Kaisa's eyes fluttered open which was accompanied by a yawn as she stretched tired muscles in her slender body. Pulling the blankets tighter around herself, Kaisa melted into the morning warmth of her bed. Sky wasn't happy about leaving Wayrest so soon after arriving and in the middle of a storm, but it was more prudent to leave Wayrest immediately before her heist was discovered. Thankfully the storm had tapered off by nightfall. The next six days it took her to get back to Daggerfall were pleasant as the sun was up and a cool breeze blew in off the sea the whole time. Rolling onto her back, she stared at the ceiling of her safe house while she pondered her next objective. Kaisa's current lead pointed toward a maid in the Daggerfall castle by the name of Cyndassa. Rumor was she might have a line on the emperor's letter and considering her mission on Lysandus's death and apparent murder was on hold, Kaisa might as well pursue the letter. With a resigned sigh Kaisa left the warmth of her bed to start the day. After eating breakfast, Kaisa put on her dark blue traveling cloths. Considering she was only going to the castle to talk to a maid, armor would not be necessary.
Stepping out onto the street, Kaisa took a moment to enjoy the beautiful morning sun and air. Stepping around back, Kaisa checked on Sky to make sure he was okay. When Sky saw Kaisa he snorted happily and stomped his feet in excitement.
"Hey boy, happy to see me?" Kaisa said cheerfully while taking his snout in her hands.
In response, Sky lightly butted his head into her hands, making Kaisa laugh affectionately. Sky then walked over to where the saddle was stored and looked at her expectantly causing her to laugh again.
"I'm just going to the castle, you can relax, you're earned it."
In response Sky stomped impatiently.
"Fine you win," Kaisa said while rolling her eyes.
Kaisa got the saddle and set it on Sky's back and began tightening the straps
"Brat," Kaisa said, earning a snicker from Sky.
Kaisa rode Sky to the castle at a gentle pace. Kaisa smiled as the golden rays of the sun warmed her face. She quickly arrived at the castle gates and handed Sky off to a stable boy and some septims to ensure Sky was treated well. Due to her good standing with the royal family the guards let her in with only a nod. Finding Cyndassa was relatively simple after bribing a servant for information. In just a few moments Kaisa found Cyndassa sweeping a back room. With a gorgeous smile and a little extra sway to her leather clad hips Kaisa approached her mark. Kaisa suppressed a smirk when Cyndassa's eyes caressed their way up Kaisa's form, hovering for a few extra seconds on Kaisa's seductively swaying hips that her leather pants left nothing to the imagination on just how perfect those curves where. Another couple seconds on her full breasts that her leather jacket highlighted magnificently. The icing on the cake however was when those eyes finally made it to Kaisa's divine sculpted face, Cyndassa gulped at Kaisa's sheer beauty. Cyndassa's face turned a cute blush after Kaisa winked at her playfully.
"Cyndassa, I presume?"
"Y…yes."
"I was told you might know something about the emperor's letter to Mynisera?"
"Perhaps I do, what's it to you?"
"There are…interested parties. It's not every day that an Emperor's letter goes missing. As to the who, don't worry your pretty little head on that," Kaisa said running her fingers up the maid's arm causing the maid's breath to hitch.
"A…and what d…do I get out of it?"
"Why what ever you want my dear," Kaisa said batting her eyelashes at her.
"Well, I need a werewolf done in. I know just where it is."
"Oh…okay," Kaisa said stunned slightly.
Kaisa was imagining this going a very different direction.
"It's a place called Wormehenge just to the north west of here."
"And why do you want this werewolf dead so badly?" Kaisa said crossing her arms under her ample breasts in mild annoyance.
"What's it matter? You want information, this is my price," Cyndassa said stubbornly.
"Fine."
Kaisa pivoted and walked out without a backward glance while muttering profanities at the maid under her beath. Kaisa went back out to the stables and got Sky and began the journey to this Wormehenge. Kaisa arrived in the afternoon to an overcast sky and rain saturating the landscape. Wormehenge was a ruin that looked like it used to be an old estate. Some sort of stone monument stood next to the run-down entrance to the estate. Kaisa remembered her history classes mentioning something about these monuments, thousands of years old from the days humanity took its first steps into building a civilization. Kaisa smiled as imagined the look of wonder and excitement that would be gracing her brother's face if he were here and looking at this ancient monument.
Deciding that it was too late in the day to go werewolf hunting Kaisa found a flat clear space to pitch her tent and got settled in for the night. It didn't take Kaisa long to get her tent set up and she eagerly dove in to get out of the rain. Sky unfortunately had to stand out in the rain but Kaisa removed the saddle and all the bags to make it as comfortable as possible for Sky. The downside is that it made the tent a little cramped. Due to the proximity of a werewolf, Kaisa had to sleep in her armor which Kaisa was not too happy about.
