Title: Saving Haley from Herself

Author: Me

Rating: PG

Summary: Set during "Don't Take Me for Granted", someone reaches Haley before she leaves with Chris. This most unlikely person convinces her to stay…

Author's Notes: I'm writing this because I'm a huge freak for Naley, and the thought of Haley actually leaving with Chris breaks my heart. Reviews are loved…

"Haley James! Er, Scott! HALEY JAMES-SCOTT!" He heaved exasperatedly.

The whole multiple name thing had him confused.

"Get over here right now."

She froze. Someone had found her, but it wasn't who she had expected. That voice did not belong to Luke, or Nathan. So who was it? She turned around slowly, and was immediately taken aback. She was definitely not expecting him.

"I don't know what's going on here, and frankly I'm suspicious. You are coming with me to explain yourself. Now." His voice left no room for debate, and she didn't put up a fight when he pulled her away.

He stopped at a bench just far enough off so they wouldn't be spotted, but he could still keep an eye out for that Chris guy. He sighed and let go of her arm.

"Well?"

"I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I…I wanted to go, to start over. It all doesn't make sense…why I should want to go. I love Nathan, we're happy…everything is happy. Just once it would be about me, and what I wanted." She rambled on while he studied her intently.

"You can't go. Do you have any idea what it would do to Nathan?"

Haley dropped her head into her hands.

"Look, I know I don't come off as the brightest guy ever. Hell I don't even particularly like you. You stole my best friend, and I faded into the background. That's not what's important though. You make Nathan happy. Really, genuinely, fuzzy-bunny happy…and I can't let you end that. You can't end that, he deserves more than you running off scared in the night. If you want to break his heart, you're going to do it to his face." He jerked her to her feet.

She pulled loose and stumbled a bit.

"I don't…I don't want that." Tears streamed down her face. "God, it's just so confusing. I mean, we never fight…and we have been lately. It's about Chris too. I guess, I guess I just wanted to do something bad for once. To stop doing what's expected…stop being me."

"Do me a favor Haley?"

She looked up at him, and slowly nodded.

"Dry your eyes, go home to your husband, and forget about the huge mistake you were going to make tonight, because no one is perfect. Not even you."

She snorted slightly in spite of herself. "Who would have ever thought you'd be rational?"

"Not me, that's for damn sure." He replied. "Now go on, get out of here before I start to like you."

Haley swept her hair away from her face and smiled a bit.

"Thanks Tim."

Author's Notes: Well, there you have it! A nice happy ending…I might write another chapter just to ensure a happy ending. With Haley actually going home to Nathan. Lemme know what ya think!
