Author Notes
After reading a few poems about the various duel monster cards from Sierra's Darkness, I felt inspired to write a poem myself about the chess archfiends. This one will be about the pawn. I might do more poems but would only be about other chess archfiends. Time will tell if I decide to write about some other cards. So fellow archfiend fans (if there are any here), enjoy the only piece of fiction about the archfiends to exist in this section... for now anyway.
Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-gi-oh!
Hellpawn Archfiend
A peasant among the nobility
and a follower among the clergy
No cloaks or robes dangle from his shoulders
He's the poorest among the archfiend's soldiers
A simple helmet protects his head
Others have armor; he wears mail instead
His hands are his weapons like those of the king's knight
A shield for a left forearm and a sword for a right
Strength is not his greatest ability
Nor is speed, a skill of the nobility
Alone he falls but together his resolve cannot be broken
For what leads him through the battle is his dedication
Ready to fight to the death at his king's call
He faces the enemy and gives it his all
Fright, doubt and cowardice are words he does not know
To protect his fellow fiend, he'll gladly take a killing blow
He is the first into battle
when the battle-lines are drawn,
He is the loyal and humble
archfiend soldier named... Hellpawn.
After notes
Not exactly that great but I did what could. Hopefully I conveyed the pawn's appearance, stats, and effect well. I was also trying to tie into its real life counterpart piece. I know I didn't really talk about the lack of skin tissue (and muscle tissue in certain areas unless you consider those bone structures armor) most archfiends seem to have but then I would have to mention something like that in each poem about the archfiends. I'm going for more distinctive features among them. The next poem won't be around for a while. I have to attend to another story I'm writing. So any advance war fan who followed me here and is currently ready to seriously harm me, you may put away your weapon of choice. I'm going, I'm going already!
Before I leave though, please read and review.