"This damn chamber maid's information better be good," Kaisa grumbled trying to find a comfortable position in her bedroll.
The next morning didn't bring any relief as it was still raining causing Kaisa to grumble even louder. Strapping her sword and shield to herself, Kaisa made her way into the ruined estate. Stepping cautiously through the main entrance Kaisa glanced around and didn't see anything large and fury yet. Furniture was scattered and broken with water from the storm dripping down through holes in the roof. It was dark and it took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the gloom that was broken up periodically by the flashes of lightning outside. Kaisa crept forward with her shield held at the ready and sword ready to strike at the slightest movement.
"Shit," Kaisa whispered as a molded floorboard groaned under her armored boot.
Kaisa froze for a moment and listened intently for anything that might be coming to investigate the noise. Kaisa breathed out a sigh of relief when nothing came charging to eat her face. Coming to a corridor to her right she paused and looked down the dark hall. On a hunch Kaisa turned down the hall and once she was roughly half way down the hall the strong scent of wet fur assaulted her senses. Holding her weapons tighter she crept to a door where the smell seemed to be emanating from. Easing the door open Kaisa groaned when the door screeched loudly as it swung open. Kaisa paused once again looking and listening for movement. Kaisa was just about to turn away when she heard the faint impact of water dripping onto her pauldron on her right shoulder. Purely on instinct Kaisa dove forward and rolled into a crouch. Kaisa heard a loud crash behind her and when she finished her roll and looked behind her, she found a snarling and growling werewolf standing where Kaisa had been only moments before. Kaisa slowly stood and faced the monster. Kaisa gulped as she eyed the far to sharp claws that seamed to grow as the monster began to stalk closer. Suddenly the werewolf lunged for her and Kaisa once again dove out of the way, barely dodging the claws that reached out to rip her to shreds. Trying to get her own strike in Kaisa made a slash at the monster's back. Impossibly fast the creature spun around and got an arm up and took the blow on the arm instead of the spine. The creature whimpered as Kaisa drew first blood but her victory was short lived. A claw came screaming in from her left. Kaisa barely got her shield around to take the blow but the force of the impact still sent her flying. Kaisa crashed through the wall and into the next room where she came to a sudden stop in a pile of debris and her own limbs. Kaisa rolled onto her back with a groan and a curse. Kaisa's eyes grew to dinner plates as the rest of the wall exploded inwards and an enraged werewolf barreled into the room causing Kaisa to desperately roll out of the way as it tried to maul her where she lay. Kaisa reversed her grip on her sword and stabbed blindly behind her as she rolled. By dumb luck she connected and heard the werewolf howl in pain as her sword bit deep. Once again, her victory was short lived as a hind leg shot out and slammed into Kaisa's side. Kaisa's left side erupted in pain and she choked back a scream as she was sent tumbling across the floor. Crashing into the far wall, Kaisa came to an abrupt stop and she struggled to her feet as her vision swam. Thankfully whatever Kaisa managed to hit must have hurt the werewolf too because it was backing away from Kaisa with a significant limp. Struggling for breath Kaisa clawed her way to her feet with her own limp. Kaisa and the werewolf eyed each other wearily, neither sure they wanted to continue this fight. Taking a few steadying breaths Kaisa charged the creature with a cry of rage. The werewolf answered with a much louder roar and charged Kaisa as well. They met in the middle in a flurry of sword, claw, shield, and fang.
Kaisa got a deep slash across the creature's ribs in return for it biting into her shoulder. The armor took the brunt of it but her pauldron was nearly torn from her shoulder and blood flowed down her arm. Screaming in pain she slammed her shield into its head to dislodge its fangs. They both staggered back from each other but through shear will power Kaisa recovered first and dove for the werewolf with sword held high. Unfortunately, a claw shot out and Kaisa found herself being held aloft by the throat. The creature squeezed and Kaisa began to panic as she struggled for air. In desperation Kaisa stabbed down as she began to black out and dug into where the werewolf's neck met his shoulder. Another earth-shattering howl and they both fell still in a death grip with each other. Kaisa fought to keep her eyes open and prayed the creature would bleed out before she suffocated. Debilla was with Kaisa and the werewolf went limp just before Kaisa blacked out. Kaisa ripped the claw from her throat and gasped as precious air rushed into her lungs. Which then sent Kaisa into a torrent of coughs as her burning lungs greedily soaked up the air.
The werewolf then reverted to its human form and Kaisa was surprised by a familiar face looking back at her. The man looking back at her had a very striking resemblance to Cyndassa and Kaisa fell onto her back with a groan.
"Seriously! It's her fucking brother!" Kaisa hissed angrily.
