Chapter:6 Bearing the Burden
"Uhh... What happened?" Red woke up on a bed as he open his eyes to took in his surroundings.
"Got a good night sleep Red?" He then saw Green standing in front of him, Yellow sitting by his feet, and Blue leaning on the wall.
But the obvious thing was, all three of them are wearing the school's uniform. Blue the male uniform while Green and Yellow- Wait a minute!
"Y-You're a girl?!" The Red shouted in disbelief while Yellow clutches her straw hat over her head.
Blue facepalmed while Green laughs in front of him.
"You just realize after feeling her up? Hahaha!" Green said till she laughs again and made Red realize what she said and blushes.
"S-Sorry Yellow!" Red apologized as he waves his hands frantically.
"I-Its okay Red," Yellow assured him but he clearly doesn't look relieved.
"I-I didn't know that you're a girl okay! The hat really threw me off!"
"Ahem!" Blue fakes a cough to get their attention. "Do the drama later, we have classes coming soon."
Red and Yellow look at each other and decided to settle this later.
"So go take a shower Red, you stink!" Green said to him as Red sniffed his body and realized that he didn't took a shower last night due to him being knocked out.
"I already got your uniform set in the bathroom, just don't take it too long," Bkue said to him.
"Well, thanks you guys," Red said as he get off of his bed and went for the showers.
"Man, he's quite dense ain't he?" Green said as Blue just sighs.
"That's Red for you. He is a blockhead but he made it out by having great combat prowess," Blue said as the brunette nods.
"I can see that when he beat up the Nigeranis but how can he handle that without getting tired? He must've fought that thing by a few minutes."
"Because he wanted to stall the fight," He said to them.
"But why stall? Shouldn't he just finished it immediately?" Yellow asked.
"Because he needs to stall so he could pull out his trump card," Blue said as the two girls look at him.
"What is it then?" He then look back at them.
"His Semblance."
The Team RABG then reached their classroom alongside Team RWBY and JNPR. The former were just walking to their next classroom and just saw the latter two teams running to the same class.
So here they are in their class, listening to their Professor, but this Professor and this class. Is! Pure! Torture!
Standing in front of the class is a man in early old age. He wears a double-breasted burgundy suit with gold piping and buttons. His pants he wears tucked into olive boots, similar in appearance and construction to cavalry boots.
He has gray hair and a gray mustache and is a fat man. His build is similar to an apple shape, where he is chubbier on his top half, with a bit of a belly.
"That is what you are training to become. But first: A story. A tale of a young, handsome man... Me! When I was a boy..."
"L! R! L! R! Stop! And Dash! And Up! And Talk! B! B! A! B! S!" Red quietly mutters as he tries to keep himself awake from the nonsense he was hearing.
He's not alone on this. While Blake, Yang, Ren, and Yellow payed attention, he could see that they are getting bored from their Professor's "childhood" story. He could see Weiss, Pyrrha, and Blue writing down some notes. Lastly, Ruby, Jaune, Green, and Nora grew more drowsy in each passing second with Nora going to dreamland first.
"...Despite smelling of cabbages, my grandfather was a wise man. 'Peter', he told me..."
He just keeps muttering his mantra as he just wants something different to happen. Their Professor kept talking while the others did their own things. Blue still taking notes, Green now tapping her finger on the table, and Yellow keep touching the brim of her hat.
"Ah-heh-hem!" Their Professor faked a cough as he waits until he has their attention again. "In the end, the Beowolf was no match for my sheer tenacity, and I returned to my village with the beast in captivity and my head held high, celebrated as a hero!"
Their teacher then bowed to them as Red slowly getting frustrated.
"The moral of this story? A true Huntsman must be honorable!"
Red's hand now feel clammy as he waited in anticipation while muttering his mantra.
"A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!"
His right leg grew restless, each second making his foot bounce.
"So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?"
"I do sir!" Red then look to Weiss in shock as the both of them have their hands raised.
"Two volunteers?! Well, then, let's find out!" Their Professor said as he then turns to gesture at the pair of glowing red eyes surrounded by shadow shaking the cage that traps it. "Step forward, and face your opponent!"
Red and Weiss then left to change to their proper gear while Blue saw this and shook his head.
"What got our leader in a fickle?" Green asked her partner.
"One thing about Red that he isn't so patient, he will soon start to blow if there isn't something to let it out," Blue explained.
"So you think that this would help him a little?" Yellow asked, worried for her own partner.
"If we didn't create that mantra of his, he might have exploded 20 seconds ago," Blue said as the two girls look at each other in worry. Really hoping that they could help with his temper.
Few minutes later, Red and Weiss have their proper gear on as they waited for their Professor to open the cage. Red exhales to calm himself down while Weiss was ready to start.
"Goooo, Weiss!" Yang cheered with her arms high in the air.
"Fight well!" Blake cheered as well as she wave a small flag with their insignia on it.
"Yeah, represent Teeeeam RWBY!" Ruby was then the last one to cheer.
"Ruby! I'm trying to focus!" Weiss yelled at Ruby as the cape wearing girl looked sheepish.
"Allllright!" Their Professor shouted as the whole class waited in anticipation. He was near the cage with his weapon on hand. "Let the match...begin!"

The professor swings down and breaks the lock, dropping the cage door and revealing the two boar like Grimms inside, which caused Red to frown.
