As the visions of Itachi's past finally faded, Hinata found herself back in her room, still in the Uchiha's grasp.

For what seemed like another eternity, they both simply started at each other, both in absolute horror.

Then, Itachi pushed her away, slowly.

"Shit." He said, quietly at first, as if not quite believing what had happened.

"I didn't mean to..." He trailed off, eyes widening, taking in what had happened.

What he had just done.

Then, he clamped a hand, first at his mouth, then at his forehead, pulling at his hair, as if realizing the true extent of his actions.

Shit. Shit. Shit.ShitShitShitshitshitshitshit-

All his secrets, his mission, his feelings, his suffering, lay bare before her.

Hinata watched as he grew more panicked with each second, moving away from her.

She slowly stared at her hands, in disbelief.

The massacre...was an order?

The thought took a long while to sink in. It still hadn't, and she had so, so, so many questions.

Questions he had answers to.

She moved closer, her hand numbly going for his.

"You-You-" She didn't know what to say, and went back to thinking, still registering what she had just seen.

She stared and stared and stared, not even realizing that her hand was moving closer to Itachi's.

When they made contact, he flinched.

His eyes flashed, meeting hers, and his heart clenched. His breathing was heavy, as he snapped out of his thoughts.

What have you done to me?

What, indeed. His heart and body had long ago betrayed him when it came to her. Was his mind following too?

Had he fallen so low that he had absolutely no control over his senses around her?

What have you done to me?

Once again, she reached for her and he, again, moved away.

Push her away. The logical part of his whispered, Get away from her.

And for the first time in a long time, he listened.

He was up in a flash, and making way towards the window beside her bed. Hinata's hair flew in her face, as he opened the window, yet she still stared at his form.

He...had no choice?

Then, her eyes widened and she snapped out of her reverie. Her head turned toward him at breakneck speed, and she was on her feet too.

She was in front of him in a heartbeat, a hand on his chest.

"Where are you going?" She asked, her voice stone, ice cold.

Itachi took in her illuminated form, her red face, the angry tears in her eyes.

"Leaving." He said, bitingly. "Isn't that what you told me to do?"

He couldn't help his frustration. However, he didn't know whom it was directed at. Mostly himself, he assumed.

Despite all his genius, he had failed at many things in life. He had failed at being a son, being a brother, being a friend, a student, a teammate, a comrade-

The list could go on and on.

However, being a shinobi was something be was good at. It was something he had always been good at.

He hated that he was failing at that too. Because of his emotions, of all things.

Hinata narrowed her eyes, partially out of anger, partially to see through her tears.

"You've never listened to me before. Why start now?"

She took a step closer to him, but he stopped her advancement by removing her hand from his chest.

"Because I'm fucking tired of all this, Hinata." His voice had a mocking edge to it, lips curling into a scowl.

"Just let me leave."

But, as he attempted towards the window, she was in front of him again. She bared her teeth, before yanking hard on the window, pulling it shut with a loud snap.

"You're not going anywhere." She snarled at him, walking closer again.

This was the first time she had raised her voice on him.

His deadly eyes fixated upon her, but he didn't push her away, instead choosing to stand his ground.

"Move aside."

For as long as she had known him, she had never heard his voice drop to such a low pitch.

Despite herself, she shivered, but didn't stand down.

For a long moment, they held each other's gaze. Hinata felt her eyes burn again, with the tears, but she refused to let them fall.

"I said you're not leaving." She choked out, glassy eyes wide, her hand fisting against the window.

"And who are you to tell me what to do and what not to do?"

The words pierced right though her chest, and she flinched, as if the words had torn right past her heart.

Who was she to him anyway? She had believed that she was someone important, but she had imagined it all? Made it all up in her head so that she would not have to tolerate the thought of rejection again?

But, Hinata also knew that, that wasn't correct. Because she had seen the world through his eyes, seen the way he had looked at her, and she had recognized the look in a mirror.

It was not a look someone gave to just anyone. She knew that too, because she looked at him the same.

Her face crumpled, and she reached out a trembling hand, taking a shaky step toward him.

"Itachi, just-"

He simply shook his head, and made way towards the window again. Just as he had predicted, she tried to stop him again. He swiftly moved out of the way, watching as she stumbled.

What he hadn't counted on was for her balance to be weak. The quick movements twisted her ankle, and she lost her footing.

His eyes widened as he watched her tip backwards, towards the floor, head dangerously close to the wooden frame of her bed.

On instinct, his hands shot out, letting go of the window, as he himself moved towards her. Quickly grabbing her hand, he pulled, wrapping an arm around her as she slammed into his chest.

He didn't waste a second before tightening his grip on her. However, since he had let go of the window in his haste to save her, he was at the very edge of the window sill, supporting the both of their weights.

It wasn't long before he was tipping forward too. However, rather than falling the way she had, his own weight tilted the both of them to one side. He immediately flipped them, so he would be taking the impact of the fall.

They both fell back on the bed with with an oof. Itachi grunted slightly, feeling Hinata's whole weight on top of his.

His hands were still wrapped around her waist, not moving even when she sat up, on top of him.