Rolling onto her hands and knees she pushed herself to her feet and spent the next hour limping through the estate to look for anything valuable. Kaisa managed to limp out of there with a couple hundred septims, some jewelry, and a few precious stones. Thankfully the rain had stopped and the sun was beginning to peak out from the clouds. Depositing her find into the backs she dug out a health potion and downed it, grimacing at the bitter taste. Kaisa then used a healing spell in her hand to do more localized treatment. Sighing with relief as the pain reseeded too almost nothing. Stripping her upper armor off Kaisa checked her shoulder and sighed in relief at finding no scars from the werewolf's fangs. Kaisa was immensely proud of her body and if it got tarnished by scars it would devastate her. Also downing a bats milk potion in case the werewolf had given her anything she got Sky saddled and on their way back to Daggerfall.
Kaisa stumbled into the castle in the afternoon with exhaustion pouring from her body in waves. She had dropped her armor off with the blacksmith for repairs on the way so she was glad to be rid of the weight. After several bribes she found Cyndassa and without preamble or courtesy she cornered the maid.
"Your brother is dead," Kaisa said bluntly.
"I…I…thank you," Cyndassa whispered as sadness overcame her cute face.
Kaisa melted a little at the pain in the maid's face and scolded herself for being a prick. Images of Aydin dead in some forgotten ruin checking her anger.
"I'm sorry, that was unworthy of me." Kaisa said hanging her head.
"It's…it's fine. The letter was given to the queen. When she got it, the queen got real excited and ripped it open. Then she said that its not for her but actually for Mynisera and then her eyes got real big. That's all I know."
"Well thank you, you have been a big help."
Kaisa left the maid and climbed the stairs that would take her to the throne room and request an audience with the queen. Kaisa had to wait nearly two hours for her audience but finally she found herself kneeling in front the beautiful Redguard queen.
"Ah my champion, wait can we do for you?" Aub-ki said with a smile.
"My queen, do you remember receiving a letter from the emperor?"
"Ah, the letter. This is rather embarrassing but the letter was stolen from me the day I received it. I never was able to read it," The queen said with a charming smile.
Kaisa kept her face neutral to not tip her hand that she knew the queen was lying her ass off.
"If you quest to retrieve this letter, we would be most grateful."
"Of course my queen, with your permission I will take my leave," Kaisa said with a respectful curtsy.
In response the queen merely waved her hand in dismissal. Kaisa rose and took three steps back before turning and walking out in search for the letter's intended person, Dowager Queen Mynisera. A couple more bribes to servants and Kaisa found herself in front of the Dowager Queen. Giving a respectful curtsy Kaisa waited for Mynisera to acknowledge her presence.
"Is there something I can do you my dear?" Mynisera said kindly.
"My Lady, I was sent by the emperor to track down a missing letter his majesty had sent you."
"Yes, I've heard much about you."
Kaisa sighed internally as Sariah's words echoed in her head this is spy central.
"Rumor is that the letter was mistakenly given to Queen Aub-ki instead."
"I never received any letter from the Emperor and I would not trust Aub-ki. She is not loyal to the Empire. Seek Lord Bridwell, he can tell you which Knights of the Dragon was responsible for delivering the letter. Take this ring, it will prove that you are in my service. Do not fail, we must know what our Emperor wished of us and we must know what truly happened to my husband."
"Of course my Lady, I won't stop until my mission is complete," Kaisa said curtsying once again.
For once not having to bribe any servants for information she made her way straight for the knight's barracks in the castle and found the knights with a dragon etched into their armor. Kaisa spotted what looked like the senior member and approached him and smirked as his eyes raked her delicious curves.
"Excuse me, are you Lord Bridwell?"
"I am my Lady; how may I assist you?"
Kaisa smiled at him gratefully. Knights were always so polite and helpful, Kaisa loved working with them. It made Kaisa miss her brothers and sisters in the Legion.
"The Dowager Queen Mynisera asked me to locate a Sir Regebert for her, would you happen to know where I could find him?" Kaisa said showing him the ring.
"Of course, I am happy to assist Lady Mynisera. Sir Regebert is on assignment in Gothway Garden and should be there for several more weeks."
"Thank you, Lord Bridwell."
"My pleasure my Lady," Bridwell said offering his hand.
Kaisa smiled at him and gently placed her hand in his. Lord Bridwell brought her hand up to lay a gentle kiss across her knuckles before giving her hand back.
"My Lady," Bridwell said with a polite nod
"My Lord," Kaisa said with a smile.
Kaisa walked back out to the stables to collect Sky and head back to the safe house. The trip to Gothway Garden would have to wait until morning, she was too tired and it was too late in the day for such a trip. Right now, the only thing she wanted to do was eat, take a bath and sleep, not necessarily in that order.
