Witch's house wolf's Shadow chapter 2: The Eclipse blade

I awoke the next morning to rain; this meant no training today so I went into the village.

However, it was strange. The usual bustling streets were silent, stalls were abandoned, houses were either sealed or open doors as if the people were running from something. With my keen sense of smell, I could smell blood. Feeling at unease I put my hand on the knife my mother gave me called Elisiya.

I walked to the church in the horizon carefully, while not very religious the village used it for shelter from the creatures of the night that come from the woods, be it rare for them to attack. But according to mother, Demons have invaded more frequently most likely due to the rumored Witch in the forest. I don't buy it but I can't really be sure.

The smell of blood weakened, but now sulfur dared to over whelm me as I got closer to the church, but it doesn't take long for the bat demon Zalf to strike me and knock me down.

"Finally got you! Now to eat your soul and give you to the Witch, head first!" Zalf spoke with a rather dry and high-pitched voice. I pushed him off, barely.

I try to run to the church door, but he grabs the back of my shirt and throws me behind him. I roll as he tries jumping on me again, I of course draw mt knife and like a dumb ass, try to stab him in the back, but his wings knock me away and he starts to get annoyed.

"Stay still and die, half breed!" Zalf charges me. I waste no time and start running for the church doors again, but just as Zalf tries to tackle me I roll to the right and he hits the church doors with a bang.

His skin starts to burn causing him to scream like a dying rabbit before he flies away back into the forest.

"Note to self, Demons hate holy ground and pizza." I joke to myself before entering the church.

[3rd person POV]

Ellen sat in a garden like room as Zalf is thrashed around by animated armor.

"You failed, you half brained beast. I was expecting results and all I get is you coming back to me with no head, much less a corpse. If Dango is right, then this Ace person could prove to be trouble for us. I will not lose my chance for a new body." Ellen said.

"Mistress! Please let Zalf prove he is worthy!? Please!?" Zalf begged.

Ellen was a cruel mistress, but his actual boss told him to serve her if he wants the Location of Zurin's sword Ouroboros.

Ellen had an armor pick Zalf up as she smiled with sinister intent.

"Okay, but first you'll be put through some torture to see how durable you are, survive and I'll accept, die and well I will have no further use of you. Of course, you won't be allowed back until the job is done." Ellen said

Fully realizing that this child witch was far more sadistic than any Demon Zalf pleads for his life as he's dragged away for punishment.

[Ace's POV]

After an hour of being in the church, everyone goes home or unseals themselves. However as most mother's would mine took me to the Village clinic to make sure Zalf didn't break any part of my body.

"Mom I'm fine, He just tossed me around a bit." I said.

"Doesn't matter, if he so much as scratched you it could cause your wolf blood to go wild." She said sternly. I just sighed and as usual just thought it was a mom thing.

The doctor was a nice man with red and white robes, with a crow mask. He was about 6ft1in like me, just more muscle. His voice was a French one.

"Good day young Fayron, my how much you have grown. Last I saw you; you were just a small child." The doctor said.

This was doctor John Phili (Guess who from Hell's kitchen inspired this) The doctor is my family Doc but I don't see him often as I'm never outside the village.

I just waved wanting to get this over with. I sit on the check up bed as the doctor searched for injuries my body and finds a lump on my back.

"It seems, you slightly fractured your upper back, but not enough to be noticed, just ice it for 3days before your training. But it will swell if you don't." The doctor said.

"Okay, I want to check on my friend Viola after this." I said jumping up just now realizing I didn't see her in the church today. After a few more instructions and some pain killers in case the fracture swells from the long walk to her house.

As I walked from the doctor's to Viola's house I was about halfway there and feel watched. Not wanting to get in a fight I start running.

The street to her house was strangely deserted. I was getting a bad feeling, as I kept going. However, I start hearing whispers and growls. Knowing trying to get defensive was pointless I ran only for a pack of timber wolves and some guy with an eyepatch, a black suit jacket and red pants. I started running towards the forest behind a now abandoned house refusing to let my friend be in danger.

"Come on boy, stop running and face death with some courage." The eyepatch man said.

I maybe a wolf demi-god, but it didn't mean I could fight without issue especially with my slight fracture. I ran for what seemed like hours before I finally collapsed at an old shrine dedicated to my mother.

There was just one problem, "Wait, nobody in the village knows she's a Goddess. So who built this place?" I asked myself as I approached it. I felt strange until I realized this place wasn't real. Someone seemed to be trying to hide me, but what stood out was a sword being held by a statue that wasn't anyone I know. Feeling more on guard I drew my knife. I walked up to the statue and touched it. I got visions of a purple haired girl in a red dress sitting in a house watching the horizon.

I then see a familiar face hammering a sword as it glows like the moon, but it darkens as something covered in shadows approaches before thing go black.

I wake with a start, some how back on the road to Viola's. I run to her and just as I arrived at her house The eyepatch man was talking with her with no wolves in sight. I put my knife away deciding it would keep her safe, but I could tell she wasn't buying anything the man said.

He bid her farewell and I approached Viola, I was pale as a ghost. According to the look she gave.

"Thank goodness you're okay. I got worried when your mom said you went missing." Viola said giving me a hug, I hugged her back. I was happy she was okay too. I tell her everything that happened.

"I knew that guy was weird, I had to stop my dad from shooting him, considering those timber wolves were patrolling all day, since they seemed aggressive we refused to go to the church. We're lucky that we didn't or that Bat Demon would've killed us." Viola said.

"Yeah, by the way do you know a story about a sword that glows like the moon?" I asked

"Nope, I am not really into such fairytales. But then again I don't read much as I'm usually busy doing house chores. Or studying for school." Viola says a little disappointed about it.

"Oh, I'll go through my dad's journals to see if he talks about it." I said,

I tell her goodnight and go back home. Once there I search my father's journals but find nothing.

"You're not going to find every answer in his journals." My mom said from behind me causing me to jump.

"Don't do that." I sighed.

"apologizes dear, but if you want answers ask me. I am Holo the wise wolf after all." My mom said

"Alright, what do you know about a sword that glows like the moon, but enveloped by shadow?" I asked.

"It's called the Eclipse blade, an enchanted blade that was supposed to be used against the Shadow king, But it was stolen by Dango the right hand of the Shadow King, but there is someone who can tell you More. A thief named Kharne." Mom said

"Where is he?" I asked.

"Oh, you don't find him. He finds you and aren't ready to meet him yet, but give it time." Mom Said.

I nodded, I knew I wasn't going to find my answers yet, but I didn't know this was the beginning of a war and me, Viola, and a third were unwilling actors in a show bathed in blood.
