AN: Well i just came up with this,it is supposed to be a one shot but if i get enough people who like it i will make a second chapter.......

Paine's P.O.V

It is a warm night on the beach in Besaid. I've been sitting here with Baralai for a few hours now, just catching up on what happened after our Crimson Squad days.

It seems to me that Baralai and I have a complicated relationship; it's not like a "Friends with benefits" relationship. It's more like we are both unsure of how to reveal our feeling towards one another.

"Paine?" I am shaken out of my thought by his voice.

"What is it Baralai?" I questioned

"Well I'm just wondering, what goes on inside that pretty head of yours."

Wow, that caught me off guard. I had to take a moment to think of a good enough answer, but I found one and it was the closest to the truth that I could give him.

"To much for you to understand at the moment" I stated with a small grin, Baralai grinned back and took my right hand in his right hand.

"When you think I will understand…..will you tell me?" He asked me with a look no soul could resist.

I smiled a half smile, "Of course I will Baralai"

He gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen on anyone and helped me up from the sand and with my free hand I brushed the dirt off of me.

"Paine, would you dance with me?" he asked sweetly

"But there's no music. How do you expect to dance Baralai?"

"Like this" Baralai then took both of my hands and placed them on his shoulders, he then took both of his hands and placed them on my waist.

I was startled at first, well that was until we started swaying back and forth with the crashes of the waves. It was almost as if there was music playing for us.

After a few minutes I decided to risk putting my chin on his shoulder. After I did that I felt his cheek press against my temple and I him smile, and as he spoke I could feel his hot breath on my ear:

"I love you Paine" My wish had just come true, I smiled and gave a happy little sigh, just loud enough for me to hear and no one else.

"I love you to Baralai" I said quietly into his ear

He kissed my temple and I closed my eyes as we kept dancing to the sounds of the waves.

This was my safe place, in Baralai's arms.