He watched her rub her head, as she blinked rapidly to take in the fall.

Everything had happened lightening fast, Hinata found her head spinning because of the quick movements.

She leaned forward just as her eyes adjusted.

She found herself staring at eyes so black, they made her breath hitch.

He had saved her, yet again.

And Hinata couldn't believe the extent of his kindness; the fact that he had still chosen to protect her over himself even when they were fighting.

Her eyes refilled again with tears, and she felt her guilt increase all the more.

Looking into those eyes, she let them fall, along with all her walls.

"I'm sorry." She cried, speaking through her tears.

Itachi's eyes widened, as he watched Hinata cry.

A few tears fell on his cheek.

He was too preoccupied with cursing himself to wipe them away.

Good going, dumbass. You made her cry.

"I'm sorry." She repeated again, louder this time. She leaned forward, placing her hands beside his head, so that she could look him straight in the eyes when she spoke.

"All this time, I've been so ve-very selfish." She began, hiccuping between her words, as she continued to sob.

"All I was thinking about was myself, and..." She took a moment to breath, but it did no good.

"...and wasn't thinking about you at all."

Her eyes closed, and he noticed her face becoming red.

"The truth is, I care about you a lot, too! I want to be with you and laugh with you and train with you so badly."

I want to hug you and kiss you without limit.

"But, then I think about the person you are, and what you've done, and I can't help but feel guilty for feeling that way."

You are such an amazing person, that sometimes, when I look at you I can't breathe either.

"You are so always so warm and kind to me, and then, I feel guilty about not returning your feelings too."

Her shoulders shook harder.

"But, now I realize tha-that it's not just about myself. I was so focused on my own suffering, I didn't even realize what you-you were going through."

I thought I had everything left to lose by being with you, while you had nothing-

"I gave you the label of an enemy, without realising that your actions toward me proved just the opposite."

-I didn't realize that, that also meant that you already suffered enough to loose all that you had.

"I didn't think about how much precious this relationship was for you, and chose to throw it away because I believed it was better for me."

A stupid decision, she realised now.

Staying away had done nothing but make her want him more.

Her hands fisted against the pillow.

"I'm sorry." She cried out again, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry."

Her eyes opened when she felt warmth at her cheek. Itachi had a small smile on his face, fingers wiping against her cheek gently.

He sat up slowly, wrapping an arm around the woman to keep her from falling again. One hand went back to her face, wiping away her tears as they fell.

"In that case, I'm sorry too. For making you cry and feel like that."

He looked away, a guilty look appearing in his eyes.

"I suppose I was being selfish too, only thinking about myself."

Hinata watched with wide eyes, feeling her heart flutter.

He never lets me be alone in anything.

And just like that, she couldn't take it anymore.

Quickly, she wiped away her face with her sleeves, then going to wipe the tears that had fallen on his cheek.

He turned back to her, feeling her hands slide against his jaw.

"You-"

She cut him off by slamming her lips against his, the both of them falling back on the bed.

Outside, the first set fireworks went off.

Hinata felt warmth erupt in her chest, feeling Itachi gasp against her mouth. She pulled away, but only slightly, before tilting her head to one side and closing her eyes completely. Then, she pressed her lips against his again, more firmly this time.

Colours exploded behind her eyes.

He inhaled sharply again, his hands gripping her waist so tightly, she wouldn't be surprised if there were marks. She felt her heart pound in perfect sync against his own, felt him release a strangled breath.

Then, slowly, almost hesitantly, he began to kiss her back.

Oh god...

Her hands went from his jaw to the collar of his cloak, fisting in the cloth. Her hands trembled at her own tight grip, wanting to keep herself anchored to the ground.

If she let go, she feared she would simply evaporate, disintegrate into thin air. Or fly so far above and beyond the ground, that she would never be able to set foot on land again.

She moved her lips along his, feeling electricity race down her spine, the butterflies in her stomach, the urge to get closer to him only increasing.

She felt fingers cupping her cheek, and she sighed, before half-heartedly pulling away for air.

She slowly opened her eyes, fingers lingering at her lips, a dazed look on her face as she panted.

Beneath her, Itachi exhaled shakily, wide eyes focused on Hinata, still in disbelief. He licked his lips, shuddering when he tasted traces of something unimaginably sweet.

She tasted so much better than he had imagined.

As Hinata leaned forward again, he met her eyes.

Placing both his hands on her waist, he didn't waste any time before flipping them over. He heard Hinata gasp at the sudden movement, cheeks turning red at their new position.

She looked far too irresistible for him to ignore, especially after their first kiss.

He didn't hesitate another second before crashing his lips against her again.

There was that spark of a firecracker, that strike of lightening. That familiar heat fluttering in his stomach, warming him from inside.

It felt like home.

He moved his lips against hers, so plump and lush, he couldn't find it in himself to pull away.

He parted his mouth slightly, gently sucking on her lower lip, groaning when he tasted honey and coffee.

Hinata whimpered, one arm wrapped around his neck, the hand of other fisted in his bangs, before going to caress his jaw.

Taking the opportunity, he slipped his tongue in her mouth, feeling her let out a strangled sound, as she arched against him, her nails now digging in his back.

