Chapter 7
Mewni Part 1
The next morning, Molly and Libby got up from their bed as they made their way downstairs to eat breakfast with Star and the Diazs. After the long journey that they had, it felt nice that they were finally able to relax for once.
"So, did you two get a goodnight's sleep last night?" Marco asked as he ate his breakfast.
"We did, Marco! It was an, uh, interesting night." Molly replied as she still felt a little awkward that she and Libby had to share the same bed together.
"I'm so glad that you two are enjoying it here! I remember how happy I was when I moved in with the Diazs!" Star exclaimed.
"So, Star. Molly and I have been talking last night and we were wondering if you might be able to show us around Mewni." Libby explained.
Soon, Star let out an excited gasp. "Really? I thought you'd never ask!"
"Oh, that's a wonderful idea!" Rafael exclaimed. "The kids were kind enough to bring me and Angie to Mewni on our anniversary!"
"Rafael and I had a wonderful time that day! It was our best anniversary ever!" said Angie. "Mewni is such a lovely place!"
"Despite all the near death experiences." Marco muttered under his breath.
"What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Star cheered, excited to show her new friends around Mewni.
After everyone finished breakfast, Star made her way to her room before returning with a pair of scissors. At first, Molly and Libby were confused with what Star planned to do with the scissors, but were soon surprised when she used the scissors to cut out a portal in midair.
"Wow! How did you do that?" Molly asked, surprised by the portal in front of her.
"These are a pair of dimensional scissors." Star explained. "With these, we can go to any dimension we want! Now, come on! Mewni awaits!"
With that, Molly and Libby followed Star and Marco through the portal. As they made their way to the other side of the portal, Molly and Libby took a look around to see that they were in a medieval kingdom. Instead of the usual blue sky of Earth, Mewni's sky had a pink color to it. Towering above the village stood a giant castle, where Molly and Libby assumed that Star lived at.
"Welcome to Mewni!" Star yelled at the top of her voice.
"Star, keep your voice down!" Marco whispered. "We don't want your parents to find out that you left Earth!"
"Marco, relax! We are only going to be here for a little while!" Star promised. "Besides, what are the chances that the royal guards would find us here?"
"Princess Butterfly, is that you?" came a voice in the distance.
The group of friends turned to where they heard the voice to see that they were face to face with the castle guards. It was at that moment when Star gave a nervous laugh, knowing that she was going to get in trouble with her parents.
Since they didn't want to get into anymore trouble than they were already in, Star and the rest of her friends decided to come with the guards to the castle. As they entered the castle, Molly and Libby felt that the castle looked a lot bigger on the inside than it was on the outside. They would have admired how amazing the castle was, if it wasn't for the fact that they were going to meet the kingdom's rulers. Libby was especially nervous since she didn't know how to act around royalty.
"What are we going to do, Molly? We are about to meet a king and queen. Do we bow in respect the moment we enter the throne room? Maybe we should go back."
"Libby, it's okay! We'll be fine! I promise that I will be by your side the whole time!" Molly promised as she held Libby's hand.
Just the feeling of Molly's hand in her own was enough for Libby to feel better. It wasn't long before the doors to the throne room were opened, revealing Star's parents, Queen Moon and King River.
"Star, is that you?" Moon was the first to speak. "What do you think you are doing here? You are supposed to be on Earth, learning to use your wand properly."
"Uh, about that. I just thought it would be nice to show my new friends around Mewni!" Star replied with a nervous grin.
With a frustrated sigh, Moon placed a hand up to her forehead.
"Honestly, Star! We have enough problems here already with those shadow monsters attacking Mewni!"
As they heard Moon mention shadow monsters, Molly and Libby gasped in shock. They had a feeling that they knew what Moon was referring to, but hoped that they were wrong.
"Wait, did you just say that shadow monsters are attacking?" Molly asked. "What did they look like?"
"Oh, it is hard to describe them." River spoke up. "You can't see their faces, apart from their yellow eyes, and they have these weird heart shaped symbols on their chests."
It was at that point when Molly and Libby realized that Mewni was being attacked by the Heartless. That meant that they had to search Mewni for the keyhole.
"Please, Your Majesty! Molly and I know how to handle those shadow monsters! Please let us help defeat them." said Libby.
"Hmm. It seems that we are running out of options here! Even our bravest guards would run away at the sight of those creatures. Very well! We appreciate your help!" River agreed.
"Alright!" Star cheered. "Come on, guys! Let's go stop those monsters!"
"Not you, Star!" Moon stopped her daughter at the last second. "We want you to stay in your room until we can bring you back to Earth!"
"But, Mom!" Star tried to argue, but Moon didn't want to hear it.
"No buts! Go to your room!"
With a sigh, Star finally gave in as she did as her mother said. The guards soon escorted Molly, Libby, and Marco outside of the castle, each of them disappointed that Star couldn't come with them to fight the Heartless.
It wasn't long before the group of friends returned to the village. They began their search for the Heartless as they kept their eyes out for anything suspicious.