"Boarbatusks?" Red muttered in disappointment as the two Grimms immediately charges at them. Weiss uses her weapons to deflect one of Grimm's attack and roll to the side, readying herself for its next move while Red just steps aside. from the other Boarbatusk. The two Grimm stands a distance away from their enemies, studying them.
"Ha-ha! Wasn't expecting that, were you?" The Professor said to them.
"You take the right one, I'll take the left," Red said as his grapples were ready.
"Red wait-" Weiss tried to talk to him, but he quickly fired his grapples to the walls and reeled himself in.
As he was now in the air, Red retract half of his cables and the rest as whips. He spun in the air, his grapples wrapping around the Boarbatusk before pulling the Grimm towards him and kick it away.
"Bold, new approach. I like it!" Their Professor complimented the both of them, but Red kept his focus on his opponent.
The Boarbatusk then charge at him as Red fired his left grapple and it while twisting his arm to make his grapple go in a circular motion. He then pulled the cable and ironically hogtied the Boarbatusk with it. He was about to finish it off till he heard a thud.
"Oh-ho! Now what will you do without your weapon?" Red look behind him to see Weiss rolling out of the way just in time to avoid getting trampled by her Boarbatusk and make it crash into a desk. Weiss rushes at her sword and slides to get it back in her hand.
"Weiss! Go for its belly! There's no armor underneath-"
"Stop telling me what to do!" He frowns as he saw Ruby looked quite hurt at Weiss' rebuttal. Meanwhile, the Boarbatusk leaps into the air and rolls into a ball, spinning rapidly in the air and landing on the ground, consistently gaining speed until it launches itself at Weiss. It comes closer and closer, but Weiss activates one of her blue-white circles and blocks the roll, leaping up into the now-black snowflake symbol and turning it blue again so she can drive the blade into the Boarbatusk's stomach. It squeals and falls silent while Weiss gasps in relief. Seeing this, Red then finished his Boarbatusk by crushing its skull with his foot.
(End Music)
"Bravo! Bra-vo! It appears we are indeed in both presence of a true Huntsmen and Huntress-in-training!" Their Professor complimented the two as Red and Weiss stands up in attention but the heiress looks quite tired. "I'm afraid that's all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and... stay vigilant! Class dismissed!"
Weiss glares and turns away, walking hurriedly to the exit past her teammates.
"Sheesh, what's with her?" Jaune asked as the remaining members of Team RWBY look at each other with the same question.
Both Red and Blue are currently leaning behind cover as they followed Ruby to find Weiss, and what they heard made them frown.
"She doesn't have to be that harsh," Red said in disappointment as they saw Ruby looking dejected.
"While it is true, she doesn't have the authority to decide who would be leader," Blue said in agreement.
"Wise words Mister Oak," The two friends jump in surprise as they then look behind them to see Ozpin behind them.
"Professor Ozpin?" Red said in shock as Ruby turn around to also see their Headmaster and joined them.
"Is she right? Did you make a mistake?" Ruby asked with doubt as Red and Blue look at her in worry.
Ozpin just chuckles and said, "That remains to be seen."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"I mean, it's only been one day. Ruby... I've made more mistakes than any man, woman, and child onthis planet. But at this moment, I would not consider your appointment to leader to be one of them," He said as he lean in so he could look more directly at Ruby. "Do you?"
Ruby thought about it but still wasn't sure.
"Being a team leader isn't just a title you carry into battle, but a badge you wear constantly. If you're not always performing at your absolute best, then what reason do you giveothersto follow you? Just look at Mister Ketchum, while he looks like someone that people won't rely on because of his intelligence, he still do his best to make it work."
"Hey!"
Ruby look thoughtful with Ozpin's words, then smiles at him. Red and Blue were relieved to see her smile again as their Headmaster then turn away from them.
"You've been burdened with a daunting responsibility, Ruby. I advise you take some time, to think about how you will uphold it."
Ozpin then left the three students on their own.
"Well you heard him," Red said as he pat her shoulder to further reassure Ruby. "Just think about it okay, I might not look like it but I am still not used to my new status. Aside with my smarts, I'm still gonna try.
"That's why I'm here with Red, to help him along the way " Blue said as he has his arms crossed. "Trust is a very important part of a team, and you might get your partner's sooner or later."
"Take Blue and I as an example, we were each other's throats when we first met. We literally hate each other's guts but came to a understanding and we are now friends," Red said as Ruby smiles from this.
"Thanks guys," Ruby said in appreciation.
"Well it's getting late," Red said as the sun now sets. "Let's go back to our dorms, we still have some work in it."
"Well bye then," Ruby said.
"Same to you," He said as the three then went their separate ways.
It was now night time and Red came out of the bathroom in his pajamas as he dried his hair with a towel. He then put the towel around his neck as he saw his team now sleeping comfortably on their beds.
Red smiled as he went to his bed before noticing Yellow not completely covered with her blanket. He walked over to her and put her blanket on her properly which made her smile from it, he then look to the rests of his team and thought of what Ozpin said to Ruby
'I'll do my best guys. I won't disappoint you," Red thought as he went to his bed before looking to the broken moon outside and finally laid down on his bed to sleep.
And that is it for that chapter!
I know that its somewhat awkward, but the story would get better when I continue this story further.
There is some things I need to do to improve this story and its a good thing I'm only doing one chapter per month.
But I think that's enough for now and I'll see you guys on the next chapter.
