by Sumire. Their parents went out to eat breakfast after both her and Sumire insisted that they could get to the veterinarian on their own. The fact it was near one of the train stops helped. Although it wasn't without its trouble's with mom hugging Morgana not wanting to let him go. Only after promising to call as soon as they were done did she let him go.
"Seems you've recovered quite well." She watched as Dr. Sona touched and prodded Shirou in different part on his body. Shirou even lifted his paws when asked for it. "Did he look uncomfortable any time after our last session?" She blinked. Then held her shin in thought. Couldn't remember any time when he was uncomfortable.
"During the first day he limped a bit." She turned her eyes to look at Sumire, who was also looking at the Dr as she prodded and took notes on Shirou. "He stopped limping during the second day. We also took him outsides for walks and such when he started to walk better." Oh right. Remembering the pet stores employees reaction at Shirou picking his own bed and food brought a small smile to her face.
"Hmm. I see." The vet nodded and started to take notes, on what Sumire said. Kasumi blinked as she watched as the vet quickly turn to Shirou and start rubbing his head. "You've been a good boy, haven't you?" The vet's sudden cheerful voice in contrast to her earlier stoic was a bit odd.
At hearing the purr coming from Shirou made her raiser her eyebrow at him. When he stared back his defense was quick.
"I was caught of guard." She would've believed him. If she wasn't still hearing him purr at her petting.
And there was the other thing. Sona didn't react to Shirou when he spoke, the vet only cooed. As if she couldn't understand what Shirou just said. So Shirou's hypothesis was right.
Apparently Shirou was not sure how or why she and Sumire understood what he said now and not before. The most he suspected was the fact that they only started to understand Shirou was after going into the Metaverse. How that works was unknown, but it was the best they got right now.
And that made the mystery that surrounded Memento's grow even bigger.
Sona kept taking notes throughout my slip in thought. "At the moment it seems that Shirou has done a full recovery. Faster than my usual patients." Sona nodded at her and Sumire. "Usually it would take a few more examinations and a few more weeks for cats to recover after such an accident. But Shirou here-" She patted Shirou's head.-"seems to have recovered at a faster rate than normal. Which is a good thing but-" She retrieved her hand and then fully turned to look at her and Sumire. "I would like to still schedule some more examinations."
"Why?" Seems like Sumire is feeling more relaxed with the Doctor than I thought. Good for her. "If Shirou is feeling better than we don't have to have him examined anymore right?" That's actually a good question.
"The reason I want to schedule more examinations for Shirou is to make sure this faster than normal recovery isn't gonna affect Shirou in any negative way." She answered as she fixed her glasses. "This fast of a recovery is unheard of in my years as a veterinarian. At least for a cat. And I'm unsure of how this will affect him." I raised my hand to ask a question. "No worries about paying for those visits. It will be on the house as long as your willing to bring him." Well she shut that excuse out.
She turned her eyes to look at Shirou. When he noticed her look he nodded. Seems he has something in mind with this situation. She then nodded at the doctor. "When can we start scheduling?" She just hopped it didn't end up come back and haunt them.
"What was the point of that?" Seems like she's speaking her mind a lot more often now. An improvement.
The trio now walking(he was carried in his cage) away from the train station after making a transfer from what would've been a train back to the house. But he told them to take a different train.
He did tell them he was going to explain his reasoning why when they left the station didn't he? "Which one? Making you girls change trains? Or the deal with the Doctor?" Doesn't mean he cant play around a bit?
He turned his head to look at Sumire as she fumbled a bit trying to get her thoughts in order. He slightly turned his eyes to Kasumi, one she returned back.
It took a bit of coaxing with Kasumi but he needed for Sumire to start building confidence by speaking on her own. While it was a bit adorable when she squeaked and fumbled with her words, there is a burning point when he sees her nearly always fumbling when it wasn't matters related to him or her family. While normally a topic like that should be handle with a bit more care and tact.
But sadly a Palace is a place where a second is all you need for a mistake like that to make things go horribly wrong. Bare with me.
"About the Doctor?" He began speaking which made the girls turn to look at him. "Keep looking forward, or you will hit something." Which prompted Kasumi to quickly stop or she would hit a post. "Speaking to me will make people be suspicious of you. You only need to listen to me till we get there. Nod if you understand." Both girls nodded as they kept walking. "Good. As for the explanations. We will never know if her expertise or just having an alibi for when we disappear to the Palace could come in handy. Plus-" He stooped talking for a second. "Never mind. As for making you go to here? You both know why were going here. You can stop here. This will be far enough." Both girls stooped when they got to the specific location he wanted.
An alleyway which in gone through would lead them to Shujin Academy. The sight of Kamoshida's Palace.
"Were going to start your abridge introduction to 'How to be a Phantom Thief'. Are you two ready?" He did enjoy both girls slightly shocked expressions.
Welp. Its been a long while.
This is my bad. This chapter for some reason was very difficult to write. Because I had an idea in mind on what to write but it was very difficult to put into words, which led me to weeks of slowly updating this chapter. I partially had this chapter finally in its final stages this Wednesday but my data was then corrupted and altered to one of its earlier saves. So I lost a ton of story that I wrote but then didn't remember what I wrote so I was in a dump for the rest of the week.
Thankfully I was so tired today I for some reason figured out what to write for this. Again sorry.
For this reason I will be pumping out 2-to-3 chapters for the next coming weeks in order to properly catchup to my mostly outdated schedule. Please bare with me for the next few weeks.
Now that I'm done apologizing, on to the reviews!
Gojosin- Glad your as exited as I am.
Kanon-Yeah Shirou has it rough. And Kasumi's bluntness is one of her best features. As for the Will explanation, hes just making the obvios observation of the requirement(That he somehow knows) of being able to fight in the Metaverse. Having the knowledge doesn't equal having a Persona, that it true. And thanks for the support.
Welp that all I have at the moment. Thanks for the reviews. Please if you don't mind please drop a review on your thoughts or ideas of the the story. All is appreciated and can have the potential to alter the story.
With that out of the way I'll see you guys later.
-End-
