"Wow! Sora, look!"
Sora leaned his back against the rock and looked up to where his best friend was pointing. "Wow. What is that?"
Riku grinned over at him. "It's a meteor shower! Meteors are falling down on the islands."
Sora looked up again at the sky, his eyes wide. Yellow trails of fire streaked across the dark sky. They looked almost... alive, Sora thought. He took a deep breath as the cool night air brushed past them, playing through the strands of his hair. What if they were alive? What if... what if they were ships, bringing new people to the world? His imagination took the idea and ran with it, conjuring up images of strange people and the worlds they might come from. He smiled, lost in his thoughts.
"I wonder what would happen if one actually hit the islands?" Riku said quietly.
Sora turned to his friend and grinned. "I'd hit it right back! Don't worry, Riku, I'll protect you! I promise!" He waved his wooden sword for emphasis.
Riku rolled his eyes. "I don't need you to protect me, stupid. If anything, I'd be the one who would end up protecting you!"
Sora flung a friendly arm around Riku's shoulder. "Yeah, I know. But just in case. If you ever needed it. You know I'm always going to be here for you, right? 'Cause you're my best friend."
In the dim light, Sora saw Riku blush and look away. "Yeah," he whispered, "I know."
Do you remember now?
Dream.
Dream of me.
