While Elisa and the other gargoyles of the Manhattan clan were busy looking for Demona and Puck. The lives of the everyone in the city were continue as normal despite the fact that Puck had pulled off a spell where everyone in the city had turned into gargoyles.
It was not just in single area either as everyone in the entire city had been transformed into one. Something like this would normally be very reckless as sure one person get change from a human to a gargoyle would be harmless.
Puck was lucky that other powerful enough keep this from getting out were around to other city. Thanks to their efforts the only thing that the general public should know about today would be how all transportion that within the city stopped and had stay over there for the night.
Planes, trains, buses, subways cars. Any and every form of transportion that within Manhattan at the time Puck's spell went off was prevent from leaving in order to keep everyone that affected by his spell within the city until it was undone.
The effort needed to mantain the ruse for the general public mention that there was no one able to go after Puck other then Elisa, Goliath, and their group. It was good thing Puck had been hiding himself rather well in the recent decades otherwise there would be those of the magical community out for him cause of this stunt he was pulling. With one of them really pissed off that they almost got some important people to them caught up in it as well. Managing to prevent them from entering the city just in nick of time.
For the entire night Manhattan would be cut off from the rest of the world as no one that was inside the city would want to leave nor would anyone want to enter the city either. Thus in theory no humans turned gargoyles would get out while no unaffected humans would get into the city either.
As for transmissions that were being sent from Manhattan to the rest of the state, the country and the world for that matter. Well that was also being handle with magic too as the transmission themselves were affected so that no one in the general public at least would be aware that one moment their were people in Manhattan and the next they were all gargoyles instead.
Shows, Movies, broadcast, and anything else that was being transmission from with the city was affected by this form of magic to keep things from getting exposed.
The effects of these magics were not perfect as it only worked on humans thus anyone not human was not affected but at the same time a lot the non human that would be watching would not be magically inclined enough to see through magic of this level or just were caring enough to notice the difference.
So there would be some that were taken out of the city or would just be convinced to leave on their own which would cause headaches upon headaches for a long time to come in the future.
Really leaving Puck as someone that should be glad that who he was and not just some random powerful magic user doing this. Even when he was found again his name and the rep behind would give him so cover against most but not all and most speifically not the one he had royally pissed off either.
Thus the night continue on for most such as a teenage gargoyle named Oliver that was staying with his uncle named Niles at his home. Which was a building that had a comic book like store within it which was located on the ground level.
The ones above that floor were either for customers that wanted to play games or off limits to customers. Those floors that were off limit to customers were Nile's floors for himself as well as those he had over as guests. Of course, they had come through his business but the stairs were done in such a way that you could go straight to the upper private floors without having to deal with the lower ones.
Though what no one but a few was aware of was that Niles was actually a mage. Not overly powerful or important one but just an average mage that excelled at making a barrier and illusion spells which were what he sold those that required them. He was aware that there were more than just humans in this world. He was not aware of gargoyles though since there were not really that many of them in the Americas or Europe anymore. Thus knowledge of them was lost to the ages, also was not he on a level where he would notice the spell that turned human in Manhattan into gargoyles.
However since the building was still built with humans in mind despite everyone now being gargoyles, his nephew Oliver by mistake hit the right spot that unknowingly activated the barrier around his building. It did not keep anyone from entering or leaving however what it did do was prevent spells from affecting those that were inside at the time.
The night was most uneventful as the store never closed for the day as before it would have closed it remained out. After all everyone was gargoyles and thought they always had been so being open at night was natural thing as gargoyles could not run a business during the day after all.
The same being true for all other business within the city as rather then closing for the night they just remained open as it nothing had happened. Even if they were about to close moment before the spell was cast.
Stores that did close for the night already well things were done in way that everyone from those stores just thought they had the night off for some reason. It varied from business to business as there was nothing to have them uniformally be closed after all.
It was while things were normal at comic book like store that a woman rushing in wanting to see Niles seemingly in a panic
"What did she do this time" he said sighing
"Nothing at least I hope its nothing but is Ray and her club here tonight" she asked
"Nope as she wanted to me come with her though claiming that she was going part of something dealing with the Pack though. Pretty sure they got arrested but maybe it's a new version since Fox did get out of jail recently herself" Oliver stated upon seeing her
The woman who was not related to Ray by blood but had been her guardian her entire life had look on her face as if all the blood had just drained from it.
Though that look was frozen in place as the sun rose and all three of them turned to stone on the spot as things with Demona and Puck took longer as well thus everyone was standing there on a building a good distance away from the tower Puck used to boost his powers the first time around.
So the barrier that was activate around the building was strong enough so the counter spell was able to affect them at all. Those all those within the building rather then turning back into humans remain as gargoyles as result of this.
While the counter spell was not strong enough to get through the barrier it was enough to cause to turn off. Making so that Niles or anyone else would ever be aware it had been activated in the first place.
Niles had the place set up so that everyone would just think of any gargoyle there as merely part of the store's decorations and nothing more. He did run a comic book like a store so having a few decorations like a gargoyle statue was not seen as that out of place. As for those he had run the store during the day it was some humans he trusted to run the store for him as his daytime employees. Seeing as he owns not just the store but the entire building itself.
Niles, Oliver, Ray's guardian, and everyone else that remain as gargoyles within the building were safe as no one would mess with them as doing so would get that person ban from the store as well hit with hugeous fine for messing with the store 'property' after all.
