Since Kim had always wanted to go to America, it was decided that she'd be buried in the United States. Tam, now a handsome 29 years old (picture Keanu Reeves in the movie A Walk in the Clouds (he was about 29 when he made that movie..I think A Walk in the Clouds is one of the few movies he didn't look "dumb" in...but that's just me)), is engaged to be married. He makes a trip to the cemetery to talk to his biological mother before the ceremony.

Tam: I know I haven't been coming by very often lately. I'm sorry about that. It's been a very difficult two years for me, being away and especially with Mom and Dad worrying about me. But I'm back now. I'm getting married. Did I tell you that? Her name's Maryam. She's a journalist I met a year and a half ago. She's great girl, fluent in English, Arabic, and French. Dad told me you spoke a bit of French. He said that your mother worked for a French family when she was young.

My kid sister's all grown up too. Ashley graduated from college last year, and is now teaching elementary school in Texas. She's a great teacher. All the kids love Miss Scott; or "Scottie" as they call her. Yes, can you believe it? My little sister is a teacher. I know you looked down and protected her when we almost lost her a few years ago, and I thank you for that. The kids she teaches wouldn't have "Scottie" if she left us. The accident still leaves her with some emotional scars however.

Dad told me the story when I was 18. I guess you're wondering if I met Maryam over there and brought her home with me, like Dad could have with you. No. Maryam's family has been in Chicago for years. She was born there.Her parents were just as scared as mine when she decided to go. She didn't have to take that job, she just wanted to. To follow me, actually. I met her in Virginia, and I was about to leave, so she tried to get sent there too. It worked. Ha Ha!

I can't stay much longer. I have to get to me to the church on time! Maryam would not be pleased if I was late. I love you and miss you.