"It's too bad that Star couldn't come with us." Molly sighed.
"She could have really helped us with her magic." Libby agreed.
"Don't worry about Star! I'm sure that she can keep herself entertained until we get back." Marco assured.
"Hey, wait up!"
Everyone heard a voice from behind them and were surprised to see Star running up to them.
"Star? What are you doing here? Didn't your parents tell you to go to your room?" Libby asked.
"I snuck out the castle. I wanted to help you fight those monsters!" Star explained. "What kind of monsters are we dealing with, anyway?"
"Um, they are called the Heartless. They go after the darkness in one's heart, so they could be anywhere." Molly pointed out.
It wasn't long before Molly and the others heard screams in the distance. It didn't take a genius for them to realize what was going on.
"It seems that we have already found the Heartless!" Marco noticed. "Let's go!"
With that, Molly and her friends rushed through the village to see the villagers being chased by the Heartless. They were Heartless that Molly and Libby have never seen before. Those Heartless appeared to be wizard type of Heartless in different colored robes.
There was a red Heartless called a Red Nocturne, a blue Heartless called a Blue Rhapsody, and a yellow Heartless called a Yellow Opera. Star soon took out her wand before blasting spells at the Heartless. The Heartless simply dodged the spells before attacking with spells of their own. Molly and her friends gasped before they dodged a barrage of fire, ice, and lightning spells.
"No fair! They can use magic too?" Star complained.
"Be careful, Star! They are not like any monsters we've faced before!" Marco cautioned, putting his arms up in defense.
Seeing that they should be more careful, Molly and Libby dodged more spells from the Heartless before they countered with spells of their own. Meanwhile, Star was blasting the Heartless with her wand while Marco was hitting them with his best karate moves.
Soon, the only Heartless that were left were wizard Heartless in lavender robes. The Heartless summoned lightning to distract Molly and her friends before retreating into a nearby forest. After recovering from the spell, the group of friends approached the forest before Libby took notice of a nearby sign.
"Wh-Why is this called, The Forest of Certain Death?" Libby started to feel intimidated from reading the sign.
"Let's just say that it is called, The Forest of Certain Death for a reason." Marco explained, remembering the last time he and Star entered the forest.
Molly could tell by the way her girlfriend was trembling that Libby was too scared to enter the forest. Forcing Libby to do something that she wasn't comfortable with was the last thing Molly wanted to do, so she walked over to Libby to make sure she was okay.
"Libby, if you are scared, we don't have to enter the forest." Molly tried to make her feel better.
Soon, Libby stopped trembling as she tried to be brave. "No, I'm fine, Molly. I need to be brave! Besides, if the Heartless return, they would just attack the villagers again."
"We'll be fine, Libby!" Star promised. "We only need to defeat a few Heartless!"
Once they were ready, they gathered their courage and entered the forest. The inside of the forest was dark and spooky with carnivorous plant monsters that snapped their teeth at Molly and the others. This was all too much for Libby to take in, so she held Molly's arm tightly the whole time to feel safe.
The further everyone traveled into the forest, the darker and creepier the forest itself got. Before long, everyone made their way to a nearby clearing, where they found the remaining Heartless. They all hid behind a nearby tree before the Heartless could see them.
"Okay, so the Heartless still don't see us." Marco whispered. "We have the advantage, so if we can just sneak up on them, we could-"
Before Marco could finish his sentence, Star jumped out from behind the tree and charged at the Heartless with her wand in her hand.
"Star, wait!" Marco tried calling out for Star, but it was too late as the Heartless already noticed them. "Why do I even bother?"
Soon, the others charged towards the Heartless as well. They fought back against the Heartless as more and more Heartless were defeated. As the Heartless disappeared, Star fired her wand at another wizard, unaware that one more Heartless was behind her, getting ready to attack with a lightning spell.
"Star! Look out!"
Marco rushed over to Star and pushed her to the ground before the lightning could hit anyone. This gave Molly and Libby the opportunity to defeat the last Heartless with their keyblades.
After recovering from the fall, Star noticed that Marco was on top of her, causing both of them to blush.
"Um, th-thanks for the help, M-Marco!" Star shyly looked away.
"N-No problem, S-Star!" Marco stuttered, feeling just as nervous as Star.
Both, Molly and Libby shared a couple of amused smiles with each other. It was obvious to them that Star and Marco had feelings for each other, but decided not to say anything.
"Uh, anyway!" Marco got back up, hoping to forget about this awkward moment. "Is that the last of the Heartless?"
"That should be all of them for now." Libby answered. "Molly and I still need to find the keyhole, so that the Heartless won't invade Mewni again!"
"I don't know anything about this keyhole you are talking about, but you two are our friends, and we'll help you out!" said Star.
"Thanks, you two!" Molly gave a grateful smile. "So, now that the Heartless are gone, let's head back home!"
Everyone else nodded in agreement since they were all exhausted from their long day. After finding a way out of the forest, Star used her dimensional scissors to create a portal back to Echo Creek so they could all get some rest after their adventure.