He pulled away, just long enough to rest an arm above her head and place a hand behind her neck, to pull her closer, his thumb sliding against her cheek.

Then, he was kissing her again, their tongues dancing against each other. He groaned slightly, exploring, looking for that one spot he just knew would-

She moaned.

A moment later, he was pulling away. He smirked in satisfaction as her lips trailed after his, out of instinct, disappointed.

Hinata slowly opened her eyes, fingers once again lingering at her lips. Then, she extended her hand towards his face, caressing his jaw. Her thumb rested on his own lips, tracing his smile.

She met Itachi's eyes, and she could have sworn that time stopped. Suddenly, the rest of the world faded, being of no importance to her at the moment.

This moment. She breathed out, eyes wide. I was born for this moment. This person. This kiss.

She pulled him to her again--much to Itachi's delight--feeling the fireworks explode when their lips met for the fourth time.

They kissed again and again and again, making up for all the time they had wasted. However, their intentions were clear.

From now on, there would be no avoidance, no more excuses.

And all it took was a look of confirmation, a look of acceptance from the both of them to drown in each other's ocean again.

Let it be known the Hinata was a goddess made to walk among mortals.

It was no secret how beautiful Itachi found her, but now it really went to a totally different level.

She looked gorgeous in his arms, lips swollen and grinning like there was no tomorrow.

Her cheeks were red, her nose was red, her neck was red, and-

Holy gods above, even her ears are red.

He had the sudden urge to lay kisses all over her face.

Again.

But, he didn't. They had been making out for the past hour, occasionally talking about nothing and everything at the same time. Then, he had stopped her because he hadn't wanted to get carried away.

He sighed.

One step at a time.

He didn't want to scare her away like before.

Only a few minutes had passed, and she was out like light.

Currently, she was burying her face against his chest, arms wrapped around his torso, deep breaths escaping her.

He sighed again in contentment, before burying his nose in her hair, and inhaled.

To be honest, he was quite tired too. At the very moment, he was fighting the claws of sleep from dragging him into the world of oblivion.

But, he feared if he went to sleep, he would wake to find this all a dream.

Whether that was good or bad, he couldn't decide.

For long, his dreams had been riddled with bloodshed and death. Again and again, he had been forced to rewatch the death of his parents and clan.

Many times, he had seen himself standing in front of Sasuke, the corpses of their parents littering the floor.

At this point, sometimes Sasuke killed him, while the other times, he killed his own brother.

("You're a monster, elder brother." Sasuke whispered, blood trailing down his mouth and nose.)

He knew it would never happen, but he still woke up every morning in cold sweat, afraid to go to sleep at night.

(I know. You don't need to remind me.)

Then, there were the dreams filled with memories of his time in the village.

The good memories.

He once saw Sasuke being placed into his arms for the first time. They were small things; things he had never given much thought to before.

A dinner with his family, training with Sasuke, going on picnics.

("Don't you wish we could stay here a bit longer?" Sasuke asked, disappointed that it was time to go home.)

From these dreams, he woke up bittersweet, the faintest traces of tears still in his eyes.

(I would stay forever if I could.)

Recently, however, his dreams had taken a turn.

In the good dreams, he saw Hinata, laughing in a field of wildflowers, holding someone's hand as she ran. Her hair flew in the breeze, wild and carefree, without a single worry in the world.

It had taken time for him to figure out that that hand was his.

("Don't you just love the sun? It's so warm and bright." She exclaimed, closing her eyes as she spread her arms in the sunlight.)

These were the dreams he woke up to with a sad smile, envisioning better days, and fighting the urge to see the woman herself.

(You are my sun.)

Then, there were the bad dreams, where he found himself back in the Uchiha Compound. Only, instead of Sasuke, he saw Hinata standing in front of the corpses.

Like Sasuke, sometimes he killed her, sometimes she killed him.

Other times she ran away, disgusted to see the person he truly was.

("Did you really think that I actually cared?" She said, her tone malicious and mocking, "Do you honestly think you deserve it?")

Honestly speaking, he didn't know which was worse.

(No, I know I don't deserve it. I don't deserve you. Not even a bit.)

The last type of dreams, he didn't know whether to classify them as good or bad.

Predictably, they were about Hinata. In these dreams, he kissed her again and again, running his hands all over her curves, watching as she muttered and moaned.

("Don't stop!" She cried, arching as he slammed her back against the wall, her fingers clawing at his back, slender legs wrapped around him so tightly, it was impossible to keep his composure.)

From these, he woke up with a whole different problem.

(I wonder how it would feel waking up next to you.)

Itachi glanced down at the woman again, before moving a few strands away from her face. He kissed her forehead, letting his lips linger.

Let this not be a dream. Please let this not be a dream.

If it was, he didn't know what he would do.

However, despite his resolve to stay awake, he soon found the little ball of warmth next to him to irresistible to not snuggle in with.

It wasn't long before sleep consumed him, and his eyes closed.

This time, he would dream of first kisses and confessions, and--much to his happiness--wake up to the woman of his dreams by his side.
